Androria

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Gintoki Sakata on Thu Jan 08, 2015 2:05 am

Sup, nerds~
Great start, Gin. People definitely haven't already lost interest from that one comment.
In case there was anyone else LIKE ME who up until now failed to notice that this rp's setting doesn't take place in Steampunk Earth, but Steampunk Androria, then here is where we're gonna post all of our ideas on the fundamentals of the world and how it functions. Wildlife, vegetation, minerals, etc. Anything that can give the beautiful world of Androria more character, not necessarily pertaining to the world we all know and have varying opinions of, known as earth! To build a basic structure of the world, this information is crucial!

Anyways. Thanks to anyone who's well-earned time I wasted in writing this. Happy postin'. Baih~

Creature type: Cthulu
Image
Origins: Once being no larger than the average sea snail, the Cthulu have thrived in the acid filled waters, feeding off of the chemicals within the deadly liquids, growing into the monstrous abominations we know to day. The best way to deal with them would be to avoid large bodies of water altogether. A Cthulu is no different from a beached whale when on land.

Creature type: Crawler
Image
Origins: Perhaps one of the last remaining wildlife life forms in Androria that have managed to maintain their original form, despite the toxic affects of the acid rain. Crawlers are one of the main man-eating creatures that inhabit Androria. They hunt in packs of at least eight and are much faster than one would think from first glance. Crawlers are actually quite agile and smart hunters, with an excellent sense of smell. Crawlers prefer to to swallow their prey whole much like a snake.

Creature type: Sarlacc
Image
Origins: A rare type of creature that isn't seen very often on many parts of Androria. These abominations were a once Crawlers who had been mutated along with humans they had recently devoured before the coming Acid storms. While most Crawlers live underground, these ones had the misfortune of being above ground at the time of the storms. Sarlacc often stumble about, directionless. Their superb hunting skills and sense of smell are now disrupted by the incompatible human parts that had already been partially digested. Some Sarlacc are even unlucky enough to have been fused together with other Sarlacc to make even more jumbled messes. These Sarlacc tend not to live longer than a few hours after their initial fusion. Sarlacc are nearly harmless as long as you don't stand anywhere near them. Most tend to starve from lack of survival prowess, while very few have adapted to their new forms.

Creature Type: Murk
Image
Origins: Murks are another carnivorous creature that have greatly increased in size, due to mutation. Now adays, the smallest ones are about 3 meters tall. The largest ones who have subjected themselves to greater mutation have grown to the size of small skyscrapers. Murks are most commonly found residing in caves and caverns. A single Murk can invade a human village on their own, plucking people out of their homes like vegetables from a garden and taking them to it's den for supper. Its saliva is a sickening adhesive akin to a spider's silk. The Murk uses it's saliva to bend and hold low-hanging tree roots in order to keep it's captives in place until supper.

Creature Type: Iram
Image
Origins: The Iram is the result of an everyday water buffalo that has gone through mutation. Strangely enough, their behavior patterns do not deviate from their original form. They flock together in large groups, finding their true power to be in numbers. They are able to consume and live off the polluted water of the planet much the same as any other wildlife that still inhabit Andoria to this day. They don't attack unless threatened and otherwise ignore the presence of humans altogether.

Re: Androria

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Fantastical-Ducks on Fri Jan 09, 2015 3:20 am

((So I was gonna resist adding to this for awhile but apparently I have 0 self control and here I am. Oh well... Either way allow me to add in some plants and things~ ))

Plant Type: Fractal Tree

Fractal Tree's were once a rare commodity in Androria difficult to grow and quick to die without the proper nutrition these strange towering trees were considered a beautiful work of art. These brightly colored trees have white trunks but each tree would have multiple colors of diamond shaped leaves ranging from bright red to more subtle blues and greens, during the winter months however the leaves of the Fractal tree fade silver before falling off completely. Although once rare Fractal Tree's are now considered a common sight as the acid rain seems to have only fueled there continued growth causing them to branch out into full on forests (Fractal Forests). Because of there gem like color and appearance some have come to claim that where Fractal Forest's prosper ore cannot be far beneath, though more then a few people claim the theory to be hogwash. Others however have just come to claim the Fractal Forests to be cursed with no creatures visible during the day and far too many mutated ones at night.

Plant Type / Common Item: Jade Grass / Healing Jelly

Unlike the mostly dead and or mutated short grass seen around most of the surface Jade Grass is far more rare and far more useful. Jade Grass only grows where clean water is found and is a thin long and curly looking grass that pokes out during good weather but retreats into its shell like roots during storms. Having undergone no mutations these beautiful and delicate green grasses have been around for ever and are still common in Aether however on the surface they are considered a great rarity and extremely valuable due to what they harbor. Healing jelly is a clear green tinted jelly salve found inside the Jade Grass shell like roots, like the name would suggest Healing Jelly can be applied to wounds and will help heal them faster. The green gel is in fact good for stopping pain and stopping bleeding. For small cuts Healing Jelly can quickly seal them but deeper and more severe wounds will need to have the gel re-applied daily or hourly for any substantial increase in healing speed to be noticed.

Plant Type: Sweet Moss

A dark green moss common to the underground, this sickeningly sweet smelling moss is able to survive in most conditions but is especially fond of growing in the murky underground however it is dangerously flammable and if applied directly to someones face and nose could cause them to pass out. However for all the danger of the moss it boasts some good use the oil from sweet moss is in fact quite useful for lanterns and lamps while the moss itself if properly pressed and dried makes for great insulation (but you really do have to press all the oil out or boom.) but for all of its uses it still heavily advised that you keep open flame or excessive heat away from Sweet Moss for fear it catch on fire.

((Onto ores and gems! It should be noted that Androria has the metals and gems we do along with these~ ))

Ore Type: Bethoulium

A black ore similar in appearance to coal when melted however it becomes sleek and metallic and is in fact a stronger metal then iron and steel however it is more rare. Luckily however it does not rust and can be re-melted to form newer items without using any of its strength some have called it the black diamond due to its strength however it should be noted that Bethoulium does not handled cold well and if frozen can be snapped in half quite easily.

Ore Type: Podacium

A white ore that often forms round pods in the rock however when broken open are often empty. For the most part this weak ore is for the most part overlooked except by the rich who found that if one went through the tedious task of extracting and melting the white ore one could forge very beautiful decorative weapon and armor out of the sleek pure white metal. Some rich people have even gone so far as to have there floors made with them stuff due to the aesthetically pleasing quality of shiny white floor and the durability it has as a metal rather then a rock.

Ore Type: Ieskietium

Some believe this metal to be the cause of all trouble Androria has faced. This dark green metal is oddly common and although it is not the strongest or most appealing in color the fact that it was common and decently durable caused people to mine and smelt it by the tons. Upon being smelted in factories it would release particularly foul smelling black smoke that some claimed made them feel ill. However it was worth it as Ieskietium was used to make nearly everything cheaply and quickly for the masses. Although nowadays the more heretic avoid this ore claiming it to be poisonous others just take the advantage of an easy harvest.

Gem Type: Astresine

This electric blue gem is a fairly common gem in an Androria and due to it bright colors was quite popular with both men and woman, because it was common and not particularly expensive it was also a favorite gift of parents when looking to purchase there childs first piece of jewelery (A common practice amongst families). The bright gem was also used by the lower class in there engagement rings as most could not afford diamond or the more expensive gems.

Gem Type: Lilac Ordoemite

This faintly purple gem was a rare sight in Androria and as such is highly prized amongst the rich a ficle and annoying gem that is surprisingly easy to crack or break it became an art form extracting and working with the gem in order to use it in jewelery or art. To this day Lilac Ordoemite is farm from the surface for those on the Aether a difficult job concerning that it requires people to leave an Aether island and then try and survive long enough to find the stuff.
Fear not the serpent under your rose.
Fear the people plotting under your nose.

For the serpent has no quarrel with you.
But the same cant be said for the people like you.

Re: Androria

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Fantastical-Ducks on Fri Jan 09, 2015 5:53 am

((Now that I've added in some boring plants allow me to fill in some of the blanks I may have left about Androria in terms of places))

Place Detail: [Surface]Underground

Image

Although the surface is already far enough from the city's of Aether some have chosen to go even farther and live amongst the sprawling caves of the Underground. There are many entrances to the Underground as it is for the most part a network of large caves harboring districts although none of these districts have any sort of leader each for the most part has a designated use some being large markets for people to trade and barter for work, food, animals, other districts are used as homes they are essentially underground cities though some of the smaller districts resemble towns though these are usually a hazard as 'muties' and creatures soon encroach. For the most part the Underground is full of vandalism, murder, and the sure fire mentality of looking out for ones-self. Despite the free run system of the Underground there is as we say 'honor amongst thieves' and that honor is currently what keeps everyone out of power and the Underground so wildly run. Because the Underground is a bunch of caves and tunnels they are fairly dangerous as there are more then a few mutated creatures that make there homes there as well and although the large presence of people is usually enough to keep 'muties' out it's not entirely uncommon. It should also be noted that the sprawling Underground is home to many types of strange and diverse ecosystems.

Place Detail: [Surface]Ruins

Image

Ruin's are commonly visited by Aether Raider's and are therefor avoided for the most part by anyone smart enough to want to avoid kidnapping. Ruin's as one would expect them are the slowly falling apart remnants of the factories and cities left behind when the Aether cities rose into the skies. Although the Ruin's were maintained for a short period of time after Aether islands ascension they were soon abandoned as people fell into violence and fear. Now left to be reclaimed by the plants and animals that have adapted or left to crumble these places are usually eerie and quiet. Although some people have chosen to remain in the Ruin's and are often called 'Ruin Rats' these shambles are really only good for the odd artifact of value or for the tools and spare ore sometimes still left over in factories.

Place Detail: [Surface]Towns/Camps/Others

Image

Although most try and avoid others or prefer the shelter from the storms the Underground offers small towns and camps have become a more common sight though how each is run is another story. Some towns have become dependent of the mutant animals and still farm-able plants and have managed to re-introduce currency while other smaller towns are more like shambled shelters filled with heretics all preaching the words they have come to accept as truth. Camps are usually small families or thieves each surviving for the group and are rarely willing to speak with outsiders. For the most part people living out of the underground travel alone and while some are willing to share and trade others stick to the idea of killing first. There are of course probably your more deranged nut jobs who have turned to cannibalism but word is they have moved farther to the East.

Place Detail: [Aether]Upper Class City's

Image

These beautifully kept cities are home to the elite and wealthy, many of whom have jobs as office workers, scientists, or running the factories and farms in the lower class cities. The cities themselves are kept clean with greenery and fountains adorning the white cobblestone streets, the only place that isn't sprawling with gleaming white and gold accents are the docks, due to there frequent use they are kept simple though the immaculate cleanliness is of course kept. The upper class cities have a fairly relaxed pace of living with no one feeling the need to rush it is only at night when the rich entertain one another that the city seems anything but slow. The people in the Upper Class cities do not speak with any particular accent and avoid using slang terms from the lower class cities. Beauty, education, and entertainment are the most valued things in the this city and those lacking it are often sneered at, to be frank its one big prudish popularity contest. It should be noted that only the Upper Class is allowed to /legally/ own weapons though most use them only as decoration or if there going to the surface. Because beauty is valued it is common to see the people dressed in elegant gowns and smart suits even the ANGEL's who guard these cities are overly dressed.

Place Detail: [Aether]Middle Class City's

Image

These cities are home to those who work as the upper-classes maids, butlers, ect. The cities themselves are often over-populated and full of hotels and attractions to encourage the rich to come spend time there and often they do. Because the rich are to prudish to allow for any over-zealous partying or other activities many Middle Class cities earn there income by turning themselves into big over populated vacation spots where the rich can frollick about leaving behind there prudish attitude at home. People in Middle Class cities often have thick accents and use lots of slang more then a few of them are acquainted with self defense, the Middle class is also the closest one will come to a black market up in the Aether.

Place Detail: [Aether]Lower Class City's

Image

These cities are split into two variants, those for farming are less crowded and the most exciting thing to happen there is have someone come in to pick up or drop off deliveries. The Lower class cities used for factories are often over crowded and over worked with poor hours most people start work at 13 and live in small apartments, the only real fun the people get in these cities are the rampant bars. ANGEL's are extremely common in these cities in order to maintain order and instill a good sense of fear. Air ships stop by often and if one would earn enough they might be able to get on an Air ship and upgrade there lifestyle to that of Middle Class resident.

Creature Type: Fallen ANGEL
Image
Image

Origins: ANGEL's who have lost all humanity are sent to the depths of Androria, so they only the surface dwellers have to deal with them. Added onto their already mutilated figures are the affects of the acid rain that taint the land. Most fallen ANGEL's barely even resemble humans at this point. They usually fuse together with Androria's various wildlife and become abominations. While a few do manage to retain a humanoid form, the majority of them don't appear to have any facial features. These fallen ANGEL's do seem to possess some level of intelligence. They have managed to limit the amount of exposure to the Acid rains, thus allowing them to maintain what little of their past selves they had. While they are semi-sentient beings, these Fallen ANGEL's are very hostile and are not as easily dealt with as their counterparts who have subjected themselves to further mutation. The fallen ANGEL's who had previously had mechanical body parts equipped have either discarded them altogether or changed the material into more organic weaponry through genetic reconstruction.
