NPC & PC Construction Thread

This thread is where you may submit potential NPCs and PCs. Fill out the application for the desired one and once it has been submitted I will either approve or reject it in the ooc. If I have any questions or concerns concerning the character, or perhaps you do, that will be discussed in this thread as well. Once your NPC or PC has been approved you are then free to post it to the official NPC & PC Thread. You may take notice that the PC application is the regular character application with the added PC label at the top and a section for code at the bottom. It isn't an error and you're not just seeing things, AND YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO FILL OUT THE ENTIRE APPLICATION TO MAKE A PC, so do not panic. It is just set up that way for easy transference from unclaimed PC to a claimed one. You may fill out as much or as little as you see fit to get the gist or entirety of the character you've created across to other people, however, please keep in mind that people will only know as much about the character as you put forward. So don't be disappointed if someone applies for it and they don't fit what you had in mind to a T when you weren't specific and explicit. When you fill out the PC application, omit anything you leave blank for the visual part of your application, to save space. Those blanks will be included at the bottom in the code section. The easiest way to go about this is to fill out as much as you see fit, copy and paste the code at the bottom of the app in the code brackets, and then go back and omit any sections you did not fill out. Can an NPC be turned into a PC you ask? That's up to the creator of that NPC.

Personality: Lady Agathe is an eager and good natured girl with a cheery wit and a bright smile. She is young minded and likes to have fun rather than focus on any sort of study or duty, though she does think of her duties in a serious light. One can just get... distracted, with court and dancing and all the gossip and oh those handsome lords. But being a lady in waiting truly is an honor to her and she finds both the freedom of the position and its teachings become her. Agathe is particularly happy that the position encourages her ferocity and teaches one how to fight. She is no shrinking flower and never has been, much to her parent's dismay, but now that she is a lady in waiting it is not expected of her to be demure. She gets along with the other ladies very well but struggles with her prying family who wants her to spy for them and divulge information on the royal family.

Those noble ladies who have the honor of being chosen are expected to undergo training, they are expected to be sharp of wit and strong of body, they take lessons from tutors and masters of steel alike. These ladies are considered a step above the rest and can make very favorable matches regardless of birth, as they have in the past, with the crown's blessing. Lady Agathe is the newest addition to the princess's ladies, replacing another who got married. She comes from a family that isn't exactly noble, but has noble connections. It is expected of her to marry a wealthy man who will raise both her own station and that of her family's, a fate that she does not look forward to but has agreed to undertake.

Personality: Hektor was brought up by his authoritarian father in a minimalist household, never given anything without having to work for it. His personality is therefore hardened. He will always strive to be the best at what he does with a grim determination to win the respect of his father. He holds duty and honour in the highest regard, but is ambitious enough to want to surpass his father's achievements.

Though aware of his status as a son of the queen, he has never used this to his advantage, always striving to earn recognition from his own skills. In his relationships with other people Hektor is wary but respectful. He treats his men like brothers, something learned from his father, and strangers with varying degrees of hostility. He has only ever met his half-siblings a few times, and never for very long. Around them he is uncomfortable and unsure of how to act. The only family life he has known has been his harsh father, and the brotherhood forged by combat. Often longing for an easier life, Hektor sometimes resents the fact that his father took him away from the comforts of court. The uncomfortable feeling stretches to his mother as well, though for different reasons. He harbours a well-hidden resentment of her for allowing his father's harsh treatment of him, though he treats her with all courtesy and respect.

Biography: One of the sons of the Messiah Queen, and the only son of the Lord Commander Agamemnon Komnenos, Hektor was destined for greatness. As a child of the queen he was given over to his father's protection to raise and care for him. What held back his early development was his father's embarrassment at his existence. Evidence of a flawed stoicism. However, when Agamemnon took Hektor to his side he trained and taught him with ruthless efficiency. From a young age Hektor was taught the principles of honour and duty, as well as combat. His father was hard on him, punishing weakness and mistakes. Over time Hektor grew determined to win the grudging respect of his father, even striving to surpass him. He has fought alongside his father a number of times, but shares his father's disdain for pointless tournaments and frivolous activities.

Growing into manhood, Hektor strives for independence from his father. Seeking his own commands, he picks his own fights and which roads to travel. Often this leads to conflict with Agamemnon, who sees his son's actions as foolhardy. Unlike his father, Hektor is more open to emotion, and often finds himself infatuated with the beautiful noblewomen he sees at court, or even peasant girls he meets on campaign. The part of him that comes from the Queen, seeks adventure and emotional fulfilment, unable to simply follow the set path his father carved out.

Personality: Though not a particularly good servant, Delphi is a vital member of the Hive and one of Alecto's most trusted advisers. She poses as the Queen Bee's obedient and meek servant, but in truth she is one of her mistress' most important tools in keeping the Hive buzzing. Behind closed doors, Delphi is outspoken and frank with Alecto, unafraid to speak her mind and never one to censor her opinion. As a servant, she is invisible to most and can move freely without suspicion. This, paired with her advanced scrying abilities and spider familiars throughout Dorelith, make her an ideal Worker Bee.

Biography: Delphi was born to a respected family three years prior to the rise of the Messiah Queen. Though they had no official title, they were very wealthy and financially backed their king whenever the crown needed assistance. They were loyal and good people, content with their position and generous with their coin. When Andromeda came to power, Delphi's parents, believing their lord would stand up to the tyrant, refused to bend the knee to the Inquisition or to their queen. The man they had been so devoted to betrayed their trust. Her parents and her older brother were executed by the Inquisition, their assets were seized by the crown, and she sold as a slave to a rich widow named Medea. As Delphi grew up, Medea became quite fond of the girl. She encouraged Delphi to speak her mind and also exposed her to witchcraft. The two began to practice the arts in secret and grew increasingly close. They formed a genuine friendship that lasted for years. However, things changed when Medea died of an illness and her children sold Delphi to the Honey Comb Brothel. Delphi believed that her life was over, but it had only just begun. The Shaded Sisters within the Honey Comb welcomed her with open arms and trained her in the ways of stealth. She learned to utilized the magic taught to her by Medea in a way that would benefit her sisters. She became close to Alecto, the star pupil of the brothel's madame. When Alecto married, she took Delphi with her as a hand maiden. As time went on and the Hive grew, Delphi remained at her mistress' side as a secret weapon. Without her, the Queen Bee's Hive would be nowhere near where it is.

Personality: The Dolos has taken on many appearances and personas, but for now it takes the form of a kind hearted prince. His current incarnation hides his insidious intents behind a charming smile and flowery words. He appears earnest and handsome, perfectly worthy of trust, but that is nothing but a ruse. Dolos is a greedy spirit, seeking only to further his power. He infects his host like a spiritual parasite and feeds on strife, pain, rage, and corruption. For this reason he constantly works to bring discord and negativity to everyone that crosses his path. His goal is to bring his host, in this case Charon, to a position of power and corruption, so that he can impose his horrors on as many people as possible. He is as devious as he is clever and his guile is nothing to be underestimated. Dolos is a demented trickster and will stop at nothing until all Baekoth trembles at his name once more.

Biography: The Dolos has always existed in the shadows of Baekoth. In its beginning, it was weak and pathetic, surviving on the fear of children and what few blood sacrifices it could obtain. It eventually became bound to a low ranking witch in a large coven. However, with Dolos whispering in her ear, she grew in power and rank, eventually leading the coven as a high priestess. It then became the focus of the coven and the fed it nicely with worship, rituals, and human sacrifices to make it stronger and more powerful. For generations, the Dolos was passed from the coven's leader to a promising young heir when the former was approaching the end of her life. The spirit was happy with its position, but craved more power. Its coven began a reign of terror, slaughtering hundreds of innocents in the name of the Dolos and waging a war on the mighty kingdoms of the time. This proved foolish in the end and the Cult of the Dolos was exterminated, including any children the spirit could jump into. This did not deter the Dolos, however, and it attached itself to the knight that killed its former host. The knight resisted the Dolos' influence at first, but over time he gave into the darkness. The knight rose and became a great and terrible king that is still remembered to this day. After the king's death, Dolos jumped from host to host, corrupted each of them and draining them of decency until their death. One host, the prince of a kingdom long forgotten and the face the Dolos wears for Charon, fought the spirit harder than any before. Much to the Dolos' despair, he refused it time and time again. The prince eventually took himself in a magical cave in the Freelands and killed himself within it, trapping the Dolos and preventing it from finding another host. It spent centuries trapped in that infernal cavern and weakened significantly. Just when it seemed that it would again feed, it was released by a desperate sorceress named Eos. She sought the power to save her son and Dolos was the only option she had left. The two joined together and the Dolos gave her what little power it had left. Thankfully, she was already more than capable in the arcane arts and Dolos was able to amplify her abilities enough for her to begin her plot. Eos only wished to save her son, but with the Dolos whispering in her ear she accomplished much more. She overthrew the counsel ruling over her tribe and established herself as the sole leader. The spirit twisted her into a feared witch and a ruthless dictator, capable of cruel and terrible acts. When Eos finally found her son, Charon, the Dolos sensed that the boy could become a problem if left unchecked. It attempted to persuade its host to be rid of him, but for once she refused to listen. The Dolos was proved right in the end when Charon murdered his mother, causing the spirit to attach itself to the seer. Now that it is within it's new host, the Dolos believes it might be the most promising one yet.

Personality: Arkhan is perpetually calm and collected. He never raises his voice, even when angered; instead, his tone changes from serene to a sort of unsettling, quiet intensity. He is confident, but not to the point of arrogance, and takes care never to underestimate his opponents. Every decision he makes is done only after careful consideration, and he never makes the same mistake twice.

As cunning as he is intelligent, Arkhan never wavers from the polite, respectful socialite he was raised to be. He has a sharp wit and a quick mind, and can converse just as easily with nobles as he can with criminals and beggars. Although a crime boss, he is a man of his word, and his loyalty to Thalia is unshakable.

Biography: Little is known about Arkhan's childhood, including his family or place of birth. Even his age is a mystery, as there is no evidence for it save for his word. What is known is that he is educated, talented at both magic and swordplay, and sports an accent that places him as a southerner. He first appeared in the public eye over twenty-three years ago in Dorchaidhe, as an adviser to the Lady Landry who ruled the city. The Messiah Queen was on the rise, and Arkhan strongly urged Lady Landry to stand against her. Unfortunately, the Lady was a devout believer, and Arkhan was forced to disappear or be arrested for treason.

Several years later, Arkhan made an appearance in Taomar, offering advice to the fledgling Daemon kingdom and warning them to not trust the new united Dorelith or it's queen. He, however, made little progress there as the kingdom was more focused on internal issues at the time, and he eventually made his leave, disappearing from history for over a decade thereafter.

When Arkhan did return, it was to the young noble and enterprising underworld criminal boss, Thalia Threnn. He had independently learned her identity, and came to her offering his assistance. She accepted, and with Arkhan's assistance, they united all the gangs of Red Harbor under their flag. He helped her set up and expand her criminal empire, and served as her right hand. When an appearance by the Lord of Ravens was needed, Arkhan stepped up to the plate, and his intensity and intelligence served the Conspiracy well in building upward and outward.

Personality: Where Arkhan is calm and patient, Calliope is aggressive and hot-headed. She has always hated the Messiah Queen, and earned an impressive reputation leading ambushes on her supply lines, before and shortly after her rise to power. Not one to mince words, Calliope doesn't like to waste anything, especially time. A tactical prodigy, it was Calliope's idea to co-opt the growing rebellion into a vessal to advance the Conspiracy's goals against the crown, and it was her leadership that turned the various gangs and mercenary troops from a ragtag bunch of sellswords, plagued with infighting, into a unified, formidable, criminal cartel.

Biography: Born the only daughter to very minor nobility in Citha, Calliope was raised early on to serve as a knight, a career she took to with enthusiasm. Although they were nobility, her family was neither prestigious nor well-liked, so Calliope never benefited from nepotism, and had to earn her rank and respect.

And so earn it she did. By 22, she had risen far, and was offered a position in the Kingsguard which she took. Although she did not guard the king and queen personally, she did lead lesser knights in castle security and, despite animosity from fellow knights and nobles, excelled in almost every capacity of leadership. She earned the nickname, "The Wolf of Citha" for her aggressive tactics and unconventional leadership style.

She was 23 when Aule's Messiah seduced her king and led a coup in the capital. Calliope was among the loyalist knights who resisted, but they were fewer in number and less organized than the usurpers, and took heavy casualties. Eventually it became clear that the cause was lost and Calliope led the remaining loyalist into the far reaches of the Cithan countryside.

When the new Queen began her conquest of the other six kingdoms, Calliope took the opportunity to go on the offensive against the tyrant, ambushing her supply lines in donating most of the spoils to the other kingdoms' war efforts. However, the Messiah Queen's armies seemed unstoppable, and one by one, each kingdom fell until only the city of Red Harbor remained free. Calliope didn't give up hope. Joining with pirates from the north, she ran the blockades to the city to bring supplies to it's citizens, but was unfortunately caught in the Riot of Red Harbor. Captured and brought before an Inquisitor, Calliope was tortured for days, leaving her scarred and bitter. It was only through sheer luck that she managed to escape the city during a prisoner transfer.

For 13 years, Calliope traveled Dorelith, sometimes doing honest work as a mercenary, sometimes stealing from others as a bandit, never staying in one place for long. Living in that world, it wasn't long before Calliope stumbled upon the Conspiracy, and found herself quickly rising through the ranks, eventually coming to serve in the Ravensguard. When her superior was killed, she was promoted and became one of Lord Raven's Lieutenants, learning the true identity of the Conspiracy's master.
