Re: Unknown setting roleplay?

As I read the RP descriptions out there, it seems like the setting and story are more driven by the characters people create; people like to have a chance to be someone new that they've taken time to develop. I think I'd need more experience running RPG's online to find the right balance, so I'm not...

Re: A few of my favorite quotes - What's yours?

One more Neil Gaimin quote that I love: "It's not easy to believe." "I," she told him, "can believe anything. You have no idea what I can believe." "Really?" "I can believe things that are true and I can believe things that aren't true and I can believe t...

Re: Sport Support

I used to be into all of the local teams, and got very excited when they won. Ever since I left my hometown, though, my sport supporting has waned. Strangely enough, I was backing Vancouver (not where I'm from) when they played the Rangers in 1994, but I was following hockey back then. These days, I...

Re: A few of my favorite quotes - What's yours?

God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of his own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players [i.e., everybody], to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite sta...

Unknown setting roleplay?

There's a style of fiction that I thought would make for very interesting roleplaying, but I don't know how it would be set-up. Basically, in shows like Lost, The Prisoner, Missing Persons, etc. ordinary (or perhaps not so ordinary) people are put into uncanny circumstances. This seems like it would...

OK, so it's based on a reasonable historical facsimile.

Re: Space 1889 (Nation Game)

This game sounds very interesting to me. I have a passing familiarity with the original Space 1889 game, and this approach you're implementing seems like it would be a lot of fun. I'm new to online RPG's, and this would be my first NG as well, so I might not be your ideal player. I did have a questi...

Re: Pet Peeves. We All Have Them. Hehe.

I can't stand chewing in commercials. It's bad enough in person, where it can be annoying but inadvertent. With a commercial, someone INTENDED me to hear every miserable, gnawing sonic instance.

Intro

Hi all, I' m a newbie here, and I figured I'd get my feet wet with an intro. I haven't done role playing of any sort in years, and it was always of the IRL variety. I'm not quite sure what the best way to get started here would be. I find the idea of Nation role playing interesting, along with other...
