A Work in Progress

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Cer on Fri Jul 30, 2010 2:38 am

First off, I left the picture sideways because the papers were very slightly off -- and the angle of the picture looks terrible if I am to rotate it ninety degrees. This was inspired by my love of the Victorian era -- and a Victorian decoration book. After having rented the book from the library and admiring the plethora of paintings from the era, inspiration struck. Late one night, pencil in hand, I took to madly scribbling. Although the photograph doesn't show it (I admit the lighting is poor as I just took the picture an hour ago, and there is only one light in this room.), there is immense detail put into the shading of their forms and attire. I plan for this picture to, in the end, span the length of a wall. At the very least, four more pages of work will be put in to finish the Mother. I don't know how long this took as I do not time myself, nor do I remember the exact date of its conception.

When finished, a better photograph will be posted. I plan for this to expand, or at least be the start of what will, in the end, be a collection that spawns a wall. At the least, a better picture will be posted in the morning. =)

Ooh awesome Cer! I would so fail at making a picture that large really. And even more so drawing a child. You did good! I think some of it is a little disproportionate but as said, you did a much better job than I would have with such a large piece of art. XD I usually stick with things that are just a few inches tall and wide.

Well done! I can't wait to see the finished project.

I noticed last night that the child is a little small in comparison, but I too am used to keeping things at one page's length. Originally, it was just going to be the bottom pane, but then I went crazy with it. There was a painting that had a grandfather and child, and I think that's what started the idea for this. The little girl looked so cute, but not a lot of the pictures I'd seen had child and Mom. Or, at least, most didn't have a child in to cling to their Mother's skirts. Now that I'm rambling, I'll stop while I'm ahead and simply say thank you. =)
