THE GUARDIANS- Journey to the Worlds

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Aslin on Sun Jul 13, 2008 8:34 am

Placing his own stone into the gateway, Hugh stepped through into the Land of Arilt and watched as the other Guardians followed by Azrael entered as well. It was a sudden change in surroundings from the dark, windy and cold world of Belluvier into the warm and bright land of Arilt. The sight of the green grass and healthy trees allowed hope to bloom within Hugh. Looking at each of the Guardians, he knew that each one of them had a great battle ahead of them, a battle that would decide the fate of the eight worlds.

Clutching his wooden staff, Hugh led the way back to the small house and ushered them all in. The Guardians needed to rest for atleast a day before they carried on with their journey. The return of their powers would have made them slightly weak as they needed to get used to so much energy surging within them. He closed the door behind him and instructed them all to rest.

The journey was not over. It had only begun.

Garthox has spread his rule in the World of Belluvier, casting darkness wherever he goes. Now, he travels to the other Worlds....and Flinx, the Land of Fairies is next.

The eight Guardians have attained the extra powers of God from the Tree of Wisdom. However, in order to defeat Garthox and his 5 powerful minions, they must travel back to their own Worlds and retrieve the objects that their ancestors used in the very first battle against this Ancient Evil. But time is running.

And so begins.....THE JOURNEY TO THE WORLDS

CHARACTERS

Morning had come, the night having passed in the Land of Arilt. Hugh was standing outside the small house and awaited for the Guardians to arise from their sleep. The rest had been much deserved but now, there was work to be done.

The Guardians each had their own journey to take and Hugh could not follow them on this quest. But he knew, there would be people in their own Worlds to aid them in the search of the objects.
....................................................................................................................

Ash rubbed her eyes, awakening as the sunlight poured into the house. She rose from the wooden floor and stretched. Some of them had to sleep on the ground as there was not enough place. Looking around, she saw that the other Guardians were slowly rising and she carefully stepped over them, heading towards the door. Quietly she pushed it open and stepped out onto the grassy planes of Arilt. Spotting Hugh, she went to stand beside him. Neither spoke, both simply staring at the eight silver gates that lay on the hills.

Each led to the eight worlds; portals that could be opened with the opaque stones that all the Guardians had.

"You'll should be leaving soon," Hugh told Ash.

((I'm just guessing that Javo can tag along since he's with Earth's Guardian...))

Javo, endlessly tagging along with Ash, had ended a rather strange and uncomfortable night with falling asleep in a wooden chair, probably even less comfortable than the floor, a place he was used to. Because of this, his sleep thinned to the point where even the slightest of sounds would wake him up. So, he spotted Ash as she began to walk out the door, pretending to sleep for another few minutes, before rising as well, tiptoeing past the others and out the door, grabbing his weapons on the way out. From there he could spot Ash talking with Hugh, and so made his way over, as casually as he could, trying to make it look like he had just happened to stumble out of slumber.

He yawned and stretched his arms as he approached, before ending up next to the two. "Hey, we leaving soon?" Javo asked when beside Ash, not knowing the same question had just been asked.

Jude stood atop the gnarled branches of an ancient tree, which leaned out far over the canyon's depths. Below him, hidden safely from Garthox's eyes, weaving throughout the canyon, lay the forces of his rebellion. Time had been hard on Jude. It had forced him to become the killer he had never wanted to be, the leader he never thought he could be. He was like a time tested blade, strengthened and fortified by constant battle. His very body was a testament to his change. No longer was he the wide eyed youth he had once been. These two years had crushed the love from his eyes, the wonder from his soul. The 19 year old man stood tall, proud and strong, but he exuded weariness, as if he carried the weight of the world on his shoulders. In a way, he did. The scar over his eye had been a gift from Garthox's man, the swift swordsman. But that had only been a part of the gift. The other part had been the knowledge. Knowledge of other worlds. Of people, known as Guardians, with power far greater than mortal men. So Jude did what he could to combat Garthox, to attempt to free his evil forces from his home land. But he knew what he was really doing. He was waiting. Waiting for the Guardians to come and save all of Flinx from this mighty evil. Until then, all he could do was keep it at bay. Dropping off the tree, wind whipped around him, strengthening, and holding him up, blowing powerfully, as it became a physical force, raising and carrying him through the canyon, like a bird on the wing.

======================================

Gabriel stirred from the shadows. Others were rising now. Morphing back into his true shape, he walked from the house, cracking his joints as he did so. You would think that the bright sunlight would hurt and weaken a being of darkness such as himself. But in truth, the light only made the darkness stronger, more defined. Walking over to where his fellow Guardian, Ash, was, he crouched on the ground, silently. Awaiting instructions. Lifting his hand, small figures grew from his shadow, and he idly played with them, sending them through mock dances, increasing his skill and dexterity with this new and powerful aspect of his magic.

Ash nodded her head at Hugh's words and answered Javo's question, "Yes we will. Once most of us have awoken, we'll leave." All the while, Ash was holding onto the opaque orb, turning it about in her hand. As Gabriel came out of the house as well, Ash watched him summon his powers and manipulate the darkness. She too was curious about her own extra abilities but was hesitant about trying them out. Traveling through time was something that left questions in her mind. One of them being, could she actually save Farath?

Could she go back in time and stop Azrael from stabbing him. But at the same time, she was unsure if that was wise at all. Farath was blinded by hate that he had been willing to kill his own brother. Sighing, Ash decided to test her new powers later on when she was of a clear mind.

"We'll have to go research on caves, Javo. The only thing I know is that the necklaces are in an underground cave. But I'm not sure exactly which cave it is. All I remember is the images," Ash spoke to Javo before asking Gabriel, "What is the item that you must find?"

Re: THE GUARDIANS- Journey to the Worlds

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Skallagrim on Sun Jul 13, 2008 11:09 am

The hellish winds whipped through the vast obsidian corridors, creating a mewling that nipped and tugged at the sanity of those who heard it. Shadows darted and danced among the weirdly ached halls, seemingly flowing and oozing with a malignant life of their own. To the people of Flinx it was the herald of Garthox’s presence upon their world, the singular black tower rising from the ruins and ashes of the blast land where the lord of nightmares had placed his will.

Seated upon the massive basalt throne, the great Garthox pondered his next actions, the insanely chittering young elves, and the silvered chain that attached them to their master rested loosely along the blasted and cracked floor. The two girls and the single boy, their once beautiful features had been twisted into a horrific visage. A visage that was forced upon them as they had been linked to the lord of nightmares and their minds shattered by the overwhelming horror they experienced those first hours.

The great sword rested against the throne, the immense void that comprised the blade seemed to wink and sparkle. If one were to look deeply upon the blade they would have realized the pin points of lights were similar to the stars in the night sky above them. The massive handle, wrapped in the hide of a beast long forgotten to all but Garthox and the Creator, was caressed by the massive taloned hand of he who should not be.

The immense horned head twisted and turned towards the vast swirling miasma of hell-wind that rose and fell, then gathered debris about it self, giving form to a hideous golem with massive glowing embers where eyes should be, “Massssteeeeerrrrrr….”

With a barely perceptible motion, the lord of nightmares turned the glowing energies that flowed and drifted from his eye sockets upon the golem, “Speak my major domo, what troubles you?”

The golem swayed as the hell winds struggled to maintain control of its form, “There appearssss to be ssssome creaturessss of thisss world who have taken up armssss againsssst usss…”

Garthox digested the words, processed their meaning even as he did so the eerie and demented mewlings from his servants increased in pitch, until the boy’s voice rose to a hideous tortured screech.

With a subtle yank on the chain the elf boy lowered his head and fell back to the chittering and mindless wailings of the other two. Garthox reached forward with his powers, as he did so the dull gray sky above the tower rumbled as the gray became black, twisted forms of eldritch lighting arced and skittered across the skies. Thick and jagged bolts of multi-colored energy crackled and sizzled as they darted and slammed into the blasted and crackled earth around the tower.

“Very well, we shall deal with…wait…wait…they are moving now…crossing the void to the worlds, seeking their weapons against me!” Garthox mused as a tremendous shockwave from the cascading thunder seemed to shake the tower. The whirling miasma of energies coalesced and then flared brilliantly, changing from white to green to a crimson that bathed and illuminated the room in a hellish glow. “So it begins in earnest does it?” With a surge of power, Garthox reached out and touched his minions, “Attend me well my faithful, for now the struggle for supremacy has begun. Crush them crush them all!”
The writer who cares more about words than about characters, action, setting, atmosphere is unlikely to create a vivid and continuous dream; he gets in his own way too much; in his poetic drunkenness, he can't tell the cart- and its cargo- from the horse.

"The Sitora Armour." Gabriel replied to Ash. His voice was low, yet it held power, and there was no mistaking what he had said. "Must we all journey alone?" He asked. While he seemed like the strong silent type, full of power and confidence that needed no words, in reality he was just an ordinary guy, doing his best to cope with the twist in his fate, and trying his hardest to protect the worlds. He was no hero. Just a man doing what he had to. In a way, this gave him strength. The strength that came from knowing what he did was right, and that he had the strength of the common man behind him. He couldn't help but wish he truly was a hero like those of old though. It sure seemed like things would be much easier if he was an all mighty hero like the former Guardians, those ancient heros. Perhaps the Sitora Armour would grant this strength to him. He already had the conviction.

Re: THE GUARDIANS- Journey to the Worlds

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Chronepsis on Sun Jul 13, 2008 2:50 pm

It had been a sleep filled with terrible dreams. Nothing of the Great Lord's report, but of his own mind. He had been back home, and his parents had still been alive. He was but a child but he retained knowledge of his abilities gained up to now. They had been eating a fine feast, pheasant and boar, along with a large assortment of fruits. Of a sudden, bandits had burst through the doors of the dining hall, killing the servants on their way in. Through the now shattered doors, Azrael could see many more burly, unwashed men running through the corridors of his home, terrorizing the help and stealing anything they could take.

His father told the bandits to take whatever they wanted, but to leave his family be. The man who seemed to be the leader merely sneered at him and licked his curved blade wickedly. One of the men behind him grabbed for Azrael's mother, and his father lunged at the man. The leader brought his sword up to strike him down, and Azrael yelled for it to stop. Time slowed, and he knew he had all the time he needed to stop what he knew was going to happen. He moved to stop the leader, then terror took him. He was moving no faster than anyone else in the room, and he knew it was too late to stop it now. Watching as the world seemed to slow to a crawl, the leader struck his father across the chest, eviscerating him, and another man slit his mother's throat as she screamed for her dying husband. Azrael could feel himself shaking uncontrollably as the leader slowly walked across the dining hall to him, an evil grin plastered across his features. Raising his blade once more to strike the child, he brought it down, and time returned to normal speed. Azrael braced for the end, knowing the bandit was going to kill him where he stood.

Azrael came to with a start, as though landing from a great fall. Sitting up, covered in a sheen of sweat, Azrael inhales deeply and looks at his right hand, tightly gripping the hilt of his rapier. Steadying his breathing, he walks to the washbasin across the room, his bare feet making soft thuds on the wooden floors. He stares at his reflection in the water, wondering if these dreams would ever stop. Placing his hands in the water, Azrael splashes his face to clear his mind. He walks back over to the blanket and grabs his shirt, sliding into it before shoving on his boots. Standing at the edge of the blanket for a moment more, he hears the others already stirring and decides it is about time to leave. Azrael puts on his most charming smile and straps his sword belt on his waist as he walks out to the gateways.

The wind tugged at Kiana’s long brown hair, whipping it around her face and shoulders. She ignored it, all her attention focused on the spirit before her. Candles illuminated the graveyard where she sat, the black figure dancing in front of her, encased in smoke.
The spirit couldn’t escape Kiana’s control, for she had trapped it with a spell only she could break. Now, it would never see freedom or peace until it had fulfilled it’s duties, which was anything she wished. Her mind closed around the spirit’s, overwhelming it. She snarled as she received the information her small spy had brought to her. The Guardians were on the move. Unfortunately the spirit did not understand what they were saying, and could only bring her it’s sight. She forced her mind farther into the spirit’s weak one, causing it pain while she probed for information.
In her mind she saw a guardian holding an orb, studying it. The orbs were the instruments that allowed them to travel the worlds. Kiana reached into the pack she always had strapped to her side. In it were vials empty and vials full, text of necromancy and her tools. She reached for one of the cool glass vials, pulling the small brown cork from the top. She tightened her hold on the spirit and forced it into the bottle, shrill cries filling her head.
Finally, she had trapped it, and she shook the bottle cruelly, hearing a light rattling noise as it bounced off the glass.
“I will keep you longer.” She whispered to the spirit as it’s face appeared against the bottle. Kiana replaced it, dropping the vial among the others. She stood, leaving her small circle of candles with her pack over her shoulder. The cold of Belluvier didn’t effect her as it did others, which was obvious by her dress. She was barely covered, her light purple grab only covering everything she deemed necessary. She squinted in the wind, and found herself wrestling parts of dress back into place.
After she was prepared, she left the graveyard to find or contact her allies, the other minions under her master, to tell them what she had learned.

Arose from his slumber, his body fully recovered from the pervious adventure upon the world of Beluvier. Oddly enough, the mer-man did not feel as if anything had happened, almost as if the entire battle with the dread servants of Garthox had been a mere dream; however, his subconscious knew that this was not true and did not allow him to entertain this fairy-tale for very long. Always prepared, the soldier from Solas had never relaxed; due to this, his battle dress and glaives were already placed upon his body. His lean form coiled, propelling him off of the mat he had been sleeping on for the past while. The wooden floor made a load "thump" as his tough soles hit the wooden floor. A soft light was visible as it crept its way into the room. Eager to return to the clear oceans and turbulent waters of his home world, his feral eyes were wide open without a shadow of exhaustion.

Kairen took no care to make little noise, the others would need to get up anyways; however, the fish-man didn't step on anyone or even allow his feet to touch them. As he opened the door soundlessly, he realized that he had not been the first to rise. The men of Solas, trained in war and competition, were not used to being bested in any regard, including who is up and about first. He leaned against the structure, allowing his eyes to observe the other that had crept out of the building before he had. No attempt was made at conversation; Kairen Al-manar just stared, not even hiding his curiosity at the creatures before him. This was the first time that he had been able to observe people other than those that live within the depths of Solas.

Moira woke with a start but remained in her place on the floor savoring the warmth of the air and the sun light streaming through the smallest of spaces between boards. She felt the others beginning to stir. The desire to avoid their pitying eyes overcame her desire to remain in a half sleep and she pulled herself from her place.

That pity they felt for her only deepened the guilt she felt at having done nothing while Garthox's Necromancer crushed the hope from her people as surely as Garthox had stolen the heat and light of the sun. She could barely stand looking any of them in the eyes when they filled with pity for her. And now... Now this so called "gift" of reading minds. God's Tree of Wisdom had filled her head to dizzying capacity with knowledge she had no right to claim. She could adjust to this-savor it even. But to know what they were thinking when they looked at her with those sad eyes. It was unbearable. She had to find a way to shut it off. To block it out except when she needed it.

Moira sighed and made her way to stand beside the Karnog. Gabriel was his name. So young to be tasked with such a thing, Moira thought to herself as she nodded her head in greeting to all present.

Announcing her intentions into the air, Moira sounded far more confident than she felt.

"I will travel with the Fairy, Anila, if she will have me. My home is lost, but I would delay the loss of her's, if it is in my power. The knowledge given to me by the tree lets me know precisely where my object is secreted. Once I have aided Anila, it will be a simple thing for me to return home and retrieve it."

Moira closed her eyes and focused on enjoying the warm, clean morning air.

The sun set on the Theodosian fields, highlighting the mounds of corpses quite nicely in an eerie orange glow. The wind blew with an anti-climatic marshlands breeze, carrying the faint smell of salt air across the battlefield. But there was still a war going on, the very last of the traitorous ranks were being crushed by the 137th Armor Devision, a moving mass of enchanted hulking metal suits and gruesome spiked blades. The screams of the rival riflemen were evident as the calvary charged through their ranks, slaughtering the rival army to a man.

It was the scene of yet another twisted war in Claudius's war of conquest on this world, under the command of Gorthax's eternal darkness and general weirdness, as you had to confess, even though he served the Great Lord loyally, his master was quite insane, and had a habit of making that the problem of others, too.

Claudius himself was safely looking over the scene of the battle from a convenient bluff that had been created by a misplaced magic pylon that had blown it's storage capacity and cleared out half a granite cliff.

Then, his master was calling, reaching out from the void to tell him and other minions of dire news for the Eternal Empire. The damn guardians had risen again, and in the middle of a campaign. He would have to speak with Gorthax himself, but only once this war was done and over, which it would be soon, seeing as how five magic Pylons had dropped near the casters nest. Now that this heavy support was done, the normal foot soldiers had moved in and tried to slaughtered the lot of hostiles, but not before the damn elves blew themselves up in a massive shower of magical fire.

He set off, yelling one command over the din before leaving for the world where he would meet up with the rest of the Guardians.

They are back! This war is nothing compared to that! You know what you must do!

His senior commanders would understand this command perfectly, doing exactly as they told and preparing the entire might of his army for the war to come

Hugh sensed them all awakening and turned to watch as one by one, they came to stand outside. All with a fierce front that depicted their determination. It was never an easy thing, carrying so much power within them. He had seen many Guardians crumble, feeling burdened by the weight of the extra abilities. He could only hope that this group of Guardians would pull through because if the prophecy was right, this would be the final battle between ancient evil and good.

Hugh's eyes fell upon Azrael. Everytime he saw that human, he was reminded of his brother Farath. The death was recent and the memories were fresh in his mind. He had distrusted the young man before but was now slowly coming to trust him although the dark energy from him was still present.

"You may young one," Hugh smiled down at Moira at her request to travel with the fairy, "Just ensure that you get your item safely." Instead of following the Guardians back into the own Worlds, Hugh had to seek council with the High Kings and watch over the Land of Arilt. Farath's orb was missing and Hugh knew that it was now in the possession of one of the minions.

Before heading back into the house, Hugh nodded his head and Ash took note.
.................................................................................................................

She turned to face her fellow Guardians and attempted to smile. Some knew others well but there were still new to each other. And yet, they had to trust one another. "We'll be heading back to our own Worlds now. As you know, the orb that you're holding onto will allow us to transport back into our own worlds. But there is one more thing it can do. It will allow us to communicate with one another. Not by images but by words. If you speak into it, it will transmit the message to the rest of us. However, you must be careful what message you send for Hugh has reason to believe one of the minions holds the orb."

That done, Ash placed her hand on her hips and looked at each one of them, "Shall we leave?"

As Kiana briskly walks through the darkened path of the once bright street the surrounding darkness seems to condense and coalesce, eventually forming into the shade of a tall cloaked figure, walking silently to Kiana’s left. His cloak billowing in the silent winds of the scarred planet the Minion known as Grim, or the Assassin walks silently by his fellow servant to the dark lord. Breaking the cold silence a voice characteristic of the wailing dead or a screeching chalkboard echoes through the cold night/

“What news have you?”

As he silently waited for a reply Grim thought of his next move. He knew what she had heard, there were perks to being the master of the shadow on a half dead planet after all. It was merely a courtesy, and an excuse to approach Kiana. He’d have to seek out one of the guardians personally; it was annoying, but necessary. Just the same he didn’t plan on leaving Kiana alone, with the other three Minions or any of the Guardians for that matter. Likely another breaking would soon be in order, painful, but also necessary.

As his mind continued yet again to wander it turned to the scantily clad form that walked beside him. Kiana, the Necromancer, and new Queen of an entire world. He had long since begun to ignore her scantily clad form, and begun to more revel in her presence. Having been around someone for ten thousand years tended to form bonds, even if they were only one way.

Kiana heard the voice of her ally and friend, and recognized it instantly.
Grim. She thought, turning to him. She kept her pace, knowing he would walk with her, all the way to her castle if she wished. He had been around a lot recently, whether on Garthox’s orders or by his own wishes was a mystery to her. She studied him, his appearance matching her new world perfectly. He was almost camouflaged against the dead trees and plants, and the cold stone graves. Grim had always been a master at camouflage though, whether it be day or the darkest part of night.

“It seems my spirit slave could give me no more then a garbled message, but I could through it's clouded eyes. The Guardians have indeed gathered, and go to protect their worlds.” Kiana said, her voice high but not unpleasant. “I assume Garthox knows this, I just received his message after the ceremony.”

She had indeed received Garthox’s message. Fortunately, he had already taken her world, leaving her in control. She need not worry about the guardians so much as the other minions. She had a whole world at her disposal, and could do as she wished. She planned on turning Belluvier into a world of Necromancy, her most prized art.
She forced her mind away from her future plans and back to her ally. He would be chasing Guardians like the others, unlike her. She wouldn’t have to leave Belluvier unless instructed by her master himself. If any Guardian dared to venture on her lands, they would find them more hostile then any other in existence.

“It seems my spirit slave could give me no more then a garbled message, but I could through it's clouded eyes. The Guardians have indeed gathered, and go to protect their worlds. I assume Garthox knows this, I just received his message after the ceremony.”

Slowly digesting her comments Grim continued through the dark and silent ruin of the once great world.

“Our Lord has many ways to know of such things, some he chooses to share with his servant, others not. As for the Guardians they make foolish mistakes so early in the game. Many of them may fall in the first days to come for their foolishness. Have you yet decided whether you will seek out the Guardians, or set a snare for them here?”

It was almost laughable that these young hot-headed fools would willingly loose their greatest strength so quickly. The only advantage they had against the minions was their numbers, and in some cases, worlds untouched by the Lord Garthox’s hand. With their numbers dissipated they would likely be picked apart one by one. His first reaction had been to go after the youth that would be traveling to Grim’s former home. Yet he had soon dismissed this, why go after the one he knew he could defeat without a second thought? Through the power of their Lord Garthox he had uncovered all the powers of his realm, and in the end his experience, or just his skill with the blade, would easily prevail.

All that was really left was to decide which of the Guardians should fall to his blade. Some things could not be planned for, and this could become one such thing. Continuing at his unflinching pace Grim continued onward at the side of Kiana, never wavering, never changing, always stalwart and resolute in his self-imposed duty.

Kiana listened to Grim. She had expected him to ask that question, and did not know if her answer would offend any of the other minions. She did not want to seem self-absorbed due to her new status, but she knew she would do better for her master in her world, where she was Queen.

“I will stay. One of the Guardians will come here, I am sure of it.” She said. “Besides, this is now the world of the walking dead. The whole place is a trap, no one could survive here without my permission.”

Kiana looked away from Grim, catching the sight of her large stone castle from the corner of her eye. The sight of it always pleased her, no matter how many times she glanced upon it each day. It was full of her slaves, the reeking dead, but she had grown accustom to the smell. And the sound of their grinding throats as they moaned and clacked in their dying language was soothing to her ears alone.
Her sight skimmed over the rubble as she returned her gaze back to Grim. Her deadly ally was reassuring, even though she felt safe enough. Having another minion with her gave her a feeling not only of importance, but of protection.

“I will stay. One of the Guardians will come here, I am sure of it.” She said. “Besides, this is now the world of the walking dead. The whole place is a trap, no one could survive here without my permission.”

Smiling lightly beneath his hooded visage Grim continued walking towards the massive castle looming ahead. Within it labored the decrepit beings that could only be called the most pitiful of slaves. Their strange language annoyed and slightly unnerved him, more from his inability to decipher it than in its unholy nature. Still, he continued onward unhindered.

“You know the strengths of your realm like no other, just the same there is no point in risking the waste of your disciples, it would be best to be cautious with the approach of one who also once called this place home, and knows many of the secrets of its power. Besides, the best traps are those in which one knows not they are snared until the last moments.”

Having been careful to merely make suggestions, and to not order or act as if talking to a lesser individual Grim continued onward. He would have to part from her soon, off at their Lord’s command to hunt those that would appose him. Even after all this time he wasn’t sure whether his feelings were one sided, or even noticed. He could almost laugh, after ten thousand years he was still a nervous wide eyed kid with a handful of flowers. But then again she wasn’t like the soft, ditsy girls he’d been after all those millennia ago. Nothing at all like that, and after all this time that was what he’d come to love most about her. Feeling blood rush to his covered cheeks he recalled the situation at hand, turning to Kiana, and bowed lightly.

“Good hunting, leave me a shrunken head if you don’t mangle them up too bad.”

With a last fleeting smile he seemed to melt into the darkness, off to the portals.

As he awaited the departure of the guardians, Azrael leaned casually against the side of the small house, quietly assessing each guardian as they emerged. He thought he had decided his target before they had come back to this place, but now he wasn't quite sure. Thinking back to the battle with the possessed trees, Azrael calculated the strength of each guardian and what strategies would be available to them should a fight ensue. He needed to kill one of the stronger guardians, but at the same time, he had to be sure his attack would succeed, lest all this work have been for naught.

The Solas Merman is not an option, as there is very little land for me to fight on, giving him the advantage. The Dreign, from the looks of her, is being overwhelmed by information. That means people's minds are screaming at her. If I let slip for even one second, she will know my true intent. I should think Grim would want to take the guardian from his former home, and I'll not take that from him, as I would not care to waste my time fighting shadows, only to be struck down by a child. Fairies have flight, giving them the high ground, and elves are renowned for their spellcraft. That leaves the Callux and the other human.

Azrael looks to Ash and Hugh and smiles sadly, forcing moisture to his calculating eyes. The watering would give the illusion of haunting memories while he studied them. Which Guardian to choose? He knew the Callux was a well versed swordswoman, but the human also had great control of time, and that would cause problems for any but him, and the Great Lord, of course. Sighing, partially to emphasize the sorrow he portrayed, and partially in resignation at a decision not entirely promising, Azrael pushes himself off the wall with his shoulders. He approaches Ash and Hugh and bows.

"Young one, I would like to offer my services to you on your journey. I hope that they are well received and most useful to you in your quest to find what you seek." Remaining bent, Azrael lifts his eyes expectantly to look into Ash's.

Re: THE GUARDIANS- Journey to the Worlds

Deep in the swirling chaos of nightmare stuff, horrific screams echoed along the shadows halls. Garthox mused silently as the gnarled taloned hands interlocked. The whorls of energy that swam and surged in the eye sockets seemed to shrink to points of light, a deep inhale of fetid breath as the lamentations of the elves continued to surround the lord of nightmares.

“My minions…those who oppose my will, the Guardians, are gathering strength even now. Crush them…shred their flesh from their bones. Drink deeply of their sorrow; blacken their worlds with the spread of my will. Trample their fragile hopes and allow the mourning of their dead to caress you and give you strength. This time we shall win…” Garthox whispered to the hellish winds that continual surrounded him, then it was gone, the message was being carried by the major domo, to the minions who served He who should not be.

Turning his attention to his three pet elves, Garthox spoke lowly to them, as he finished the words, the three elves began to chant, their voices rising and falling in an anguished manner, their bodies pitching to and fro as if some unheard music was compelling their bodies to move. Tapping the great blackened throne with an idle talon, Garthox allowed the energies to flare once again, illuminating the area around him with a dull and sickly yellow light.

With a mere thought of his mind, Garthox began to gather the nightmare substance around his body, the thick viscous material stretched and mutated shimmering and flashing until out of the miasma, the unholy canine headed ape-like creatures, called Cynocephali, began to crawl. Their eyes a maddening glow of the deepest crimson, framed by the dusky shadows that comprised their bodies. The howl of the Cynocephali began to echo in the vast throne room. With a malevolent smile, Garthox said, “Go forth my pets, go forth and slay those of this world, slay the fairies for me. Rend them and suck the marrow from their pathetic bones.”

The largest of the Cynocephali snapped and snarled at Garthox, then in a rasped and tortured voice said, “Yesss masssster!” The deeply crimson glow in its eyes flared and glowed demonically as it wheeled and began a series of howls and snarls that seemed to arouse the others. In a flash the horde flowed and trampled through the dark halls and erupted from the front gate in a swarm of shadowed limbs and red glowing energies where eyes should be.

Above the great tower the black clouds roared and thundered, multi-colored arcs of lighting streaked across the skies, any who looked closely at the massive black thunderhead would see what appeared to be nightmare shapes of riders and mind-shattering glimpses of the beasts being ridden.

Garthox heard the cacophony and smiled cruelly, "Soon my riders, soon I shall unleash you upon this world and we will burn it to a charred husk. Let us see if their god can save them this time."
