Once out of the K belt, Veris was ordered to do three tasks: Notify captains of hyperjump, ensuring to state the countdown, initiate full fleet wide ship self-assessment, telling the AIs to turn off all axillary functions, and run pray[].

"This is August 13 Artificial Data Analysis Android August 13 Call-sign "Veris", operating as per command of Grand Admiral McCart, to all captains of the exploratory fleet. All ship AIs will be running self-diagnostics and cutting axillary functions immediately. Once all systems have been prepared, the hyperjump will go on the Grand Admiral's countdown."

As the transmission was shot to the ship captains, Veris was also communing with the AIs.

The final order, running pray[], was significantly more difficult for Veris. The program pray[] took massive amounts of power to run, due to the complexity of the concept.

At the time of the countdown, Veris sent out one last transmission to the captains before they traveled into hyperspace.

At jump, Veris began to slide slowly backwards, the hum of his electromagnets filling in what noise wasn't from the hyperspace drive. To counter the sliding, Veris began to use his exhaust thrusters once again. However, McCart was the only one close enough to even hear them.
