Introduction
12 years ago the world changed when a demon lord tore a rift between worlds and launched an all out attack attacked on the city of Haven. Taken by surprise humanity was forced to acknowledge the existence of demons and the supernatural. Meanwhile the demon lord took control of a huge part of the city. The first battles of the war were easily won by the demons, but eventually the people of Haven started to push back.
In a final massive struggle humanity triumphed and killed the demon lord. However, as he died he cast a curse, corrupting the city with his power. The rift closed as thick red rain poured from the sky. The surviving demons fled to the darkest holes and corners of the city, but they remained.
Not long after the effects of the curse became evident. Animals and plant life became twisted and often dangerous. Some humans also began to develop paranormal abilities. These humans became feared for their frightening powers and their tendencies to lose control.
So that's when you come in. You are a citizen for modern day Haven. The city is still being rebuilt and paranoia is everywhere. Armed forces patrol the streets for demons and corrupted animals. The number of corrupted humans is on the rise, as is the number of them that lose control.
So what will you do? Will you join the police department or Haven Office of Demon Affairs and try to restore order? Will you make a profit off the chaos as a demon hunter?
Or perhaps you're a part of Haven's Curse, one of the poor souls corrupted by demonic power. What about you? Will you stand with humanity or take the city for your own kind?
Corrupted Humans
These people have developed supernatural abilities as a result of Haven's Curse. They are classified as stable and unstable. A stable person is usually in full control of his/her abilities but is far weaker than one who is unstable. Unstable people on the other hand frequently lose control of their abilities, their powers grow and continue to grow rapidly in strength, on top of this they are prone to going insane. A stable person can become unstable when put under extreme stress although some people are unstable from the moment their powers start to develop. They are referred to by many as "Freaks" and are meant to register with the Haven Office of Demon Affairs, although many prefer to hide their nature.
Demon Hunters
Many humans can’t wait for the H.O.D.A. to track down certain demons and will pay money to anyone that can. Demon hunting is illegal because it's so dangerous and because some hunt demons for demonic substances like demon blood. Some hunters will also target corrupted humans, for the right price.
H.O.D.A.
The Haven Office of Demon Affairs is responsible for cleansing the city of Demons. They research demons, the corrupted and all things related to Haven's curse. They also monitor and regulate registered corrupted humans. Rumors claim that they preform illegal experiments on corrupted humans, but those are just rumors... right?
Demons
Demons are split into two classes, lesser and higher.
Lesser: These are mainly monstrous mixes of animals that can sometimes possess paranormal powers. They are very similar to corrupted animals, except they are usually more powerful and more intelligent.
Higher: These are very rare. They are at least as smart as humans and can have humanoid forms (although not always). They are capable of using powerful supernatural abilities and commanding lesser demons.

To get things started I decided to add a few characters. Fill free to use them along with your own characters. You can use one if you want but please PM me first.
- Sweeney McCarthy - the overweight, middle aged owner of McCarthy's pub
- Elizabeth Ross aka Liz - a young police officer at the Haven Police Department. She is corrupted but stable, with the ability to force anyone she touches to tell the truth.
- Jacob Flynn - A demon hunter in his early twenties. He is aggressive and holds a bitter resentment towards corrupted humans, due to an incident 2 years ago involving one of them and his girlfriend, Elaine Baker. Elaine is now in a coma at Haven General Hospital.
- Elaine Baker - A young women currently in a coma at Haven General Hospital. She is corrupted but stable and holds the ability to enter the dreams of others. Her abilities only manifested after she fell into the coma.
- Darren Erickson - The supposed leader of the H.O.D.A. He is however a mere figurehead nothing more.
Keith Moore - Headmaster of Haven Public High school. He is currently involved in a deal with a demon called Lethe which is feeding off the memories of his students. - Harper Lin - A quite, shy and somewhat fragile, high school student. Her powers have skyrocketed to the point were she can bring a person back from the brink of death. However, her powers now have a dangerous flip side, she can cause the internal organs of anyone within a 3 meter radius to fail instantly. She is currently locked away by the H.O.D.A.

Cato quietly followed Will, feeling a mixture of fear, guilt and excitement. He was hunting a demon, he could die. Kat was in danger, she could die and it would be his fault. But even so, it was an adventure and he was getting deeper into the cursed part of Haven, the dark, corrupted world that kept calling to him. Cato smiled, live or die he couldn't deny this rush.
The search wasn't going well, it seemed Will was counting on Kat to lead them to the demon. At this stage she was already in a great deal of danger. They had to find it now. Kat was running behind when she returned to the guard station and opened the door she found two people that she knew " Will.. Cato... what are you doing here ?" She asked " Is their anything that I can help you with, Is something wrong?" she added. kat set her stuff in her locker and sat at her new desk setting it up before she did her first round the campus. Kat was a bit worried that the demon might still be around, but she was not just going to leave her post on the first day.
The setting changes from Haven City to The Plaza
Arron had moved on since he stopped to look at some electrical appliances, he had worked his way through various stores. At each store he would try to buy at least one item he needed, ticking it off his list and adding it to the bag which he had to drag around. Eventually all the excerize from dragging around this shopping and the fairly humid tempature got to him. Arron was forced stopped for a five minute break, to recuperate and get himself a drink. It wasn't so much the heat that got to him but rather dehydration. So once Arron had downed a can of juice he was almost straight back on his feet.
The next thing on Arrons list after his break was buying some extra cigarettes for his trip. The store which Arron bought these cigarettes at was having a sale on cleaning supplies so he also bought a two wash cloths and various cleaning supplies. They had been on sale and he'd needed things for washing at home. He would probably keep one of the cloths on his person take it to his camp. He wiped his forehead with said cloth and stuffed it back into a bag as he made his way across the plaza towards a supermarket that knew sold large bottle of water. He was set food-wise for the journey, he had made sure of that when he found a shop that was having a sale on such items. Cato breathed a sigh of relief when Kat strolled into the guard station and quickly shoved the gun down the back of his pants. "Kat we were looking for you!" he almost shouted, "the demon's still out there and..." he stopped himself, the demon was a shapeshifter. He eyed Kat cautiously, he could still feel the demon close by. Will could always just use his power, if it was really Kat she probably wouldn't be hurt. Then again, Cato wasn't fully sure how the "righteous flame" worked, did it destroy evil or just what Will considered evil?
Kat was sitting down at a desk completely looking completely oblivious. Was it really her? He had to try something before Will did. "Err, Kat" he began, "I've been thinking about the whole siren thing, and I'm not really sure what you were talking about could you just show us instead?"

"That wont be necessary she called you by name. Ive been avoiding saying your name for this reason. Remember its a shifter and as much as it looks like you it cant read your mind."
"Miss Kat would you please stay here I cant guarantee your safety."
Will signals to Cato and walks back outside. "ok are you ready for some real excitement?" Will draws his sword and cuts his hand. "This shit always hurts but these demons just cant get enough of it."

Jane sighed, sneaking along into the university. She knew that she could come in when ever she want, she just didn't want to be seen going out. She had a pretty solid reputation of being back at her dorm at a curfew, however, this time she stayed too late. Eyes darted from side to side, something seemed... off. Crap, was she gonna be like one of those girls who died on the intro of some sort of paranormal show? She didn't want to stay to find out.
Maybe she could ask for some light or at least some sort of escort. She paced down the path. She could feel eyes. She walked faster. Adrenaline was getting to her. No, it was fear. The last time she encountered this fear was when those men began calling her freaks. She could feel the glowing of green, the light bounced off her face, fading in and out. Calm down, you're at the university... but the rumors. The cawing of a crow. A crow. She dashed.

Kat stood up " I can not set here and do nothing while the students that I am sopposed to protect are out here risking there lifes for my sake. I just can not allow this at all " she said chasing atfer the to men that seemed to be worried about her safety. " I an coming with you weather you like it or not.. got it you to " she said with a smile.
"Guess there is nothing we can do to stop you." He turned to greet her, but there was one problem.
"See Cato this is why people get hurt." Will says facing the two Kats in front of him."Now this can end one of two ways you either shoot both or you shoot one and hope you got it right."
"Unfortunately if he doesn't chose soon ill have to cut you both down. I cant really let that monster go and hurt more people."

For years since control of the city fell from demon hands they were forced to live in hiding within the cities underbelly, the dark, dank sewers. Only a few were able to rise from the rubble that was their weakened bodies and broken prides, the greatest of those few was Larken who lead his brethren back to the surface world to take back what was theirs, of course they were all far too weakened to do so by force so they needed time to continue to heal their wounds and grow their power. Larken provided them the means to do so by seizing control gang controlled territory bit by bit until there were few who could rival them, the law regarded them as just another gang too powerful to be taken down so they were able to do what had to be done, feasting on humans and making it appear as casualties of gang violence while flying under the radar of hunters.
That time is over and the time to let the humans know to prepare for war, but he could not do so with a sudden attack, a better way would be to feed on a human and leave their defiled corpse where the right people would find it, he could think of no better place to do this than their precious University. An attack on a students would begin the stirrings of fear and panic. A certain brown haired, green eyed teen had chosen a most unfortunate night to be out pass curfew.
Larken had spotted her upon his intrusion though she failed to notice him on account of her attempts at sneaking back into the campus no doubt, fortunate for him but very, very unfortunate for her. It was easy to guess which building she was her goal allowing him to choose an alternative route that would get him there much sooner, and there he would wait wait wait there in the darkness near the entrance where in her hurry she would not see before it was too late. Sure enough she rounded the corner and swiftly she scurried to what she thought would be her protection from unseen pursuer but just before she could reach the double doors a tall, rough looking thug with gnarly scars down the left side of his face came from the darkness to stand between her and safety, she tried to slow up and take off in the other direction but it was much too late, his right hand found a firm grip around her slender neck and hoisted her into the air.
" Look at what we've got here, a sheep that has wondered too far from it's guardian Shepard in night, wondered right into the jaws of a hungry wolf "
he said with a nasty, crooked smile as she squirmed in his grasp trying desperately and in vein to break free, his strength was far beyond hers. With the flick of his wrist the girl was tossed against the wall behind them nearly knocking her unconscious therefore allowing him ample time to flip her over and press her face and chest against the cold, hard wall. He could feel her trembling beneath his touch, he was well aware of the fact some mortals were cursed with abilities akin to demonic power so he knew he had to kill her before shock and fear gave way to reason and she used what power she had against him. The grotesque sounds of his jaws unhinging and stretching could be compared to the sound of wood splinting under pressure as he prepared to decapitate her with the aid of the now many visible rows of inhumanly sharp fangs, so that he may quickly drink the corpse dry directly from major arteries.

Cato's mind was racing, which one was the real Kat? Will said the body would be imperfect without killing the original, but he didn't know Kat well enough to notice any differences. He forced himself to calm down, there had to be some way to finish this without risking her life. Will was ready to kill the both of them, they needed more time.

This man. He wasn't human. The energy coursing in him, it was different and she could feel it through contact. She attempted to breath with every small bit of oxygen she could get, all the while trying to break out of his grasp. Her strength was no match to hers, even he knew it. Before she could even focus her powers, her body met the wall and she fell to the floor. Blood raced down the side of her face as vision faded in and out for her. Steps grew closer, hands pushing her up against the wall. Cold met the warmth of her face, her eyes telling her it was time to sleep and her body refusing to stop her shudders. With the nauseous sounds of cracking and unhinging, Jane was desperate to try to get out of this man's grasp.
She focused some of the last of her energy into her right hand, immediately shooting at the monster of a man. She wasn't sure he was injured at all by the blast of energy, yet she knew that the blow at least fazed him for a couple seconds. She could not catch a glimpse of his face, yet she could tell he'd be furious by her struggles. She spotted a way out and she booked it, feeling herself run unnaturally, probably from fatigue. She didn't dare to look back. Now she had to find some sort of figure. One that could help her, one that could keep her away from the monster. With her voice still dry from the choking, she attempted to scream for help. She had to hope someone had heard it, please. She couldn't die here.

Kat stood the in fear not sure what to do " Ceto.. " every fiber of her being screamed in fear " what are you doing " The shadow filled her with sadness, and a sence of being out of place. Kat did not know what to do or what to say. kat looked at the imposster, this fake copy of her and frowned " We meat in the plaza Cafe and I met will there two.... you told me of this job "
Cato let out a quick laugh of relief and released Kat while at the same time doubling his efforts to restrain the demon. "Sorry Kat" he managed weakly "I was running out of time and.." he glared at Will "I didn't have many options..." He returned his attention to the shapeshifter, he honestly didn't want to kill it, its abilities were fascinating and its knowledge of demons would probably be even more so. Still, it had killed so many people and Kat would have been its next target. Cato pulled out his gun, "let's finish this."
"Please" cried the impostor, "you don't understand! I had no choice, every form I took I only took to protect myself, to hide!" Cato faltered, was this even a demon? He knew the facts but he just couldn't shoot a helpless girl in cold blood, and on top of that she looked just like Kat. For a moment Cato's concentration wavered. The shapeshifter smiled, a horrible and grotesque smile the literally reached from ear to ear and lunged at Cato breaking free from his shadow.

The monster opened its now hideous maw, to reveal serrated teeth and an a lizard like tongue. It was unbelievably strong and easily held held him down, as it went for the kill.

Kat jumped twords the gum quickly grabing it and pointing at the demon " Listen close you ugly, gross, slime of a demon ..... Put him down NOW!!!!!" kat let out one shot, missing the demon by a hair and hitting the tree in the back ground " the next one will not miss the next time..... take me instead" the demon let go of Ceto and rapped around her. The demon covered her completely. This was what she was waiting for she let out a wistle the mad the demons body twist and bend, the demons body filled with pain from the sound waves. Kat only stoped to breathe and continued make sure the focus the sound wave on the demon and no one else.

Jane was just feet away before reaching the four, freezing in her spot when the demon revealed it's hideous mouth. She lost her voice, simply staggering forward, maybe to help, hoping to do something. She flinched when the monster jumped off the boy and onto the girl. She closed her eyes. The sound of flesh ripping and blood dripping would accompany soon, and hearing was better rather than seeing. She heard nothing of that, her eyes fluttering open as she scanned the area.
The demon seemed to be the only one in pain, it beauteously strange to her. Her left hand (her right hand was stained with her blood) reached for the hunter, grasping the fabric of his shirt as her knees felt like they'd turn to goo. The demon's headless body struggled on the ground and then stopped moving entirely. "Kat are you okay?!" he called running over to her. She seemed shaken but otherwise unharmed,"you did it" he smiled and hugged her "we're safe!"
Well, at least he thought they were until he heard a noise from Will's direction. He turned to see an injured girl collapse against Will, had the shapeshifter done that? Cato froze, he could sense another demon, the overwhelming sense of fear could be nothing else.

She flinched at the hands touching her face, smearing the blood off of her pale face. Her eyes fluttered open once more, looking around as the area seemed to spiral. She could see the three, their figures silhouetted by the darkness. She could see her blood on the hunter, his dialogue now being audible to her. "I'm going to fight who ever hurt her."
She attempted to sit up from the ground to protest his plan, only to no avail as she cringed. Her head pounded as she remained awake. Wanting to speak to them, tell them her experiences, but her voice was once again lost. She eventually shut her eyes, knowing she could be question at the hospital. She let the wave of rest overcome her, passing out onto the spot.

After a minute or two passed a light went off in will's head. If the demon didn't go after him then it was after them. He begins to run towards the hospital. "So much for a simple hunt, I just hope im not to late."

Cato sat in the back of an ambulance with Kat and the injured girl. He stared down at the young woman on the stretcher, she'd lost a lot of blood. The ambulance came to a sudden halt and the doors swung open, two pairs of arms reached out and pulled the stretcher away. He tried to follow as they wheeled the girl away, but was soon pushed into an empty room along with Kat.
He stood awkwardly in silence, what did she think of him, using his power against her? He doubted she'd forgive him for it. The silence continued until an old women in a white coat glided into the room. "Hello, my name is Dr. Gloria Ross" she announced smoothly, "the girl you came in with will recover, but she is currently in no situation for you to see her right now. I understand that the two of you have been through a lot, but there are tests that must be run, you did sustain injuries from a demon after all. The paramedics that arrived may have preformed first aid, but demons carry all sorts of disease... and curses. Better safe than sorry, don't you agree?"

The voice was a scratch, unpleasant voice that in a word, complemented wholisticly with the rough, battle worn figure of it's owner. Larken could now see his own folly, he had the scent of her blood etched into his naval cavities and he knew that with the head injuries she was certain to have sustained she couldn't get far, he did not think for a second she would run into someone clever enough to fool him as he'd been fooled for the girl was nowhere in sight and the smell of her blood now emanated from the young hunter that now turned to face him.

Arron stumbled through the open doorway and into a room which now seated two civilians, one boy and one girl. There was a awkwards silence as Arron froze, only his eyes moved to look from the newcomers to the box in his hand. It was just a boring old cardboard box he had filled with bandages and various other basic medical supplies. Arron took a step towards them and set the box down on an empty table, above a large rucksack tucked underneath which belonged to him and contained camping supplies. Earlier he had seen a stretcher being rushed into one of the other rooms nearby and Dr. Gloria exiting from said room. He had also seen the doctor exiting this room so he assumed there might be some relation between the patient through there and these two civilians. As a nurse it was his job to help out with these things as best he can, even when of duty. He looked towards the concerned duo then straightened his posture and took a deep breath before speaking. "Excuse me, Is there something I can help you with?".

Cato sat down, practically ignoring the nurse, he didn't have time for all these test. Will was probably still fighting that demon, he couldn't just leave him out there. Still, he couldn't use his powers to escape, the H.O.D.A. would be on him in an instant with all the cameras . He frowned, he'd have to just hope Will could hold his own for now, its not like he was a stranger to fighting demons. Even so, he still had a bad feeling, why couldn't the doctors just let them go?
