Drako11 Vs. Skallagrim (Spar)

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Skallagrim on Wed Apr 29, 2009 12:46 pm

I accept the offer for a spar Drako11.
I am requesting you allow me some time because I will be gone for 10-days starting tomorrow for my wedding/honeymoon so I will be unable to respond.

Please post your character, the setting and stance up. I will respond as soon as I can. Here are my rules for this duel.

Rules to the duel.
Respect your opponent. We're here to have fun - if there is a disagreement, we'll resolve the conflict in a professional manner. This means no flaming or harassing behavior. If this is not possible, we'll call in a judge.

This is a T1 fight, which means Preparation, Attack, Defense, and Connection
A. No godmoding. This includes but is not limited to:
1. Ignoring damage.
2. Forcing damage.
3. Metagaming.
4. No teleporting, no mind reading, no use of powers not clearly listed on the character biography.

B. Be somewhere in the realm of logic in your attack/defense/connection.

C. Write using standard forms of grammar. This includes but is not limited to:
1. Proper Paragraphs structure, this means NO wall of text.
2. No Text type, i.e. ur for you're, et al.

My Persona for this duel:

Name: James MacLeod
Alias: The Zwarte Ridder (Black Knight)
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Species: Human

Weapons carried: Two HK-USP .45 automatic pistols with 15 round magazines in tactical holsters on his thighs. He carries 10 extra magazines.

A crimson bladed war sword named Angharad on a dual looped black leather sword belt and sheath wrapped around his waist. The 36” long crimson blade nicked and notched through years of use, while the heavy steel hilt has runes carved in it. The 8” handle allows for both a single and two-handed grip. The sword is 44” long giving him a very effective reach.

He also carries a thick black ballistic shield slung across his back, the shield is comprised of the same constrained ceramic-filled polymer material as his armor.

Class: Navy Seal, Rank: (0-3) Lieutenant 113x-special warfare, United States Navy.

Armor: Zwarte Ridder wears black constrained ceramic-filled polymer tactical combat armor covering his chest/back, arms, legs, hands, and feet, very similar to plate armor that knights wore, but extremely flexible. He wears a black modified full-face knight style great helmet with night vision, thermal and infrared vision enhancers. The armor has a 5 lb. emergency oxygen tank fitted to the small of the back.

Physical Description: 6’1 tall and 232 lbs. Has deep blue eyes and mousey brown hair.

Bio: James MacLeod was a normal kid growing up in Santa Cruz CA, his parents were both blue collar folk who did the best they could to raise their 5 children. James was an excellent student and athlete and enlisted in the Navy SEALs, where he graduated and served his initial 4 years in San Diego, CA.

While on a training mission in Europe with the German GSG9, James and his unit HALO'd into the mission area, however James was cut off from the other three members and quickly became lost. He used his maps and continued walking in the direction he believed the extraction area was. As he did so, he came upon a solitary tower and some ruins. Inspecting the area, he found a way into the tower. At the top, he found the sword, Angharad, when he touched the sword he heard a voice that seemed to echo around him, saying, "Protect the weak, defenseless, helpless, and fight for the general welfare of all."

Taking the sword, James managed to find his way back to the extraction. He managed to smuggle the sword in his gear back to America where he set about working on creating armor similar to what knights wore, however made of the most advanced ceramic polymer materials.

Skills: James is a versatile hand-to-hand combatant and learned the medieval sword fighting styles of the German, Italian, and English knights.

Navy Seal skills:
Sniper, Breaching, Surreptitious Entry, Electronic and Media Exploitation, Technical Surveillance, High Threat Protective Security (PSD), Advanced Weapons Training, Advanced Driving Skills (Urban/Rural/Security), Advanced Climbing/Rope Skills, Advanced Air Operations: HALO/HAHO/Jumpmaster/Parachute Rigger and Packer, Diving Supervisor, Foreign Weapons, Advanced Special Operations.
The writer who cares more about words than about characters, action, setting, atmosphere is unlikely to create a vivid and continuous dream; he gets in his own way too much; in his poetic drunkenness, he can't tell the cart- and its cargo- from the horse.
John Gardner

I agree to the rules Skallagrim and thank you for sparring with me. I would ask that your character does not use his pistols in battle, although armour and sword I think will be fine. (Not even sure if I can request that....but thought I would try.)

Setting: A large rectangular clearing in the forest, in which lies a circular fighting ring. A mere circle of densly packed dirt, yet a stage for some of the fiecest fights ever seen. Used by warriors from near and far to train, end disputes, and test their skills.

Character

Name: Gregory Pierchisten

Age: 28

Height: 5' 10"

Weight: 200

Weapons: Bamboo staff

Appearance: Somewhat shorter then many men, but posesses a thick frame and stature reminiscent of an ox. Wears his blond hair in a short buzz cut, allowing easy sight for his grayish blue eyes as well as respite from the heat of fighting. When fighting he usually wears no top, and a loose pair of white, silken, leg length pants held up by a red silk sash.

Bio: Gregory is of polish descent, growing up working in a mountain side farm where he developed his thick muscles. At the age of twenty-two he decided to travel, to fulfill his lust to see a new land. Boarding the first ship he could find he found himself in China, where he fell in love with martial arts. After studying various techniques he went off to participate in fighting tournaments developing his own unique style along the way. His style, which he calls Ken' Gi, is a sort of fast action boxing style relying on heavy quick blows to incapacitate his opponents, as well as quick footwork to stay out of harms way. He is also skilled in the use of weapons, especially staff weapons.

~~~~~
Gregory took a deep breath his broad chest sucking in the clean forest air like a powerful vacuum. Exhaling slowly he finished a series of stretches he had been using to limber up, after a few test punches, kicks, and jumps he took his stance. Legs spread apart at a slight angle, right leg leading, his fists raised level with his chin, again his right arm leading. "Ok, I'm ready," he said inclining his head slightly to his opponent.
James had tracked several criminals into this forest, hunting drug lords was always interesting, as one never knew what one would discover. As right now, he had come upon a hard packed patch of dirt, with a circle, that reminded James of a fighting ring. The sight of the compact and muscled man caused him to frown a bit; he didn't look like the drug lords or their men. This man looked like he stepped out of Black Belt magazine, and judging by the kata that he completed it appeared he was looking for a fight.
Pursuing his lips a bit, James stepped from the tree edge and approached the circle, his eyes taking the man in, his form and his accoutrements. He appeared to be without any firearms and certain didn't look like the poppy farmers he had been chasing.
Scanning the area quickly with the enhanced vision of the helm, James was satisfied they were alone. Slinging the ballistic shield on his back, checking the guns to secure them in their tactical holsters, and then making sure the war sword was firm in the leather sheath.
James nodded and said, "You sure you want to do this bud?" As he stepped into the ring, he quickly he assumed a stance. His left leg forward, knee bent slightly, the right leg back, both arms raised in a boxers position, the right arm and hand back, elbow tucked in near is ribs, the hand open and held away from his face. The left arm and had up and away from his body, fist closed ready to strike or block.
"Ok champ…lets do this." James said softly.
Gregory frowned slightly, "Great, got yourself into another fight. This guy knows what he is doing to...," he chastised himself under his breath. Shifting his weight slightly for a better footing he looked over his opponent, armour was the first thing he noticed, and lots of it. "Gonna make him slow...," he muttered again, he also registered it would make his blows less effective. Right then, quick was the word and fast was the action he would just have to move quicker and hit harder then this guy if he hoped to win. Side stepping to the right he tensed his muscles and charged forward, his momentum altered quickly into a handless cartwheel, which in turn carried Gregory above his opponent. Rolling 360 degrees he ended upright again still in the air coming downward fist clenched, directed towards his opponents head. The strike was directed towards a pair of goggles attached to the man's helmet, break the eyes, blind the warrior was the idea.
The silk panted man moved to his right, James' left. The bare chest seemed to tense slightly as it did so, James shifted his weight on to the balls of his feet. He came forward in burst of speed, as he did so James tensed his muscles, ready to counter attack, his feet carrying him forward to meet the onrushing figure. Suddenly the man flipped into some sort of modified cartwheel move that would carry him up into a position possibly over James. The movement as pretty as it was had a few drawbacks, first the man was now off his feet, and secondly was in an exposed position.
James had already moved to meet him, as the man began his tumble, James launched a kick as his right leg planted from the forward move, the torso torques as the left leg flashed in and upward to the strike at the tumbling man. The heavy tactical boots should impact with considerable force upon the exposed flesh of the man's upper body, if he timed it correctly the man would suffer a broken rib as they were opened by the tumbling move to the heavy boot.
Whither or not he connected James was already pulling his leg back, placing himself in a guard again, the right leg forward, the left back. The right hand up before his face, the elbow in line with his center mast. The left hand pulled back, the fist in tight against his ribs. "Nice move bub..." James said as he settled again into a stance ready to counter-attack.
Gregroy's cartwheel was never able to be completed. Just as his full weight was concentrated on his right leg ready to spring in the air, a heavy booted foot connected with his right shin. The kick brought Gregory plowing into the ground with a sickening thud, a whoosh of air above him told Gregory he had been spared the misfortune of a blow to the body for a degrading grovel in the dirt. As his opponent pulled his body out of the kick and into a defensive position Gregory twisted both legs into a corkscrew releasing it to send himself flying sideways, hopefully into his opponents legs bringing him to the ground as well. The move was risky, but Gregory hoped his opponent would still be setting his stance and be caught unawares.
As his feet settled, the thump of the martial artist slammed into the ground with a resounding thud. Adjusting his gaze to watch the man ready to strike at him, as he would stand, thus he was surprised when the man spun himself into James legs. The whirling bulk caused James to start to lose his balance, however James just dropped to his knees, launched his left fist up and forward then as James slunk to the ground in a hammer blow into the man's pubic bone, just an inch above his groin. The pubic bone is rather fragile and James' fist would land on the unarmored and exposed pubic symphysis joint, which is where the pubic bones articulate and are connected. The damage would be exhibited through a sudden intense pain. Followed by a tenderness and searing pain down low and would feel as if the pain were inside the bowl cavity.
Many of the movements the man would normally be able to do would be particularly painful as any activity that involved moving one leg at a time would be difficult. The man might even experience a "freezing" and find it hard to move his body right away, as the hipbones would seem stuck in place and would not seem to move. The range of hip movement would be affected by the blow and any abduction of the man's hips would be especially painful.
As his fist would fall on the designated target, James would slam down with his right hand to pin the man's legs squarely under him, exposing that most fragile of spots. Allowing his weight to settle on the legs that had begun the whole mess, "Sorry bud, I don't fight fair…" James grunted as the actions took place.
Gregory felt the man stagger as he collided with his lower leg mass. Unfortunately the man did not go down as intended, instead he reversed Gregory's attack into his own counter attack his fist clenched like a hammer driving downward upon his polish victim. "Sorry bud, I don't fight fair...," the warrior grunted as he swung.
"Thats ok, neither do I," Gregory countered. His roll having ended against the man, Gregory now laid face up his opponents knees almost atop him. Lashing out with his left hand, and pushing upward on his opponent's knee with his right, Gregory attempted to catch the punch driving down on him, if successful he would continue his opponents downward motion although now directed away from him pulling his assailant head over heels while at the same time pulling Gregory into a kneeling position. Perfect positioning to rain down an assault of punches on his enemies face.
Re: Drako11 Vs. Skallagrim (Spar)
Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Skallagrim on Wed Apr 29, 2009 4:14 pm
The smaller man was good but new to this kind of fighting, not honorable, not with flashy moves, but dirty fighting. The kind of fighting where one walked away and one didn't.
The man managed to deflect James' arm away from his groin, not bad, but his exposed knees would be hitting the armor that protected James' legs, it was the hard armor that would connect with the man's knees. Even as James allowed his body to be tugged forward by the desperate grab of the man, in an attempt to redirect his momentum, although how he would pull him head over heels when James was dropping vertically down on him was something one had to ponder.
The man had something in mind, but he didn't account for the hand that was pushing down on his legs, a hand that is free to complete the intended attack. As Jame's right hand connected with the man's leg he pushed down and pinned the leg down, as he did so James allowed the tugged momentum to pull him forward where his weight and the hard armor would come down on the chest and face of the man with a considerable slam. James would work to free his left hand and arm by using the clearly better position where he was able to leverage himself with moves that would pin the man under his weight.
As he leaned into the man, the right hand which had been used to pin the leg down, pushed against the leg, where the elbow would come up then down into the thigh of the man. The elbow would dig deep into the flesh and muscle causing immense pain in the muscle. Even as this was happening James was working to get past the guard of the man and into a dominate position over him.
Re: Drako11 Vs. Skallagrim (Spar)
Gregory's eyes grew wide as he saw his mistake, "Oh shit...," he growled as the ballistic shield followed by the full weight of his opponent crashed down on him quickly driving the air from his lungs and bloodying his face. Stars and black spots flashed before the polish fighter's eyes, then a sharp pain of an elbow slammed into his thick thigh muscles brought him back to the fight. "GAHH!," he bellowed his free leg jerking back in a spasm.
He had to get out from underneath this massive bulk, an number of lethal pins could be used on him now to end the fight. Maybe he could devise his own pin....it would be crude and largely ineffective with the man on top of him but maybe it would give him time to figure out a plan.
Extending his good leg Gregroy used it to wrap around his now deeply bruised one, entwining the armoured arm between them as they locked at the ankles. Gregory's right arm was trapped beneath the crushing ballistic shield along with his face, turning his head sideways he tried to gain some comfort against the massive weight. His left arm however was free having been clutched to the fist of his opponent. Twisting the black covered arm downward and back into a sort of V behind the ballistic shield Gregory strived to pull the arm over to his right hand where he could hold it and complete the lock. The lock is completed would leave Gregory's left arm free, free to work over his opponent. "Christ your a heavy bastard," he growled, a wicked shallow laugh following. It was hard to laugh under so much weight, hard to breath to....
James felt the man's legs shift trying to pin his hand and arm between them, however since his arm was bent at the elbow from the strike to the thigh he shot his arm up and towards the man's ribs, where the armored fist would strike the exposed flesh, right at the floating rib. If James generated enough force from the blow, he could easily break the rib causing the man's breathing to become extremely difficult, especially since he was atop the man.
With the man's feet trying to pin his right arm which was moving, he adjusted his legs and extended his left to bracket the two legs of the man under him. As he did so he felt the man pulling his left arm down in some desperate attempt to pull it away from him. James fought this move, using his strength and better position to keep his arm from being pulled back. Grunting, James laid his weight on the man again, allowing his armored head to grind against the side of the man's head. Letting the helmet to do the damage as it protected James' head from injury, that self same protection would cause pain to the jaw, cheekbone, and ear of the man who had no such protection on his head. If he applied enough pressure, he could shatter the man's eye socket by virtue of the hardness of the helmet grinding against the fragile bone.
"How's that feeling kid? Wanna give up so I get back to what I came here for?" James hissed as he fought to maintain his advantage.
Gregory squirmed, or at least attempted to squirm, the weight crushing down on him felt like a grown horse making it almost impossible to move. He was becoming nervous, was there no way out of this???!! He felt the weight bearing down on him more, and a leg move to pin down his legs. Ahhh lord almighty his face felt like an anvil was being pressed into it, he felt as if his cheek bone would give away any moment.
He struggled with the bent arm of his enemy trying to gain control of the situation. The helm, maybe.... A desperate thought flew through the his mind, it was risky leaving him totally open for attack, but it might work. Releasing his grip with his left hand he shot it forward at the armoured face crushing down on him. His fingers strove to shove the helm up or off his opponents face, the change in light should be quite harsh on his opponent's eyes maybe even blinding him temporarily. The pressure of the helm against his own face made it difficult to budge, the ridges and knobs all dug into his skin brutally, it would be painful but with enough force maybe....maybe it would come off.
His legs also worked at the same time, even with one leg injured they should overpower the foes one. He could then bring his knee up in a rib cracking jab to the side. He knew there was a blow coming to his own side, it was gonna hurt. It came quickly, a crushing blow, it felt like a sledge slamming his rib cage but he didn't think it had broken anything. Now if only he could get the helm off he might be able to turn everything around.
James grunted as the fingers grabbed and pulled at his helmet, pushing up against the lower area of the helm, shoving it as hard as the man could. Even as the hand went to the mask, James could feel the movements of the legs, wrapping them around his leg, trying to get a scissors type move on it. Under the mask James grinned, as he thought, 'Good ahead kid, try and damage me through the armor.'
James moved his extended left leg since he was now past the man's guard, he had both of the man's beneath him, even as the one leg was wrapped around his, James leaned down and onto it allowing the armor to press into it.
His armored fist connected with the exposed ribs of the man, even as the impact caused the muscles and flesh to ripple under the kinetic force, the hand was already moving. Since the man was using his left hand to push the mask, James shot his right hand into the opening towards the man's throat; a heavy closed fist would hammer the exposed larynx. As the man's arm was reaching up to the mask, it caused a natural triangle to happen where his arm reached up and connected with the mask, the bulk of the James' armored body formed the other edge of the triangle. It was within this triangle that would lead to the smaller man's down fall. As it exposed a weakness that he would be hard pressed to avoid, the slow choking death as his air way crushed under the impact of a fist that would strike with a psi (pounds per square inch) force of about 1740, more than enough to crush the larynx.
Even as he threw the punch, James knew that the man had little time to react, little time left to defend himself, perhaps little time left on this earth. The helm was straining against the straps to stay one, even though the desperate attempts of the man to push it off, perhaps if he had more time he might have removed it. However he made a fatal error and one way or another he was about to pay dearly for it.
The helmet was not coming off even when the armoured weight shifted and the helmet rose from Greagory's face. Imprints of the helmets ridges and bumps stood out red and bright against Gregory's face. His legs were getting nowhere in their struggle, it had been a good fight time to end it. Gregory could feel the man tensing for another mighty blow, it would no doubt be released soon. "Stop! I give, you win," Gregory said throwing his arms up to defend his face, better a coward then dead. He had learned a lesson today, think, don't be so rash. He would try to learn from now on to think out his moves before he acted.
James' fist was already in motion when the smaller man surrendered, as the smaller man released his grip and threw his hands to defend his face, James' fist hammered into the dirt near the man's throat. Straightening James looked down at the kid, with a grunt he adjust his helm to bring the chin strap back into position as it had ridden around and lay under his lower lip.
Easing off the man and getting to his feet, James reached down extending a hand, "Good fight bub, good fight."
Gregory took the hand, wiping sweat, blood, and diry from his face with the other. "Thank you, your pretty good yourself. Looking forward to another spar in the future," the polish fighter smiled and giving a salute by way of clenched fist against his chest turned and walked off into the woods. Yes it was a good fight, he would have to do better in the future, he would do better in the future.
