How do I get the perfect screenshot for my avatar?

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby The Protagonist on Thu May 10, 2012 12:47 am

I really feel like a noob for having to ask this but how do I get a screenshot of my character's face for my avatar? I see it all of the time, but I am not so experienced in doing this. I tried to crop the face of my character to 100x100 but it won't work. Could someone please tell me?

I'm not sure what you mean by getting a screenshot. For all of my characters, what I do is take the original picture and then open up the picture on my computer with some form of photo editor. If you're using a PC running Windows, Microsoft Office Picture Manager is built in and easy to use. Using that program, I just resize the picture by typing in 100 pixels by 100 pixels.

If you're still having trouble, let us know.

If you have a Mac, hitting Shift + Command + 4 will give you the ability to drag/click a specific area for your photo. That's how I do it, but Jag's method works equally well. Any photo editing software can do this for you, as well as multiple online resources.

I can resize it easily but what I mean is, how do I get a screenshot with just the character's face and not his/her entire body?

I'm assuming that you're running Windows like me. If that's the case, you need to crop the same picture using the same editing software. Just crop it down to the area that you want to use as the picture and make sure that it is a square. Once you've cropped it, then resize it to 100x100. That should do it.
