The walk to Eternity's apartment was a quiet one, but Xavier had to admit that he didn't mind it. The streets and sidewalks of Vegas after nightfall never failed to clear his mind, and he wasn't sure he would have been able to think of something to say if he had tried. He simply kept a hold of her hand as they walked, and enjoyed the simplicity of it. Xavier had to admit, he was beginning to dislike the discrimination their relationship caused. Really, what was so bad about the species getting along? Sure, they're as different as bats and dogs, but really... we've all retained some of our humanity in the end, he finished his thought. Eternity let him know that he didn't have to stay, to which he quickly shook his head. Yes, he was exhausted, and he just wanted to sleep. But he had told Eternity he would stay, and he wasn't going back on his word. "I want to stay," he told her, and caressed the back of her hand with his thumb in soft circles.

They entered the apartment and she immediately apologized for the mess. Xavier looked around, seeing objects all over the apartment. "What natural disaster hit this place?" He joked, giving her a smile. He stepped on the heel of his boots to slide out of them, and then made his way for the black couch he loved so much. He turned around and let himself fall onto his back, his legs sprawling along the length of the couch. He opened his arms up in a welcoming way and said, "Lay down with me." He waited for her to do so, but as he watched her carefully, it was clear that something was bothering her. It clicked in Xavier's mind that never once in their relationship had she let her apartment get this out of hand, and she appeared to be in thought. Before he could ask what was wrong, she faintly said, "I have something to tell you." He almost didn't hear the sentence that followed, but immediately grew concerned.

A thought of his made his blood run cold. He asked his next question so fast, he wasn't sure if she had even understood him tripping over his words. "You aren't sick, are you?"

"No. No. I'm not sick!" Eternity said quickly. "Don't worry about that. It's something less drastic, more personal." She played with her hands as she thought about how to say it. Finally, she figured out how. Her eyes didn't meet his as she looked into the dark hall as she spoke. "Well. I had a bad night last night. I didn't get paid. Twice." She said, taking a deep breath, despite the fact she didn't need it. If she was human, she would've been crying. "I'm so sick of this."

She paused before going on. "I'm not even sure what to do. I'm thinking about getting a different job. Or," Eternity knew this was the part he wasn't going to like. She tapped her fingers on her thigh, still gazing off into the darkness. "get a pimp." She finished. "I've been thinking it over for awhile. But turning tricks is the only way I know how to get money." Eternity sighed.

"It's dangerous, with a pimp. But it'd be even worse being poor. You know? Xavier, I know you're not fond of this idea. But, it's what I need. You know? Please. Say something." She looked at him with begging eyes. Part of her wished she was still human, at least then she could cry. Her eyes moved back to the darkness. She was ashamed. She was ashamed that she had allowed herself to grow weak. "I'm sorry."
I have to find another path. Define my own future. One uniquely mine. Not a page from someone else's book. Not a fate that begins and ends on page one. ~ Batgirl.

Xavier instantly relaxed a little when she assured him that she wasn't sick. At least that meant that, hopefully, he didn't have to worry that her life was in danger. His hazel eyes watched her movements like a hawk, watching every fidget she made. Whatever she was about to say was really bothering her. He tried to catch her eyes, but was avoided.

He kept quiet as she spoke, but found himself disliking the conversation the more she said to him. It was no wonder that she was almost begging him to say something when she had finished, because even after the conversation had run dry he was still quiet. Now it was he that avoided her eye. He moved from his sprawled-out position on the couch to sit upright in a more orderly fashion, his eyes burning holes into the floor.

"Eternity, why didn't you come to me first? I would have beaten your payment out of them. You know that," he said, his irritation poking through in his voice. The fact that the full moon was only two nights away didn't help--he angered so easily during the days before. He felt betrayed. Xavier knew that it wasn't his place to sell her, only to protect her as she went from client to client. But he felt that if perhaps she had put her trust in him to receive the payments, she wouldn't be in such a dire financial state. He took a deep breath to keep his hands from shaking, and it worked.
"If you get a pimp, it takes your job onto an entirely different level. Do you really think that's best for you?" He kept his voice steady. He was sincere in what he was asking. He wasn't going to tell her "no" to what she thought would be the best choice for herself.

"Because I don't need you to protect me." She said simply, standing up. "If you were to beat them, they'd just come back after me. They'd be pissed. You know people. They're cruel." She shook her head and stood in front of him. "I don't know what's best for me, Xavier. I just want to be sure this won't happen again. Either I get a pimp or I use you. Or I demand payment up front but I wouldn't get so many customers."

The options truly were endless but Eternity was confused about what to do. She began pacing in front of her lover, groaning a bit as she thought. "I could work for one of those high class escort services. Sex is mandatory there. I get extra for it. Bad people are everywhere. My profession is dangerous." She said softly. "I know this. I've always known this. But it's all I know."

The dark haired girl paused and looked at Xavier. "I could be a stripper. But that's pretty much like being an escort. For me at least. Or I would just go on and pretend like nothing happened last night. But I can't do that. It's all crowding up inside my head. And, I don't know what to do." Eternity sighed and looked directly at Xavier. "Help me, Xavier. Please."

Re: Viva Las Vegas

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby BriBriBearx on Thu Mar 01, 2012 12:04 am

Xavier was on the verge of walking out of her apartment. She knew that he hated hearing about her work. He had made it clear that he didn't want to talk about it. He hated the idea of other men using her for something Xavier felt only he should have. The wolf inside him was coming to the surface again, and his teeth were gleaming with a thirst for reclaiming what was rightfully his.

He had already stood up from the couch, when Eternity asked him for help. He sighed and brought his arms up above him, resting his hands on the back of his head and turning away from her. That was it. Her asking for help? That did it. It showed weakness, and that satisfied his wolf enough to for Xavier to care again. But what was he supposed to suggest? He addressed the last option she'd given first, with defeat in his voice. "I don't know if I could get a job in security at the club you worked at if you became a stripper. I'd be out of the picture."

Of course, that was enough to let her know that he didn't like that idea. Xavier was quiet for a long moment, his eyes closed. Finally, he spoke up again, but he didn't like what he was saying. "If the escort services are where the money is at, I think you should go after it. But where does that leave me?"

"It leaves you as mine." Eternity said, reaching out for his hands. "It's safer then turning tricks off the street. Technically I don't have to sleep with them, I just have to be their 'date' for a few hours. Spending six hours listening to some guy go on about his life and stuff, I can make three grand. If it makes you feel better, I won't sleep with them. I promise."

The dark haired girl paused and looked into his eyes. "This way, I'll be yours. We can spend nights together more often. It's safer too." She knew he didn't like her line of work, at all. It had been the subject of numerous arguments between the pair. But Eternity needed someone to talk to. Who else but her boyfriend?

"I'm yours, Xavier. I'll always be yours. But money's tight. I gotta make it the only way I know how. I don't want to depend on you. You know me." She lowered her voice before meeting his gaze once more. "I love you." The words seemed foreign to her. She rarely said them, hoping Xavier knew she did. They scared her in all honesty. But now was a better time than any to say them.

Exhaling a puff of air, Xavier looked to Eternity. Three grand is a lot. Suddenly it didn't surprise him so much about why she was considering it. "That's a lot of money," he noted out loud. He chose not to comment about her offer not to sleep with them. He would leave that up to her. If she felt that the money was really important enough to have sex where it wasn't mandatory, well, that was on her. Xavier just hoped he'd never hear about it if she did.

He had to admit, spending more time together was an exceptional benefit. They were together a lot, but not often as a couple so much as business partners. He liked the idea of having more time to get to know Eternity even more personally. And as she said, he knew she didn't like to depend on anyone. It was a part of her feminist side. Xavier wasn't too fond of it. Even though he didn't make very much personally, he was more than willing to help support her.

"I love you, too," Xavier said, almost too casually. He meant it, of course, but he'd grown very used to saying it to girls in his past. It rolled off of his tongue easily, no matter how sincere he tried to make it sound. "Has anyone given you an offer?" He asked, wondering if she had taken any steps into the business already.

Eternity nodded. "I was talking to this woman the other night. She owns an escort service. It's a good, clean place. She only asks for twenty five percent of my profits. I only have to work with her until I get enough knowledge to run my own escort service. Right?" She said, smiling happily. It was rare Eternity had things figured out on her own so she was proud of herself.

"So basically, I go to her place tomorrow and get set up. I could be working by the end of this week. Isn't that great?" She asked, smiling. Eternity reached out and grabbed his hands, holding them tightly in her smaller ones. "We could even get a place together with the money I make." Moving in together was a big step and although Eternity was unsure if Xavier wanted to, she knew she did.

Sitting back on the couch, she smiled. "We'd be sitting pretty with me bringing in around twelve grand a month, right? I haven't been making that in three months, nonetheless a month." She said. "Plus, it's safer. I'd know who I'd be around and it'd help prevent me from getting sick. Or whatever this thing that's going around is."

Xavier nodding, wishing her smile wasn't so contagious. He found himself giving a weak smile along with her. He sighed, giving in completely and sitting back down on the couch. He had to admit, he liked this idea of service better than her current one. "It is great," he agreed. "I think it'll be good for you." Eternity reached for his hands, and he returned the favor by holding hers. He leaned in for a quick kiss, then pulled back away. "You know I would move in with you in a heartbeat."

Although, we're in for a lot of flaming dog shit on our door if any of the vampire or werewolf neighbors found out... Xavier kept his thoughts to himself, though he knew it was true.

She mentioned that she'd be less likely to get sick from this career change, and that comforted him a bit. But still, Xavier desperately wanted to know what was going on so that he could protect her from it. What if she fell sick and he later found out that the illness is sexually transmitted? How would he live with himself? And if it was... was it a virus that lay dormant for years before causing symptoms? His thoughts fell back to Kaige, and how he and Eternity used to date. He hoped not. He was beginning to feel overly protective again, and his thoughts went back to what he'd last said. Without thinking, he blurted out, "Why don't you come live with me?" Feeling rather impulsive, he gave a sheepish smile and added on, "Right now, I mean. What's stopping us? I'd say we've been together long enough."

Eternity sat next to him, glad that Xavier approved. Most of the time, she didn't care about the opinions of others, but for some reason, this time she did. She held his hands tightly in hers. "I'm glad you'd want to live with me. It makes me feel better." She kissed his cheek lightly. For some reason, Eternity had a feeling that things would be okay. But, well, she wasn't entirely sure. Nothing was ever completely okay these days.

"Right now? The fact that it's pretty late to start moving." Eternity laughed. "But sure, let's move in together. I'd love to live with you." There was a genuine smile on her face. For once, Eternity felt truly happy. "If you can put up with me. I mean, I'll help around the house and everything. I won't be some lazy bum girlfriend. And of course I'll put money in." But Xavier already knew that, right? He did ask her to move in first of all.

Eternity smiled. "So, do you work tomorrow evening? Because we could definitely get started." It was exciting that her future was finally being put together. She had been waiting years for this, literally. Eternity smiled. "I'll go over to Kaige's and then we can start moving in together. If that sounds good to you."

A big smile played on Xavier's face as she agreed to live with him. This was great! He thought. He wouldn't have to worry about whether she got home okay, or worry about any unwanted surprise visitors.... Xavier kissed her on the cheek. "Of course, I can put up with you. I have been for this long, haven't I?" He joked, then got serious. "And I won't ask for too much," he promised.

Xavier shook his head, glad that he had asked for Sunday night off. "I don't work tomorrow at all. I'll rent a moving van during the day and then come sunset, we'll start transporting your things," he smiled. He ignored the idea of her seeing Kaige tomorrow in the same day she was moving in with him, and chose to just be happy. "That sounds perfect."

"Ermm," he made a funny noise, remembering something. He scratched the back of his head and looked away. "I have some... interesting neighbors, though. You might have to put up with a couple of things," he warned.

Eternity smiled. "I'm glad you can put up with me." Her nose wrinkled as he kissed her lips. That wasn't what she wanted. She leaned over and kissed his lips quickly. There. Much better. "I know you won't ask for much." Eternity said, simply. "You're a good guy. And I think you like me a bit more than you show." She winked, playfully. Eternity was in a great mood and it showed on her face.

"That sounds perfect." Eternity said simply. "I'll be sure to be here and help out." She said. "I don't need to take much. Just clothes and sentimental stuff. Other stuff can sit here and rot." She said simply. "I want a new life. I've been in this little apartment far to long to want to take any of the furniture or anything."

Tilting her head to the side, she raised one of her perfectly arched eyebrows. "Interesting neighbors? What might I have to put up with?" The girl asked curiously.

Xavier nodded, understanding what she meant by wanting a new life. He'd been wishing for the same thing, which was why he'd come to Vegas in the first place. It would make moving easier if she was only taking clothes and simple stuff. His house wasn't completely furnished yet, but it had all of the essentials, including a television.

"Most of my neighbors are wolves... and dealers, and users. They keep to themselves most of the time but sometimes on their trips they can get disruptive," his voice trailed off and quieted towards the end, wishing it weren't true and he didn't need to tell her anything like that. However, he did and there was nothing he could do about it. "I've only really had a problem with them twice, and that was-" A knock on Eternity's door halted his speech. His ears strained to hear any sort of sign of who it could be, but he couldn't pick up on anything. "Who's that?" He asked.

Eternity thought for a moment, shrugging. "We can bring whatever you want from around here. There's not much." She rolled her eyes. She didn't care for her apartment much. It wasn't like anything she wanted or had imagined having when she was a child. She had been to Xavier's place once or twice and she liked it much better. Much, much better.

Eternity was use to dealers and users. She worked with and met them nightly. "I can deal." She said with a small shrug. She heard a knock on the door and raised an eyebrow. Who would come calling so late? One of her kind, she supposed. "I'm not sure." She answered, walking over to answer the door.

"I told you before I don't approve of your company." came a male's voice. Eternity stepped aside, allowing the taller male in. He stood about 5'11" and had a decent built with shaggy blond hair and bright green eyes. If one didn't know better, they'd assume he was in his early thirties, not over a century old.
"You act like I care what you approve of, Kaige." Eternity said simply. "I thought you were sick."
Kaige stopped to look at Xavier before sitting on the arm of the couch. "That's what I came here to talk to you about. If we could be private."
Eternity's blue eyes flashed to Xavier. "No. We can't. Whatever you have to say to me can be said in front of Xavier." She said, firmly as she watched the other vampire.
"If you wish, love." He drawled. "I managed to fight whatever it was. It was weak. But they're gotten stronger since they affected me. Others like us are dying left and right, Eternity. I wouldn't trust one of them as far as I could throw them, filthy dogs."
Eternity rolled her eyes at his latter comment. "What's going on?"
"I don't know. But it has something to do with them. How come we're the only ones getting sick?"
Eternity turned, looking over at Xavier with a raised eyebrow.

OOC: Sorry it took me so long to write back. I had family in town and things got really busy D:

Xavier watched the door with a quizzical eye, and then to watch Eternity as she went for the door. He went back to laying comfortably on the couch, only to hear a voice he ever so hated. He listened as Eternity held her own, but wanted to lash out at Kaige. He kept a stern poker face as the vile creature went to sit on the arm of her couch.

He couldn't help but grow curious as Kaige began to talk about how he had fought off his sickness. He was the first that Xavier had ever heard of to survive the virus. Of course, the curiosity was shortly thereafter killed by anger. It didn't help when Eternity didn't jump to defend him, as she had just a moment before.

This was a terrible situation to be in, because he couldn't bloody well throw out insults towards vampires with his darling nightwalker standing right there. "Perhaps our immune systems are simply more advanced..." he dared to say. "If the virus is changing, for all you or I know, my kind is next. Either way, I haven't got a clue what's going on either," he said, before adding on, "And she is not your love; she is mine. Don't call her that anymore," he demanded.

[Tis fine!]

Eternity chose to ignore Xavier's comments as she continued on her conversation with Kaige. "Well, it was very nice of you to inform me of all of this, Kaige. But as you see, I have company. Xavier and I were having an important conversation before we were interrupted by you, dear." She said, crossing her arms and standing up, pushing Kaige out the door.

Kaige wrinkled his nose, looking down at the woman. "I just came to warn you, Eternity. I wouldn't trust them, even him if I was you." He snapped. "It's as if you're turning against your kind for him. It's disgusting, Ternity. You should know how I feel."

"I don't give a damn how you feel, Kaige." Eternity snapped and with that, she slammed the door in his face, turning her attention back to Xavier. "Sorry bout' that. Kaige just likes to think he's king of the world, even when he's not." She sighed, walking over and sitting on the couch once more. She turned to face him and raised an eyebrow. "Now, where were we?" She asked softly.

Xavier smiled smugly at his woman while she booted Kaige out of the apartment. But of course, Kaige wouldn't have that. At his last snappy comment about Eternity being a traitor, his eyes searched the five-foot radius around him in search of something to throw at his stupid face. Amazingly, in this mess of an apartment, there was nothing. Eternity had already locked him out by the time his eyes locked on a landline telephone that he could have thrown. He sank back into the couch, disappointed that he'd missed his chance, but also happy that he hadn't lost control in front of Eternity.

"I can't stand him," he said, a murderous tone in his voice. He ignored her soft tone and dove right into what was on his mind: "What did you see in him back then? Why do you still care about him? Clearly, he doesn't think very highly of you," venom still laced his words, but he hadn't meant to let that last comment slip. He was only mad about Kaige, he didn't want to upset her.

Eternity rolled her eyes. "Most people can't stand him." She looked a bit shocked at the sudden flood of anger coming from Xavier, but she managed to keep her calm. "I don't know what I saw in him. He was different back then." She muttered. "He's still the same person, he's just prejudice against werewolves, like most vampires these days. I care because he was the only person there for me when I truly needed someone. He doesn't think highly of me because I'm with you." She said, staring directly at him.

She knew her last sentence wouldn't settle well with Xavier, so she continued. "But I don't care. I care for you. I like being with you. So I'm going to continue being with you. If that's okay with you." Her blue eyes stared into his as she waited for his next remark, a bit impatiently. Gee, thanks Kaige for ruining her so far good night.
