((Hung Lo Gai
Gai camp, just off the northern tip of Jing))

Wind blew gently through the sleeping camp, blowing Hung Lo's tent door open.
Pale moonlight streamed through the open door, falling crooked on a sleepless soldier. Hung Lo blinked in the sudden light, disturbed by the open door.
He slipped off his bed, walking to the door.
Outside somebody was standing out on the cliff, looking up at the moon.

"Looks like I'm not the only one who can't sleep." Zhein Gai said as his brother arrived by his side.
"Yeah, I've got stuff on my mind... what about you brother?" Hung Lo turned to face his brother, watching his face closely.
"The battle has me preoccupied as well, brother." He hesitated for just a moment before turning his face away from Hung Lo Gai.
"What troubles you Zhein?" Hung Lo placed his gloved hand on Zhein's shoulder, trying to comfort him.
Zhein paused further, thinking over his words.
"Brother, I... I'll be glad to join you in battle." Zhein smiled weakly, barely looking at Hung Lo.
"Yes! The battle is nearly upon us, and neither Shima Liam, or Jin Liam, will stop us." Hung Lo shook his fist, confident in his enemies destruction.
"Tomorrow, Jing province will fall to Gai Family! And I shall be one step closer to the throne." Hung Lo jumped off the edge of the raised earth, filled with courage.
His brother, Zhein Gai, wasn't as confident.
"Brother, times of war are upon us, and you will not be emperor..." Zhein spoke softly up at the moon, it's pale light touch his face gently. "I shall make sure of it..."

((Jin Liam,
Liam Camp, just off the southern tip of Jing))

Fires flickered low in the war tent. Generals and councilors, soldiers and peasants alike stood grouped in the dim light around their leader, the crowd stretched all the way out of the tent and throughout the camp of Liam.
"Loyal servants of Liam!" Jin Liam began, pacing the small stage that was prepared.
"Tomorrow, Gai family will attempt to take Jing province, this you all know." Jin paced, his eyes burning into the crowd of people.
"But we shall take it from under their nose! Gai family will go fleeing back to their provinces, and Liam family will chase them down!" Jin pumped his fist into the air, sending a shockwave of cheers and shouts from the crowd.
Men cheered and shouted out their encouragement for their lord, while Shima stood quiet in the corner, two fingers massaging the bridge of his nose.
Jin stepped down from the platform, making his way through his men and towards his friend.
"Shima, what's on your mind?" Jin put his hand on Shima's shoulder.
“I’ve been having head pains General...” Shima heaved a sigh and look up at Jin. “But worry not, I will still fight.”
Jin nodded slowly, taking a step back from Shima. “The gods are still with us...”

Buton fastened his armor hours ago, he was overly cautious at times.
He vowed he wouldnt die until he payed back all the people that aided him in his childhood.
After all the cheers were done he walked up to Shima and patted his back.

"You'll do fine Shima! We'll win this battle for sure and you will light the way!"

He never did care for the formalities in the chain of command.

"The calm before the storm?" Zao Shosun, the Bastard, asked no one in particular. The night sky was clear and the stars shown with an almost eerie brightness over the plain that would spell death for a good thousand at the very least on the morrow. A scarred and bald man, who was missing an eye and a few fingers, walked out of the tree line and tossed a plum to Zao. Reaching up the young warrior caught it deftly and took a small bite. "No one battle is decisive. Only through time and well placed strikes can you defeat an army. Do you know who said that, Jinto?"

The veteran lancer shook his head as he bit into his own plum, "No, Lord Zao. I am not a man of books."

"I said it." replied Zao. Tossing the plum stem under a tree, Zao stood and tied his long bedraggled hair into a knot on his head. "I'm pretty sure a wise tactician said something similar at some point and time, not that it matters."

"Would you like me to wake Migen and the men, Lord Zao?" Jinto asked, as he threw his own stem over his shoulder. "It will be dawn in a few hours."

Zao picked up his sword and strung it around his shoulder before answering, "Yes. Today we find out which of these armies has the most to offer. Did you send a letter to both?"

"Yes, Lord Zao." answered Jinto. "I sent two local boys, as I didn't think we had the men to spare. I promised them positions as soldiers if they completed the task. I don't plan on actually putting a sword in their hands should they return, eventually, but not now."

The Bastard of Shosun nodded and dismissed Jinto.

(heh gonna post my own army's thoughts)

Lucas and his father stood on the outskirts of Jing watching the horizon. "Father should we really risk our lives...for this I'd reather not serve either of those men.." Lucas' father turned and smiled slightly "sometimes to get ahead we must do things that seem out of place and far from righteous" His father stated receiving a scowl from Lucas in return as they returned to the camp and Lucas to his own tent. He walked in getting ready for this battle, strapping on his armor and his dragon shoulder guard as he picked up his giant broadsword (OOC:It was in my photo XD) and gripped the hilt tightly "This...this goes against what i believe in.." he said as he exited the tent and headed towards his men.

His father on the other hand was in the main tent coming up with battle plans and listening to the ideas of his officers on which force to join. "We should join the Liam family they may not have many men but their tactics far outshine our own" One of the officers called "No we should join Gai they've more chances of winning with brute strength.." The two officers began to glare at each other as Lucas' father rose his hand "Enough...we will decide once the battle has come and no sooner.." That was the last word spoken in the main tent as the officers returned to their posts.

"Suggest that we escape by putting fish in our mouths so we can breath while under water AGAIN I will Ninja punch you so hardcore it will knock you out and when you wake up? the force of it will knock you out a second time before you wake up!"

((Shima Liam,
In Liam Camp))

The speech now done, Shima slipped outside the tent, avoiding the people. Somebody had patted him on the back, but , he couldn't exactly remember who know. Sweat rolled down his head, and he quickened his pace towards his tent. His head was throbbing, colors swirled in front of his eyes, everything blurred, going in and out of focus.
With every heartbeat his head nearly split in two. Shima felt sudden waves of hot and cold hit him, bringing him to a wobbly stop. The world wouldn't stop spinning, and standing up was getting harder by the second. Things were becoming confusing now, he couldn't remember what was going on...
Throb... Throb... Throb...
"H-h-help..." Shima fell to his knees, the earth crunching softly below him. The earth spun once, twice, and then darkness...

((Jin Liam,
In Liam Camp))

Everyone was in great spirits, the men were enjoying themselves, while the crickets outside chirped a song for them.
"Isn't the night marvelous?" Jin asked one of his comrades.
"Lord! Shima Liam need help!" Someone shouted among the crowd. "What?!" Jin ran outside, to see Shima sprawled out on the ground, his face red with fever.
"Get him inside!" Jin shouted out, rousing the men into action. "And fetch the healer!" He finished.
"This is not good... Shima cannot be killed now!" The general stomped after his troops, worried for his friend.

Jin had been sitting outside the healers tent for what felt like hours before he got any news.
"Sir, Shima is suffering from a high fever." One of the soldiers reported. "They foudn an infected cut on the back of his leg, they seem to think it's been there for a while." The soldier hesitiated, watching his lord for a reaction.
"That's Shima, too proud to admit he'd been hurt. How is he?" Jin sat up, expecting the man to deliver the good news.
"Not too well sir, they are positive he won't be able to fight." And then he was off, not willing to stay near his lord, for fear of reprimand.
Jin stood up, totally silent. His troops looked at him cautiously, wonder if he was going to break down in tears, or walk off, or worse. "I will see him." Jin nearly whispered, walking into the tent.
The tent was dimly lit by candles, and healers scittered too and fro.
Shima laid on a mat, shivering and looking pale.
"Oh, Shima..." Jin walked over by his side, watching his freind mutter and talk to himself. "Shima, are you okay?" He asked, shaking his shoulder.
"Jin?" Shima blinked and focused in on him. "Oh... there you are, you know, you shouldn't walk around with that monkey on your head."
Jin glanced up at his head, not seeing a monkey. "Shima, are you alright?"
"Course I am! We're going to conk Hung Gai on the head with a rod, right?"
"Shima, you don't sound like yourself, you should get some rest." Jin left the tent, hoping his fiend would recover.

(i think this place died)

Buton entered the tent.
He heard the news from a drunk spearman thinking Buton was a Tengu after his soul.
Im mean where did Shima get his men? A tavern???
Well he had no time to dwell on this when his general was bed ridden.

"Sir what is wrong? How will the men be lead to battle without your guidance?"

Re: The Three Kingdoms IC

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby 1LastCry on Mon Jul 06, 2009 1:53 am

In the early mornings, a cheer had erupted from the depths of the Fa Ho region. The cheers echoed their way through, and out of the mountains. Such a sound could have easily been mistaken for tens of thousands of troops, preparing to leave for battle. But to the shock of any still with the courage to be standing within the mountain pass, they would have only found themselves faced against a number of five hundred troops. Four hundred of these troops were infantry, and the other one hundred were archers by their profession.

Riding at the head of this troop were two men, mounted upon steads of noble strength. One of the men was draped in rather scarce armor, only being clothed in heavy cloth and leather. The other was fully clad in metallic armor, complete with a helm, upon which where two devilesque horns.

The less armored one turned to his clearly better equipped companion, surveying him from top to bottom. "Yu Liang, always in his armor!" said Tao Rong.

"Zhen Tao Rong," replied Yu Liang, "never in his armor! May the gods be with us in this next battle, my old friend."

"Yes!" shouted Tao, hoisting his large spear so that it faced ahead of them. "For Liam!"

Some time latter, the force of five hundred troops, under their two commanders arrived on the outskirts of a camp. It had fallen into silence, as night had given way from day, the army of the two rested with their allies. Tao Rong bid Liang good night, and requested that a messenger go to inform Jin Liam of his arrival at the camp.

But the need to soon expired, as the entire camp came into an up roar. From the word that spread, Shima Liam had fallen ill. Tao rushed to follow the crowd. If there was anything that he could do, he was ready to do it.

((Hemin Zhu,
Entering Zhu Mountain Pass))

Wind stormed down the mountains guarding the pass, dumping piles of snow on the ten mounted men trudging through the pass. Snow poured down on them in torrents, nearly burying the horsemen beneath a blizzard.
Through the snowstorm, one of the men shouted up to the leader of the single file formation. "Sir! This storm is too bad! We should turn back and wait it out!" The voice was almost lost in the storm, but Hemin Zhu heard the soldier's call.
"No! We must make it to Zhu Palace! There, Tyu Zim and all of Zhu family waits there! We can't let them down because of this storm!" His confident, steady voice floated through the snow, attempting to comfort his soldiers. None were comforted.

The winds blew harder at them, the horses trudged even more slowly through the snow, and for a second, even Hemin faltered in the snow.
"Sir, We have to turn back! The horses can't go any further through the snow here! They'll die if we try!" The soldiers halted their horses, waiting anxiously for their leader to agree with them and turn back through the storm.
"Troops, return back to your families, I will continue forward, till I reach Zhu palace, so don't worry for me." Then, Hemin turned his horse back and trudged deeper into the pass.

((Tyu Zim,
At Zhu Palace, in Zhu province))

"Where is Hemin?!" Tyu Zim paced up and down an empty corridor of Zhu palace, his boots clicking and echoing down the hallway.
"He should have been here hours ago! The whole of his allies, and his family, are waiting for him!" Tyu hit the wall in frustration, the metal gauntlet clanging loudly against the stone of the palace walls.
“Sir, are you alright?” a voice whispered from the far side of the hallway.
Tyu spun around, gripping his sword. Rong Eastwind was standing at the end of the hall furthest from Tyu, and was looking down at the floor, looking small in the torchlight.
“Yes.... Yes, I’m fine.” Tyu said, regaining his composure. “Aren’t you supposed to be waiting for General Hemin Zhu in the other room?” Tyu asked, trying to appear cool and collected again.
“Sir, I was sent too find you, to ask if Hemin is okay.” Rong said quietly, his head still lowered, his whole body sagging submissively towards the floor.
“Hemin should be arriving in due time.” Tyu assured the young man.
“The Zhu Mountain Pass is sealed shut in a blizzard, or so say the messengers.” Rong bowed politely and waited for Tyu too respond.
“Then he’s merely delayed. We shall start the meeting now, and-” Tyu was cut off as Rong shook his head.
“Hemin Zhu left his escort to push through the blizzard.”
The hallway became silent again.

((Jin Liam,
Liam Camp))

Jin Liam sat out front of Shima's tent, staring down at the ground. Tao Rong had entered the camp, Jin debated going over to see him, but he didn't feel up to it. Shima Liam was sick, and the battle was going to be happening soon. This was not good.
"If we leave now, Jing province belongs to Gai family, and Hung Lo will use that to further his momentum. And we'll be fighting from even closer to Zhu province, and we're on shaky ground with them. Yet we can't fight here without Shima Liam..." Jin sighed, letting his head fall down into his hands.
The gods seemed to be against them.

Zhen Qiao Lin followed closely behind Zhen Tao Rong. She smiled as she entered camp but seeing how down everyone was she immediately frowned. She dismount her horse and walked over to Jim Liam. She kneeled in front of him and place her hand on his. "Is something wrong? Why is everyone down?" she asked then realizing that he was sitting right outside of Shima's tent, she whispered softly. "Is Shima well?"

Qiao stood up and bowed respectfully. "Forgive me, I am Zhen Qiao Lin. Zhen Tao Rong is my older brother." She stood straight and rest a hand on the handle of one of her swords. "My brother must not have spoke about me much, i should get him for that." She said with a hint of playfulness in her voice. "I shall go to my tent and rest, i had a long day and i would like to get as much rest as i can before the great battle ahead of us."

Lucas had bowed to his father, the time to join one of the families was now and his father unavoidably chose the smaller but more tactical army; Liam family. Lucas was given the messege as the second in command and one of the most feared swordsman in his father's army as he hopped into his black staillions Saddle and rode on. His scouts had revealed the exact location of Liam's camp just of southern tip, seeing as they knew the land alot better then most. He rode for quite awhile finally arriving at the entrance stopping and bowing "I've a messege for leader of the Campaign of Jing...I come bearing a Messege from my father ready and willing to help The cause of this battle..." he said he held firm and wouldn't be shunned away and the letter delievered without his own hand, handing it over.

((Chen Eastwind,
In Liam Camp))

Outcast...

The fire burned lower and lower, the dying flames dancing for the lonely Chen Eastwind. Horses snorted and tromped around the camp, metal clinked and men talked around the camp.
Chen Eastwind sat alone in front of his tent, just him and his fire.

Outcast...

The word echoed through his mind. Mixtures of emotion flooded his mind with each remembrance of his past.
They has tossed him out, him, one of their most honored warriors. They chucked him out for upholding the family honor. Eastwind served Liam, regardless of who was to win the throne. If Liam Family marched to war, Eastwind Family did as well. No second thoughts, no betrayal, just honor.
Honor and war.
Chen stood up quickly, turning around to glance at the throng of people around Shima Liam's tent. More people were arriving still, all of them concerned for Shima. None of them concerned wit the battle at hand.
"Shima... Why do they worry about Shima? If they worry about him so much, they'd go to sleep and get some rest for the battle tomorrow." He grumbled, tossing another stick into the fire.
But for all his pessimism, he couldn't sleep either. The thought of battle in the morning was too exciting, too scary, to let him sleep.

Outcast... His mind whispered again.
Chen took his seat, glowering with angry resentment of himself. His family had disowned him, and should he keep fighting for Liam, he may fight his brothers, his uncles and friends.
But doubtless the Gai family would claim his life on the field tomorrow. He had no friends among these soldiers, no people that would watch his back, nobody to bury him should he die.
Nobody to remember him.

The fire collapsed in on itself, sending little burning slivers to float through the air.
"Like fireflies." He noted, watching them fall from the sky, extinguishing themselves as they fell.
Nobody would remember them either.

((Bu Liam))
Zhen Quio Lin had arrived, one of Bu Liam's idols.
Bu Liam may have been younger than her by a few years, but her steel determination, sharp tongue, and quick wits had gotten her into the fight. No man could hold her back from fighting for her family. Code or no code.
Bu grabbed her spear and ran over to the warriors from Lin family, pushing past the questioning faces.
It seemed they too were not used to seeing women fight. Much less girls barely even old enough too marry.

Zhen Quio was heading for a tent, and Bu sped up and intercepted her and her horse.
"General Zhen Quio Lin. May I have a word with you?" Bu asked respectfully.
She hoped that the woman would accept her offer for talk, seeing that nobody could sleep in the camp. Shima was sick, and that meant there were no strategists left in camp. At least, no strategists that the men would let into the war tent. But Bu had a plan, and she needed some support for the other generals to accept it.

Zhen Quio Lin looked at Bu,she knew Bu had always looked up to her and seeing the determination in her eyes Quio smiled. "What is is Bu? Surely you should be getting some rest for the battle ahead." she said calmly but note the urgent tone in Bu's voice and looked at her seriously.
