On the planet of Corin, a place much different from here, there was once a mighty empire. An empire so great, it ruled over Corin from the sky, with a unique mix of science and magic. (Not alchemy though, although there is alchemy here.) Their cities floated in the sky and their people sprouted wings from their backs. They were the Draconians, and their empire was one of unequivocal glory. It was this glory that bred the pride and vanity that ended them. The Draconians descended to the ground below, and became cursed, while their cities continued to float in the sky, forever a reminder of that great power they once had. At the time of the fall, the capital city burned bright and from the center of the city, a light beyond comparison shot forth into the heavens.
The city burned until it was an empty floating husk, after that the other cities abandoned their inhabitants. Without the royal family, the spells that once protected them, forced them out. The light that had been seen was the departure of the royal family. The royal family had left Corin entirely and went to its sister planet, Earth. Although far away, Earth was very similar to Corin, but it had no magic. Thus, the royal family lost their wings and blended in with Earth's inhabitants.
Back on Corin, the remaining Draconians were hunted and in the end all died off, but they did have half Draconian children. Their children were spared by a gift that had not been given to their parents, the ability to hide their wings. A hundred years past and the empire itself was forgotten, but the cities cast shadows over the land as permanent relics of the past and its treasure and power. Many have tried to gain entry into the cities, and many countries have advanced in technology in such away that they create things like the cities, but they are still completely different. They can create an airship, even one so massive it's called a floating fortress but they are nothing like the cities. They are not as powerful, they don't even float the same way.
War is not an uncommon thing now and days, but it still comes as a surprise. When the industrial empire of Kimera hears of the fantastic Guardian (Mecha) that could be powerful enough to breach the floating cities, they invade and destroy the country of Fenaldin, in search of it. This Guardian, however, could only be used by the half Draconian king, who had just finished his coronation by making a blood pact with the machine. Because of this turn of fate, the king was able to keep the Guardian out of the hands of the Kimerans, and escaped into the Fenaldin forest. Unfortunately, he was forced to leave his kingdom behind, and was forced to let it burn.
At the same fateful time, a light that hadn't been seen in a hundred years streaked through the sky down to the Fenaldin forest, and the last heir to the Draconian throne and the key to the cities above entered into Corin. Now that the gears of fate are turning, who could possibly know what will happen?
