Dead Drift

Introduction

Rules
1. Before I even begin anything else people should know this roleplay is intended for mature and relatively literate roleplayers meaning you should be comfortable with reading and writing in an adult styled format, cursing and extreme violence will be common, if that is not for you please just leave now. That being said, while cursing, romance, and such is accepted and in fact encouraged, please don’t go overboard, if you curse nonstop I will stop you… If you want more than suggested ‘adult’ sexual things go to pm, I really don’t want to read the details… Doubt anyone else does either.

2. God-modding or anything I deem bullshit will not be tolerated, now I am pretty laid back when it comes to roleplaying, it is about fun, that being said think of
every players fun, not just your own. You should know what god-modding is, just don’t do it.

3. If you’re going to be gone for awhile please tell someone, if not after about 48 hours you will be assumed to have quit. We want this story to progress and I hate leaving people behind… Though I will because you can only 'chat' for so long in a horror rp before it becomes very dull.

4. Minimum of 300 words, it is not that hard to write that many words, but I know it can be difficult sometimes. Nothing will happen if you post under when you’re stuck on that rare occasion but if you always post under, you will be asked to try and be more descriptive or whatever before being kicked. I find when one person responds with a bad post then others get bored because they have very little to work with.

5. You must use the skeleton provided, if you want to add something, ask, I may like the idea. But it must be completely filled out, I will deny it if it isn’t complete (If you’re worried about losing a spot, reserve it, if you character is good I would be willing to wait to start.)

6. Ok so GM word is law. For one, people will be dying, half or more, who knows but it will happen. That can be achieved in three ways, you write yourself out (Basically you kill yourself in an epic way or something of the sort *Please alert a GM before, we want it to be worked in if you use this option.*), you can be killed by another player but avoid god-modding, you cannot just kill another player it has to happen in a way that makes sense (That being said it is a two way street, one player cannot auto hit, the other cannot always dodge, a lot of times it comes down to creativity and writing ability.), and of course the GM can kill a character for doing something that warrants it. Of course not everyone will die, that would be boring so just have fun. (Co-GM is the Illusionist if I am not online his word is law.)

7. Lastly just remember, this is a roleplay with a beginning AND an ending, come only if you plan on seeing it through. Not that I will hate you or something if you don’t but I would love it if this was successful and every player was striving for the ending, not just here to play around a bit and leave. I feel like if everyone wants to essentially ‘win’ the roleplay they will play more interesting characters and really think about what they do.

Background
It is the year 2072, space exploration is at its peak and migration to newly developed colonies has never been greater. People from various planets traveling to new colonies, in search of a dream, that up until recently was impossible. For whatever reason, you have decided to travel to Verinor, a new colony on the edge of your galaxy. Your method of transportation is the government transport cruiser the Ragnarok, a ship that embodies all of the recent technological advancements. You are one of the few being transported using cryogenic technology, you and a few others are in one of two cryogenic rooms, the rest of the three thousand passengers will be traveling in common quarters. The two month journey that most of the passengers will be enduring will only seem like mere moments for you.

Unfortunately, the Ragnarok will never make it to Verinor…

Ship Log for the trip to Verinor

Week 1: The passengers have been settled in and we have begun our trip, nothing out of the ordinary. System checks have come back normal, all systems are operational, hopefully things will stay this way and we will reach our destination ahead of schedule. This ships maiden voyage is going better than we ever expected.

Week 2: A small discretion between the crew and the mercenaries traveling on board, we are trying to resolve the issue without incident. The mercenaries are traveling to the new colony in force; a conflict with them during the trip would be troublesome, even with the military force of the Ragnarok, for now we will continue to monitor them. Other than that the trip is still progressing well, currently continuing ahead of schedule.

Week 3: The discretion with the mercenary forces has become problematic; they assaulted and severely injured one of the guards on C deck. The commander is afraid if left unchecked this could become more than a small problem, they had been sequestered to quarters and isolated from the other passengers in the below decks. Still ahead of schedule.

Week 4: Last strike for the mercenaries, they have been segregated further; the section of the ship they were sequestered to was locked down. They don’t seem to be resisting the lockdown but guards have been posted. Now behind schedule.

Week 5: We have come across a distress signal slightly off our projected path, the commander has deemed it necessary to make a detour and investigate the signal. The Ragnarok has been rerouted and will reach the destination within the week. The schedule has been placed on standby.

Week 6: We reached the signal today, a message seems to be on loop: “If you are picking up this message please come and render us aid. This is the ship Nimbus, we have lost all power to our engines, we lack the means to repair the damage ourselves, time is of the essence.” We have decided to investigate.

Week 7- Day 1: A team has just boarded, on initial sweep no crewmembers were found, alive or otherwise, and the engines seem to be completely fine. Continuing sweep but something seems to be off here.

Week 7- Day 2: We have lost communication with team 1, another team has been sent in to see if maybe it is a problem with the subspace communications on the derelict ship, hopefully they will be able to identify and resolve the problem so we can continue the search of the ship.

Week 7- Day 3: Nothing has been found to be wrong with the communication, team 1 is still missing. I have decided to join another team and investigate the ship myself, will report back in a few hours...

Week 7- Day 6: I haven’t been able to reach a terminal in several days, but everything has gone to shit. Something had changed all of the people on the Nimbus, whatever happened has started to spread, nobody knows how but we have brought one of the dead subjects to the medical bay and are investigating the source of the change.

Week 7- Day 7: The autopsy showed us a massive change in the genes; these once ordinary humans have been changed into something else. One of the doctors theorized that it was some sort of infection but no evidence was found to support him and no method of transferring the ‘illness’ has been discovered.

Week 8- Day 1: Things are getting worse, the infection continues to spread and our study of the ‘patients’ has been fruitless, save the fact that they seem to be
instinctual and apparently rely on cannibalism as a source of food.

Week 8- Day 2: Further study of the patients has given us a better understanding of what is being done to them. They seem to be able to function without as much oxygen as a regular human, this allows them to perform physical tasks at a much higher proficiency. They seem to have reverted in intelligence to more of a savage nature and show signs of physical change.

Week 8- Day 3: …

Week 8- Day 4: Nothing is going right, I don’t know exactly what is going on but the infection or whatever the hell you want to call it has spread beyond containment. Me and a few others are trying to escape but haven’t moved from this location in awhile, they seem to be cornering us, they are smarter than we thought...

-End Log-

Technology of Dead Drift
The technology is moderately more advanced than modern days, having the ability to travel in space at a sub-light speed. Military, medical, and general technology is all more advanced but nothing ridiculous. For the most part weapons will be rare, or at least conventional guns will be, instead this roleplay will focus on hand made weapons from things you find lying around. That does not mean you will be without guns completely. For example if you find a gun assume it has no ammo in it and if it does please use ammo sparingly. As for medical tech and general tech, assume slightly more advanced but the general looks of things will be very similar to modern tech. Key word her, all of the tech is ‘refined’.

Silas Grey

"Shit."
"No, no, no, no.." Silas could not believe what was happening. Four of the evil bastards, and they weren't even out of the first goddamn room. Gathering up his energy, he tightened up to the group for safety, and joined the leader fellow in his sprint to the quarters. A huge, possibly dark room filled with dead bodies sounded horrible, but it couldn't be any worse than getting ripped apart by a real threat.

According to the man, they had weapons. He had always felt that man's intelligence was the thing that seperated him from beasts. We were the top of the food chain, because we had the X factor. Thank God for opposable thumbs and sentience. If these things had that, then what were they going to do now? Looking down at his puny little Swiss Army knife, he doubted it now, against a spear. He noticed, now, that he had gotten twitchy again. He had taken his last pill only a couple hours ago. Minutes? Seconds? He wasn't sure anymore, in this godforsaken, horrible rusty piece of shit. Reaching the room, he took a place beside the leader of the ragtag group. He realized that he was slightly in front of the group. Odd, considering he wasn't in the best mood. He had left Kara, the closest thing to a friend (basically the farthest thing from a stranger in the nameless crowd), behind when he sprinted to the door. So consumed in terror, he hadn't noticed. Come to think of it, he wasn't sure if she had taken that energy bar or not. Looking into, his bag, he couldn't remember what he had started with.

In the seconds that passed as people clued in and began to sprint toward the doorway, he tried counting. It usually chilled him out, unless the numbers were bad. Then it made it worse. He counted the droplets of blood on the floor beside the closest body (or where the body would have been, if it hadn't been dragged off). 5. That's a bad number. He stooped down and wiped up one of the droplets. 4 was a good number, divisible down to 2. He could have made it into 6, but it divided to 3, not so great. Looking at the leader, he tried counting things, but realized it would look odd, him staring deeply into a strangers face, trying to count scars or blemishes. Instead, he popped another purple pill Shit, 58 left, and he'd taken two so quickly and asked the stranger, "So, what's your name? How old are you, by the way? This is of utmost importance to me."

Yurichi Strizonvek

Yurichi had been sitting with her eyes closed, breathing in some much needed air when she felt someone plop down beside her. She could tell that the small shaky form was the woman who had helped her out of the godforsaken room, Alexandria. She peered down at her though she could only guess what the others face looked like, her body type was easy for Yurichi to see the outline of but the finer features were blurred, she couldn't even tell you if the other woman had two eyes or not.

"Sorry if I'm bothering you..." She said softly as she pulled her knees up to her chest, for a time they both sat in silence the only sound being the Russians heavy breathing which gradually got softer and calmer as the seconds trickled past. Yurichi heard a soft noise come from the other woman, she could tell it was a noise of fear so she draped an arm over her small shoulders to calm her nerves, even just a little bit.

Then there was that click, Yurichi had forgotten what it meant and looked around the short hall, though she remembered when she heard the captains voice once again. “Announcement guys. I know it must be a leisurely stroll walking through the blood filled room with all of the dead bodies, but you have a few of the creatures coming your way, about 4. Doesn’t sound like much but you’re not ready for them so I advise you relocate yourselves as soon as you can. That will be all”,
at this Yurichi frowned once again, this man gave the Russian the creeps with his cheery tone when giving bad news. Though she herself didn't really grasp the seriousness until the next part was added,
“By the way, they are already in the hallway which you came from…”,
"Don't you think that information was vital enough to start off with?" Yurichi hissed irritably as she stood up from her spot, two boys already running past towards the next room. She was about to follow along quickly behind them when she remembered the scared girl by her feet, thinking quickly she scooped Alexandria up bridal style and rushed toward the next room. She could smell the blood as she got close, but there was no decay in there so she decided to stop inside the door rather then outside with the boys. Being sure to start breathing out of her mouth as she did so.

She figured it best to set the other down on her feet now that they were in the bloody room, though she kept her arms around the other woman. The Russian guessed that Alexandria had never been in a situation like this before, so she knew she must be terrified. But now that Yurichi thought about it, no one had ever been in a situation like this before; in a war you are surrounded by soldiers, you know exactly what to do due to specific and detailed orders, you either have trenches to hide in away from enemy fire or a home base to return to after the battle, you also were provided with food and water and proper weapons and if everything went to shit you would be recalled and return home, but most importantly you were fighting other humans who were no more advanced then yourself. This situation however; you are surrounded by misfits (though most of which seemed to be military anyway), you sort of knew what to do and where to go due to vague orders from the captain, you are stuck on a one way path with few deviations or places to hide, you didn't know if or when you would be able to stop to eat and drink, if everything went to shit it would be certain death and most importantly you were up against blue mutants which had all the weapons and traps and air vents to hide in or escape through.

It was then Yurichi fully realised how little chance she had of living. 'Well...' she thought 'If I have to die I am taking those fuckers down with me,'.

Ark Mason

At the sound of the Russian woman's sharp retort, a grim smile came to Ark's face. The woman's attitude was a poor mask for her fear. At least she seems to be coping mentally, he thought to himself. He grimaced as he took one last look around the room before going to stand by the group's impromptu leader at the room's exit. Suddenly he heard the captain's voice over the intercom, “Announcement guys. I know it must be a leisurely stroll walking through the blood filled room with all of the dead bodies, but you have a few of the creatures coming your way, about 4. Doesn’t sound like much but you’re not ready for them so I advise you relocate yourselves as soon as you can. That will be all” There was a joking tone in his voice. Glad at least one of us is having fun, Ark thought to himself. “By the way, they are already in the hallway which you came from…” That got him going. Those things would be on them in moments, as a number of people bolted for the next area, Ark spared a glance back at the people still pussy-footing around the overflow quarters. He gave an urgent wave to get them moving, not wanting to make noise that could provoke or attract more of the creatures, then quickly and quietly made his way over to where the others were gathering.

There was a fair amount of blood in the room, but no bodies. Instead, there were more drag marks. The Russian woman had apparently carried another woman into the room and was setting her down now. That didn't bode well for the other woman's survival chances. It was too early to be depending on other people to carry you. If all it took was blood and corpses to immobilize her, well she was going to need to be carried around a lot at this rate. But there was no time to worry about that, the neurotic man had apparently decided that now of all times was when he would be social, trying to start a conversation with the man who was leading them around the ship. "So, what's your name? How old are you, by the way? This is of utmost importance to me." Was this guy trying to get them killed? Not only was he just chatting away while the monsters responsible for murdering most of the ship were approaching, but it was just idle chatter too. Maybe he could wait until after they got away from the murdering bastards to have a casual conversation? Ark roughly prodded the man in the chest to get his attention and glared daggers at him, drawing his pinched fingers across his mouth in the universal signal for 'SHUT THE FUCK UP DUMBASS!' Ark didn't usually get impatient with civilians, but in a situation like this, he couldn't have one strung-out tweaker putting everybody else in danger. He saw the man was holding a small swiss army knife, he hoped the guy didn't do anything stupid.

Heather Bowman

Oh god. It was so horrible looking. And that wasn't the only one. There were more, crawling through the vents, creeping though the halls. It scared Heather enough that she was shaking like a wet puppy. She didn't want to die. Like hell she didn't want to die. It was so frightening a thought. Especially in such a foreign way. She'd never dreamed of being killed by such an odd creature. Admittedly, she wished that if she'd die, she'd die in a more...familiar way.

A few long moments passed before Heather realized that she was standing alone. She tore her gaze from the body and looked around, confused. Everyone was on the other side of the room. Wobbly, Heather began to make her way over to them. People were running for the door, and one woman picked up another and carried her. One of the men gave a wave to the people that were still close to where Heather was. Heather's face reflected her confusion. "What is going on? Is something happening."

Heather stood uncertainly, looking around. Why did she always have to be left out of these things, these announcements. She couldn't hear, so she didn't know. And ignorance wasn't always bliss. Right now it was making fear well in the pit of her belly. But she didn't know if she should stay with those that were over where she was or run over to where a few had gathered. It wasn't fair. First she'd gotten stuck on this stupid ship that she hadn't even wanted to come on, now she was trapped on the ship with virtually no escape, now she was missing out on all the important stuff.

"I don't understand." Heather said quietly. She sighed heavily. It just wasn't fair. How could this happened to her?

Zane Riddle

As people arrived at the door one man, the one he had been observing with caution earlier was acting a bit odd, though even in this short amount of time Zane had picked up that being odd was not unusual for this particular person. "So, what's your name? How old are you, by the way? This is of utmost importance to me." "Zane, 25, now shut up..." he muttered just loud enough for the man to hear him but being quiet nonetheless. Soon three more people came, the Russian female who was carrying another woman, and the man who had introduced himself as Ark, that still left quite a few people who hadn't quite taken the danger of the situation seriously or who were so panicked right now that they didn't have the ability to move in a quick and concise manner, which made sense if you thought about it, not all of them had any experience in any dangerous scenarios, much less one of this magnitude where so many had died and the creatures which had done it were on their way. Zane continued ushering people towards the doorway so they could escape what was coming, but then he noticed one girl lagging behind who looked more confused than scared, an odd reaction to the news they had received. It was only then that it struck him, she was the girl who couldn't hear, how had he let that fact slip his mind?

Zane looked at the group which had already made it across the hall and then ran over to the other side to the rest of them, unfortunately some seemed frozen by fear not moving at all and just standing in the room. He had to make sure he warned the one girl though, she wasn't even aware that something was about to come from the hallway behind him, she was probably more scared than any of them. So he quickly rushed away from the door, away from the safety, and over to the girl. He made sure she could see his lips when he spoke, "What killed these people is coming from the hallway we came through. We must go, come with me." he said managing to keep his cool and not yell it despite his slight panic over the situation, of course if he had yelled it probably wouldn't have mattered but he wanted to be sure and keep his voice down as not to increase the creatures pace, he was sure if the creatures heard him they would move faster. He then turned to the others who were still lagging behind, he couldn't save them all, he didn't have the means to carry them or lead them all out. "Move unless you want to die..." he said before grabbing the deaf girls hand and moving quickly back towards the first civilian room where the others would be waiting. He was being careful not to let her fall but at the same time he was moving a bit fast, urgency only to be expected in such a situation as this. He didn't release her hand until they were not only across the hall but he ran past the two men outside of the door and went right inside of in the first civilian quarters room. He then turned to her and spoke once more so she could see. "Just stick close to someone, you can follow me if you like, I will make sure you know what is going on next time..." he said and if she could hear his voice she would have realized he was feeling back for leaving her behind in the first place. He hated the idea that he, and seemingly everyone else, was so out for themselves at this point that they had left her behind without even a hint of a clue to what was going on. He just hoped that he would see some of the others he hadn't been capable or dragging out soon as well.

Silas Grey

"Zane, 25, now shut up..." the stranger, Zane now, had responded. Silas would have been put off in any other circumstance, but he was too far into the OCD to care. Zane was four letters, pretty good. 25 was not good, and combining the two made it 29, even worse. Splitting that, it was 14 ad 15. 14 was okay, but it divided into 7. 7 was an odd number, but not one of the worst. Thinking up a storm of troubling numbers, he was snapped out of his reverie by a sharp jab to the chest. The poker was an angry sort of man, and made an angry hushing gesture. What the.. why was this man so severe? Not like they were trying to hide. People were still beginning to run. Silas raised his head, glaring back at the man. He noticed him look down at the pocketknife, almost nervously. Fuck. People were starting to think he was crazy. Lovely. Ignorant pricks don't understand what OCD is? I am a goddamn certified genius. Literally. Maybe he wanted to act crazy, maybe he could screw around with these people, if need be. He threw the knife from hand to hand, grinning creepily at the rude man. This is why he didn't like people, they tended to overreact and act like asses. Zane suddenly took off running towards the deaf woman, urging her to hurry to the relative safety of the quarters.

Silas noticed his shaking slow down, probably the meds taking effect... again. He would need to start rationing them a bit stricter, he was only supposed to take one every 12 hours, not every couple minutes. He flipped his knife around a couple time, switching the more hacking blade for something a bit sharper on the tip rather than the edge. He may be some neurotic shut in, but he could and would give all he got to those blue skinned monsters. Looking down the hallway, he noticed something disturbing. The first of the blue humanoids was sniffing about behind them..

Ark Mason

Ark heard the other man introduce himself as Zane. Well, at least now he knew his name. That just left the druggie. He was now wearing a creepy grin and tossing the knife from hand to hand. Class act. Had his government career ended with the Marines, he may have been fooled into thinking the guy was a creepy druggie and probably would have taken the moment to launch a preemptive strike so he wouldn't need to worry about him later. However, his career had not ended with the Marines, and his work after had given him the ability to read people one might read a book. This guy couldn't weigh more than one-fifty, Ark had nearly half a foot and fifty pounds on him. Only a lunatic would seriously consider giving him that kind of look while playing with a pocket knife under such circumstances. He had met lunatics, drug addicts, and all manner of the other dregs of society. This guy wasn't a lunatic, he may be a drug addict, maybe. But beyond that, he wasn't anything more than a poser. This was just a foolish display of bravado. He didn't have time for this man's stupid game, he started back across the hallway, wanting to help Zane get the others moving. As he reached the other door, he saw the druggie look up the hallway that now separated them and stop tossing the knife. He spared a quick glance and saw a blue form slide out of a vent shaft in front of a sealed door further up the hallway.

Quickly ducking back inside the carnage room, Ark frantically motioned everybody to stay still. He inched over to the dead-looking blue thing on the floor and gently pried the rusty, chipped combat knife. He noticed it was inscribed with the Black Iron insignia. It had apparently been well used, though it was showing serious neglect in regard to maintenance. He edged his way back over to the doorway. He saw a dim shadow advancing towards him. He crouched against the wall in the carnage room, not daring to breathe. The thing was apparently drawn towards the druggie, because it continued past the carnage room, perhaps it knew to expect only dead bodies in this room. As it moved past, Ark was disturbed by the ease with which it moved, and the effortless quite. He doubted many would be able to hear the thing's footsteps unless they were listening closely for them. The thing had blue skin and a number of spines extending from its back, same as the first. It appeared to be holding some sort of pointed stick, perhaps fashioned from a broom, or maybe a mop. Ark steeled himself as it continued past the door, it was now or never. He had to kill this thing quickly and quietly or else more would probably come running. He slowly released his pent-up breathe and soundlessly drew another. He crept out into the hall, sneaking up on it from behind. Just like the drill sergeant taught us, he thought to himself. He was in predator mode now. He was only a step behind the creature as it continued its approach towards the room the others were in. He brought his left arm, holding his thermos around its head and up, the stainless-steel container smashing its jaw up into the air, while moving to the other side and plunging the old knife blade into and across its neck, severing the wind pipe and the arteries. Just like the drill sergeant taught us. Silence the sentries.

The old knife blade broke off in the things neck, worthless junk. That was a problem because while the windpipe was severed and air moving through the ragged new hole with a wet, pulpy sound, the creature did not seem as bothered by the neck wound as it should have. As it attempted to howl in rage, the air continuing to escape ineffectively through its neck, Ark was dumbstruck, the thing should be dying of blood loss right now. Apparently its arteries were set up at slightly different locations from his own. The thing swung around to its right, the back of its right arm hitting Ark across the face with surprising force, sending him thudding to the ground, thermos rolling across the hall. The creature jumped at him, the stick pointed down, it intended to impale him right there on the floor. Ark rolled to the right, the improvised spear hitting the floor next to him as the thing landed. Ark took the opportunity to throw a kick from the ground into the side of its knee. What would have dislocated a man's knee merely caused the thing's leg to shift a little, maybe a sprain. As the thing shifted a little under the joint blow, Ark drew his leg back quickly and got to his feet. The creature threw itself at him, still going strong despite what should have been two debilitating injuries. Ark threw a combat-boot enhanced front kick straight into the thing's pubic bone. He heard a bone snap somewhere inside the monster, but it only seemed to slow from the force of the kick, not out of any sense of pain. Its arms flung out in front of it as the kick impacted, and Ark grabbed a hold of the spear and attempted to wrestle it away from the creature. It kept a firm hold and pulled back, until Ark lifted his right leg and brought the full strength of his mass crashing down on the thing's right kneecap. He felt and saw it slide away down the leg. Even this creature had its limits, sagging to the ground, and loosening its hold on the spear. Ark grabbed it from its hands, the thing trying to regain its footing. He then thrust the spear into its gut and ran it back into the wall, using the impact to drive it deeper into, then all the way through the beast. Despite this, it was still struggling, still very much alive, kicking, and dangerous. The spear broke off, the majority of it inside the belly of the beast. Taking the remainder of the weapon, Ark plunged it straight through the thing's new windhole, and put all of his weight on it until he felt it go through the monster's spine at its neck.

It stopped moving, and Ark, panting, bent down and retrieved his thermos from the ground. He saw a dirty rag on the ground and picked it up, using it to wipe the creature's dark blue blood from his hands and arms, streaking them with some other dirt in the process. Riding the tide of his victory, he got a move on towards the civilian quarters, in a lighter mood now that he was on an adrenaline high. Still, he moved quickly, they had lost valuable time during the struggle. Time they didn't have. The other group of monsters, the one the captain had warned them about, was undoubtedly getting close now. Ark didn't think he, or the others, had enough fight in them to take on four at once. Hell, he'd gotten lucky against the one by having the element of surprise. Still, it felt good just knowing it was possible to kill these things. As Ark walked past the druggie he spared him a brief glance and a smirk. Let him play games all he wants, he wasn't fooled by them. Now Ark was inside the temporary peace of the civilian bunk room. In a hushed though upbeat voice he said, "Well now we know we can kill the blue bastards."

Alexandria Lichte

Alexandria couldn't help but smile as she felt Yurichi's arm around her but that the small time she got to feel better about the situation was taken away when she heard the distinct click before the Captain spoke once again, shaking her head a little as she heard the words she had feared for a while, she looked down the hallway at where the creatures would eventually come from if they didn't move now, before she even had a chance to move, Yurichi had scooped her up into her arms and was already moving towards the doorway with the two boys. Blinking as Yurichi set her down in the room, it took her a few seconds to realise that Yurichi still had her arms around her, Alexandria couldn't help but move closer with a small blush, "Thank you..."whispered Alexandria, not sure if Yurichi had heard her, she smiled as she relaxed against the tall russian woman, she felt safe within her arms even knowing that the creatures were hunting for them.

Alexandria shifted uncomfortably as she felt eyes on her and looked over at the man who was watching her, she watched as he stared before he switched attention to somebody else within the room, "The same man who advised Yurichi a while ago...but what was he so interested in?"Thought Alexandria before shaking her head, Why couldn't she shake this feeling? The feeling of being judged...Alexandria looked down shamefully as she thought back to her performance, remembering the fear she had felt and how scared and useless she must have looked to everybody else, "I really need to keep it together....I can't get scared like that again..."thought Alexandria, determined not to let people write her off as scared, weak...useless. Despite trying to encourage herself to do better and to be brave, she couldn't bring herself to look up again, afraid of seeing that man watching her again....or anybody else judging her, it was true....she was useless right now...and there was nothing she could do to disagree with that fact.

Heather Bowman

The young man who had become the leader had saved her. He'd grabbed Heather's hand and dragged her to safety. Heather had followed in numb obedience. They were coming. She stayed close to the man, Zane, his name was? Yes. Zane, Zane...insane. They were all going to go insane before this was over. Either that or die. Heather hid herself behind Zane's form, not touching the man but crouching slightly so that he was in between her and the door from wish they'd come.

"Thank you." She muttered to him, her voice hoarse. She was trying not to cry. She had been so close to dying, and now her body seemed to be stiffening up slowly. "Thankyouthankyouthankyou." It was no louder than a whisper, but the thrumming of her vocal chords was comforting. She was still alive. Not safe, per say, but alive.

She stayed hidden for a short time, furtively looking around every so often as if something would sneak up behind her and tear her spinal column out or something, before poking her head out from behind Zane to see if anything interesting was going on. Bad idea. One of the men was fighting a blue monster. They looked more intimidating when they were alive, Heather realized, freezing in her spot. She watched, transfixed. " Who will die first? Death by asphyxiation, lungs collapsing?...no, bleeding to death...no... ruptured organs?...nope...Spinal column damage." She muttered to herself, musing, as she watched. How would they die? Which would die? Or would it be possible for them both to die?

No, the human won. The monster was dead, and the man was coming back. Suddenly Heather felt ashamed and withdrew her head. She hadn't even cared which would win, she'd been more interested in how they would die. But she was relieved that the creatures could die. But that would mean she'd have to begin a list for them too. She laughed softly, a nervous sound. "What if there is only one? That wouldn't do. There has got to be more." Only one way to die was worrying. It decreased the odds quite a bit. People could die in so many ways.

Briarios Karumatu

"Do you think that the monsters would come back to places that are all ready... Torn apart?"... "Just how smart do you think these things can really get? Traps... Do you think they have any left over traps here?", Briarios heard Five say behind him. He could tell that she was freaking out a bit. Now the pills made more sense, he thought that maybe she needed to take them for some medical condition, but it seems that she has anxiety issues. Briarios knew that she needed some calming, but he wouldnt lie to her either, "Yes, im sure they come back to old places, they wouldnt want to miss out on a meal. Theyre hunters, I bet they have incredible smell and sight and intelligence, and who knows what other abilities. Im not too sure about traps though, if youre gonna hunt humans then youd have to have some pretty advanced traps, I dont know if theyre capable of those. Theres no doubt in my mind that theyre sneaky though, and that they work in groups, tracking down their prey, that would get them the most food." At this point Briarios noticed that he was more talking to himself than to Five, and realized that as she stared at him that he was probably making things worse. Then he added, "But hey, we just need to stick together, us and the group ahead of us, we'll make it out of here, okay?" Briarios knew his words were empty, and he couldnt promise anything, but giving this girl at least an once of hope was all that mattered.

As Briarios stood behind the people ahead of him and watched as they inspected the hallway, he decided to take a few more quick notes. He drew a rough sketch of where he thought they were, and went ahead and drew the hallway in front of him too. He labeled the rooms by the number they arrived at them; the cryo room was 1, the hallway outside of that was 2, the room with the creature was 3, etc. He figured that maybe they would need to backtrack or find one of these rooms later on, and maybe a simple map would be useful.

As he was placing his journal back into his satchel he noticed the leader guy, Zane, move into the next hallway. The guy was trying to keep us moving, but he was being pretty smart about it, checking all the angles, making sure they werent moving into a danger zone. This eased Briarios' mind a bit because he always thinks things out, not deciding on an action unless he feels that its the most logical move. With this leader with him, he could place some trust onto his shoulders, and trust that this guy would look out for the group. Of course Briarios still moved forward a bit paranoid, staring at the vent above him as he walked, almost expecting a beast to pop out, grab him, and pull him into the vent, without the group even noticing. However, nothing came out, and he followed Zane, making sure to at least look back at Five every so often to make sure she was with him as well. After just a moment he heard a sound that was strangely comforting, the sound of the captain coming onto the intercom. Despite the captain being a complete weirdo, it was still comforting to know that at least someone had survived this mess, and that they were receiving help from that person. It made him feel a bit less lonely on this ship. The news wasnt good though, “Announcement guys. I know it must be a leisurely stroll walking through the blood filled room with all of the dead bodies, but you have a few of the creatures coming your way, about 4. Doesn’t sound like much but you’re not ready for them so I advise you relocate yourselves as soon as you can. That will be all.” Even though Briarios thought the captain mustve been kidding about the creatures being on the ship, and it turned out that the captain was telling the truth, he still expected this to be some sort of joke, some sick joke. How could these creatures already have found us? Were we being that loud? Are they so skilled that they were able to track us down within moments of waking? , he thought. Then the captain spoke again, “By the way, they are already in the hallway which you came from…” Before Briarios could even register this, Zane started to move toward the next room. Briarios immediately followed, he knew that the best action would be to move away from that hallway as quickly as possible. Then he saw Zane looking around and behind him. What's he looking at? Oh! The others! Where are the others?, Briarios had almost forgot about them after hearing the captain.

He saw Zane go back toward the group. Briarios stood where he was, somewhat alone. Some of the group was near him, but he was the only one in the next room over at this point, and that was a creepy feeling. He looked behind him, and although his eyes were well adjusted to the darkness, this room seemed to be pitch black. There could be a group of creatures just beyond that darkness, staring at him, looking at their easy kill. Thats when he heard the sound of...of...a creature? He heard grunting sounds, sounds of what seemed to be a struggle. This scared him terribly. Had something happened to the group that Zane went back for? Had the creatures already caught up? He stood against the wall for a moment, not wanting to attract anything. Then he slowly eased up against the doorway, looking out into the hallway. It was a man, a well-built man, standing over a corpse. Jesus Christ, did he just kill that thing bare handed? The man started to walk rapidly toward Briarios, and not wanting to startle him Briarios whispered, "Hey, in here. Are you alright?" This guy seemed more than capable of handling himself, and Briarios hoped the guy would stay with him, providing some sort of protection for the time being.

Five Vernichi

Five sighed when Briarios answered her questions, she was feeling more and more frail, as if what he had said about those monsters, could easily rip her apart. Was this really how sh wanted to go out? Getting cornered by monsters while the group does not even notice? NO! She clenched her teeth and her hands to fists. She was just wanting to yell at them all, furious, unable to understand why this was still happening and why these strangers looked down on her. Though, it was a problem with her thinking, that no matter what everyone is against her. The way this ship was going, it would be like everything inside it was against her. What could she do other than just yell. Just when she was about to speak loudly, no doubt angering most of them, the a familial voice came upon her ears. With grave, grave news.

“Announcement guys. I know it must be a leisurely stroll walking through the blood filled room with all of the dead bodies, but you have a few of the creatures coming your way, about 4. Doesn’t sound like much but you’re not ready for them so I advise you relocate yourselves as soon as you can. That will be all”

She gasped and looked for the exits, two, move... She began to pick up pace ignoring the others that were struck by this, she had to get ahead of everyone. She turned to see if the others were moving, turned around and had her face meet the wall. She covered in and groaned, the second time she had a mishap like this. She struggled to fine Briarios with her head aching. “By the way, they are already in the hallway which you came from…”

Five gave out a small squeak of fear as she followed the rest the best she could with her head throbbing, she could not focus completely and it just seemed to get in the way of what others were doing around her. Where, were the monsters now? Where were the survivors? Where, was she? Her mind racing once more, it seemed to be all to good to be true but she then fell. Tripped over her own feet, she got up and once more looked for the leader of the group, for a way out of this hell hole waiting to melt. Down the hall, some were still in the room, some in the hall, down the hall, that was her way out. She sped walked down hoping to catch up with the group, not paying attention to the vents nor the clumpy foot steps of non-human feet. 'Breath! Count! Live! Do something!' she thought.

As she seemed close enough to the moving group, she noticed down the hall the vents were moving, shifting, there were more? Or was it her imagination?
"Did that guy just..." she stopped her out loud thought and shook her head. She had no clue now, she felt lost, afraid, alone. She opened her purse and pulled out an odd item.. It was her fusion coil, the mini version anyways, the battery, marked with the blue glowing light at the bottom of the handle marked it was low. She gripped the handle, and pushed up on it making the tip of the torch push out tiny grey wires, they sparked. She sighed, thinking that maybe, just maybe that if those things got to her she had something to protect herself with, that or take three hours to take out a locked door somewhere in this hallway that seemed to never end. She took another look around and realized once again that she had lost Briarios, that or she was to much in self panic to notice where he was. The monsters, strong, smart, hunters, she was prey... It disturbed her to think that humans were no longer on top pf the food chain.

"Will somebody help me?!" she finally spoke out loudly, holding the fusion coil like a knife.

Seth Sutherland

Seth watched as the monsters slowly made their way down the hallway and some of the survivors never moved, while many of them made it out of them room, on or two just barely, the rest were soon spotted by the creatures. Once they saw the people as well it happened and it happened quickly, the ones left behind were taken down, first a spear pieced one of them, another was taken down by some sort of tool and tripped so another could jump on and finish the survivor. The others left in the room were also quickly dispatched by them, mostly because they seemed to be frozen in place whether it be from fear or something else. Seth didn't look away from the monitors though, instead he tried to see what the creatures would do and luckily instead of moving on to make sure no others had made it out they began to drag the bodies away. That was when he noticed something he had never been able to confirm in the past, they hadn't killed these people, at least not all of them, one of the survivors seemed to be alive and being dragged off for another purpose, one which he believed he knew but had never actually seen happen first hand. If he had to guess it would be to turn the human into one of them, though he wasn't sure about the process in which it happened, he just had a feeling it had something to do with living humans, why else would they take them back that way... Unless possibly to store for future food source. Either way it wasn't a good thing and he himself did not plan on going out that way. He looked back at the secured bulkhead guarding the door to the bridge, the reinforced vents, and of course a small automatic turret which had dropped down when the lockdown had gone in effect. He turned back to the monitors after that and watched as the creatures made their way to one of the vents and look the unlucky few with them, disappearing into the unknown area of the ship where they stayed. When he was sure they had left he clicked on the intercom so they others could hear, "They have left... The ones who didn't make it out of the room were not lucky, they were dragged away through the air vent system, you though were lucky... Once again good luck... I will speak to you more when you get to the control room. Oh and you may want to look for senior staff members while you’re down there... Even dead they hold important key cards..." he said before clicking the intercom off and pushing his hand through his hair, this was going to be nerve wracking to say the least.

Zane Riddle

"Thank you." Zane heard the girl thanking him and turned to her for a moment, she seemed to be taking cover behind him which he didn't mind, "Don't worry, just stay close." he said and turned back to see if anyone else was going to filter in. Before he could start counting something happened though, apparently another creature, a separate one had come across them. Luckily another of the group, the man Ark seemed to be on top of it and he grabbed a weapon from the previous room, must have been the one he had seen on the creature earlier, it hadn't looked in good condition so he hadn't bothered taking it but he realized how stupid that was now, it wasn't the time to be waiting for a more pristine weapon. Luckily the man seemed to be able to handle his own though and Zane could tell this fight was going to be in Ark's favor from the start. When he moved in for the silent kill Zane couldn't help but smirk, at least one other highly trained combatant would be on his side. Of course he wasn't as thrilled when the thing took having its windpipe ripped out without missing a beat and he watched as the fight continued on. He thought about going over and helping but before he could make up his mind on what to do the creature was being tossed around once more by Ark. As he watched it be finished off by its own weapon one thought crossed his mind, very few of the survivors would be able to kill one of those things by themselves, they really did need to stick together.

With that he went back to the door of the room and looked out into the hallway, "Everyone get inside now, if they decide to move through that room to the hallway none of you are going to want to be standing around..." he said backing up into the room once again and trying to think of who all was missing. Of course he soon heard noises and he knew what was happening in the room they had left, not exactly but a scream made it clear. He took a deep breath and for a split second thought about covering his ears, he didn't though, listening to people he could have saved die... It was partially his fault, if he had have got everyone moving, done something else, who knows how many more he could have saved. He tried to hide what he was feeling though and put on an iron mask to hide his emotion as he looked at all of the people who had made it, knowing he had to focus on them and keeping them all alive instead of looking at those who did die and tormenting himself with what he could have done. Instead he would try and move forward.

Just a moment later the intercom clicked back on and he heard the captain speak once again, "They have left... The ones who didn't make it out of the room were not lucky, they were dragged away through the air vent system, you though were lucky... Once again good luck... I will speak to you more when you get to the control room. Oh and you may want to look for senior staff members while you’re down there... Even dead they hold important key cards..." While them being gone was not bad news, the knowledge that nobody else had made it out of the room was a downer, they would be left with the crew they had now and what a crew it was. The had lost a few, Alan, the one armed man, the nurse, Faith, and the other man Elijah. So many lives lost so quickly, they had to be careful not to lose any others, in fact with the doctor gone they had to be very careful, Zane may have been in war but he had no skills for healing, just for causing pain. With that he looked at those who were left and spoke, quietly but loud enough for people to hear him, "I know this is hard but we need to go... We want to stay ahead of these things if they can indeed catch us... If they can't we still need to get moving, the longer we stand around the worse off we are going to be..." he said turning to the deaf girl, he had missed her name and he needed to get it, "Alright stick near me or one of the others." he said with a small smile but it wasn't cheerful, he was just trying to comfort her. He then turned to the others hoping they would be ready to get moving, he knew that someone was likely to be freaking out though, he doubted everyone would react well to hearing that people had died. He would give them a minute but they probably should be moving, at least as soon as possible.

Silas Grey

With a sudden alertness, the uptight man trod off into the darkness, reappearing behind the lone blue demon. With a quick strike, he clubbed it over the head, then drove his rusty combat knife into it's throat. It didn't die. With a shocked grimace, the man was knocked to the ground, resulting in a struggle between the two. Too his relief, the man won. Perhaps they had a chance after all, ignoring the fact that there were possibly thousands of the things here on the Ragnarok. He, along with the forerunners of the survivors made it through the door just in time. According to the captain, they had to close the door now. Made sense, after the blue bastard's howl.

That could even bring more than the original four. Not to mention, the surviving three would be in the vents soon, possibly with reinforcements. The killer strutted back to the relative safety of the quarters, smirking at Silas as he passed. Wonderful, I'm the creepy outcast, just what I was trying to avoid.

Silas began to search once more for his only friend (aquantaince), Kara. Then, he realized the doors had closed, and she was definitely not among the living inside the sealed off quarters. He was suddenly stricken by a cold dead grief. It wasn't that they had been that close, he had only met her a couple minutes ago. It was that here in immense danger, the loss felt so much worse and terrifying. Especially now that the hired guns weren't too fond of him. He would either have to quit trying to fuck with them, make nice, or make friends with someone completely new. All of which seemed horrible in his current state. Maybe he should tell these people he had OCD. Perhaps they would regard him as less of a psycho and more of a guy with a sad problem. Waving his knife at mercenaries and ex-armies didn't help that though. As neurotic and paranoid as he was, he couldn't help feel a slight intellectual superiority, even though he was sure one or two of these people would be near his level of intelligence. He was in a VIP section, made sense that the others would be suitable to be placed there as well. Judging by the very cold, very precise attack, he was worried there were more hired guns than brains.

Zane looked troubled then, as he stared at the panting survivors. They had lost so many, so soon. It was only going to get worse as they carried on. Maybe, I should just gulp down the whole pill bottle, end it here. Why bother running, when there's nowhere to run to? He shook off these disgusting thoughts. He was no brave survivor, but he would give it a shot. Better to die getting ripped apart, then to take the coward's way and end it yourself.

He wouldn't have to, either, if someone thought he was dangerous. Taking out a pill bottle, he slowly rolled it around between his hands, trying to show off the label. People who feared or worried about him would be watching him, and they should see it was over the counter meds. Wait, what the fuck am I doing. This is wierd shit. Stop that. He'd have to just lay low for now, until someone as nice as the dead nurse would approach him.

Ark Mason

"Hey, in here. Are you alright?" Ark looked over and re-entered the room with the man named Briarios. He whispered back to the man, "You should see the other guy." A grim smile crossed his features. It wasn't an experience he wanted to go through again, sure he would know what to expect next time he ambushed one of those things, but if he fought one without the advantage of surprise, or worse, if one got the jump on him... Not a situation he wanted to be in. Zane entered the room and closed the door behind him. Nobody else would be joining them. Taking a quick head count, it seemed they were missing roughly three of the people who had been with the group as they entered the first room. Then he heard the screams. He grimaced and closed his eyes, putting a hand across his face. He had seen men killed in combat; but they were soldiers, it was expected that some of them would die, it was a poor rationalization, but that was the way it was and he had learned to live with it. This on the other hand was something else entirely, the screams of terror and agony, the screams of civilians. They didn't deserve this, no one did. He should have tried harder, should have dragged them away from that place. He had failed them. A moment after the screams trailed off he looked up, he steeled himself for what he knew lay ahead. He would survive, and he would do his damndest to make sure the others survived, even if he had to drag them kicking and screaming down to whatever salvation lay aboard this hell hole. "They have left... The ones who didn't make it out of the room were not lucky, they were dragged away through the air vent system, you though were lucky... Once again good luck... I will speak to you more when you get to the control room. Oh and you may want to look for senior staff members while you’re down there... Even dead they hold important key cards..." Ark did not consider anybody on this ship lucky. All the same, he made a mental note to himself to keep an eye out for these staff members. They would survive this.

And speaking of kicking and screaming... "Will somebody help me?!" Ark's head whipped around, expecting to see someone bleeding out or in some other serious predicament. Instead he saw the pink-haired girl who had been clinging to Briarios earlier. She seemed fine, just a little unbalanced by the whole situation, she was waving around what looked like a fusion coil. She was liable to take someone's eye out waving it around like that. He quickly tried to calm the girl down, careful to not get whacked by the fusion coil. He whispered, "hey...hey...HEY!" He finally said with a hard edge in his voice. His voice dropped back to a hushed whisper when he got her attention. "Keep it down, if those things hear you shouting, the're gonna come back here and kill ALL of us! Now stop waving that coil around before you take someone's eye out and calm down!" He backed off, giving her a little space. "I know this is hard but we need to go... We want to stay ahead of these things if they can indeed catch us... If they can't we still need to get moving, the longer we stand around the worse off we are going to be..." That was Zane speaking. No one seemed to be moving for the moment. He knew they were all having a tough time dealing with this, but they had to steel themselves and just get on with it, or else they had no chance of surviving. Time for tough love. "Alright people you heard him, we need to get to the control room asap!" He said this in a low voice, but their was an unmistakable fire in his words. He looked at Zane, "You seem to know where your going, we're ready to get a move on, can you lead us there?"

Five Vernichi

"hey...hey...HEY!"

Five gasped out throwing her arms to her face in protection, thinking that one of the monsters had gotten to her. She looked out to see the man who single handed took down one of the beast. For a moment she was happy, then worried that she was slowing everyone down and he just came to get rid of her. She could see that happening, after all two were all ready gone, why not just toss her out? Her panic was overlapping her logical thought, she instantly went in defense. "Keep it down, if those things hear you shouting, the're gonna come back here and kill ALL of us! Now stop waving that coil around before you take someone's eye out and calm down!"She shivered hugging herself in fear of what he had said. Sure he didn't throw her out but it felt more like a warning that she was endangering the group. She tried to calm down once he gave her some space. This was impossible for her, her mind reacted horrible to this, she didn't even get to see a live one of these beasts, only dead ones, and when the captain warned them that two were coming her mind went into panic, everyone was her enemy, she had no idea were to go, and it was all so stressful for her she felt like she was going to explode.

Now, she was slowly beginning to calm down, thinking a bit more positive, that he was only trying to help her and the group. She looked at her fusion coil with a grim exasperation, having such a high tech pocket version of a welder, wirier, and I guess a weapon. She never thought that it could be sharp enough to poke an eye out, but, that may be the only thing it could poke, that rest, was not meant for such things. She put it back in her purse in hope it may become handy later. She needed to fine a new weapon, all of them did. She was in hope that if she focused on one objective that she her mind would not go into panic.

'Okay, step one: stick with... what was his name? Someone said it... Ark? Ark and Briarios, there the only ones that bothered to notice you. Wow, that's a nice way to think of things... Step two: find a weapon. step three: continue to survive.' It was a simple, straight thought. She still was a bit upset is that the only way she could keep a grip right now was to think like a robot. She could be helping everyone out, get to know them, be someone that brought the kill like Ark or guided everyone to the right direction like Zane. What was she? That girl who holds onto men and swings engineering tools around like a knife? Pretty much. She sighed.

"They have left... The ones who didn't make it out of the room were not lucky, they were dragged away through the air vent system, you though were lucky... Once again good luck... I will speak to you more when you get to the control room. Oh and you may want to look for senior staff members while you’re down there... Even dead they hold important key cards..." The captain words gave Five a small smile, for she for once felt useful now. Being that she new about government and military rankings as well as to identify one super easily, she could get a key card from the next room of dead bodies just like that. Though, she did hope that she didn't haft to see more dead bodies even though that would be impossible. "I know this is hard but we need to go... We want to stay ahead of these things if they can indeed catch us... If they can't we still need to get moving, the longer we stand around the worse off we are going to be..." Five knew it was the leader, Zane speaking once more, she had little time to scavenge the room for useful things, yet once again that was something she was good at. She was now calmed and focused walking and looking around for anything really. She then spotted something that looked like a good weapon. It was a small silver pipe poking out of the nearby wall, it looked as if the pipe was thrown into the wall or something in the ship had messed up and now was out of place. She then went over to it and began to pull on the pipe, it was wedged into the wall pretty well, she whined, then attempted again, taking both hands and tugging. "Alright people you heard him, we need to get to the control room asap!"

Five wined again, pulling on it harder and harder seeing that they would be leaving soon. She kick the the wall then pulled on the pipe one more time, it got loose enough to be pooled out. Five smiled that she was able to get it out now. She slowly began to take it out of the wall, it was a bit larger than she thought it was. Not small like a combat knife but long like a shot sword, at least that is what she compared it to. She looked at it, felt it, it would not break but it would bend and dent after some blunt strikes, that must be common sense. She the went back to the Ark and kept her eyes out of Briarios once more, ready to move on, feeling a lot more secure that she had some sort of weapon this time. Truly, she was weak, a physical attack by her would be a bit less that most could do. More painful strikes than lethal ones, either way she held the long sliver pipe, chrome and shiny as if it was a lifeline.

"All right, I'm ready to go." she said out loud. She said it with confidence for once. She wondered just how quick that confidence would fall apart once she a monster appeared.

Ark Mason

The girl seemed to be getting a grip now. At least she wasn't shouting and waving her fusion coil around. He noticed that the druggie was rolling around a bottle of pills. Ark didn't really care what they were or where he had gotten them. As long as the guy could get through this without freaking out any more than the rest of them then he could deal with it. As people got ready to move out, he saw the girl pull a small piece of pipe out of the wall. It was a good find, it would come in handy for fighting creatures. However... She was a really small girl, couldn't weigh over one-thirty pounds, not a close combat fighter by any stretch. If she hit one of the monsters with that, she might be able to piss it off, but not much else. He went over to her.

"Hey there, sorry I got a little harsh with you earlier, but I'm glad to see your feeling a little better now. My name is Ark Mason by the way. What's yours?" He gave her an encouraging smile, wanting to make sure there was no bad blood between them. If they were going to get out of this they all needed to be on the same side. After she had responded, he said, "Good job finding that pipe, that would be good for fighting those things with. Now you found it so its yours, but.... I was wondering if you would trade that for my coffee thermos. Its full so it has good weight, but I really like that pipe and I think I could put it to better use than you. If you let me have it, you can just stick close and i will beat the tar out of anything that tries to get near us, so its a win win situation for you, you won't even get those thing's blood on you." Ark gave a quiet chuckle. He had been very sincere, and while she may not want to give up her new-found weapon, he knew he would be able to use it better than she would. And she would still be able to hold on to his coffee thermos anyway, so he didn't see any real problem.

Yurichi Strizonvek

Yurichi felt the girl calm down in her arms, which made her smile a little. But the smaller girl quickly became tense again for some reason. So Yurichi tightened her grip for a second to reassure her that everything was alright. Though the Russian herself was tense for her own reasons, she thought she could hear those things moving around in the walls. Whether it was just some sort of cruel trick her mind was playing or the fact that her hearing was her strongest sense, followed closely by smell.

She swore that she could hear them slip out of the vents and kill the four people who for some reason didn't make it out of the room. She could hear the spear force it's way through flesh and bone and she could hear the lifeless bodies get dragged away through the vents. As she looked around at the survivors she realised no one else seemed to be bothered by the noises. Yurichi hummed softly trying to block out the sound as best she could without the others hearing.

She listened quietly to the Captains message, for once she didn't make a snide comment about the tone of his voice. She decided that now wasn't really the time considering people had just died. She also didn't really pay much attention to what was going on, though she did notice that a girl pulled a small pipe from the wall and that the guy who told her to breath through her mouth earlier (as if she was stupid and didn't know that you could do that...), Ark or whatever, was trying to rip her off by trading a proper weapon for a bloody thermos. He also seemed to imply that the petite girl couldn't handle a fight with those monsters and should let him defend her like a little prissy princess. Yurichi decided that she didn't like this man and if this was any other situation she would have beaten him to a pulp already. The mere thought of breaking the assholes nose made her smirk with some sort of sick delight. But she shook that off before anyone thought that she too was a crazy.

The Russian then grabbed Alexandria softly by the shoulders, looking into her eyes seriously as she held out her pocket knife for the smaller woman to take. "Everyone here needs a weapon, just in case they get separated somehow..." she said, speaking for the first time in what felt like hours but was probably closer to minutes, "Which goes for that girl to Ark, she can't just rely on you. It will kill her."

Yurichi had no problem with giving up her pocket knife, after all she had a secret weapon she was planning on brewing soon enough.

Zane Riddle

Apparently the feelings on people getting killed was not what the others were thinking about, or of course they could have been like Zane and preferred not to speak about it. He noticed something right off the bat though, the man who he had been assuming was either crazy or a drug addict was now rolling a pull bottle in his hand. While it was a bit disconcerting to have the man he thought to be off his rocker rolling around a bottle of pills at least they looked prescription, maybe they were for a reason other than numbing him, for now he would believe so, let himself believe that this man wasn't a danger and would actually be some sort of a help in what he was sure would be a very hard mission. Besides, at this point he was seeing this as a very low chance of success, especially since they had lost so many already. One girl, Five seemed to be in a slight panic to which the man Ark decided to try his hand at calming her down. He seemed to be trying to keep things moving though and he turned to Zane, "You seem to know where your going, we're ready to get a move on, can you lead us there?" He just looked at the man a sighed lightly, "I don't know..." he said simply, really not sure if he could get them there or not. He didn't really want this responsibility, not that he wouldn't take it but thinking about leading this group of people in this situation wasn't exactly exciting, he could be getting them killed with something he thought they could handle but couldn't. He was use to working with trained soldiers, if they screwed up it was there fault, if he sent these people in and they died... It was his.

He was snapped out of his little panicked daze by a sound like a pipe being ripped out of the wall, an odd sound that sent him a bit on alert. He turned quickly and was happy to see that it was just one of the girls, Five, getting herself a weapon. That was good, everyone would need a weapon, the weaker ones even more so than they more experienced people. If one of the creatures came for them it could mean the difference between life or death, not to mention it could save anyone if they all had a weapon. Even Zane with all of his combat experience knew it wasn't impossible that he would be knocked down and if that happened he hoped the person near him would be able to strike at the creature. Then he heard something that really pissed him off, the man Ark decided to get on his bad side. "Good job finding that pipe, that would be good for fighting those things with. Now you found it so its yours, but.... I was wondering if you would trade that for my coffee thermos. Its full so it has good weight, but I really like that pipe and I think I could put it to better use than you. If you let me have it, you can just stick close and i will beat the tar out of anything that tries to get near us, so its a win win situation for you, you won't even get those thing's blood on you." He just shot a glance over in his direction, was that a joke? He was trying to take a weapon away from the girl because he thought he could put it to better use? Zane hated guys like that, was he going to do that for other things as well? No, that was not about to happen, he was not about to pressure her out of giving up her weapon.

Luckily he wasn't the only one who felt that way about it, Yurichi "Everyone here needs a weapon, just in case they get separated somehow..." "Which goes for that girl to Ark, she can't just rely on you. It will kill her." Zane nodded and spoke so everyone could hear but he directed the comment at Ark, "It is correct that everyone needs a weapon but those who are not ex-military or have no combat experience need the weapons even more... If they do not have a weapon they will die, I know it may sound arrogant but I have a much better chance unarmed than most, as do I assume you do Ark. Besides, I can't handle more than one of those things at a time from what I have seen... We can't assume we will be protecting them at all times." he said before turning away and walking out of the room at the other side, he was ready to go but that wasn't why he left, he needed a smoke, he was shaking a bit, nerves getting the better of him finally. He was blaming it on the lack of nicotine but it was really because this situation was damn hard to handle. He pulled the half of that cigarette out of the pack in his pocket and lit it quickly, taking a deep inhalation of the calming smoke. As he let his body relax a bit as the substance was taken into his body he looked around the hallway he found himself in. It was the same as the other hallway and that meant the rest would probably be the same. No dead bodies... Just blood and drag marks that lead to the ventilation system. It seemed only that one room was full of bodies, maybe that happened because people tried holding out there which could mean they would find such rooms again but still, it was more daunting to not see bodies... He couldn't help but wonder where all the passengers had gone, so many explanations coming to mind, none of them good. He walked down the hall a way, not even half way before he stopped and just leaned against the wall, this was stressful, he had to stay strong, if he didn't he couldn't expect the others to and he needed everyone to be strong at this point.

Heather Bowman

Heather didn't need the man to tell her to stay close, she had to resist the urge to reach out and get a good handful of the material of his shirt so she would have no chance of getting left behind. But she knew she shouldn't. So she settled for continuing to crouch warily behind him, peering out at the others, her breaths short and shallow. She hadn't heard the sounds of the people being dragged off, but the expressions on the other survivor's faces were enough to make her imagine the horrible ways they probably were dying.

Studying the faces around her over Zane's shoulder, Heather's interest was caught by a pale dark haired man with a bottle of pills. Interestedly, Heather stared at him. She wondered if he was contemplating death, or just needed something to do with his hands. For a second Heather mused that if it were the former, she might ask him to share. That way she'd know how she was going to die. It would erase the limitless possibilities of death she was facing right now. That was what scared her, the uncertainty more than the creatures.

Heather sort of wanted to move over closer to where the man with the bottle was standing, but she didn't want to move away from Zane. It was safer, standing next to the 'leader'. She had to stay there. Observe what was going on, but not partake. It would be hard to partake anyway, without being able to hear what was going on. No conversation for Heather. And then the man she was taking cover behind lit a cigarette. Heather was torn. Move away and avoid the discomforting smell or stay where it was safe? Safety won. Heather averted her face, examining the young woman who was holding a hunk of metal instead. She must have pulled it from the wall.

Five Vernichi

"Good job finding that pipe, that would be good for fighting those things with. Now you found it so its yours, but.... I was wondering if you would trade that for my coffee thermos. Its full so it has good weight, but I really like that pipe and I think I could put it to better use than you. If you let me have it, you can just stick close and i will beat the tar out of anything that tries to get near us, so its a win win situation for you, you won't even get those thing's blood on you." Five blinked a bit confused on what he had said. Did he not just see her make all that effort to pull this thing out of the wall? Yet, he wanted to just take it from her, sure it would be used better if he had it in his grasp, the way he single handed took down that monster, no doubt saving the group. She felt like he owed him. She sighed, giving into the peer pressure of it all and nearly gave up her prize till she heard a women nearby speak on the case.

"Everyone here needs a weapon, just in case they get separated somehow..." "Which goes for that girl to Ark, she can't just rely on you. It will kill her." Five looked over to the women, once more having to remember her name. ...Yurichi... Sh smiled a bit, that this stranger took the time to defend her and her prize weapon. Sadly Five was latching on people more that her own skills, if she just gave up her weapon expecting Ark to be there always to help her... No, that some princess story, this is no fantasy, this is no fairy tale, no one is her prince, she knew she had to be strong so others didn't haft to. It was there, like a light bulb that her panics left her, replaced with stress instead, she had opened a new mind set, a triggered adaptation to the environment. In order to survive she had to fend for her self.

"It is correct that everyone needs a weapon but those who are not ex-military or have no combat experience need the weapons even more... If they do not have a weapon they will die, I know it may sound arrogant but I have a much better chance unarmed than most, as do I assume you do Ark. Besides, I can't handle more than one of those things at a time from what I have seen... We can't assume we will be protecting them at all times." Zane, once again Five had a smile curve on her lips, though trying to hide it from Ark knowing he would no doubt be displeased. She got a grip then sighed in stress knowing that he next thing she chooses could kill her or save her. She looked up at Ark, the large, military trained, killer, and said, "I'm sorry Ark, but the least I can do for you is share."

She said to him, taking the fusion coil from her purse and poking the middle of the pipe with it. She then switched it on, the muzzle sparked and slowly made the middle of the pipe glow red, then pressing the button next to the switched a few more sparks were made and a saw noise could be heard softly, the pipe was cut clean in haft. Now being large as a combat knife, no longer the two handed pipe she had found. She was not done there, she then took the part that was cut, sticking the funnel of the fusion coil at it's tip and with another press of a button the muzzle started to spin and cut and spark with small head twisting the metal slowly and carefully. At this point it was a baby flame fire work to everyone and she felt a bit embarrassed the way she was dressed having such a tool worthy item. She stopped the fusion coil leaving the end of the pipe with a sharp point end, making it look like a tiny silver cone poker. She watched as the tip's redness left and it cooled. She had now made a more lethal weapon in stabbing but less in blunt force, something she needed. She then tossed the other pipe to Ark, the one not sharpened like a pencil.

It seemed rude to give him the short end of the pipe but she could of just kept it for it's blunt force and left him unsatisfied, maybe he could think of a nice way to twist it with his 'military strangling hands' and make it a hand spear like hers, but she sure was not about to waist the battery on his, not when it was drained enough, she put it back in her purse, being that it shut off soon after she was done. Then took a look at everyone, then back at her new weapon, she left a bit powerful being the few who had such knowledge to make simple scrap into blade like weapons. It made her feel good, flawless, and soon she would fine a new way to cope with the pain, stress, and battle with the killing ship they were in. Being kind and quite only got her head into a wall, time to show everyone just how violent she could be, and maybe she would not haft to be so scared and frail as everyone saw her. As her brain began to throw her new found adaption to survival into plane, she was just staring at her design, like the druggy with his pills. They may be problematic.

Silas Grey

Pocketing the meds nervously, Silas began to pace back and forth. All this commotion about weapons had him rethink his tiny utility knife. He folded that up, putting that in his pocket too. The pockets of the black coveralls were perfect for storing crap, thanks to the useful zippers. He wondered if this was the only perfect pair on the ship, considering the employees wearing them have all been eaten or turned by now. He still needed a better weapon, being one of the weaker VIPs. Brain power was a hell of an asset, but not without material to exercise it upon. You couldn't out think something like those monsters either. No puzzles or mysteries to be solved, or vast mathematical quandaries. He would have been useful on the colony, but not here.

Ironically, this was the sort of thing he had hoped to find on the colony, evidence of alien life. Perhaps not so lively and hungry for his flesh, but this was still a major scientific stretch, all the same. Most of his work was theoretical, or scoping out colonies that could support life. In fact, he knew a member of the team that had chosen Verinor as a suitable colony world. Here we was, battling the very things he had been searching for. Remind me to grab a sample or two. Scoffing cynically, he rifled through beds of missing people to find anything close to a weapon. He searched bags under the beds, only to find most, if not all, had been already looted by the monsters. They too needed supplies to make weapons and traps. He would need to think outside the box here, like that girl with the fusion coil had done. He managed to find a chain necklace, which he unclipped. Pulling out his pocket knife, he chose the larger and sharper of the two blades and removed it carefully, using a screwdriver from his lock-pick set. This, he fastened to the necklace and put the rest back into his bag. He had fashioned a chain whip, tipped with a decent sized knife. It would be useless against the monsters without any practice though. He walked a couple meters from the main group, and tried his hand at hitting targets. He could blind one of the fuckers, if need be. Aiming at blood spots in pillows and sheets, he missed the first several times, but with practice, he found he could hit a target slightly. He could also use it as a choker, but he knew without conviction that the makeshift weapon would work better in the hands of either Zane or Ark. Ark already had part of a pipe now, but so far as he knew, Zane could use the whip. He'd keep it for now, but if he could find something taking less skill or effort, that would be ideal. If anyone wanted the weapon, then he could trade it for something too. Smiling, he swung it in a wide arc, ripping through another blood-stained pillow.

Alexandria Lichte

Alexandria stopped berating herself when she felt Yurichi tighten her grip around her, shaking her head a little as she stopped thinking about what the others were thinking and instead focused on what was happening around her, people looked anxious to move from this place, who could blame them knowing what was happening to the others that got left behind, Yurichi had probably started humming to help her forget about the situation, "Or she's bored..."thought Alexandria before dismissing the thought quickly, "Not the best thing to be thinking right now..."Thought Alexandria before looking up at the Russian woman. "Yurichi I -"Alexandria started before being cut off by the Captains latest message, "Certainly knows how to ruin a moment..."Thought Alexandria with slight annoyance as she listenened to the message, sighing at the thought of having to continue throught this nightmare, she couldn't help but be distracted by the latest commotion.

From what she could understand, the soldier, Ark, would have liked to have the pipe that the girl, Five, had just taken from the wall, for a second it looked like she would of given in, if it wasn't for Yurichi and Zane coming to her aid, Alexandria smiled a little as Five ultimately decided to share her new weapon with Ark, an argument like this could have turned out like is the least of what they needed now, but her newly found happiness shortly vanished. The look in Yurichi's eyes scared her a little as the woman grabbed her shoulders before holding out her pocket knife, Alexandria went to turn down the weapon but the look in Yurichi's eyes told her not to disagree, her hand moved by itself as she took the weapon from the Russian as she stated that everybody needed a weapon, but the last of Yurichi's words haunted her mind, "In case we get separated....."repeated over in Alexandria's mind as she looked at the knife, Could she bring herself to use it?

Separated from the group.....Separated from Yurichi...the thought terrified her, so she occupied herself by looking over at Silas, who had just creatively made a better weapon than he had before and was practising to use it away from the group, shaking herself out of the daydream of watching Silas and his new weapon, it still didn't answer her question...."Could I use this....to save myself? Save others here?"Thought Alexandria as she put the knife in her pocket, "If I want to tell Yurichi that....then yes....I have too...so we all have a chance at making it out of here..."Thought Alexandria with a small smile, although deep down, she knew that thinking she could was one thing, knowing she could was a completely different matter.

Briarios Karumatu

"It is correct that everyone needs a weapon but those who are not ex-military or have no combat experience need the weapons even more... If they do not have a weapon they will die, I know it may sound arrogant but I have a much better chance unarmed than most, as do I assume you do Ark. Besides, I can't handle more than one of those things at a time from what I have seen... We can't assume we will be protecting them at all times." Zane said. Briarios stood over on the side, he had seen how desperate Five was in obtaining a weapon. Her reaction was definitely expected, its hard to stay calm when people that you've just met were savagely attacked, and then one group member just almost died while fighting a creature with his bare hands. The group needed weapons. Briarios would not be scared at all if he had a pistol or maybe a rifle in his hands. Even though he focused on mechanical and computer components with the military, they still gave him weapons training. On his planet, the technology for warfare had grown so much that training for unarmed combat seemed ridiculous. The most physical requirements involved passing the final physical test, which basically said that you were ready for the real deal. Here on the Ragnarok, it seemed like the best weapons he would find would be steel pipes, or small combat knives. He would use them if he could find them, but he wasnt too confident in how well he'd stand up to a ruthless, barbaric creature.

Briarios was not sure if he agreed with Zane. If the strong ones have the weapons, then they'll be killing a lot more than the less capable ones. And even if the less capable ones have the weapon, what chance do they really have of killing one anyway? The buff, ex-military guy Ark almost died trying to take one down, and that was even after he cut the creatures throat open with a knife. Even WITH his weapon he struggled to take ONE of them down, and yet we're giving the weapons to the weaker of the few. If any of the stronger group members die, we're gonna start questioning the handling of the weapons. Its fine, this is temporary, we'll all have a weapon soon. Briarios thought. Technically, Briarios could be considered one of the weaker of the group but he wouldnt use this as an excuse to get a weapon, he'd rather Zane or Ark to have them. For now though, anything he had would be better than nothing. Looking down into his satchel, even though he already knew what he had, he couldnt help but feel disappointed. Advil, yea, not gonna help kill these things. A blanket, for killing, no, but maybe for a trap later on. The jounral, obviously not, but it would be invaluable later. Two items left, a chain pocket watch and a ballpoint pen. He thought for a second, and then wrapped the chain of the watch around his left hand, and gripped the pen in his right. It wasnt much, in fact it probably wouldnt help him one bit, but it was something. At least its a nice pen with an aluminum head on it. is all he could say to reassure himself as he looked down at his hands, noticing how pitiful it looked. Then he walked over behind Zane, as if to say,"Im as ready as ill ever be."

Zane Riddle

People were getting impatient and coming to him despite his obvious attempt to take even a little time to himself. At least he had time to finish his cigarette before he was followed by others. Of course being followed didn't bother him that much but he would have been lying if he said he didn't want some time to himself after all of this, though he knew that time to himself or even down time in general would not be a very common thing in this situation if he ever really got any. He looked to Briarios, he just looked at him and walked back over to the room where most of them were and looked into the door, "Let's get a move on... I think I have kept us here long enough... Now keep close and keep moving, we have to get moving or we will never reach the control room" he said knowing his selfish need for a smoke had held them up a bit. He then turned around and walked away back down the hallway. When he got to the end of the hallway their were two doors, one leading relatively north but it was blocked by a bulkhead while the door that continued to lead down, or to the south, was wide open. He walked through the doorway figuring that people would catch up. He took a quick look around the room, a single body in the corner and from what he could tell it had not been the creatures... The woman looked like she had killed herself, "Poor people..." he muttered to himself but not stopping, there were only so many times they could stop in a room, they had to keep moving towards the control room so they could figure out just how the hell they were going to get through this, if they even could.

Zane walked right through the room, slowing his pace a bit to let people keep up with him but at the same time he wanted to stay a little ahead of most of them, just in case another fight broke out, having 'civilians' right next to him would not be a good thing, of course he knew they could be as much of a help as a liability depending on the situation. So he moved through this room as well, exiting a door to the West and into a room with yet another door to the West but he didn't get a chance to look around before he heard some kind of movement. He stopped dead in his tracks and just looked at the exit to the room, where they all had to go, and where he was hearing the noise from. He slowly moved through the room, getting low and having the pocket knife gripped tightly in his hand. He looked back in case anybody had kept that close to him, sure at least one had seeing as he had told people to stay close, and put his hand up to tell them to stay back, of course some were probably looking around the rooms for stuff . When he reached the doorway he couldn't see anything immediately but peeked around to see the source of the noise he had heard and it wasn't a creature, it was almost worse that than, it was a man, hanging from the ceiling by a noose of sorts and he was swinging around and he had hit the wall. That wasn't good though, he didn't look like he had just hung himself so something had been in this room mere seconds ago or at least not too long ago. Zane looked around carefully, his eyes scanning every little nook and cranny of the room in search of the creature or whatever it was that had bumped into the man hanging by his neck. He couldn't see anything which meant it had moved on or was lying in wait, either way it was not good, it made him nervous to know something had been there but not seeing it. Of course he could have been being paranoid as well but he had to be on alert. He didn't know what to tell the others, be on guard? Should he even worry them when he wasn't able to find the creature? No... He turned back to the man hanging and took particular notice of the device used to hand him... It didn't look like a usual device one would use for suicide... Looked more like an trap... Unsettling to say the least. He returned to the doorway and motioned for people to come on that it was 'safe' to move on.
