Figured I might as well leave an interest check ~~sign here please~~ in case I do end up muscling through the heaps of information on my own and decide the make a character. Because, y'know, this does have me intrigued from what I've gathered. On the flipside, however, it's overwhelming when I'm clicking and reading through links as though I've just stumbled onto somebody's thesis on quantum physics and can't find a nice summated paragraph on the story or plot (and what us little people are trying to accomplish). No offence, obviously, lotta love gone into this thing I'm sure.

But when you need a spreadsheet to get the gist of things, that's when you're starting to lose me.

So I guess what I'm asking is, what's the dealio? What is expected of me if I decide to try my hand at joining? What should I take into account so I don't end up making a character that has no relation or impact on the plot? Sorry if I sound vague, I'll have more precise questions once I've gotten through it all. I just need a bit of direction. Probably.

@ Zalgo - while no one in the current cast has demon resemblance, I don't have an issue with demonic traits every here and now. But say you completely give me an ogre or something along those lines where there's bare resemblance to the humanoid feature, I might try and suggest you find a new one - but horns, patches of scales, whatever floats your boat within reason is chill with me.

@Byte - Aaa I'm sorry it has you lost!! I tried to have people proof read this thing for months, so I guess I missed the mark on being clear and concise. So, here goes a new shot at doing that:

Every character should have some important to the plot - I refuse to leave anyone behind on this, and if they didn't I wouldn't have opened it to the public. The spreadsheet while mildly uh, I suppose to keep the character situation neat, anything with a TBA being open. What's expected of you primarily is to contribute to the plot, being active in the chat / OOC, and really to make sure you have fun.

When previously GMing I realized how horrible it felt to watch everyone upstage each other and try to their hand at being the most OP and well, let's just say I wasn't the only one who found it stressful.

The plot itself is kinda scattered about, I admit, but here's the full break down from everything (with unnessary commentary and dumbed down in a way I can actually understand without trying to seem smart or trying to impress everyone):

Thanks to a literal asshole and a shoot out with the police last year, and the head of the department being shot dead, the Mafia and Mobs of the city are undergoing a new sort of stress. The police are throwing in rookie cops and cops who are completely from a different department in to the most lethal and renown Mobs in the city - undercover. Now normally no one would exactly know this, but it threw the Envy Don in the slammer during the summer. So, the goal for the Movs are to generally watch their back and try and work together in order to eliminate the rats within their own Families. The goal for the (who'll get PMs and be told if they are undercover for an added surprise effect) is to 1. Not die because that would sorta suck, and 2. Take down the Crime Organizations.

This is one of the biggest busts in New Wicker history taking place, and some plants might have very well been there for years.

Not so much a lack of clear and concise communication, more taken aback by the D&D-esque lorebook fashion the information was displayed. Which I honestly quite like, it was just a bit daunting to be sure. Anyway, thanks I think your brief clarifications have helped.

That said, is the spreadsheet just to show which roles are taken/available? Or are we free to add as we wish, provided the roleplay doesn't get too convoluted with characters and motivations and what not? If you're curious, I was thinking either some crook acting as information broker for the mafia or a private detective hellbound on bringing the villains to justice. Simplifying, obviously, but it doesn't really fit within the cop/mafia spectrum since they'd be an outside party with possible affiliation to one (or both depending on the idea, I guess).

At any rate, I think I can managed reading through the things now that some have been clarified. Thanks, really. ^^;

If I've any more questions I'll let you know. For now, I'll muse a bit more on a character in case my current idea won't stick. Until then.

@Byte - Due to the original convolution, I would like to keep roles in a fashion where as this is basically where as you can be an affiliated member, a affiliated member but both were a member in a past (which sounds like it could work with your particular idea of information broker), a prostitute (Gigolo or just a regular ol' one), the two dons (Wrath and sloth) and a consigliere).

However, clearly after these said characters are applied for and accepted, further ideas and plot twists I heavily will speak to you and anyone else in PM, so don't lose faith just yet. One step at a time, yeah?

Makes sense. I'll try not to deviate too much from the general roles, and work out my broker character if that's alright. Should have an application up when I can muster the time and effort. As for any further ideas, I suppose I'll put those on hold. No rush, I just like to come prepared. Especially when something's gotten me interested to this point. :)

Just so everyone knows, I will be aiming to start the roleplay around the end of this week. Maybe Friday or Saturday. Which means - any additional characters you might want to make or any questions need to be in by Wednesday. The gang form, preferably by Wednesday as well.

I have a lot I need to do before then as well, so if anyone needs any help please let me know. Otherwise characters need to be done by Friday. Thursday I'll be creating an NPC sheet for characters that are needed to be filled still.
