Life-Changing Books

Have you ever read a book that, for one reason or another, significantly changed how you view the world?

Mine was Asimov's Foundation Trilogy (I refuse to admit that there are more than three Foundation novels). I'd just finished reading the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, and here was a trilogy that gave a science-fictionalized account of that period of history.

Psychohistory, the keystone of the novels, is tempting, as well. The idea of using math and psychology to predict the future of a civilization is appealing, although probably impossible.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. :) It gave me hope when I'm felt down.

Before reading the Principia Discordia I was an angry atheist with a slight interest in occultism. After reading it, I understood a lot more (especially religion), and mellowed out a lot.

I donā€™t know if I can say it changed me, but it did put a lot of existing pieces in their right places. I already liked to say ā€œconfusion is good, it means youā€™re about to learn somethingā€ before reading it.
I can keep myself sane because Iā€™ve got my candy gun!

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley never has a book left me so broken and shattered, but that books ending, it just destroyed me, and made realize a lot.

Sati by Christopher Pike. Just amazing never have I seen such a thought-provoking book.
We help the multi-nationals
when they cry out protect us.
The locals scream and shout a bit,
but we donā€™t let that affect us.
Weā€™re here to lend a helping hand
in case they donā€™t elect us.
How dare they buy our products
yet still they donā€™t respect us.

xucumbersome: High five!
Everybody! Unless you have been in a roleplay with me in the past and were loyal to it, do not PM or text me about joining your RP.

I do NOT do Pokemon, Yugioh, WoW or any such RPs.

Please be aware of this.
