a topic in Interest Checks, a part of the RPG forum.

Thinking about starting a roleplay, but don't have the idea completely finished? Post it here, not in the main OOC forum!

If you are familiar with the book I won't need to explain anything. If you are not familiar I will also include a bunch of information below.

“The Darkest Minds tend to hide behind the most unlikely faces.”
― Alexandra Bracken, The Darkest Minds

The world has turned on its axis, the economy has fallen to an all time low. People barely survive out here, and an entire generation of children have been pretty much lost. The Camps are the only hope now for the parents of kids who have developed the Psi powers, or otherwise for those who no longer consider them to be their children. But our story does not begin in any of the camps, and it certainly wont end there.

Our story begins on the outside, in the desolate wasteland that formerly served as America. Where kids find themselves hiding away day by day from the threat of the skip tracers and bounty hunters. Most either coming from the camps or never having been from them. All scared and scarred by what they have become.

Because they have survived the disease that wiped out most children in America.

Our story is that of loss and salvation. Of six kids who barely know each other, but band together in the face of adversity. To survive and find their way halfway across America, back to their homes. A midst the worlds chaos they must avoid Skip Tracers, and the Psi camp controllers. As well as their own slipping sanity and the danger of their powers.

Orange - Thought to be wiped out ages ago, considered one of the most dangerous as they are able to influence the actions of others through mind control. Most if not all have a power complex and find that their sanity is more loose than others. In most camps they were rounded up and destroyed.

Red - Their ability revolves around fire and the ability to create it. They were also thought to be wiped out but instead were rounded up and forced to become special soldiers.

Yellow - Another of the most dangerous, they control electricity and can generate it and direct it from and to sources. Able to destroy things with this ability rather easily.

Blue - Able to move and lift things with their mind. Not considered dangerous as their powers don't really amount to much destruction.

Green - (Will get back to you on this one I've forgotten what green was)

The Government’s solution for the crisis is to round up the children and send them to “rehabilitation” camps which are in fact, brutal concentration camps where the kids get effectively locked up, abused and often killed. In these camps kids are treated as slaves and never allowed to use their powers. Even when they are sick unless they are contagious or seriously hurt to the point of possible being dead they still have to work.

A league dedicated to saving children from the abuse of the camps and the hatred of the world. Or so they claim. Their true intentions are not entirely known but they certainly are not what they seem to be, In fact, they generally only allow the strongest powered within their ranks and often manipulate them to do what they want. Otherwise they lie and make false promises to them.

Essentially bounty hunters that track down children to take to camps or find those that have escaped. They are extremely dangerous and should be avoided at all possible costs.

In the outside world tribes are often formed by the psi kids to protect each other. They differ in attitude and the way they interact with strangers. Some are extremely dangerous while others can be helpful given the situation. Its best to avoid these types just in case they are the first kind.

Tell me what you think. Sound interesting?
