Miiko has a few scars, all of which she covets like their own story. Her ears are not pierced and on her hand looks almost like what should be a light bearing mark, but isn't filled in.

Miiko was born to a family of four, with brown hair and brown eyes. No, she does not wear contacts, nor does she dye her hair, it is simply one of the anomaly's of the world. It started when she turned five, Miiko had nearly drowned in the water surrounding her city. When her big sister saved her, the mark appeared on her hand. At first they panicked, unknowing as to what this mark meant and feared that she would be taken away. It was the Rebellion Doctor that recognized it for what it was, referring to the symbol as a Light Bearing Mark. However, something was amiss. Rather than having the characteristic white ink that should have filled the marking in, Miiko's was left blank. The transformation took place quickly, first at the roots, then in her eyes. Her hair fell out, she had gone blind. For months Miiko took shelter in her room, too embarrassed to emerge. Slowly it regrew, fluffy and pink, her eyes an almost muted turquoise. At long last her vision was restored and Miiko crept out of isolation, her skin pearly, close to that of a doll. Her fingers are long and slender, her face easily recognizable by the characteristic pink heart.

Cover your crystal eyes
And let your colors bleed and blend with mine
Making waves in pitch black sand
Feel the salt dance on my hands

When Miiko was born, the world was very different then it used to be. Light Bearers were nothing but a memory, supposedly extinct from this world after having fought war time and again. Her parents hadn't meant to conceive a second child, Miiko was something of an accident but was never treated as such. In fact, being the youngest, she was spoiled rotten by both of her parents. Due to the fact that she was the smallest, her family, and the rebellion, which had become an extension of sorts of her family, all treated her as their favorite little kitten. Stella, who was always jealous of the attention Miiko got, sometimes bullied her little sister, but Miiko idolized Stella despite it. Together, the two of them often went on misadventures outside of their home, venturing into the boats that took them through the city despite being told not to go near the water.

They learned all too soon the dangers of the sea surrounding their quaint little city. Stella and Miiko decided to take a trip to the beach, something the sister's would often do when they sneaked out of their home. Leaping from rock to rock, Stella joked about pushing Miiko into the oncoming waves. As it turned out, she didn't have to. Miiko slipped and hit her head, falling into the sea. Stella, who didn't know how to swim, ran to find an adult that could help them. Miiko was saved and whisked inside to the Rebellion Doctor, who diagnosed her with a concussion and something quite odd. There were traces of light inside of Miiko's body, not enough to do much more than form a marking on her hand. After that came the unsightly baldness and blindness. Stella was guilty, believing this to be her fault. Her jealousy for her sister quickly faded after seeing the situation that had befallen her little sister. During Miiko's isolation, the two sisters became closer than ever and when Miiko regained her sight and hair, both sisters were surprised to learn that Stella was a light bearer.

The rebellion celebrated, Stella was only fifteen years old and yet they wanted her to fight for them, to bring the end of the new reign down before anything drastic could happen. Stella went to the front lines, she fought and fought and returned home exhausted. She refused to speak of what she had seen and done and locked herself up in her room the same way Miiko had so many months before. Miiko wanted to go too, she wanted to see what her sister had, she wanted to know why Stella no longer wanted to play with her. Together the family traveled to the front lines, where Miiko helped put band aids on wounds and give water to soldiers in need of a break. It was on that battlefield that she watched as Stella was struck down. Her big sister, the unbeatable light bearer, was taken into the custody of the government, never to be seen again.

Miiko is a bit, well, clingy. It has been a long time since she has had a friend.

Decaying into the void❞

Rose was absolutely freezing. There was nothing good here at all, how could anyone live here and be happy at all? It was more than a little silly. "Everyone, let's not forget our wigs, okay?" Daisy said with a wink. They all were going to need disguises because the unfortunate truth was that many of them had recognizable faces that were associated with the Rebellion by now. "We don't want to be found out instantly or anything." Rose clutched close to Miiko, trying to share in the body heat. "Wh-wh-why is it so c-c-cold?!" She snapped, having just been summoned not a few minutes ago. "God, put something on, will you? Miiko, summon her earlier next time so she has a chance to put clothes on." It was a fact that Spirits were always summoned naked, after all.

"It's time to test out this technology." Gavin reminded, they couldn't disembark just yet, they needed to send word. A complicated terminal of sorts was set up on the starboard of the ship and Gavin was playing around with the settings, trying to figure out, to the amusement of the three present that had come from the past and already knew how to use it. "Here, let me." Callum reached over and pressed the buttons to start the recording. "Jace, we're all here at Aurum, and we haven't been spotted." Prisca did her best to suppress a glower, she was all dressed now, thankfully, but still shivering from just how cold it was, and looking at the thick blanket of snow covering everything was not helping in the least. This far north they weren't going to get a successful signal for a live feed, but they could send it back for Jace to see. "Okay, with this button the video will send and it'll arrive at Nino's terminal in about ten minutes."

Technology really had become rudimentary over the years. This was the rebuilding of society, after all, of course things weren't going to be as high tech as they were in Prisca's time. "The clouds are already swirling above us, we should make this quick." There was something written into the ice, carved in a strange language. To Prisca it looked like symbols but Daisy grinned as she saw it, whooping with excitement. "It's ancient kanji! It has to be the Vorkov twins, they probably preserved the language specifically for a situation like this." After a few minutes Daisy nodded and then translated what was written, all the while pressing Jellyfish's face to her belly to keep her shivering Caster warm.

"Welcome to Aurum, and thank you for coming to help. Me and my brother are inside the facility at the top of the mountain - we have a few rebels stationed in the residential area at the base of the mountain if you ever need a place to hide. Please come quickly, before our light bearing marks are discovered." With it was a set of instructions on how to blend in as locals as well as apply for shelter at the VorTech Headquarters, Aurum's monument, because every island had one. Rose made a depressed sound as she knew that this was going to become a big strenuous hike. "Apparently there was a blizzard here a few days ago that destroyed a section of the houses, so General Cordy has been taking in citizens who are now homeless in exchange for volunteer work in helping maintain the inside farm or whatever." Rose tapped Miiko on the shoulder then. "Will you be okay, Miiko? It's a long walk up the mountain."

Wigs? Miiko had nearly forgotten about those. Miiko was putting on her clothes for the morning when at long last Rose decided to show up, stark naked in the freeing cold. "Why don't you put some clothes on?" Miiko suggested helpfully, pointing to the bag in the corner that contained Stella's belongings which Rose was only borrowing until Stella returned. Hmm, when Stella did come back, Miiko was going to need to get Rose her own clothing because surely Stella wasn't going to want to share? "How does this wig look?" Miiko asked while Rose put some clothes on to cover her nude body. The wig was long and brown, giving Miiko the appearance she had before she had lost all of her hair and it had regrown pink. Miiko paused in the mirror, uncertain about her reflection.

"Here Rose, you can wear this one!" Miiko took the long brown wig off and shoved it into her counterpart's hands. "I want this one!" This was a short red haired one, giving Miiko an uncanny resemblance to Stella. Miiko took the wig off in panic and whirled around, "Jellyfish! Trade with me!" This new wig was a blonde bob, which Miiko thought suited her just fine. "Thanks Jelly," like this Miiko felt prepared to go, a bit cold due to the lack of hair around her neck, but otherwise ready for the mission. She wrapped her scarf around her and hoisted up her bag, following Jellyfish, Daisy, and Rose up to the transmission room where they were attempting to contact Miiko's Father.

"I don't know how quick a rescue mission usually is, but Daddy gave us four days." Miiko held up four fingers. "Let's get it started, we've already wasted the morning," Rose inquired if Miiko was going to be alright on the trek up the mountain. Miiko gave a big thumbs up, "I'll be just fine! Climbing is one of the few things I'm good at!" Miiko approached the base of the mountain along with the group, her hands on her hips. "Well, let's see, this mountain is kind of huge and the base is at the top? I have a feeling that the Republic doesn't want outsiders to intrude and distract its workers." Rumor had it that the children with the Black Plague were in isolation somewhere around here, not that they were equipped to rescue them yet. They would have to come back at a later date to reunite those poor families whose sons and daughters had been ripped away.

"Here," Miiko handed Rose what looked like a belt of nails. "Tie them around your boots, it'll help with traction," Miiko had made these herself, she had found that on snowy days in Yavin that allowed her to cling to the slippery surfaces of icy rocks better. Miiko belted two of them around her warm boots and started up the path, walking in between Rose and Gavin. Callum was up front and Daisy was bringing up the rear. Miiko sort of wondered if Daisy ever felt as though Jellyfish were more a burden than a help. "Hey Daisy!" Miiko called back to her, "How come you and Jellyfish get along so well!" The two were the complete opposite.

Everyone was ready, even Rose, who was decorated by a long brown wig given to her by Miiko, a stark contrast to her usual short hair. Already her stitches were healed, Spirits really did have accelerated healing when put back inside of their Summoner. They had a long hike ahead of them and Rose was going to have to rise to the occasion. "Well, I'll be taking your lead then." Ah, it felt so nice to be bundled up in a big furry winter coat, but no one looked as warm as the faintly blushing Jellyfish, the picture of comfort despite the cold winds ripping at the six of them as they left the boat. "This is supposed to be the Republic's front line of research." Gavin explained to everyone's benefit who didn't already know. "So naturally the facility itself would be carefully hidden from just anyone's eye."

Or, at least, that was the original intention. "Because of the blizzard, General Cordy set aside the confidentiality rule in order to give temporary housing to those who need it." Daisy explained, winking as they did so. Rose dutifully put the spikes onto her boots, hoping this would make it so that she wouldn't slip and fall. "So that's how we'll have our excuse to enter the facility and meet up with the Vorkovs." Callum summarized because Jellyfish was staring blankly at nothing in front of her, being helped by Daisy while the two boys took the front. Rose and Miiko were placed comfortably in the middle of the formation. Prisca was of the opinion that they should be preserving their energy but Miiko was more than happy to talk and converse. It was probably going to be boring for the energetic little girl without some talking, so Daisy figured she might as well oblige.

"Come on, look at her, isn't Jelly so cute?" Daisy grinned as she poked her Caster's cheeks. Jellyfish opened her mouth, rubbing her cheeks, and then looked up at her Spirit dully before lowering her head again to keep on trudging. "Of course I'll get along with her!" And for someone as carefree as Jellyfish, she probably wouldn't care no matter who she ended up with, would she? "As long as Jellyfish gets to be lazy I doubt she'll be picky about her Spirit." Rose said with a half grin and Daisy nodded energetically. "Yes, that's exactly it!" Callum hmpfed from the front, he clearly didn't like listening to Prisca making friends.

Well, maybe Prisca felt a worm of guilt sliding into her, as well.

Eventually half way up the mountain the six of them found a metal plate, a makeshift shelter to protect them from the wind, with messages of encouragement to hikers trying to scale the mountain of Aurum. But for the three Spirits, this was much more than just a pitstop. Carved into the metal were names, it was as if this slab of metal was a sort of gravestone, a mass obelisk to commemorate those who died. Nemesis, Raven, Xavier, so many names. "Allyana Vorkova and Leo Vorkov have joined their friends in heaven." Callum read in an introspective voice. "Let's just keep going, we're half way there already." Rose didn't feel like looking at the epitaph anymore.

Despite the bleak weather, Miiko's spirits were as bright as ever. "Hey Rose, am I cute too?" The now-blonde wanted to know. "Maybe we should come up with fake names for everyone? Wigs are great and all, but if our names are on some sort of list we're not gonna be able to get through. We should also have a story as to what we're doing here, right?" It would look suspicious if six voyagers appeared out of nowhere with the request to use their shelter. "Well look at that, the kid has an idea?" Callum spoke sarcastically, but Miiko ignored him. "Our stories are gonna have to match! Otherwise they'll get suspicious!" Miiko protested, crossing her arms and glaring at the back of Callum's head. "I think it's a great idea," Gavin said helpfully, throwing a glance over his shoulder to see how Rose and Miiko were faring in this icy weather.

Miiko beamed, her idea was pretty great, wasn't it? "I think we should be a group of adopted siblings that fish for a living so that we can afford to travel. Our boat got caught in the crosswinds and we were pushed this way, which stranded us on this island until the storm passes and the winds die down." Miiko beamed, was she brilliant or what? Miiko glanced over her shoulder, hoping for an approving nod from Rose or a pat on the head, some sort of praise for her hard work. "You really thought that out didn't you? Surprising you can do that much thinking with how often you run your mouth," Callum grunted, causing Miiko to blush angrily. "Yeah, well you're just a big fat stupid head!" The six of them stopped on the metal platform, Gavin passing around something to keep them warm. "It's alcohol," he explained, "Spirits can't get drunk, Callum's tried, but it should still warm you right up."

"Rose," Miiko tugged at her spirit's sleeve. "What does all of this say?" That's right, Miiko couldn't read the old language. She could read a bit of the new language though, but it didn't explain the wall of names. "I wonder who Allayana and and Leo Vorkov were..." Miiko trailed off in realization, "Aren't Sanaa and Kennan Vorkov's?" She looked up at Gavin who nodded, "My guess is that it's their parents." If their names were on here with a bunch of other's, did that mean they were dead? "We should keep going, we can come up with our fake names on the way." Miiko nodded, skipping along after them. She stayed close to Rose, the taller girl keeping the wind from bowling Miiko over. "Hey Rose, you can read the old language, can't you?"

Miiko didn't understand that in the old world, there were many languages, not just one established one. She took something out of her pocket regardless, a small notebook that had notes in German. "I found this, but I have no idea what it's for." The notes were instructions on how to build a rail gun.

|| Jar of Hearts || Christina Perri ||

"Yes, I think you're very cute." Rose said, patting her Caster on the head, bringing her close in order to have some extra bodily warmth. The boys up ahead didn't seem to need to huddle like the girls did, maybe it was because they were manly and tough or whatever. "Yeah, that's a good idea." Gavin said back to them at Miiko's suggestion. And so the next ten minutes all revolved around deciding fake names for everyone. Rose decided on Esme, the name of her dead sister, Callum seemed to like being called Connor, and Daisy went with Aria. Considering both Daisy and Rose chose a name based on the past, it could be guessed that perhaps Callum too, had someone from the past who went by the name of Connor, but Prisca couldn't really remember. "I'll call Jelly Uni!" Daisy - or Aria - poked Jelly's cheeks happily, and Gavin settled on Jhin.

So they all agreed with Miiko's story and Rose made sure to give her Caster plenty of copious praise for coming up with it so suddenly, so sensibly as well. You'd think a girl like Miiko would be much more fanciful about these sorts of affairs, but no, her cover story was very reasonable. Alcohol was passed to the Spirits, because Rose was suffering quite a bit from the cold, even with clinging to Miiko. "It's like a memorial to loved ones of the past." Rose said, wondering if the Casters could sense the Spirit's unease with this. This right here was proof that they were in the future, because they all knew the names here, Yui being the most memorable. "It says here that Allyana and Leo were the founders of Aurum." Callum explained morosely, and for once he shared a glance with Prisca that wasn't hostile at all, just a mutual sense of disconnect, of timelessness, of nostalgia.

"U-um, it looks like sc-schematics for a weapon of sorts." Rose said upon reading the paper and Gavin was quick to pocket it for himself. "Then Nino will be glad to get her hands on this. You guys won't mind interpreting, will you?" Callum grinned, he was more than ready for the task of helping Nino with the weapon. It was almost like he had a hard on for guns, seeing as that was his main weapon back when they were alive. Eventually their break was cut short by Gavin standing up. "Alright, we should keep going. It's nice to relax a little, but we don't have time to lose." And so they continued their treacherous trek up the mountain, aiming for the science facility at the very top.

After a while it became too hard to talk, Jellyfish had passed out - or so it seemed, because Daisy was still very much present and carrying the mute girl in her arms as if she was a stuffed animal. Gavin and Callum were still going strong but they too had stopped talking. Rose was exhausted, every joint in her body was screaming. But finally they crested the final hill and then below them, built into the crevice, atop a natural lake, was a gigantic urban complex full of buildings and structures, with an apex in the middle. It was breathtaking, a gigantic sprawl of metal just floating above the water, almost waiting to invite them in.

❝Believe in yourself a little more.❞

ɗιαƖσgυє cσƖσя:#E0427F ♙ тнσυgнт cσƖσя #42647F

|| Stand By Me|| Florence and the Machine ||

Miiko thought long and hard before deciding on a name for herself. "Hope," she decided in the the end. "I think I want my name to be Hope," according to her parents, Miiko meant 'beautiful child,' in one of the dead languages and while that was nice and all, Miiko liked the sound of Hope. She wanted to be the thing that kept them all believing until the end and that was: Hope. With that decided they continued to trudge onward to the memorial and then up the mountain, Miiko and Rose staying close together in order to share body heat. Miiko greatly missed the warmth of Ondern and she attempted to channel this heat even now by remaining active. Her nose had turned red, her breaths fogged the air with every breath. Miiko was breathing hard, she had not expected the journey to have been so arduous. If it was like this on the way up, then how the heck were they going to make a quick escape with the Sanaa and Kennan?

"Who is Yui?" Miiko asked, tracing her hand over the name. It was written in the language that she could read, one of the handful of names there that Miiko was able to understand. Her question was lot by the wind, her voice swallowed up when it whipped through the metal platform, nearly sending them over the edge. Miiko straightened, tears frozen to her cheeks. She wiped her eyes to clear up the rest of them, turning to fall in line when the break was over and their very cold sandwiches had been completely consumed, giving Miiko the energy she needed to keep going. Their water supply had frozen and licking at the block of ice did nothing to quench the terrible thirst on her dry tongue. "Need water," Miiko murmured, breath fogging the air. "Does anyone... does anyone have water?" She winced and with a frown Gavin handed over the bottle of alcohol. "Only a few sips, your Dad will kill me if he found out." With a nod Miiko took two swigs, sighing in relief.

Gavin had taken and hidden the notebook that Miiko had found with the schematics for the weapon. It seemed as though Rose wasn't able to translate it, but that was fine because they were now so focused on breathing and remaining upright in the frigid cold that Miiko wouldn't be able to ask about it anyways. Miiko was near the point of collapsing, her vision began to grow fuzzy with every step until at long last they reached the top. Miiko fell to her knees, coughing and panting. The crevice was impressive, a gleaming city on top of the mountain that they had worked so hard to scale. "We-we're here," Miiko smiled a moment too soon. "Freeze! Hands in the air!" Almost instinct Miiko put her arms up above her head, rising slowly to face the Republic military men that had sneaked up on them. They were dressed in white the same shade as the harsh snow. "State your business," Gavin stepped forward slowly, hands still in the air.

"We-we're siblings, travelers. We um-" he swallowed, throat clearly parched. "Our boat was blown off course by the on coming storm and we're stranded. Please sir, we're so thirsty, we just want somewhere warm to sleep and some none frozen water to drink." As though to emphasize, Miiko uncapped her canteen and turned it upside down, the frozen block of ice not budging. "W-water?" Miiko croaked, noticing the water that the soldier had. He glanced at his commander, uncertainty clearly etched in his expression. With a subtle nod the commander gave permission for his subordinate for to hand Miiko his canteen. Miiko drank most of it down before holing it out to Rose. "Here Esme, you have some too!"

"Alright, we will permit you all two rooms until the storm passes, but as soon as it does, you will need to make your way down the mountain." Miiko wanted to cry in relief, she was so cold and her fingers had since gone numb.

It took all of Rose's concentration to be able to resist pulling out her rapier when they were all suddenly held at gunpoint. It was very clever on General Cordy's part, to have the soldiers working up here dressed in white. Any enemy, tired and exhausted, they would never be able to notice death coming for them in white uniforms, ready to attack at a moment's notice, especially soldiers that had grown used to the thinner air and the frigid winds surrounding them. The idea of trying to attack the VorTech Research Facility sounded like a nigh impossible task. But, well, taking on such a giant enemy such as the Republic was already suicidal, so what was the harm in adding another level of difficulty to big picture? "Come on, follow us so you don't get lost." It would be very easy to just get stranded in the endless sheet of snow, so Prisca was glad for the guidance.

Eventually they reached what appeared to be a large vault door built into the sides of one of the buildings. It was slowly rotated open and the six weary travelers were more or less ushered into the VRF, and with that they were taken to what almost seemed like a depressurizing hallway. "Just one second." The apparent commander said, who Rose figured was General Cordy himself. "The air will regulate and we'll be allowed in." As they waited for this he was going to make sure of something, so that the visitors wouldn't cause too much trouble while here. "We're being gracious and allowing you all shelter and warmth from the storm, so do us the courtesy of not poking your noses where it doesn't belong." Cordy said in a severe manner, but then his face softened up just a little bit. "That being said, please be welcome in your two rooms, to rest up and prepare for your journey ahead."

It was impossible to guess if Cordy was a good or a bad person. Maybe it was too early to tell, but as far as she could see, he was way too ambiguous to really decide one way or another. But then again, weren't most people just shades of grey rather than good and evil? "Th-thank y-you very much, mister." Rose bowed deeply, holding closely to Miiko. Eventually the second fault opened up and with it was a blanket of heat that almost immediately buffeted them all. Jellyfish's left eye opened lazily and Daisy let out a little whoop of relief. One soldier grinned at that and nudged Cordy in the belly. "It never gets old watching the cold get warm." They really did seem friendly... was it too early to try and judge?

And so the six were separated into two and four - the boys on one side, the girls in the other. Compared to Yavin's greenery and nature, Aurum was almost futuristic in design, clean, metallic, and entirely indoors, an interconnected city build under the steel roof. The four girls got themselves undressed and cozily set up in their room, furnished with two simple beds, a lamp, and a night stand. Right then the door opened, revealing a dark haired girl with wise eyes and a tray full of food. "I'm Sanaa Vorkov, one of the nurses here." She introduced herself with a wink. "Um, General Cordy told me to come and bring you all food." It was shark meat soup, nice and heated up, and Rose was already salivating.

Miiko trudged after after the soldiers, shivering with each step. About halfway there her knees gave and she fell into a fluffy pile of powder. "Just go on without me.... it's so cozy here." She said dramatically, causing the soldier closest to her to frown. "I'll carry her," he offered, lifting Miiko up onto his back. He even gave Miiko his winter hat, covering up her blonde wig. "So toasty," he fell into step with his unit once again, carrying Miiko as though she weighed nothing. "Hey, what are you children doing out here anyways? Where are your parents?" The soldier asked, directing his question at Rose, whom he was closest to. What were a group of children doing out here all alone? To her credit, Miiko didn't stiffen up, but she didn't answer either. She would let the others answer the inquiry while she focused on not passing out.

When they reached the chamber the soldier put Miiko own down on her feet once more. "There, is that better?" He asked, taking the hat. "Yeah, it's so much warmer in here." Miiko slowly walked over to Rose, standing beside her spirit. They were thawing slowly, bodies coming alive with the warmth provided by the building. Miiko had never been inside of a fully heated building before; at home they used things like the small space heater and the fire place to warm their cozy little tree house. "Where does the heat come from? Do you have a giant fire?" Miiko asked the soldiers, who chuckled. "You have to excuse Hope, she's a little special," Gavin said, patting Miiko's head. "No I'm not! You're just weird!" Miiko kicked Gavin's shin and crossed her arms, which made the soldiers laugh until General Cordy cleared his throat. His message was clear, they weren't to go poking around, which meant that Sanaa and Kennan were going to have to come find them and not the other way around.

"Aye, aye General!" Miiko gave a salute and followed them towards the room they would be staying in. None of them had bags, this was supposed to be an impromptu visit after all. "Esme will protect me from the evil big brothers!" Miiko grabbed Rose's hand and placed it on her head, having made the decision that it felt protective, similar to what Stella would do to comfort Miiko when she was feeling down. The bedroom was quaint, the bathroom was down the hall, which would be quite the experience. "There's only two beds in here? I guess Esme and I will have to share," Miiko said, leading Esme over to one of the beds and plopping down. "Ah! It's so nice and warm in here! I'm starting to feel my fingers again!" Miiko derobed from her snow soaked clothing, leaving her right glove on. "I'm gonna need some bandages or something," she whispered to Rose.

After all, Miiko couldn't just reveal her light bearing mark to the base without alerting them. The girls had just finished getting dressed when there was a knock on the door. It opened slowly to reveal a dark haired girl with bright eyes carrying a tray that had steaming bowls of soup. Miiko's mouth watered almost instantly at the sight of warm food. "Sanaa.... that's a cool name." Miiko went forward to receive the tray, but Daisy was faster and likely the better choice since she was less likely to drop and spill hot food all over everyone. "Say Sanaa, I think you should take a look at Hope, she says that her fingers and toes are a little numb."

"No they-yes! Yes, they're very cold! Do you have any bandages?"

Rose knew exactly what to say when the soldier holding Miiko made his inquiry. She regarded him with a calm eye and spoke the lie she practiced in her mind many times already. "O-our parents... are dead." Her lip gave a convincing quiver and she looked away, cheeks reddening to sell the act perfectly. "While we were fishing the Red Fleet came and attacked... they gave themselves up to h-help us escape..." It was a common story, to lose family due to wars and cities constantly fighting amongst one another. There was a reason L was trying to take over, after all, to put an end to all of that. "No, it's not a giant fire." General Cordy laughed as Miiko acted out - Rose made sure to hold her Caster by the shoulders so she wouldn't overact. "We have electric heaters, machines are built in to convert an electric current into heat." For what it was worth, all the travelers were very thrilled about this.

"I'll keep you safe, Hope, you little baby." She glanced at the two boys being lead to their own room. "Keep in touch Connor, Jhin, okay?" For now she had to put her mutual hatred of Callum aside, but only for now. It was time to set up their home base in their room, not that they really had possessions or anything at hand. Only two beds, but that served them just fine, Jellyfish and Miiko were absurdly small and Rose wasn't exactly tall either - Daisy was the only one of them who could be called a tall girl, she was graceful and slender in her height. Jellyfish sat herself down on one bed and curled up with a satisfied smile. "You're tiny, Hope, sh-sharing won't be a problem." Rose said, finding the mattress to be very soft and comfortable.

Yes, bandages were going to have to be important. They all had a light bearing mark, so everyone here was going to need something to hide the marks if they didn't want to end up reported and caught. Daisy gladly accepted the tray from Sanaa who smiled, gauging them all. Did this mean that Kennan was observing the boys right now? "Yes, I'll take a look. I'm sure it was a hard journey, wasn't it?" Sanaa spoke conversationally and Daisy responded to her, the two of them chatting as the nurse examined Miiko's hand. She pulled the shoulder of her uniform down, revealing a hint of a light bearing mark with a smile.

And that was when Daisy drew a kanji symbol and Sanaa drew one as well. The two were quickly caught up in an exchange of kanji as she gave them a roll of bandages to hide their respective light bearing marks, even the Spirits were given bandages for the camouflage. "The soup is delicious." Rose said helpfully, wishing she could have been a part of this rapid strategy meeting between fellow kanji users. "Thanks, Sanaa." A slightly distracted smile was on Sanaa's face and she wrote something on a piece of paper begging for them to help her and Kennan to escape. She then ate the paper, erasing the evidence. "The weather's getting worse... the storm will probably hit tonight. My family and I will probably have to leave in a few days..." Rose said, hinting parts of the plan to Sanaa, who would hopefully understand.

The rest of the day wasn't all that eventful. The couldn't even try to discuss anything because the chance of being overheard. Sanaa was chipper, though, as she examined all of their light bearing marks and mentally identified who the Casters and Spirits were here. No doubt Kennan was doing the same thing over in the boy's room, confirming that these were the rescuers who would take them to Yavin where they could be safe from discovery. The soup was scrumptious and Rose was surprised the Republic was willing to use food and warmth on random travelers. She wasn't going to change her opinion, however, on the fact that the Republic was her enemy. As long as her Caster was against the Republic, Rose would be as well. Their mission was to get Sanaa and Kennan out as quickly as possible, preferably before the storm hit. And there was exactly one way for them to actually be able to make a plan.

They were at the World Tree, at the top of it, overlooking the rest of Yavin's lush forested residency. Everyone was gathered, the six travelers and the twins who made the request in the first place. Gavin was at the center of it, so this was his power at play here. "Now that we're all in the dream, we can discuss where to go from here, how to escape." Gavin smiled at Kennan who was wearing a wide, excited grin and Sanaa nodded and smiled with a slightly reserved expression. "U-um, first, our n-names, our r-real ones." And so they all introduced each other - well, Daisy introduced Jellyfish - and they all made sure to include their powers as well. "What can you do?" Callum asked the twins roughly. "You got the same mark, what does that mean?"

Sanaa and Kennan looked at one another and then pressed the palms of their hands together. "We can become whatever we want." Sanaa said with a sly grin, and Kennan was nearly bouncing on the balls of his feet. "And we turn into one!" With their palms as the focal point, the two's bodies eventually merged together, twisting and morphing until they were a gorilla, and then the gorilla became a large roaring black dragon. Finally they returned to their true forms and separated. "The way I see it, we're going to have to have three phases to the escape." Daisy said with a wink and a smile, holding onto Jellyfish so that the airhead wouldn't try to touch the twins. She held up three fingers then.

"First, is breaking out of this facility." The idol explained calmly, probably the strategist of the group. "Can you give Gavin a mental map that he can store in his memory?" Sanaa nodded and closed her eyes, no doubt doing the transmission then and there. "We'll need someone with the authority to open the doors, since I imagine that's the only way out." It was too sturdy, there was no way they'd be able to just break out violently. "I can sing to do that, preferably late at night so people are too asleep to resist." That was when she was strongest, of course. "C-Callum and I are the most combat o-oriented..." Rose muttered, pitching in. "S-so we'll k-keep everyone safe." Gavin glanced at Miiko then. "Hey, if there's a master key with administrator's permission, can you use your power to steal it?" That way they could use the key to lock the enemy soldiers in their rooms from the control room, it would make this part much easier.

"Phase two is scaling the mountain to get back to the boat." Daisy continued, keeping everyone's attention close at hand. "Does General Cordy have any patrol teams?" Kennan was the one to reply then. "Yeah! Teams of attack dogs to sniff out any intruders!" Attack dogs, probably built to be able to move quickly through the snow. "Um, the dogs are innocent, so I'd rather we didn't hurt them in the escape." Sanaa added. Daisy paused to think, trying to come up with the most efficient way to handle this. "If you two can become a yeti and carry us, it should intimidate the dogs." Gavin suggested, and the twins took that as a hint to try it out, becoming a large abominable snowman, one that could blend in with the snow.

"Lastly, escaping the island with the boat." Jellyfish raised her hand lazily and Daisy nodded. "She can use her bubbles to speed up the boat if we need it. She's also our best long range fighter if General Cordy sends a fleet after us." Sanaa frowned grimly, flipping her dark hair. "He has a squad of attack submarines under the island." She said, and Rose grimaced. One hit and the boat would take too much damage, they couldn't afford to end up in combat with them. "Then for the escape, we should split up, maybe have the team with the master key sabotage the submarines before we meet up at the exit vault door?" Daisy asked, looking at Rose and Miiko in particular.

Miiko wanted to help make plans, she wanted to be of use to their team but had no idea how. Miiko would just have to pretend to fight in. She wasn't a war dog or a soldier, she wasn't even a real light bearer! Not like Stella, who didn't need some sort of artifact to complete her ability, or at least, not as far as Miiko knew. Miiko was never a planner, so perhaps it was better that she was allowing the real team to take the lead and instead setting her ideas on the back burner in case there was ever an emergency in which they would need a catapult. While the big kids discussed, Miiko went off to the side of the tree and looked down. There was nothing underneath the World Tree, no Yavin, no ocean, it seemed that Gavin's dream landscape only went so far as the farthest branch of the World Tree.

When names were passed around, Miiko turned to gave her's out. "I'm Miiko! I can summon and send away belongings!" Items that didn't exclusively belong to Miiko were not out of the realm of possibilities. When Kennan and Sanaa turned into one giant gorilla, Miiko squealed in delight. "That's so cool!" She squeaked, rocking back and forth on her heels in delighted curiosity. "Say, what else can you turn into?" They turned into a dragon, then restored their human appearance as two separate entities. It seemed as though mystical creatures were not off limits, which was perfect because Miiko had many requests. Miiko wished that she had such a cool ability, instead she was just stuck with stealing things, which did not assist to the fact that she was a kleptomaniac.

"If there's a key, I can get it. I would just need to know what it looks like," because Miiko had only ever seen the traditional key. She didn't know if they used something hightech to go with their facility. "That mountain was so cold," Miiko hugged her elbows, shivering at the thought. She flocked to Rose's side, snuggling up against her spirit for warmth. "Say, Kennan, Sanaa, do you two have a spirit?" Miiko inquired, her eyes widening in curiosity. Or perhaps they were like Stella and didn't need one? "I don't want to attack any poor doggies either," Miiko shook her head. Animals were innocent, if they had to harm them then Miiko prefer it be for food so that they did not go to waste. When the people of Yavin killed an animal, they made sure that every part had a use. The meat was eaten, the bones used to make soup, the feathers or pelt could be used to make blankets and clothes, the lining inside of jacket or pillows.

"If it's mayhem you need then you've come to the right girl," Miiko winked. Gavin flashed them a thumbs up, knowing he could rely on Miiko if they needed a distraction. Miiko was adorable after all, if she wanted to all she had to do was well up with fake tears and it would captivate whatever audience she suckered into paying attention to her. Fake a boo boo? Babble about the beauty of spring? Hate snow? Miiko could converse about those topics for hours.

Sanaa closed her eyes and thought up the image of the key long enough for Gavin to grasp it. "Here you go, this is what it looks like, Miiko." Gavin waved his arm and as if made from pixie dust, an image formed in the air in front of the twintailed princess's face. It wasn't exactly a key, but rather a card with a blue strip on the bottom, a keycard. "Ah! U-um, I s-saw that..." Rose distinctly remembered that shape. Callum groaned as if he had a headache just listening to her. "Well, duh. It was around Cordy's neck, like a necklace, or an ID tag." Daisy smiled then and wrapped up the strategy meeting. "Tomorrow night, I'll sing, and Miiko will get the key. Rose, Miiko, you two should go to the control room to disable the submarines while the rest of us will spread my song and Gavin's power to put as many enemies to sleep as possible." Callum nudged her then. "We also gotta gather the twins and keep everyone distracted from the princess."

The twins looked at each other, Kennan with giddy joy, Sanaa with a careful apprehension. "You hear that, sis? We finally won't have to be scared of being found out anymore!" Sanaa nodded gently. "Once we're free, we'll repay the favor, we'll definitely help with the rebellion." It was almost morning, but they still had a little time. While most of them were finalizing the plan, Kennan and Sanaa were bombarded with questions by Miiko, and Jellyfish was staring with curiosity as well. "No, we don't." Kennan said almost sadly. "Only the best are destined to have one." You could see the jealousy burn in his eyes, he wanted a spirit. Sanaa patted Miiko's head with a wry grin. "Thanks again for coming to help us." Rose figured it as less of a rescue and more of a recruitment, however.

It was finally time. They were heavily monitored so it wasn't like they were able to explore the facility or anything. It was rather boring, in fact, to just have to sit in the room and attempt to talk in code the whole time. But then night fell and it was time. This was the only way they were going to be able to beat the storm, if they didn't do this then they'd probably end up going past the four day time limit. Already they were half way through. Daisy began to sing then and Rose reviewed the mental map of the facility she received from Gavin. "Do you want to go for a walk, Hope?" She asked her Caster.

Jellyfish poked Miiko on the shoulder, wringing her hands to try and remind her to summon the key once they find the control room. Rose nodded, feeling anxious about this whole thing. She was going to have to ignore the anxiety, once the fighting started and she entered battle-mode she wouldn't feel it anymore anyways. "W-we sh-should only explore a l-little though." Once Miiko was ready, they would start the mission. Daisy's singing would queue Gavin and Callum in for their part of the plan to group up in the companion bathroom.

|| Stand By Me|| Florence and the Machine ||

When morning came at last, Miiko was a bit confused. You see, the room was so very dark seeing as how there was no window to let the light in. Normally in Yavin, Miiko was used to the window that allowed her to peek out to the outside world and hear the birds sing. Waking up in total darkness with the sound of nothing but gentle snores was disorienting to say the least. Miiko was quiet to rise, only letting out a squeak when Rose appeared out of thin air. "You scared me," Miiko placed a hand against her chest to calm her thrumming heart. "Come on, let's go take a bath." Miiko elected, tip toeing out of the room so that they would not wake up their roommates. The bathroom was right down the hall, a rather large space with three parts to it. One part toilets and sinks, one part a large steaming bathtub with a rinse off area, and the final part a changing room that led into an area marked GYM. Gym? What was a gym? Miiko would have to investigate this later.

"It's so nice and warm in here," could you tell that Miiko was dreading leaving? She wiggled out of her clothing, keeping her light bearing mark carefully covered. She rinsed herself off first, scrubbing her hair and body before sinking into the tub and relaxing. "Look at that view, we're so high up!" The bathroom was empty, steam rising up from the communal bath in swirls that disappeared into the air above. When Miiko placed her hand against the glass it was cold. "It's weird, isn't it?" She asked, "how this room is so warm when at home we don't even have real heating?" Miiko was careful to omit where home was, exactly. Her mind couldn't wrap around the idea of central heating or air conditioning, or the fact that lights flickered down on them from the ceiling and not in the form of candles or lanterns. "This place must use some sort of sorcery," Miiko quietly decided.

After a few hours of down time came the inquiry, the one to go on a walk. "Yeah! Let's!" Miiko rose to her feet, dressed in the clothes she had come in. Their belongings had been washed and returned to them, including the bitter rabbit, Naomi. "Let's find out where they keep the food in this place, I'm starving." Miiko skipped along after Rose, holding her fake big sister's hand. "Esme, look at that." There was a window and through the window, on the floors below, were groups of people crowded around a table, wearing what looked like quarantine gear. Miiko's eyes widened when she realized what was going on; in the center of the group was a child whom they were packing into a body bag. With a gasp Miiko stepped back, nearly falling over Rose.

Those children, were those the ones that had been taken from their homes on Jasper? Were they here, being kept in a crowded room down there? Miiko took another gander, the curtain being drawn abruptly on their viewing. "Maybe we should keep going," Miiko grabbed Esme's arm, or at least the part of it that she could reach, and continued onward, feeling a distinct sensation of panic. They had promised that they were going to take care of the children, that they would cure them, but now one of them was laying, unmoving in a body bag. He had probably died scared and alone without his family there to comfort him. "That's not fair," Miiko whispered, one of her hands balling into a fist. "They promised to fix them."

It was hard to imagine how strange this place must be to someone who had lived in a giant tree for their whole life. To see technology such as what existed in Aurum must be at the very least impossible, perhaps even magical to the uninitiated. "Technology... s-sure is strange, isn't it?" Of course Rose wasn't very surprised at all from this, she was used to it because this technology came from her era. Though the more fancier techs such as holo screens probably didn't exist anymore. They continued down the path to where Rose remembered where the control room would be, where they could remotely sabotage the submarines waiting to be deployed. "L-let's keep looking, s-some food would be nice." She was in battle mode of course, Miiko would realize that from the alert and aware stare coming from her spirit's stone cold eyes.

Eventually they happened across quite the grisly scene on the way to the control room. Down below through the glass windows was what appeared to be a quarantine zone, where the children abducted from Jaspar were taken to, an area cordoned off so that the illness could be contained to the best of their ability. To see children, little kids, torn away from their families, forced to suffer in fear, alone, for a cure that might not even work, and might just end up being all for nothing, it wasn't a good scene to see at all. "There's nothing we can do about it for now." Rose whispered, holding Miiko's hand tightly. "We'll avenge them once the time comes." For now, the first step was to extract Sanaa and Kennan, to take them back to Yavin as quickly as they could.

Through the labyrinthine metal hallways they eventually found it on Rose's mental map, here it was, the control room, where they were supposed to go. From here they needed Miiko to summon the keycard and enter, since they wouldn't be able to get in any other way. That was when a guard tapped her shoulder. Keeping in character as the easily frightened mouse, Rose let out a squeak of terror. "H-hello? Wh-what's wrong, soldier?" The soldier looked at her leeringly and frowned. "Visitors don't have business in this area. You should go back to your rooms." Obviously they couldn't do that, this was their only chance to pull off the plan. "W-we're just lost, sir." She already scanned the area and knew where the cameras were, where the blind spots were. All she needed was to lure the soldier to a blind spot and knock him out, then Miiko could focus on getting them into the control room.

"I'll lead you back." He said with a sigh, gently taking Rose by the elbow. Rose offered a panicked sort of gracious smile and allowed him to lead the way. "The General was very kind in letting you stay here, so don't let him regret it by nosing around." Rose stared at her hands, pretending to try to stop trembling. "Y-yes, I'm s-sorry, we were just l-looking for food..." Ah, finally, she would no longer have to keep up the act. Once in the blind spot, with brutal efficiency, chopped him in the throat with her hand and he stumbled. Rose caught him and gently leaned him into the closet, shutting him in and turning off the radio in his pocket. "Now." She mouthed to Miiko, now was the time to retrieve the keycard.

Miiko felt sick to her stomach, thinking about what was going on in that room below them. Rose expressed that there was nothing they could do at the moment, they were stuck believing with the first step, rescuing Sanaa and Kennan. Then perhaps one day thy would come back here and return these children where they rightfully belonged on Jasper. "We'll bring them back," Miiko spoke quietly so as not to get teary eyed. She turned away, allowing Rose to lead her along the lengthy hallway to the end where a guard was almost lying in wait, giving Rose an odd smile. "I'm hungry Esme," Miiko tugged on Rose's sleeve, playing the part of a hungry little girl carrying around a plush rabbit rather than a rebel preying on an unsuspecting soldier. For whatever it was worth, Miiko was actually hungry since she had been too nervous to eat breakfast.

This was her first real mission as a rebel, Miiko was nervous that she was somehow going to mess this up. She was treading on thin ice here, in the center of the action where the Control Room was located. Inside were likely to be more soldiers, no doubt watching the confrontation take place between Rose and the guard. Miiko stayed quietly while the deed was carried out, knowing that it was her time to shine. She closed her eyes and focused on the card Gavin had shown her in the dream. A white card with a blue stripe, the card that would allow her to successfully carry out her mission and earn the praise of her parents. When Miiko opened her eyes next the card was in her hand. She flashed it at Rose with a confident grin, as though to say; "I told you I could do it."

Miiko placed the card against the reader, not understanding how it worked. "Um... Esme," Miiko looked up at her partner, still using code names, just in case. "How does this work?" Miiko had never used a device quite like this, she had no idea that you were supposed to slide the strip through the scanner. Miiko placed the card the other way on top of the box, no less confused. The light remained red, not so much as blinking. Miiko blinked in place, turning to Rose for help. She held out the card to her, allowing Rose to show her how to use it. "I knew that," Miiko decided and took the card back, marching into the room. "Alright from here on out, we're in charge! You all had better-" Miiko stopped, the room was empty. "That's strange, I've never been so lucky before. Come on, let's find out which buttons are for the submarines!"

Another roadblock, it was all written in old English. "Can you read this?" Miiko asked in confusion, staring at the panels. She placed the bitter rabbit down on one of the empty seats and began to inspect the room, hoping to find some letters that she would recognize and be able to piece together without accidentally setting off an alarm.

With Rose and Miiko's acting skills, that was all they needed to trick this soldier who saw them and thought nothing of them other than siblings who were a little too curious about this top secret facility they were in for their own good. The truth was that they were agents of the Rebellion, a Caster and Spirit duo, and it would not do well to underestimate them, no matter how timid Rose was, or how small and spoiled Miiko was. This soldier learned that lesson the hard way, naturally. And dutifully enough, Miiko now held the keycard in her hand, the card that gave her control over the entire complex. "Good work, let's get in." Rose had finished locking the closet so that the soldier wouldn't be able to get out on his own without help, and now it was time to enter the control room and start the next part of the plan.

...Okay, well, it suddenly dawned on her that Miiko really had no idea how to work the card with the reader. If Prisca wasn't in her battle-ready persona, she would have offered her Caster a helpless yet amused giggle. "I can do it for you, I know how it works." Rose offered, taking the keycard from Miiko's hands, showing her how to do it, running the card through the slit, letting the red light read the blue strip. "Remember it for next time, okay?" Just in case, you never know when you need to know how to do something. And so they entered, Miiko giving a big ol' speech, but to no one, the room was devoid of a single soldier. That in itself was a little bit strange, the spirit supposed. "Yeah, I can read it, let me handle it."

Rose's first course of action was to press the button to disable all of the cameras. She was well aware that there were other rooms with camera access, and with all the cameras down, they wouldn't have to worry about them being spotted. "Only someone with this card will be able to override the command." Rose explained with a grin as she read what the console was telling her. "Okay, now the submarines..." Another series of buttons and typed commands later, she managed to destroy the submarines by opening their entry hatches and then unsealing the waterproof seal in the lower chambers, allowing water to flood the docking bay and crush the submarines from the water pressure.

"Okay, let's go meet up with the others!" All they needed to do was follow the singing voice and they would be all set. But when they met up with everyone else at the vault door which was now opened, a new problem had emerged. Daisy had a wound, she was shot in the stomach and there was some blood. "I-I'm okay, l-let's keep going." Jellyfish kept staring at the wound in worry but Daisy simply nodded at Miiko and Rose who had newly arrived. "Sanaa, Kennan, we're ready, so take us down the mountain quickly." The twins took each other by the hand and then when they were once again exposed to the open air. It was freezing, Gavin passed the winter coats to Rose and Miiko, who were the only ones left to do so. With that the twins became a large lumbering yeti together and one gargantuan hand reached down to scoop everyone up, cupping them with the other hand to shield them from the blowing winds.

The storm would likely be up in full force by the time they reached the boat. It would be dangerous, but they didn't have a choice but to leave by boat and hope to whether the blizzard.

"I'll keep the card safe, don't you worry!" Miiko assured Rose, tucking the card into the palm where her bandages were. To excoriate this bandage would be a great relief. Retiring to Yavin at the end of this mission would assuage the worries that flit around inside of Miiko's skull, at times impairing her judgement and making self doubt the most prominent emotion she was currently experiencing. "How do you read this? I can't make heads or tails of what this says." Miiko traced one of the buttons with a finger, fascinated by the variety of colors and sizes they came in. Unlike the buttons on clothing, Miiko could not take these buttons home. That was good and fine and all, she didn't think Nino would be able to use them, what with all of the writing marring their surface. "Submarines," Miiko recalled, turning to face Rose. It seemed that her spirit was already taking care of it, ensuring that the submarines sunk like rocks in the freezing gray waters.

"The deed is done!" Miiko giggled, bringing up the rear of their two person party. She fell in line with Rose not soon after, clutching her bitter rabbit and the key card that could give them access to any room in the building. "The Master key," Miiko reveled when at long last they reached the place where the team would be meeting up. Miiko's eyes widened, laying upon the blight that tainted Daisy's pretty dress. "No," Miiko squeaked, having seen similar wounds in her short time as a battle field nurse. "You need to put pressure on it to stop the bleeding," her voice was high and squeaky, more a mouse than a kitten. "Miiko, she's going to be fine, Daisy is a spirit, remember? She's already dead." Gavin pointed out, which led to Callum scoffing; they didn't actually know if the spirits could die again, or what would happen if they were wounded, much less shot in the side.

"Here, your coat," Gavin pushed the material into Miiko's hand, forcing her to put it on. Miiko pulled on her jacket and gloves, preparing herself for the frigid weather. In one fell swoop the snowman lifted her up, cupping them all in it great hands. "Do you have any bandages?" Miiko asked, knowing that she needed something to stuff against the blood in order to stem the flow. Miiko glanced up at Rose in worry, "What do we do? Do Spirits die? What if you ever get shot?" Miiko's inflection made it obvious that she did not want to lose her partner. Behind them, the dogs began to bark, having caught their scent. Miiko's breath caught in her throat; she quietly summoned the one weapon that she had, the magical wand that Nino had built for her.

"Faster please, go faster," Miiko whispered, panicked now. Not full blown panic of course, but panicked enough that it made her heart beat jump into her throat and her chest clench as though she could no longer breathe. Miiko squeezed Rose's hand, no longer appearing to be the confident, sassy little kitten she normally was.

After finishing up in the Control Room, it was time to group up with everyone else. Rose and Miiko were doing well, hardly any enemies were coming their way. That meant of course only one thing - the soldiers were preoccupied in trying to fight the other group, weren't they? "I'll teach you how to read old english once we're safe." Rose offered, if Miiko wanted to learn, that is. It's not like it really mattered though, only rarely would ancient languages from before the Calamity appear, and even then, there was no guarantee it would be english. Japanese Kanji for example, seemed to be popular as well. When they reunited with everyone else, it was time to leave Aurum once and for all, the trecherous trek down the mountain would be taken care of by the twins, thankfully giving everyone else - Daisy especially - a break. "I told you press the wound." Sanaa warned snappishly at Daisy who grinned with a bit of shame.

Adorned with gear fit for the cold weather, now more than ever they needed to get moving. "Sailing through the storm at night's going to be terrible, we have to move fast to try and beat the storm if we can!" Gavin shouted to spur everyone into movement. Rose remained dutifully right behind Miiko, prepared to give her a helping hand whenever needed. The twins fused together and became a large yeti beast, lifting everyone up into the air. Jellyfish kept on squeezing down on Daisy's wound no matter how much the spirit insisted that it hurt when she did it, she wouldn't stop. "Don't worry, Miiko." Rose pressed her forehead against that of her Caster in an attempt to assuage her worries. "I wouldn't allow myself to get shot in the first place." Predict and dodge was the name of the game.

Dogs were giving pursuit now but there was nothing Rose could do to try and stop them. "Jelly, let's try and scare them away." Callum pulled out his pistol and motioned for the mute girl to use her bubbles to create explosions. But the mute refused, shaking her head, gesturing frightenedly at her panting Spirit. Callum groaned fiercely and then looked to Miiko. "Princess, think you can take care of Daisy? We're gonna need Jelly's bubbles." Rose scooted over to give Miiko space to move closer to Daisy. "I'll help if you want me to, Miiko, there's quite some blood..." It wasn't long for the sounds of guns, exploding bubbles, and the howling wind to fill the air, drowning out most other noises.

About two hours later the yeti placed them down on the ground and the twins returned to their human forms, both of them panting and shivering from the cold, from how hard they worked to get them this far. Gavin and Callum were quite handy in lifting the twins into the boat and Jellyfish was transporting Daisy in a giant bubble. Since Daisy was hardly conscious, she couldn't drive the boat this time. "I'll handle it." Callum said gruffly, grabbing the controls and that was when they heard the sound, the roar of other boats rushing from other docks to try and stop them. "Dammit, I forgot to disable the fleet!" Rose hissed. Gavin laughed uneasily and looked to Miiko, who had almost seemingly predicted something like this. "W-well, looks like we really will have to use the storm as cover, won't we?"

"I can take over," Miiko complied, allowing Rose's hand to fall out of her's. "I believe you Rose, so please don't disappear. Don't leave me like Stella did," Miiko's words were near silent, meant only for her spirit. Miiko had to speculate whether or not the two of them had some sort of shared telepathy with her spirit, lately it seemed that the two of them could communicate without the need for sounds made by the tongue. Perhaps the two were so in sync that were something that were no longer needed? There did seem to be a change in all three casting pairs. Jellyfish, who was normally oscitant was in a state so vigilant that Miiko had to wonder if she would ever be able to fall asleep. Perhaps Jellyfish had spurts of cognizant that made her hyper aware? So much so that on a day to day basis, they only perceived Jellyfish to be lackadaisical because they only saw her when she was tired?

"I could use a hand," Miiko admitted, moving over a bit more so that Rose could assist in putting pressure on the wound in Daisy's side. "We need a new cloth, this one is soaked in blood." Miiko's gloves were getting wet, the fingertips having turned crimson with the plasma of a ghost. Should anyone attempt to take a blood sample from the spirits, they would be unable to due to the fact that their blood was just a bit different. Since they were not technically alive, their blood was a dark color, more of a mauve purple than a crimson. Miiko was doing her best to block out the sound of gunfire and bubble explosions. She did her best to keep the cries of the unfortunate dogs that had been struck by misfortune out of her mind.

Two hours. For two hours, Miiko kept her hands pressed onto the wound, for two hours she listened to the sounds of battle, unable to think of anything but that battle field. The one where the rebels had been shanghaied, where her family was torn apart and Athena fell ill. "We're here?" Miiko enjoined, rising from her knees into a standing position. A bubble surrounded Daisy, Jellyfish was going to take care of her. "It's freezing!" Miiko complained instantly, the cold seeping through her jacket and piercing her very core. "I still have the key!" Miiko offered, taking it out. "Would that help?" Miiko asked, holding the key out to them. "No, unfortunately," Gavin replied, patting Miiko's head. "Don't you worry, just get on that boat." Miiko turned towards Rose, glowering. "They never trust me with anything." She went below deck, retreating to where it was warm.

"Don't blame yourself Rose, we'll hide in the storm." Miiko assured her spirit, the two of them sitting in the quarters under the deck. There was no window here, Miiko was unable to tell what was happening outside. "It's cold down here too," Miiko shivered and wrapped herself in a blanket. She stripped off her gloves, both o which were covered in blood. "Do you think Daisy will be able to hold on for eight hours?"

Both of them applying pressure to Daisy's wound, it allowed Rose and Miiko a chance to talk a little bit, without the others overhearing. Daisy was already in a state of what appeared to be unconsciousness, she wasn't awake or aware at all anymore, other than little moans of pain she was blissfully asleep. "I won't leave, not until the job is done." Because Prisca knew more than ever than all of this, serving Miiko, it was in order to earn the right to ask Essie for forgiveness, after everything she did. After they rescued Stella, it wasn't like Miiko was going to need her anymore anyways, Prisca already knew she was just a replacement for the real big sister that Miiko no doubt longed to see again every night before she went to sleep. "So don't worry." But once their task was done, whatever it was the Girl of Light wanted, Rose had a feeling whether they wanted to or not, they would have to go.

Finally they arrived at the boat and the twins were given a chance of respite, to catch their breath. They did their job, it was now time for Callum to control the boat to get them out of here. Jellyfish had taken Daisy belowdeck, floating her around in the bubble to transport her safely, they were no doubt going to where it was warm. Miiko was headed there as well, so Rose figured she might as well follow. The twins were also there, both of them huddled closely together, discussing their new freedom and what they could do with it. "We don't want to fight." Sanaa said suddenly and Kennan made a face as if he wanted to disagree with that statement. "Yes we do!" He retorted. "We could be so cool, I want to be on the front line!" But Sanaa shook her head vehemently. "Miiko, you're the princess, right? Jace Miya's daughter. Um, if we want to help but not fight, what could we do?"

It made sense. Unlike those who were raise in Yavin and knew how to fight, the twins were civilians, they probably didn't know the first thing about a combat situation. "Well, you mentioned you were a nurse, didn't you?" Rose added helpfully, a little bit sad to not have them as a comrade for the front line. "You two could be medical staff to help the injured rebels returning home. Not to mention, Athena's ill, so a nurse with advanced technical knowledge would be good." Maybe it was a bit of a stretch but perhaps Sanaa Vorkov held the key to curing Athena's ailment, wouldn't that be nice?

"I want a Spirit!" Kennan protested, acting like a spoiled brat. "I want to be a hero of the rebellion!" Deciding to ignore them and let them tend to their own business, Rose scooted closer to Miiko with a half smile. The girl was notably worried for Daisy and she was still cold, so a hug would be needed to assuage both situations. "Spirits heal faster, she's probably already fine and just being dramatic now." The boat swerved violently, Callum really was driving recklessly. Luckily Rose was holding onto Miiko and held her steady. Daisy was floating peacefully in the bubble, undisturbed by the turbulence. "The wind's getting louder... Oh, there's a message from Jace on the terminal? I'll turn it on." And so Rose pressed the button and allowed Miiko to see her father's face.
