Asperger disorder and crime prevalence

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Aniihya on Wed Apr 01, 2015 3:06 pm

Upon trying to figure out the difference between high functioning autism and asperger disorder, I noticed that half of the people in wikipedia diagnosed with Aspergers are convicted murderers while there are near to none listed who were diagnosed with high functioning autism. Then I went to read up some studies on this matter and most of them concluded that murder and arson are significantly more prevalent among people with Aspergers than without while sexual crimes are only a third as high. On the other hand, it is concluded that people with HFA are less likely to commit crimes. I am having troubles understanding why due to the fact that HFA and AD are so closely related. However it is also stated that in comparison with Aspergers and crime, HFA and crime has not been thoroughly investigated yet.

This however doesn't mean that it can be a basis to judge people with high functioning autism spectrum disorders. (I myself was diagnosed with HFA and am the absolute opposite of criminal.)

Could you weigh in on this matter?
Everybody! Unless you have been in a roleplay with me in the past and were loyal to it, do not PM or text me about joining your RP.

I do NOT do Pokemon, Yugioh, WoW or any such RPs.

Please be aware of this.

Umm Wikipedia isn't all that trust worthy information can be edited and i have aspergers syndrome me and i am most certainly not a convicted felon. So please don't think that crime has anything to do with aspergers syndrome people who don't have it are just as likely to commit crimes as those who do. There is no link between aspergers syndrome and crime. If there was science would have proven it through studies. Just because a few murderers have that doesn't mean ig has any relevancy to crime itself.
I am not writers blocked just waiting for people to post.

First off, not just wikipedia states that Aspies are more likely to be victims and murderers than the neurotypical population. Secondly, it is common for Aspies to deny this just because THEY aren't violent. Just because you don't commit crimes doesn't exclude others from doing it. And the thing is that Asperger syndrome isn't the cause of behavior that may make one more likely to be bullied or to murder but the comorbidities that come with it. And it is IQ and not ig. Serial killers first get caught later because serious killers commonly have a high IQ and OCD. A dumbass can commit a murder, but a genius can get away with it.

http://www.dreampositive.info/on-correl ... -violence/ Numero six, the exact point why I do not deny it. Because due to a lack of understanding of the condition, sufficient help cannot be supplied when needed, eventually messing up a person, so they are more likely to commit murder or arson.

So do not deny it, just because you are like a butterfly. Because you should not generalize a group being exactly like yourself. That is another issue I have noticed with Aspies. They tend to not reflect realistically but will deny something just because it doesn't apply to them.
