Sumer Solstice: Season of the Witch

The World

a part of “Sumer Solstice: Season of the Witch”, a fictional universe by SuperQ19.

Every year different groups of monsters host solstice and equinox festivals. This year's summer solstice is being held in Washington state. All and well, but for the average teen this might get boring. So what's left for them to do?

THE WORLD

A brief description of the world and how the beings all relate to one another.

The Council of Aelip:
The council is an organized committee of non-human beings that was banded centuries ago. Their purpose was to unite all of their kind to better protect one another from the growing human population. With a unified front of leaders in their respective species they could influence positive change without having the worry of secular division or ascension within their communities. The sitting member
s of the council are as follows:
Witches- Grand Wizard Archibald Zarych
Vampires- Lord Count Marius Avram
Werewolves- Clan Leader Shaemus McGillian
Lesser Monsters- Madame Exceltia Orens

Witches:
Image
Witches- like most monsters in the world received their fair share of persecution and hatred from the human race. This resulted in the famed witch hunts and witch trials throughout the world in ancient times. In modern day, witches have made a strong recovery. With their ease of being able to blend in with the normal populace, they've become the bridge builders between the human world and every other non-human race. Everything from creating modern products to assist their fellow creatures of the night to directly influencing social and political views. They have the potential to be the most powerful race on the planet, but to maintain balance, they also have the strictest rules and guidelines to abide by. Witches generally have a fair reputation, mostly out of necessity due to the fact that without their ingenuity many creatures would not be able to walk in the light of day anymore. A very unique relationship with witches is that their magic infused blood is extremely healthy for vampires. Merlin was one of the original members of the 'Council of Aelip' to bring together all non-human beings in order to cooperate for survival and coexistence with the humans. The witches are all governed by a 'council of elders'. A board of the most respected, experienced and wise witches in every respective field of magic there is to practice. They govern such things as law, customs, human and monster relations and dozens of other matters. The leading board member of the Council of Elders is Grand Wizard Archibald Zseaus who also holds a seat on the Council of Aelip.

Vampires:
Image
Vampires originated in Eastern Europe, specifically in the region now known as modern Romania. Currently the diversity and culture of the current vampire/vampyre is as unique as the world. With vampires/vampyres in every corner of the Earth, not restricted to any one culture or region. In modern times the bloodline of the famed Count Dracula has spread to a large family, in it's wake the family and several other 'true' vampire families have accumulated a large some of wealth and are revered as lords and counts in their native land of Romania and bordering Eastern European countries. Quite specifically the Dracula bloodline is a large bank owning family controlling sums of wealth throughout the human and under world. The head of the current Dracula bloodline is Lord Count Marius Avram of Brasov. Marius is the leading member representing vampire/vampyres in the Council of Aelip and holds the position of Lord Count; the most prestigious position; among the Clerics of Crypt; the governing body for vampires/vampyres. Vampires are stereotyped in being sneaky and predatory in nature. Always up to something or having an ulterior motive for an action. Vampires are proud and see humans mostly as prey, some of that attitude crosses over to vampire-witch relations as well.

Werewolves:
Image
The modern werewolf lives in clans, the old term being packs. The largest and most influential clan being the McGillian clan hailing from Scotland, lead by their clan leader Sheamus McGillian. Werewolves are rather secretive to outsiders and keep to themselves in terms of traditions and practices. Werewolves have largely received a bad reputation up until that last recent 60 years. There was a stint in Switzerland for werewolf trials which coincided with the witch trials happening in medieval times. Seen largely as mindless killers for many years, it's no wonder that their kind is so reclusive. Clan leader Sheamus McGillian seats the Council of Aelip on behalf of all werewolves. Werewolves are stereotyped into being closed off and aggressive creatures. People who believe the rumors either stay away and avoid conflict with werewolves or challenge them openly due to mistrust.

Lamias:
Image
Everyone seems to have high opinions of Lamias. Immigrating from their homeland of the Mediterranean they have become known for being extremely hospitable business owner, beauty product designers, nurses and so much more. Lamias have taken a chair in the Council of Aelip to represent all other monsters that have not earned their own respective seats on the council. This gives them a tremendous responsibility to represent lesser beings and disseminate their wishes and concerns to the majority of the governing council members.

Other Creatures:
Image Image
There are dozens of other creatures that exist within in the world. Beings both highly intelligent and rather simple minded share this earth and all deserve a place to live and call home. Fairies, mermaids, satyrs, trolls, goblins, lamias and hundreds of other creatures co-exist in the world together. All of these 'lesser' creatures are guided by the Lamias in the Council of Aelip. Despite not having a figure for each individual species of their own the common consensus is they are satisfied with a Lamia representing them. Satyrs serve as clerks and heralds for Madame Exceltia.

Humans:
Image
Humankind has lived on this Earth for as long as every monster has. Their ability to quickly multiply and populate more areas put them in increasing odds with the other beings that they shared the Earth with. As more humans became prevalent in the area, the more worrisome they became of any being not 'normal' like them. This led to large instances of persecution and prejudice against any creature that wasn't a pure human. Fear mongering took hold of the population forcing the other creatures into hiding or face the wrath of the overwhelming number of humans. Moving into modern times, mankind has all but forgotten that monsters even exist. Save for what they believe to be fantasy and fiction. The Council of Aelip have strict rules regarding monster-human relations. Monsters that are unable to actively shift their form or use magic to alter their appearance must avoid human contact. Witches are strictly prohibited from using humans for experiments or other magic to alter a human unless it is to preserve the life or secrecy of other non-human being. Vampires are forbidden from preying on humans for sustenance. Werewolves must remain a minimum of 20 kilometers away from anyone human village or population prior to a full moon rising, and any werewolf bites on humans must be reported immediately. Among many other rules that The Council has created over the years.
