Azgrad, continent of Ashen

IT IS AN AGE of bitter uncertainty and unknown magic. Over 3,000 long, dark years have passed since the disappearance of the Great Elves from the world of Itiendor. A new race, flourishing in it’s infancy, has come to power in the northerly region known as Azgrad. These ambitious, passionate mortals are referred to as “Men”.
Violence shakes the foundations of Azgrad, as powerful clans battle for supreme control of the region. This is a time of covert liaisons, dangerous alliances, and treacherous murder. The great Inwaird Plains are a yellow carpet to the silent dead, whose corpses litter battlefields across the land.
In the foothills of the White Mountains, the powerful warlord Algorix III of the Great Silver Clan prepares for a military conquest of all Azgrad. Several forerunning diplomatic missions are carried out, including the dispatching of an emissary to the southward village of the Caethians.
Long-time rivals of the Silver Clan, Algorix III attempts to gain the favor of the powerful clan by offering his third daughter, Aerianna, to the Elder Council. Aerianna, known locally as “The Raven”, is whispered of all across Azgrad for her dazzling beauty. It is an offer that the aristocratic avarices of the Caethian Council could not possibly refuse.
In the White Mountains, there is an unknown power stirring. Rumors of hermit sorcerers and witches dwelling deep in the forests and granite caves spreads rumors like wildfires across the clans and taverns. Magic, an unknown art to the clans, is forbidden to mention or explore. Men always fear what they do not understand.
In the ashes of war, passion, lust, and greed, a legend is forming; so great that it will be remembered by all who dwell here, from now until the close of Mankind’s era.

PROLOGUE: “THE JOURNEY TO CAETHA”

Lieutenant Simeon Inwaird; commissioned officer of the Silver Clan, priest of the Golledrian Shrine

“…You are to assume command of a guard detail, and as ranking commissioned officer, lead the armed escort of the Princess Aerianna to the village of Caetha.”

The General’s words were cold and distracted as he shifted through parchments. Lieutenant Inwaird stood at attention before the general, listening with disciplined neutrality.
“When you reach the Elder Council of the Caethians, you will not exit their chambers until you have solidified a full alliance with their people.”
Simeon’s eyes shifted. “Sir,” he spoke inquisitively, “Who within the council is the Lady Arianna to betroth?”
The General looked up at Simeon with his glossy blue eyes, smiling sardonically. “There is to be no betrothal, lieutenant. She is a gift of goodwill to the wise council of Caethia.”
Raising his eyebrows, Simeon lost his discipline. “That is against the will of the gods,” he spoke through sharp, priestly reprobation. “Women of our people cannot be cast out like currency, my lord! This is-”
“This is the will of the Gods.” The General loudly cut Simeon off, handing him his sealed orders. “Your father was a loyal servant of our lord Algorix. Tell me, lieutenant, how far off the tree has his fruit fallen?”
Halting himself, Simeon paused. Looking the General in the eyes, he grabbed the orders from the old man and turned on a heel, silently exiting the stronghold offices.


STORYLINE:

This is the beginning of a long, intricate tale revolving around those characters that remain active. Simeon Inwaird, an officer of the Silver Clan, has been ordered to escort the royal daughter Aerianna to Caetha, where she is to be offered as a gift to to the Caethian Elder Council. This prologue will be the journey from the Silver Clan Village to Caetha.

Character Application

At this point in the storyline, all characters must be human. As the plot unfolds beyond the region of Azgrad, races such as dragons, elves, wizards, and dwarves will be available to role play. These will be reserved for the active role players of the story.

Name: Simeon Inwaird

Bio: Simeon Inwaird was born into the small Inwaird Clan, in which his father was a high-ranking officer. When the inwaird clan merged with the Silver Clan, the five-year-old Simeon was relocated to the Silver Clan's Village in the foothills of the White mountains, where he was privately instructed by his father on fine arts, literature, sciences, and military strategy. At the age of 15, he was chosen as a Golledrian Priest by the Shrine Councilmen of the Clan. At the Age of 19, he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the armies of the warlord Algorix III, ruler of the Silver Clan.

Name: Aerianna “The Raven” Ilriel

Age: 22

Class: Princess (?)

Biography: ‘The Raven’ is known throughout all of Azgard as being physically beautiful, but those close to her recognise the inner beauty that Aerianna possesses as well. Her fierce loyalty to her father is commendable, defending him from accusers wherever they might arise and even in a society which respects women highly, she stands tall as different. Often, she travels with her father to learn more about diplomacy, though she does not wish to learn of combat, using her natural and learnt diplomatic skills to deal with difficulties she is forced to settle.

In all of Aerianna’s years upon the earth of Ashen, not once has she forgone her loyalty to her family and people, always placing her own well-being beneath theirs and it has been a standard that she is recognised for. She supports her father’s military campaign with dutiful diligence and when she was told that she was to be escorted to the Caethian Council in offering for an alliance, she gracefully accepted the opportunity to serve her family in the public eye, but internally, a battle began to rage, between her desire to serve her father and her want to remain in her homeland. Aerianna knew that if she left with her escort, it was unlikely that she would ever see her home again and that stung more than she expected it to.

Name: Aiden "Silver Tounge" Leigh

Age: 25

Class: Theif/Assassin

Faction: Mercenary

Bio: Aiden was once the child of a rich merchent family, learning the ways of bargaining and gain respect. One dreadful night a group of brigands disagreed with a price, and instead to the head of his father. His mother, ridden in greif soon took her own life leaving Aiden to live on his own. He grew up in street corners and back alleys of various villages. The skills he learned helped him get into peoples house for 'shelter' where he would slip a few things in his pocket before leaving. As he grew older he became more adventurous and more cunning. Using his dark mysterious persona, he had taken the innocence of many a woman, often leaving them with handful of jewelry in his pockets.

He had once come across a strnager in need, a man supposedly chased for his overwhelming debt. He felt for the man having a family and said he would take care of his problem. He had spent a week getting close to the collectors and gained their respect. When Aiden let it leak the man where abouts, he quickly found the end of a blade in the back of his 'companions'. Accepting whatever the man had to offer he left on his way. He now travels those same back alleys and corridors, in search ofr his next job, or next woman to woo.

Apearance: He stands six foot and is built from having to constantly run and travel. He always wears dark colors to blend and match his mysterious look. His hair is scraggly and black, constantly crossing his face. He wears a long blade at his side and carries a few knives in his boots. His pants are altered to hold more than a normal amount of gold, and a makeshift bag is slewn across his back.

I was hoping for a couple more, but three will do for the beginning...I apologize for the slow progress, work has been hectic and I'm still drawing together back-stories for the RP

Name: Gen. Maileigh Till
Age: 21
Class: Military General
Faction: The Caethians

Biography: Maileigh is in love with her people, her culture. Her parents were very rich, but were not together and both had seperate families between them. She was often shunted a bit to the side, but it didn't bother her. She was sent to the top schools and wasn't hampered by many rules. The result was that she was free to create her own way.

She got into the military on a dare. Her friends and siblings were all doing impressive and "important" things with their lives, even at the age of fifteen. They were becoming artists, performers, kept misteresses to very influential people. So Maileigh decided she would join the military and vowed that she would be someone important herself in five years. It only took her four.

By the age of twenty, Maileigh was one of the youngest military officials in Caetha, not only because of her flirtatious nature and willingness to play the game, but also because she's smart. Her new orders, to escorting the Raven across the border, is her first high profile assignment.

I think there's a fair bit of plot behind this, so I don't think it'll be starting immediately, but you'll have to wait for Vish to confirm that.

Name: Clyde Lee Olrogg

Class: Archer/Alchemist/Scout

Faction: The Nomads

BIo: Clyde was raised by the nomadic Ashrea clan after being found abandoned on the plains as a child. He has been taught that the current rulers are evil, so he wants nothing better than to cast them from their position of power into the lower-classes of society. He is very shrewd, and can weild light armor, blades, and a bow with great skill. Most of his background is unkown, but he desires deeply to find out more about his past.
