Long ago, there was a family of six, who lived in a medieval time. Thier country was a vast, snowy place where the people were renowned for thier spirit and tenacity.
Four of them were all siblings whose parents were mages. Luckily for them, as it is illegal for magickery in thier country of Krystallheim, it wasn't widely known that thier parents were perhaps the most powerful in the entire country. However, thier parents had been gone for a very long time.
You see, there had been a war to be fought. Thier parents were one of the first to be called, along with many others...
In the years to come, the Ten Year's War would be known as a terrible, bloody war, where none survived but the most cruel and vicious of creatures. Sacrifices would be made, and many lives would be lost.
In this time, after thier parents had left, each of the four siblings made an invaluable friend. This friend became an inescapable part of thier childhood, someone they might of even loved, even at such a young age. However, for whatever reason, they grew apart. Eventually, the friends left, leaving the siblings to themselves for the rest of the duration of the war.
Now, to current times. The war was finally over, and now those who survived the war were finally returning home. However, only one person arrived at the siblings doorstep late one night. Covered in tatters instead of the regal clothing she once wore, her skin scarred and malformed, she looked nothing like the siblings remembered. She knocked weakly, only to be answered rudely.
Of course, when she had told her children that it was truly her, they had not believed her, not even when she displayed her magic for them. They had grown up to be truly arrogant and selfish, even cruel.
Thier mother, sorrowful from the deepest reachest of her heart, decided to teach them a lesson. So, she cursed each of them, making them look just as ugly and horrible on the outside as they were on the inside, turning them into beasts. Then, she gave them a rose.
"If you can find true love, within a year, before the last petal of this rose falls," She told them, "then your curse will be lifted. My children, I hope that one day you can find the room in your hearts to forgive me, but this is a lesson that you must learn."
They've all heard the story of Beauty and the Beast. A rich, noble, spoiled brat gets cursed, and to undo it they fall in love with some random perfect person. The perfect person loves them back, and its happy ever after. How ironic is it, that they should fall into the same kind of story?
However, unlike the story, no one is perfect. Everyone has thier secrets, things they want hidden away from the rest of the world. So enter our 'beauties,' those destined to fall in love with our beasts.
They had once been friends with the siblings, maybe even fallen in love with them. But for whatever reason, whether it had been them or the siblings, they had grown apart. And so, they had gone thier seperate ways. Ten years later, they return to the very place they had left.
The Siblings (surname: Faye)
The eldest- ~Taken by Ziddie~
When thier parents had left, he was 11 years old. He took up the responsibility of raising the others, but eventually he had a breakdown. To help try to get money to keep everyone from starving, he took to stealing, gambling, and prostitution, anything for money. He became an expert swindler, but eventually stopped caring about anything but himself.

The second eldest-
He was 10 when thier parents went to war. He tried his best to keep thier family together, but they all grew apart. He became withdrawn, antisocial, even violent and cruel. The most dangerous of the siblings, he became a mercenary for hire.

She was 9 (or 10, if anyone wants to make the middle siblings twins) when thier parents left. Smart for her age, she knew all too well what her parents were going off to. She became angry at them for leaving her and her siblings, and became even angrier at her siblings for the people they became. Perhaps the most understanding of the siblings, she became cold, calculating, and cynical.

As she was only 8 when her parents went off to war, she didn't really understand why her parents had gone. Even so, before they had left they had doted on her, and she expected the very same from her siblings. Even though her siblings didn't really giver her the time of day, she still became narcissistic, mean, and completely self-centered.

Grew up with her father, her mother having died in the war. Her father wasn't called to war because he had a bad leg.
She moved away with her father when she was young to a distant country. Recently, her father passed away. In his will, he specifically asked his ashes to be spread in the country that he and his family once called home.....and so, she returns.

How they met
She caught him trying to steal, and beat him up. After this, they somehow became friends (and maybe more).

Although her father was kind and loving, whenever he drank he became violent. Ever since his wife went off to war, he began to drink more and more....
One night, she was forced to protect herself, resulting in the death of her father.
Boy 1- ~Taken by me~
Grew up with his sickly mother. Neither he nor his mother knows who his father is. When his mother died, he decided to become a soldier. Ten years later, he returns from the war, but not without his own scars....

How they met
He (the second eldest) was playing in the garden when he saw someone hiding in the bushes. To his surprise, it was a boy that he had never seen before! They soon became friends (or maybe more).

Somehow, he has become addicted to pain. He doesn't want to admit it, as he has had many brushes with death.
Girl 2-
She grew up alone, always fending for herself. When she saw that her friend was becoming cruel and calculating, she tried to run away from the town they lived in. She was caught by slave traders, and fetched a high price due to her beauty and singing voice.
Ten years later, she is free at last. She returns to the place that she had tried to run away from so long ago.....

She found her unconscious in an alleyway, and took her to her home.

Her master had been cruel to her, having done inexplicable things. She had to get away, or she would have died. So, being the most trusted servant of the house, she did what she had to to survive......

Grew up with a loving family, whose parents were politically protected in such a way that they did not have to go to war.

Despising the stuffiness of living a princely life, he often snuck out at night to go explore the town. That night, he bumped into a girl who was on her way home. They decided to play together, and quickly became friends.
