The Orphanage

The kids there aren't all normal. Some can do things that others can't, some look different... Some are even of a different species all together.
But no matter what they can or cannot do, or what they look like, they are brought together by one thing.
They have no family. Or atleast, no parents to take care of them. They all live in The Orphanage.

Rules

- Characters:
Kids in The Orphanage must be 5-17.
At the age of 18, they are legal adults and no longer allowed to live at The Orphanage. Children younger than 5 years old are kept in the nursery.
Staff can be anywhere from 20-50

- Violence and Romance is allowed, but keep it to a PG-13 level.

- No godmoding.
Control your Character(s), and Only Your Character(s).
No one is perfect. Make sure your Character has some weaknesses and flaws.

- You may have up to 2 Characters.

- You can break the house rules... Just don't get caught. ;]
If caught, you could get grounded.

About The Orphanage

The Orphanage is a building of 4 stories;; On the first floor is The Kitchen, The Dining Hall, The Classrooms, And A big room that's basically a living room, but bigger. On the second floor is The Nursery and the rooms of the Teachers and other Staff. The third floor is the Girls' Dorms, and the top floor is the Boys' Dorms.

House Rules

- Be in your own room by curfew.
Curfew is 8pm for children younger than 10, 9:30pm for kids 11-13, and 11pm for kids 14-17.

- Kids are allowed out of their rooms starting at 6am.
The Staff come around and knock on the doors yelling at 7:30am -- WakeUpCall.

- All children old enough to go to school must.
The children go to school in The Orphanage, unless otherwise arranged.

- Every Sunday, all the kids get allowance.
Kids 5-7 get $5.
Kids 8-11 get $10
Kids 12-14 get $15
Kids 15+ get $20

- No loud noises or wandering around after Curfew.

- No rough-housing around children under 10years old.

- Do not destroy others’ property.

- No purposeful self-harm or harm of others.

- If caught violating any of the house rules, you will be Grounded.
If Grounded, your curfew is set 1 hour early, you will receive no allowance for the week(s) you are Grounded, you will not be allowed off The Orphanage property at any hour, and you will be restricted from any class trips.

Personality: Mandalinn is very protective, and kinda shy. She doesn't like sleeping alone. She is kinda of afraid of commitment, but also very afraid of abandonment. When she get's sad, she is most comfortable in her animal form. She doesn't like to cry in front of people, and is afraid of her own tears. She loves the way it looks outside at night when the clouds are gone after it having rained all day, the sky is full of stars, and there is a cresent moon. She doesn't like sitting still for too long, and often taps her fingers or shakes her legs up and down. She is very hands on, and hugs people a lot, hold hands with her friends, and likes being "tooclose" to the people she loves. When she's hyper, she's extremely random.

Brief Bio: Mandalinn is one of the few people at The Orphanage that remembers her parents. She was 4 when her mother died in a car wreck. A few days later, her father, unemployed and unsure of what to do with a child, dropped her off on the front step of The Orphanage, knocked on the large doors loudly, then drove off.

Personality: Justin is a shy boy, in the sense that he doesn't like giving information about himself. His favorite thing to do is fly, although he can only do it around The Orphanage. He hates having a curfew, since night, when the world is asleep, is the only time he can fly free. He sneaks out a lot. Justin likes foreign languages, especially Italian, and although he doesn't know much, he will take any oppurtunity to use the lagnuage. He's tall, standing 6'4", so he's easy to spot, even in large groups. Plus the fact that he has large white wings, he stands out. A lot.

Brief Bio: Justin has lived at The Orphanage for all but the first few days of his life. His mother had died giving birth to him, and no one knew who the father was. The doctors didn't even know his mother's last name, so they had no way to find his family, if any existed. When they were washing up, they noticed that he seemed to have very small, white wings. The doctors were mystified, and some started calling scientists and the like, but one doctor, a young woman who had grown up in The Orphanage, took the liberty of taking care of things. She dropped him off at The Orphanage as soon as she could.

Personality: It's a bit weird. Her power is extreme intelligence and psychokinesis, but she's still a little girl. While she is really smart, she is naive and trusting. She's happy-go-lucky, and doesn't really care too much. She's usually happy and kind, but sometimes it's like there's another personality in her that is callous and uncaring. Sometimes, that personality takes over for awhile, and she is generally nasty to everybody.
Brief Bio: She is about 9, so she has no memories of her parents. As far as she knows, she was born in the orphanage and had no parents to begin with. In actuality, her father had died weeks after her mom was pregnant, and her mom died in childbirth. The hospital just dropped her off there.

Personality: Sardonic, affectionate, comfortable, easily aggravated. Emmy likes to spend time alone, but after so long without company she practically goes insane. She likes to write, and sometimes read when she manages to find a good book.
Brief Bio: Emily-Jane was born on December 31st, the first child to Phil and Elaine McKenzie. She was always a winter person, born around the holidays. They seemed to be the perfect family, living in a middle class part of town in a small but cozy house, just the three of them. But as the years went by and Emmy grew older, she noticed more arguments forming between her parents. When she was 12, she found out that her mother had been cheating on her father with a man from her work, and it had been going on for quite some time and she wanted a divorce. The man already had a daughter, so Emmy's mother assumed her and his child would get along great despite the circumstances.
They moved in with the new family, away from Emmy's birth father. Over the periodic visits, he began to get sick, and finally when Emmy turned 15, he died. She was devastated.
It went alright for the first few months, except the fact that the two girls didn't really get along. Fights began to break out with the parents again, and it was like a flashback for Emmy. Did her mother just have a flair for drama?
One night, the man who her mother had remarried pulled a gun on her mother during a big argument. He didn't mean to really shoot her... but it happened. The shot killed her almost instantly, and he was sent to prison. The two girls were sent to the Orphanage not long after.

Ever since her biological mother left, she has been more and more rebellious, using her "powers" for the worst, not for good. She loathes her half-sister Emily-Jane.

Personality:Haylee has aspergus syndrome. But it has different effects on different people. It is way different on Haylee though. It changes everyday. Some days her emotions just get a bit out of control, others her body won't actually fuction properly and she can hardly do anything. You would just think that Haylee is a weirdo when you first meet her just because she has aspergus. If so you dislike her because she has aspergus syndrome, she will get very angry at you.
Brief Bio: Haylee was dropped off at the Orphange when she was 2. Haylee was in a carcrash with her parents and only she survived. Haylee doesn't remember much about her parents and doesnt like to try and think about them.

The Bakenshe are a race of people descended from the Bakeneko who interbred with the Banshee. An identifying trait of the race is their feline grace as well as their extremely slow aging.
The specie is also prone to being born with unusual hair colors or white or light blond hair that is streaked with multiple colors. They also often have odd eye-coloring.
They are also known for their ability to smell death coming.

Namine has definitely learned that. She has been to many an orphanage and still has not been adopted.
Born in Berlin, Germany, Namine is considered German. Her parents did not mean to have a child, especially a Bakenshe. Her mother took Namine and abandoned her at an orphanage in California before returning to Germany to live with her Bakeneko husband.
So began the tale of a Bakenshe orphan.

Personality: Jenny is known for being sarcastic. She is very blunt and will speak her mind. She likes to say that she is brutally honest. She is very creative and loves music. She is fairly stubborn and once she has her mind made up there is no changing it. She doesn't care what people think of her. She likes to live for the moment.
Brief Bio: Jenny doesn't really remember to much about her past. She barely remembers her own parents. They both died in a house fire when she was three years old. The cause of the house fire was unknown. Jenny was pulled out of the house by the neighbors kid. He had been playing outside with some friends. Once he saw the house on fire he ran inside to try to help. He ended up only being able to help Jenny. To this day Jenny thinks it was her fault because of her powers. She was sent away along with one of her friends, Lucas who lost his family around the same time.

He is pretty laid back and likes to just go with the flow. But if you get him mad, avoid him at all costs. He is not someone to be messed with and his temper is horrible. Only a few people actually know how to calm him down. However, he takes a lot for him to get mad. But when it happens, it's pretty bad. But he is trying to work on that.
Brief Bio: Luke was four years old when he lost his parents. They were killed while they were on a family vacation in a cabin. He had been running in his wolf form when he heard gun shots. He ran back to the cabin to find his parents both dead. They had been shot to death and blood was everywhere. After the police were called he was being sent away. The only good thing is that he was going to be with his friend, Jenny. He still wants to know who murdered his parents and wants to get revenge. He gets frustrated about his parents death and tends to work out his frustration.

Personality: Zach is sweet and helpful, he believes the kids that live in The Orphanage have had a rough enough life and don't need all the rules, punishment, and grief they get here. Being a shapeshifter himself, he has quite a soft spot for everyone like him. Though he may be kind and loving, if you get on his bad side you better watch out... Gecko's can be tricky little buggers!
Brief Bio: As a child, Zachary had a loving family. Mother, father, little sister, older brother.... They were the model family, went to church every Sunday, kids got good grades, father a large business man. Zachary had everything..
Until he started running around at night as a Gecko.
The first time he changed he was being scolded by his father and he was angry, running through the door, he suddenly was flying through the air as a small lizard. He kept it quite a good secret, but soon his life was so much more secret from his family, closed off, a mystery....Once he turned 18, he left. Losing his family, his history, his roots. Now he works at the orphanage where he can be himself, though in order to help the children in his sneaky way, he tries to keep the staff members from finding out his shifted identity.

Personality: Annezzy is loud, but quiet at the same time. She loves to sing, and writes poetry. She only trusts those that have earned it, and loves with all of her heart; though she doesn't love often. Once someone becomes her friend, they're gonna be friends for life. She likes her personal space and hates when anyone touches her legs. Hates it.
Brief Bio: When she was very young, her father died and her mother became and alcoholic. A mean alcoholic. After two years of being beaten, cussed at, scarred and hurt... Annezzy ran. She ran as far as she could and would have made it far away if not for being attacked by... something. She lied on the ground for afew days until someone found her, no one knew who she was because she had made it many towns away... When asked about her parents she said they were dead. For the last four years she's been at the orphanage that has become the best home she's ever had. Her only problems now are curfew and trying to control her thirst for blood, flesh and death....
