The World of Utopia.

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Browser on Mon Nov 17, 2008 3:34 pm

So, I have this idea for an RP. It is a model that has been surfing my brain waves for months and it finally reached land…symbolically speaking of course. It is a sci-fi/fantasy genre, because of the combined elements I’ll be using to shape up this literary storytelling. I call it The World of Utopia; in which you will play a human character and help rebuild humanity on this new world. I suggest you sit, get your favorite drink, and clear your mind before you read any further; it is six pages of information and requires your undivided attention.

The Story:

In 2409 the threat of global warming was eminent on earth. The human planet no longer processed anthropogenic effects, warming and sea level rise rapidly continued for more than four-centuries, and irreversible greenhouse gas levels destabilized.

For years the higher spheres of society realized that in order to survive extinction mankind would have to leave earth and start anew on another planet. The United Space Co., the world’s colossal corporation controlled 90% of earth’s technology, instigated and financed the Idealist Network (IN) – a conglomeritic of earth’s top specialists in robotics, engineering, science, and military power assigned to build the space stations that would served as IN space colonies for earth’s elite society until a new habitable planet can be found.

On the eve of the year 2500 those who afforded the high prize of space travel and the luxury of a spacehome were removed from earth by military escorts and into the brand new IN colonies.

In the year 2721 a young IN Scientist invented a new technology – Travel Portal Machine (TPM) – which allowed humans to voyage over great distance in light years. This new technology made it easier for colonies to expand. By 2990 humans occupied a great deal of open space.

But time proved their efforts worthless. Those that remained living aboard IN Colonies found themselves witnessing a planet in critical problems, no longer fit for human habitation: the barrier in reaching equilibrium was a result of the large heat capacity of the oceans, and increased intensity of extreme weather, events and change in amount and pattern of precipitation affected agricultural yields, trade routes, glacier retreats, species extinctions, and increases in the ranges of disease vectors, and even the IN Colonies were vastly worsening in virtual poverty. Indeed the end of earth and the extinction of humanity were inevitable and imminent if a new habitable planet isn’t found.

In order to identify potential habitats throughout the universe the network used TPM Station 11 to jump start a new fleet of scouting ships assigned for space exploration. Over all 9 Reconnoiter vessels were build, each operational with over 100 humans and top of the line human technology. The scientist aboard TPM Station 11 decided to use old age cryogenic techniques and freeze human embryos as the last hope for mankind, and send the embryos across the far corners of the cosmos. These humans of the future were not grown inside a mother’s body instead incubated in a machine –A.H.I.R.M. the first Artificial Human Intelligent Robotic Mainframe, nickname Mother – programmed to thaw the embryos and start their hearts once a habitable planet is found.

3004, billions and billions of miles away from earth space, Mother, detects an ideal and perfect green planet, which it classified as Utopia. Mother orbits the planet and deploys AI Pathfinders to gather specimen of the fauna and its inhabitants, monitoring and categorizing the green planets resources.

In the year 3325 Operation Heart was initiated: the life sustaining cryogenic robots are activated, starting the revitalization of its precious cargo.

The new humans, after years of orbiting the planet, now look down at this huge terrible new world for which they are destined but not in control of. And whatever their fears, they have no other choice but to land and hope for the best…

What is Utopia:

No one can say for sure when the first intelligent beings appeared on the mystifying planet, but there is no doubt their development was directly connected to the Goddess of Life. Utopia is a captivating planet steep in mystery where plant life reigns supreme. Its rich biodiversity has evolved within the last three centuries, it has five ecosystems: scorching deserts, cool forests, immaculate lakes, abundant jungles, and the caves that sustain unclassified beings.

The peoples of Utopia are known as Utopians. The natives are intelligent animal creatures. In their human likeness they stand tall and tout. Males are big and muscular, their rough features, specially the face, witness their animal nature. The females are lean and brawny, usually more limber and their features although smooth bare the same sharp animal features. The metamorphoses are nonetheless superior to lesser mammals.

What you’ve been told:

Who am I?
You are a young human survivor. You have survived the extinction of your people and our world. For the last 15 years you have been educated and trained by machines with the tools to rebuild the foundations of IN Society in the strange planet of Utopia, our new land of promise. You were once a frozen embryo in cryopreservation for many years, once removed you were thawed and transfer to an artificial life form –Mother– for assistant hatching. Your new life has just begun.

Who are our ancestors?
Your ancestors built the AI robots that nourished and protect you around a technology more advanced than any other found on Utopia. It is up to your generation now to rekindle humanity, to make a civilization without dictatorship or fanaticism. Your parent is the machine that has nurture and educated you to rebuild our civilization.

Who is our leader?
Governor Smith is our leader; he is our elder, he is the first human to be born from cryopreservation. He is the governor of the IN Society. When he speaks, we listen! At least until you’ve worked your way up in rank, then you can speak to him eye to eye. His right hand is Mother who provides all knowledge regarding our technology and earth history. And, Dr. Emily Kordova, Director of INSE, our science and engineering program.

What we believe in?
We believe in science and engineering, the energy that fills every piece of technology with life and conscience. Since the beginning we are adherence to the teachings of Mother, to our technology we owe, if not our faith, our dependability. They watch over us and protect us. Remember as long as you care, repair, and enhance our technology, you too will advance into a superior human.

What do we value?
We value our freedom, equality, and knowledge. Unlike our protectors we are responsible and free of our actions. We believe that our force lies in our solidarity and technology, if we can persuade all Utopians to be civilized like us, we will share our technology and make Utopia the perfect world.

What are our prohibitions?
- You must never share our technology with Roliatis or Haliatans. They don’t understand us and we are guarded of their true intentions.
- Never breach the Law of the Idealist Network.
- Never join with another human with the intentions of reproducing by copulating.
- Never leave your duties unfinished for we depend on your ability to complete your work in a timely fashion.
- Never take the life of another human or place a human life in danger for your own gain. We are a network and all human life is valued, counted and depended upon for the completion of our work.
- Never be tempted to join Roliati religion. They are against our sense of independence.
- Never venture down into the caves of Utopia.

What are our goals?
Ever since our arrival we have been building the solid foundations for our future civilization. We must develop our individual strengths and technology, and continue to expand our colonies on Utopia successfully. We must improve our knowledge of the planet, in science and engineering to make better AI’s and enhanced the extraction of resources. We must build a TPM Station to contact the network, and search space for other human survivors.

Who are our friends?
For the moment we have not established favorable relationships with the subspecies of Utopia. We have kept our distance and continue to observe them, studying them.

-Friendly Tribes: (To be announced)

Who are our enemies?
We do not consider Utopians our enemies nor our friends. Time is our only enemy.

-Enemy Tribes: (To be announced)

- Bandits: Beware of outlaws, thieves and cutthroats. They won't spare your life if there's any profit to be had.

- Predators: The desert and caves is home to many wild animals, many of them will attack on sight!

How can I help my people?
We are in need of engineers and scientist to enhance our technology and build our colonies; explorers and harvesters to gather the raw materials for food and manufacture. You can be a valuable member by joining our ranks and maintaining the vision of IN above all others.

What can I expect of my people?
Our people are defended by AI who may come to your aide once you've accepted our vision. The more you act for the good of the Idealist Network the more you're noble deeds will be rewarded. The IN Council does not tolerate error, but we understand it is human nature to err. Every human has an equal right to walk the land, to obtain instruction, to harvest the natural resources, to choose their own goals, as long as they don’t violate the vision and Human Rights of the Idealist Network.

What is our new land?
Our Government body orbits space aboard Colony Station 12, and our first City, Genesis, has taken root in the Lake Lands. The lakes are by far the most abundant of resources and beautiful place on Utopia and to the keen eye offers every living essence needed for creation.

What can I expect from Utopia, our world?
As we become skilled in the ways of the world you will learn to tame the wildlife and expand.

Who are the Roliaties?
The followers of the Goddess of Life call themselves Roliati in their language, words of this language elude any reasonable translation, and their true meaning is apprehensible only for Roliati themselves. Roliatis are convinced they were the first race to come into the world.

Roliatis knew then, sublime forces had created their wonderful world, and use their supernatural talent (magic) and skillfulness to develop its mystery to the utmost perfection. Roliatis believe unshakably they are an instrument in the hands of the demiurge forces, their Goddess of Life - Evarista.

The Roliatis are proud legatees of a vast Empire and have a large fan of acolytes throughout Utopia. Highly cultivated mystics well versed in the art of magic, the Roliatis are both a quixotic and dominant religion. Incessantly they improve magical technologies. They unwaveringly believe that, just as every element of the universe has a purpose, every Utopian must be enlightened through Roliati doctrines in order for them to find their true place in society.

Roliaties live on the surface of the planet, and structure their civilizations in accordance with their innate territorial preference. They’ve built an empire that expands throughout the forest, jungle, and water lands, current leadership is Empress Yvani.

Who are the Haliatans?
They were Roliati once, devoted acolytes of the goddess until they developed a taste for the darker elements of their world. They strived for self gratification and yield blindly to their animal instincts. They got their name from an old house of people, whose head warlord founded the underground city Oasis Nest. The legends tell that the King, cursed by the Goddess, promised to endow those who would spend their lives serving him with great force. Thousands of warriors accepted secretly his gift. They could never be the same again, but they acquired enormous strength and ability to manipulate aberrant magical powers. But their power is also their curse; Haliatans use bioweaponry and can loose their will and senses and fall into bestial insanity, destroying every life around them.

The new religion turned out to be quite prolific and soon the new acolytes outnumbered Roliaties. Enraged Roliaties attacked their former kinsmen in order to avoid further contamination and banished them to the dark lands.

Haliatans disliked their position as outcast acolytes and declared independence claiming the underground caves and desert region where they rein supreme. The atrociousness of their bioweaponry feeds an incessant fear in the souls of the most courageous Utopian; But however complex their way of life they exemplify proud warriors, physically perfect and fearless. They embody the very essence of force, but at the same time humanly sage and competent.

The Utopian Races:
There are four distinctive genuses on Utopia: Felids, Hominidae, Squamatas, and Ursine. (You will learn more about the races once the story begins.)

So, what do you guys think? Do I have a plot or do I need to work on it some more? Is anyone interested?
Are you looking for an interesting roleplay? Check it out, you will like it.

Welcome Rei! Thank you for participating. I'm eager to get the RP going but it would be practical to wait and see if we can at least get two more participants.

You guys can help by spreading the word and pointing your friends (those you've Rp with in the past, those you think will be a good addition to this RP), to TWoU. Tnx.

I would like to join as well <3
It seems interesting!
No haven now as I watch it pour from everywhere.
Just like the storm that has come out of thin air.
Gentle caresses, just as paper thin -frail
and only- lack the strength to hold.

***Account from someone who has been observing those gathered***

He looked into the distance, and frowned slightly. Someone appeared to be running at high speed towards the area. As they got closer he smiled, then started laughing, recognising the figure.

***Account from Wolven***

He runs as quickly as possible towards the area, and stops before the one named Browser

"I JOIN NOW"

Grins then collapses on the floor, gasping for breath after his long run into the area.

XD

I want to join by the way, in case I didn't make it obvious from the above
"Humanity is far too concerned with the meaning of life and not nearly concerned enough about the experience of it."

Thanks,

If it is ok with you I will not create a character sheet. I hate them to be honest, I like developing my character during the roleplay and sometimes might like to bend how my character is depending on the situation, for example he may change the way he looks or his personality might change slightly due to things happening around him. If this is ok with you then great, if not then I will resign myself to the task of writing a character sheet which I don't want to write xD.

But yeah, i would appreciate not having to write one.

NP I won't be requiring a common character sheet or pictures. The CS will be more of a personal journal due to the set of rules that go along with this RP. I feel it is better to understand a character through their actions as they develop, and general descriptions of a character’s feature are always included in the starting post.
