Re: Roleplayer's Timeline

Greets, From a technical prospective, this is all pretty great, except this: 2003 ~ Literate RP becomes popular on Gaia, lagging greatly behind the rest of the RP world Now, I appreciate you all seem to have a fond dislike for Gaia, but this is a wee bit... I don't know... biased, don't you think? F...

Re: Anyone heard...

I didn't mean to sound as harsh as I did, sorry. I just reread it after seeing your own post. I'm just pointing out that the majority of debate is the changing of opinions. Eh, when everyone stands around preaching, yeah, it's true, it's best to take a standpoint where nobody is supposed to change t...

Re: Anyone heard...

There's a problem with that. Part of the point of a debate is to change opinions, Spring. And part of growing as a person is being a dynamic individual capable of forming new or different opinions. By entering into a debate with the sentiment of, "don't try to change my mind, and I won't try to...

Re: Voices- The Tale of a Net Diver (recent)

I've seen some people do some weird stuff with their writing, so I was just shotgunning. I didn't take anything off style or mechanics because of the comma/hyphen spacing, but you make a good point. I dunno why I thought it wasn't an error. Regardless, formating is key to actually getting people to ...

Re: Voices- The Tale of a Net Diver (recent)

Like everything else I seem to do on the web, I have probably overkilled on this when you were just looking for a general opinion on the work. Nonetheless, hopefully you'll take it as a compliment because it takes time to write reviews. So much time, in fact, that I'm late for class and don't have t...

Re: Anyone heard...

I see, Ghost. That's a very good point, and I have to agree. I'm not Catholic myself, but I would be displeased if I were. With that perspective in mind, I think he would've been better had he proposed these less as "deadly sins" and more as some guidelines for society to consider. Stressi...

Re: Anyone heard...

I guess most people are going to respond negatively to this list, but in defense of it the views on environmentalism, social injustice, and poverty are all fairly noble. Mocking them just because they come out of a religious establishment seems ridiculous. At least the Catholic church is attempting ...

Re: A Humble Proposal

I know I'm a total newbie who probably doesn't deserve to say anything on the matter, seeing as my stay on here is currently measured less in days and more in hours. However, I just love putting my opinions out there. Back in Neverwinter Nights (where I roleplayed a fair bit), a situation that Ghost...

Re: Would you.

Here's how it works:

Strangers are people who ask me if I want a million dollars or a new credit card. Anyone else that I have a chance of interacting with for an extended period of time is an acquaintance. It's more friendly than it sounds.

Re: Characters:Constructs, Beings, or Extensions of Personality?

All of my characters are constructs. Many of them are so foreign from me that, if I were to encounter them in real life, I may go as far as to despise them as a person because their values are so foreign. I also happen to think this is the strongest way to play a character, because I've passed throu...

Re: Greets

That was my primary concern, and thanks for clearing it up, Ghost. I'm not concerned with whether or not roleplays terminate at a definite point or if they continue on persistently, I just think you need more than ten pages to really get something worthwhile going on with actual character developmen...

Re: Question!!!

Most ideas roleplays are based on are too vague to genuinely be protected by international copyright laws. They're just too vague to be ultimately unique. This isn't to say they don't lend themselves to good roleplay, but it's true what Akishra says about most of the premises of roleplays. This, of ...

Digital Rights Management

I've done some reading on Digital Rights Management in my spare time, so I wrote this. It might be a good read if you're into knowing about Windows Vista, digital copyright, or about digital media in general: Another common criticism concerns the integration of new forms of digital rights management...

Re: Would you.

Since I'm a good boy and don't talk to strangers like my mommy told me to when I was an itsy bitsy little boy, I'd probably give the guy a harsh stare and then keep walking. Or shut the door. I truly hate being solicited.

Re: How old-school are you?

Of course there are other people out there like you. There are also people out there who feel they are in a similar situation and have an entirely different set of circumstances. I don't think you're as far from the social normal as you think, though. Regardless, I'm seventeen. I fail at being old s...

Re: Greets

Well, it's been a nice, long time since someone's given me a Fishy Stick. Though, if I can ask a question, or more state the concern of a newbie, the lifespan of the roleplays here seems relatively short. Is this generally true, or am I just being mislead by my lurking?
