Introduction
Magic Most Human
“Congratulations, Mage, on completing your studies and moving on to the next step. We expect great things from you, Mage, as we always do from our new leaders. Welcome to the seat of Government, and welcome to the rest of your life.”
This message is conveyed to every new class of upcoming mages from the academies that make the cut to be placed in the Federal Government and are headed on to great things. Or that’s how it used to be. The Magocracy that has ruled humanity since the days of the American Imperial Revolution when they finally lead humanity down a path of unity and absolute peace achieved within this empire. Now do not assume that humans are not the dominate species please, for Mages are human, just a more powerful kind of human who happens to live for around three times longer, giving them much greater boundaries. This is why our forefathers put the mages in charge.

Now, just because your father and mother were Mages doesn’t mean you will be, in fact the birth trait that allows a mage to be born instead of a typical Natural baby is undefined and seems to happen at random, but that’s okay, it keeps things fair as the government is run by Mages and Naturals working together and anyone has an equal chance of being a mage.
The world, at least in the United Imperium (The EU, USA, Canada, and Australia) is feeling a great amount of success. But that’s just how it all seems, at least to the public. But you’re not in the public you’re a Mage, now about to work on the Hill, so you aren’t so easily fooled. Something is going on here, but what?
The world has advanced because of this, and now at the turn of the millennium humanity has reached new heights thanks to the Mages. Now, just because your father and mother were Mages doesn’t mean you will be, in fact the birth trait that allows a mage to be born instead of a typical Natural baby is undefined and seems to happen at random, but that’s okay, it keeps things fair as the government is run by Mages and Naturals working together and anyone has an equal chance of being a mage.
The world, at least in the United Imperium (The EU, USA, Canada, and Australia) is feeling a great amount of success. But that’s just how it all seems, at least to the public. But you’re not in the public you’re a Mage, now about to work on the Hill, so you aren’t so easily fooled. Something is going on here, but what?
Now, I know that all this sounds interesting but it doesn’t seem like a good RP right? Where’s the conflict? Where’s the intrigue? Well, you’ll have to join to find out, that’s right, this RP doesn’t have some great cataclysm that we are all living after. No. We are going to have to first live through it and then rebuild.
Now the lore of the world is at the bottom of this page. But since you won’t need it for your character and let’s face it, that’s what most of you are hopefully really wanting to get to, I’ll provide you with information you’ll need to know and a list of needed characters next:
*Note-This RP is set in modern day cities, starting in Washington DC, and then moving on from time to time. I’ll let you know.
Class:
Mage-Born only one out of every thousand births a Mage obviously is not your average human but thanks to science and genetic research they are no longer seen as a whole other species, rather just a different breed. A Mage ages through to their twenties and thirties are the average rate but then metabolic decay slow down allowing them vastly superior life spans. That comes at the trade of their muscle structure, which is less dense and thus weaker than your average human, a Mage who is the same weight as a non-Mage is only about three fourths as strong physically.
However their brains are denser with almost twice the typical folds, allowing them much higher IQ rates and greater intellect. However their brains Age slower much like their bodies, meaning that they will only have access to the much greater intellect at an older age.
Finally, the Magic, of course Mages have access to this power of the Arcane, and whether it is an energy harness by their larger brains or just some power from the soul science cannot determine however there are rules with magic. Typically a Mage learns a specific discipline, although in school they learn a wide range of basic spells for various purposes from levitation to simple combat spells for self-defense. I won’t be defining these disciplines; I’ll leave it to you all, though I will say that each element will be one discipline on its own. Also, there is the discipline of a Vanguard. Vanguards are Mages who through rituals and seals channel their magic into their muscles and tendons to increase their physical power to supernatural levels. They act as guards and military leaders and soldiers in the army.
Natural- a term for humans who are non-mage or magical and while they are stronger physically they are generally less intelligent than their Magical cousins. This is not an absolute of course, however they do seem to have broader minds than Mages, probably because of their schooling being less regulated as Mages are notoriously single minded due to their studies.
A Natural is capable of feats of physical strength that a Mage cannot accomplish, due to their lack of major adrenaline glands for emergencies they don’t experience the hyper awareness and strength that your average human does when in danger. Of course why would they be in danger? The world was safe enough.
*One thing to keep in mind is that Mages and Naturals get along for the most part, though there are some Mages who thing that naturals are to under evolved and seek to separate them from their superiors and attempt to isolate the gene that separates them so as to breed Mages to replace humanity. It is also vice versus with some Naturals thinking that Mages are abominations and must be removed from the world, by force if necessary.

If they have a childhood friend who was of the other class meaning they are comfortable with them or if they were discriminated against in early life for being different it may have made them bitter. Lore
Centuries ago the first Mages appeared, however the most notable of these is arguably Merlin, the first Mage who served alongside humanity and not over them. Now, of course, this is the norm, and the Mages, while making up the majority of the Government, do not make the general legislation and need approval from the Natural’ Assembly for most major policies. This is the system that has lead the United Imperium up to the forefront of the world, a place where Mages and Naturals live together harmoniously for the good of all, but things are not always so peaceful. As with any breed of humanity people, no matter their type, will resist when they feel disadvantaged by something, it is human nature, and so conflict has broken out before, and may one day break out again.
In recent years a new Archmagus, the head of the Mage’s Council which acts like a senate and the Director of the Imperium Sect which acts as the President and his Cabinet, by the name of James Kalius has taken the reigns of the government and with great success. A man who is without a doubt one of the single most powerful magicians in the world he is able to control both the Council and the Assembly in order to bring about peace. He has passed many legislations through the Council that was heavily favored by the Naturals and thus has served as a buffer between the two breeds and bettered the quality of life for the vast majority of people.
His terms of office which last 6 years, of which he has served 6 consecutively, are being heralded as a new age of tolerance and prosperity by many, yet it is no secret that he has made enemies, his laws have greatly inconvenienced some of the magocratic elites and he has many powerful enemies who are supremists in the Council, causing a slight schism in the government. Currently the support for him within his own kind is waning. Although most mages still love and respect him, those who hold the real power in the upper echelons of the government are beginning to grow tired of this Natural Lover and who seems more concerned with the needs of ‘them’ than the needs of ‘us’. Thankfully his power keep those voices silent and peace lasting.

Desmond glanced down at his watch, “Twenty minutes…” he silently made room at the back of his mind to count the seconds. 1200 and counting. That was child’s play for a Mage, their minds were capable of such feats of focus while also being active on other things. Desmond was riding in the limousine to the crest of Capitol Hill, of course the others would be arriving by cab or some other means this fine morning ,something they did to ensure the new guys didn’t get big egos is to ensure they spared every expense on the travel. That would change though. He still remembered his first day on the hill; he’d been called on to aid in a containment spell at the assembly and had instead ended up freezing both the loose magics and three of his coworkers.
Of course things would hopefully not be so disastrous with this latest batch. He’d been given the job of watching over the new staff that would be joining the leading party at the time in their duties, which would be more interesting than actually doing the duties himself. He remembered come to the hill and thinking he’d be busy getting into duels or being sent out to wrangle loose demons or something not being a secretary, but you live and learn. And these new kids who would be arriving by taxi or subway would no doubt think the same as he did. “Too bad things aren’t always so exciting out there… “he mused. The Driver glanced back at him.
“Sir?”
“Huh, oh sorry James, I was just thinking out loud… how's the family?” he proceeded to convers in engaging small talk with someone most mages wouldn’t bother with and thus showed his talent, he was charming, and his ambition was not only large but attainable. He exited the limo and bid his driver a good day, saying they needed to grab lunch together sometime soon on him and catch up, 260 seconds to go…

Robilyn owned a little motor bike she made and even though a few Elders had said not to she had refused to leave it behind and finally they said she could sense they didnt want to get a trailer to carry it. The wind whipped through her hair as she speed throug the little back roads that had little to no traffic, she was hoping to be early but with her luck she would be right on time. She could time it if she wanted but instead she just speed through the streets, sliding to a stop in the spot she quickly calculated the time to findout she was about 2 minutes early, 120 seconds.
Happy with the time she made she dusted off her bike, she loved the thing but was afriad that she would be introuble for bringing it and had spotted a long term parking garage down the street where she decided to pay for it to stay until she knew she could have it. Leaning on a wall waiting for the other newbies to get here she streached and relaxed watching all the people of the capital, many looked at her oddly because of her manner of dress and the thick dark green military style bage she sat on with her stuff in it. Many of the city mages wore suits, or very nice clothing were Robi wore a gray tank top and ripped jeans with a leather jacket and combat boots. It was her normal style but in their polite world unheard of.
Sighing deeply she hoped taht they wouldnt make her change into the 'city' clothes as she was already refering to them in her head. Her blue eyse and snapping red hair also did little to stop people for staring. "Stop staring at me im not a freak!" she growled at the few who had stop to gawk and they quickly moved on. i can sempathize with that conor, but we are getting there, just a few more (you and quantum) and then we'll start regardless becuase we will have enough i believe to get the story rolling
