Wanted: Dragonslayers

Wanted: dragonslayers. Must be proficient with swords as well as magic. Compensation for near on 50% mortality rate is minimal. Must be willing to kill the very creatures that have been protecting mankind's puny existence, the result of possibly the biggest misunderstanding in the history of ever. Passion, skill, intelligence, motivation required. Be ready to stem the tide of evil with nothing but a kitchen knife. Experience dealing with unraveling layers of hidden secrets preferred.

Kingbreaker is simply a few guys and gals doing their job. About a group of dragonslayers drawn to a village in distress to do their job - kill dragons. Hunt them during the day, kill them, bring back their heart, get paid in food and wine and women. You know, the good life.

But what happens when the dragonslayers find out they've been killing the wrong creatures for centuries? What if they knew the creatures that have been harassing villages for the last few centuries aren't dragons at all, but wyverns, their close cousins? What if they found that they, as humans, have been signing their own death warrant, allowing the wyverns to slowly begin to reign supreme over their protectors, the dragons?

You're right. That's not interesting enough. How's about this: what would these little dragonslayers do if they knew there was more to the war between dragons and wyverns than meets the eye? If a terrible, terrible secret was being hidden, one that, if unleashed, could start a war that would consume the world in fire... literally?
