It is year 473 of the Fourth Age (written 4E473) of Alerion. You, my friends, shall be monumental in the salvation of the races that inhabit this world. But first, you must know who you are saving.
Men
The Race of Men was one of the original four races created by the Celestials. Men are resourceful, independent, and inventive creatures. They are social and fun-loving, and often congregate in large groups when around each other. However, Men are prone to corruption and greed. They are rash, quick to anger and often throw the first punch. This can be a hinderance, but also a blessing.
Social Structure
Men are led by a singular King, who rules over the entire race. Under the King, ruling over the seperate provinces, are Lords. The Lords report directly to the King, and obey his decrees. Under the Lords are the Knights, the enforcers of the Lords' wills. Below the Knights is the Army of Men. As you might imagine, the Army of Men is just that: the army. Under the army are all civilians.
Racial Characteristics
Men are what you usually expect: Men. They have an average life of just over 100 years, and most can use a rudimentary amount of magic. Men are sturdy, yet lean, usually standing around 6’2” for males, 5’8” for females. Tan skin and dark brown hair are a racial constant, though many do have paler complexions and different-colored hair, usually dependent on where in Alerion they live.
Combat Specialities
Swordsman
Knight
Battlemage
Helites
An off-shoot of Men, Helites have grown and evolved in the harch conditions of the desert. Having to hunt at night, they have evolved with superior night vision and leaner, more stealthy bodies. Their magic has waned over the years, having not been used in favor of more stealthy and faster means of killing prey. Only in recent years has magic been making a comeback among the Helites, simply to keep up with the other races.
Social Structure
The Helites live in nomadic tribes, never staying in one place for more than a few weeks. There is no central government, and relations between the tribes is tense, at best. Within the tribes, a central leader is chosen every year, right when the rainy season stops and the Helites have to hunt primarily for food again. Everyone looks up to the leader, and he commands respect of the entire tribe.
Racial Characteristics
Helites are almost the same as Men, except for the sole fact that they are smaller, leaner, and can see in the dark. Males usually stand at around 5'*', and females at around 5'2". Helites usually have dark skin and light, sandy-colored hair, and there are few exceptions.
Combat Specialities
Assassin
Elves
The second of the four original races, Elves were given the grace that Men lacked, the wisdom that Men were too young to gain, and the magic that Men were too straightforward to use. Elves were also blessed with being more physically attracting than Men. However, Elves were also left with less physical endurance and stamina than Men, leaving them less useful with a sword and axe. However, this culminated in their ability to weild magic as experts, and their hightened eyesight allowed them to become master archers.
Social Structure
Elves are lead by a Council of Elders. Elders are chosen from among the various elven communities, chosen from among the most responsible, powerful, and honorable elves. Elders serve for ten years, at which point they become Vsai’Umf, or “Honorable Elders”. All elves respect the rule of the Council. The armies are no different in social standing than regular citizens, because everyone plays a part in the Elven communities
Racial Characteristics
Elves are a fair, proud race. Most elves have fair skin and blonde/silver hair, though, like the humans, there are some variations. Most elves are tall, with males standing around 6’8”, and females around 6’5”. Elves are lean and lightly muscled, which leads them to look very skinny compared to the other races. However, their looks betray them, and many elves are masters of magic. Elves live to be about 2000 years old, though some have been known to grow older.
Combat Specialities
Ranger
Mage
Dwarves
The third of the four Creations, the Dwarves are similar to Men, only shorter, stockier, and much more tolerant to large amounts of alcohol, although the last trait is disputed among some scholars as to whether it was an original trait, or Dwarves have evolved to encompass it. Being of stockier build, and therefore more muscles, the Dwarves have become masters of the warhammer and waraxe, as well as heavy plate armor and large tower shields. Dwarves are masters of defensive combat. This short race has mastered the phalanx, as well as the "defensive bubble" formation.
Social Structure
Dwarves are lead in a similar way to the Humans. The Dwarves have a King, but instead of Lords ruling over the lands, Clanslords rule over the many Dwarven clans. Each clan has a say in Dwarven politics, deciding what is best for their families. But, the King has the final word, and his word is law.
Racial Characteristics
Dwarves are short, with males standing around 3’4” and women around 3’2”. Because of their short stature, heavily muscled build, and curious addicting to ale, Dwarves are often described as “Walking Kegs”. But don’t let their size fool you. Dwarves are deadly on the battlefield. Their magic is also deadly, though not as much as the Elves’ magics. Dwarves can live as long as Humans, though many grow to be at least 200. It is not known exactly how long Dwarves live because of this.
Combat Specialities
Warrior
Mage
Draconians
The final, and probably most majestic, of the four Creations are the Draconians. Distant relatives of true dragons, Draconians are more humanoid in anatomy, as well as much, much smaller. Masters of winged combat, Draconians often dive-bomb from the skies, destroying large swaths of enemies in one fell swoop, no pun intended.
Social Structure
Draconians are a very secretive race. As such, not much is known about their social structure. Few glimpses have been made into this world, and fewer still have understood what is seen. The Draconians are like the Dwarves in that they have clans, but nothing is known of how the clans interact. And there is usually no indication that there is a Draconian army, though they always manage to form one when it is needed.
Racial Characteristics
Due to their secrecy, the only known traits of the Draconians is what has been seen on the battlefield. Draconians are vicious melee fighters as well as magic-users. Draconians wield magic as well as the Elves, and a sword as well as Humans. Males and Females look to be the same height. It is unknown how long Draconians live, but many believe them to be immortal, like their dragon brethren.
Combat Specialities
Dragon Warrior
Mountainkin are Men that moved to the mountains of Alerion ages ago, and have evolved accordingly. Their thick skin and long hair protect them from the cold, while their thick, knotted muscles and tall stature allow them to challenge any beast found on the peaks of the Dragonstail Mountains.
Social Structure
Like the Helites, Mountainkin live in small villages, each one independent from each other. However, there is a centralized government. Each village sends it’s best warrior to Mountaingate, the grand fortress of the Mountainkin. Here, the warriors will decide on important issues and various other things that affect the whole of the Mountainkin.
Racial Characteristics
Mountainkin are huge, males and females standing around 6’10”, and weighing over 300 pounds. Males and females alike are heavily muscled, though there is the occasional “beautiful” Mountainkin, who are less muscled and more human-like. Magic is almost non-existent in Mountainkin, as they have no use for it. Mountainkin live about as long as Men.
Combat Specialities
Beserker
Outukai
Outukai, an offshoot of the Elves, are more of a cross between Men and Elves. Some speculate this is the origin of their race, but none can be sure. Whatever their origins, Outukai have characteristics similar to both races. They have the feline facial features of the elves, but the bodily features of Men.
Social Structure
Outukai are led by an Empress, who commands over the entire Empire. She is aided by advisors, but other than that rules alone. She may choose to take a man in marriage, and he becomes the Emperor. But the Empress still holds absolute power. Under the Empress are the Chuakai, the Lords. These Lords rule under the Empress, and enforce her will, like the Lords of Men.
Racial Characteristics
Outukai are fast and agile like the Elves, and strong and sturdy like Men. They also inherited the magical capabilities of Elves, making them one of the most versatile races of Alerion. Outukai live as long as Elves, though physically age much faster, so that when they die, they are not nearly as fair as Elves.
Combat Specialities
Warrior
Farr’al’kai
Farr’al’kai are an evolution of lions in Alerion, and have become one of the prominent races on the continent. Their evolution has left them with some characteristics of lions, but more humanoid features, such as the ability to walk on two feet and actual fingers. The Farr’al’kai are a fiercely proud, solitary race, and are easily offended, so one must be careful when dealing with them.
Social Structure
Farr’al’kai have kept the pride structure from their lion ancestors. Farr’al’kai travel in prides, with the Alpha Male leading. Occasionally, there are prides that will split for varying reasons, but most stay together for a very long time. There is no central governing body within the Farr’al’kai. Prides interact through coordinated hunts and mutual trade, but that is the extent of their interactions.
Racial Characteristics
Farr’al’kai hunt mostly with spears and their claws, though some learn archery as well. There is no magic whatsoever within the Farr’al’kai world. Many have never even heard of it. Their lifespan varies considerably, and some have been known to live for 500 years.

1: OBEY ALL RULES OF RPG! It is by the grace of the Roleplaying Gods that you are here, so let’s not anger them, shall we? =D
1: NO GODMODDING!!! NONE!!! WHATSOEVER!!! >.< If you are unsure if it is godmodding or not, ask in the OOC. If you absolutely must godmod, ask the person who is receiving the action. If they say no, then that’s that. End of story.
2: Good grammar is a MUST. I will not allow text speech and/or crappy grammar skillz. Text is like what you would type on a cellphone. For example, “LOL ROFLCOPTER OMG WHAT? SHE DID THAT? LOLOLOLOL WTF HAX!” Now, I will look over the occasional spelling error, and if the character is supposed to have bad grammar, then that’s alright. But that doesn’t mean your narration has to have it too.
3: Keep all romantic encounters civil, please. I will not mind kissing and the like, but once the clothes come off, take it to PMs. You can allude to what you did, but no details, please. Let’s keep the general populace guessing.
4: Include everyone, if you don’t mind. I know you can’t include someone who’s halfway around the world, but, y’know, if they’re right next to you, and the do something to you, react.
5: If you’ve read this far, congrats! You seem to have dedication enough to wade through all of that stuff I just wrote. =P Oh, and in the, “How would you like your waffelz?” part of the character sheet, put, “With bananaz.” =P
6: HAVE FUN!!! This is an epic, LOTR-style RP with lots of room to explore, expand,
and do some crazy stuffz. So, have fun! THE RP GOD DEMAND IT!!! =D
Magic is a part of life for the inhabitants of Alerion. Not everyone can use it, but most know what it is and how it works. Magic in Alerion is like the Force. It flows through all things, connecting everything and everyone in the web of life. However, only certain people are in tune with it enough to command it. Many people have rudimentary magic control. They can call upon its basic levels to stimulate plants and other small things. But they are not nearly powerful enough to be used defensively or offensively. Those who are powerful enough usually specialize in a certain school of magic. The schools are as follows:
School of Destruction
Specializing in the Elements and using them offensively, Destruction Mages are often battlemages on the front lines, right up there with the soldiers in the thick of combat. They often carry battlestaves as wear armored robes.
School of Healing
Specializing in the healing of others, Healing Mages are often in medical centers and mobile infirmaries. Many don’t carry any sort of weapons, though some do carry staves, often enchanted for protection or to aid in healing.
School of Illusion
Specializing in making the enemy see things that aren’t there, many Illusion Mages double as Assassins or spies, for obvious reasons. However, they can also be seen on the battlefield, often hanging back and providing support for the frontline soldiers. They can create mirages and also disorient the enemy. Illusion Mages carry weapons dependent on their role.
School of Conjuration
Specializing in conjuring spirit beings and other assorted creatures, Conjuration Mages are the “Good” version of Necromancers. As Necromancy is forbidden, Conjuration Mages as a general rule of thumb stay away from conjuring undead and the like. However, the can conjure spirits, creatures, and items. They can also create portals that lead to various places, allowing instantaneous travel.
