The Arena

Blinding sunlight hit Shinku's face as she as the ground moved up and into the arena. She held one hand over her eyes to shield them from the sun and looked around. There was a huge cornucopia in the middle that had a ton of supplies. The bloodbath is probably going to start over there... she thought as she studied what objects were there. The only two things that really caught her eye was a bow and some arrows, and the double straight swords. I should atleast get those....

Shinku looked away from the supplies and then at the other contestants. Some would probably be a problem to her, but most of them wouldn't. She looked down at the small circle around her that showed her where she was supposed to stay until the national anthem stopped. One step out and it would be the end for her. She silently waited for the anthem to stop, so she could run.

Right once the anthem stopped and all the noise went away, Shinku knew the games had begun. She dashed forward, grabbing the bow and the arrows and then also the double straight swords. She flung the carrier with the arrows in them on her shoulder and then ran off south into the woods, leaving the other contestants behind. She didn't stop running until she knew that she was far away from the cornucopia and the other contestants. She jumped onto a tree branch and sat down, looking at the two weapons she had snagged.

Eldin waited for the panel to take him up. As he got to the top he was hit by a golden ray of sunligth. He then looked at the other contastants they each were waiting to get to the cornucopia. When he scaned the area he saw a large cole of rope and a trident, and a bin by them. He'll bring the with him to increase his chance of survival, when the anthem finshed he set of straight for the trident, rope and, bin. When he arrived there he picked up the trident in one hand and the rope around his right shoulder ,then picked up the bin and made a bee-line for the woods.

As he entered the woods he ran a few miles away from the cornucopia. He opened up the bin by a tree surrounded by bushes to find two bed rolls, in the bed rolls were packs of food,and two sets of night vison googles, he also found a jacket with a couple of daggers attached to it and more food in it. He smiled that he choose right. Eldin then began to make a net with the rope but he was making it without looking at the rope but the woods surrounding him waiting to see if any one was there.

Shinku looked down from the tree she was sitting on. There was a boy somewhat near the tree she was in. Not making one sound, she grabbed the double straight swords and took them out of the case. She held one in each hand as she jumped from branch to branch until she was over the boy. She hadn't made one sound. That was one of Shinku's skills, since she was kind of small and also very swift and agile, she could easily move without making a sound. She instantly jumped down from the tree branch, landing right behind the boy as she held the two swords in an x around the boys neck.
"Don't move" she said as she held the swords in the x around the boys neck. If he did try to move, the swords would cut him.

Kayato had immediately ran for a sword that was nearby the cornucopia. He was faster than the others, which helped him not get killed. He immediately ran for the trees soon afterward. He did not stop running until he reached a lake.

~This'll be my water source for the first part of the game.~

As Eldin was finshing his net his sense were acting up but he wasn't quick enough.He saw two blades appear right in front of his neck and hearded ,"Don't move".What should I do he thought to himself he exaimed his net he'll lose his head if he uses it.the trident might hit her but her blades were infront of him the only option he could use was making a alliance with his attacker. He then gently spoke to his attacker,"we do not have to fight we can join forces."

The sun glittered into her eyes. She blinked before quickly putting up her hair into a high pony tail before she listen to the anthem. When the anthem stopped, she darted out, not even looking at what she grabbed only knowing that she grabbed a small pack with a knife or dagger of some sort. She then turned, digging her feet into the ground and running north of the forest, away from where the others running. Some unknown kid started to throw a knife at her. It just barely missed her as she twisted her body towards the left barely dodging it.
She kept her feet on the ground as she kept running. She shot into the forest, swiftly and quickly making her way through the trees with ease. She didn't stop running until she was at least a thirty minute jog away from the cornucopia. She panted as she shifted her bag over her shoulder and clutched what seemed to be like a dagger that was about a foot long.
She looked back and heard the voices. She shot the bag infront of her as she scampered through it while she walked slowly. All she found was some iodine, a plastic water bottle and a thin thermal blanket. That was about it. She put the water bottle to her lips and gulped down a few inches of it before putting it back in her bag.

Shinku thought about it for a second then the blades were gone from around his neck and she took a step back, still with the swords sheathed just in case. "I am Shinku Touya, from district seven, and you are?" she said quietly. Shinku's voice was just naturely quiet, for some reason it had always been like that from the first word she said. At first her mother couldn't even hear her.
On Shinku's back was the bow and the arrows in the carrier. She looked at the supplies the boy had. He really just had supplies for living and no weapons, he did have a few daggers though. Once her eyes had scanned over all the supplies, she looked back at the boy.

Eldin turned his head to look at Shinku. He saw a girl holding two swords in a sheath and a bow at her back. Eldin slowly got up and held his right hand out, "I'm Eldin Porca,district four," he said kindly. While he waited he thought this girl might become a valubel assit to me.He said pleasntly ," your good not many people can sneak up on me."

As the plate carrying Riot lifted up, rays on sunlight blinded him for a short moment. He closed his eyes, and meditated on what he was about to do. The music of that anthem was completely lost on him. His strategy was simple, kill everyone in the bloodbath, and then hunt down the few people that were smart enough to run from to cornucopia. He opened his eyes and looked towards the golden horn, allowing his eyes to adjust to the light. He immediately saw his tool. A long pole with a two sided axe head on one side. The thing appeared to be made of iron, but he wouldn't be sure until he hefted it. As the music began to end, Riot crouched down in a stance a sprinter took before a race.

As the anthem ended, he took off at a dead sprint for the poleaxe, sprinting past other weaponry and supplies that could have been very useful. None of it mattered, until everyone else who stayed by the cornucopia was dead. He quickly reached his weapon, and hefted it. It seemed to be made of an iron alloy, as he had guessed. Riot wasted no time. Seeing a boy who was about to pick up a small sword, he immediately swung the weapon, butting the boy away with the blunt end of the pole. Before he had time to recover, he swung again, cleaving off one of the legs clean off, and digging the axehead deep into the other. As he wretched the axe free, he briefly registered his face as the boy selected from district one.

He put his foot up on the boy's chest and swung the poleaxe into his neck. His pained screams stopped instantly. He looked at the other kids chosen. "Who's next??" He yelled at them, pulling his axe free.

As a cannon went off, Shinku looked up at the sky. Someone's been killed already.... she thought as fear shot up in her eyes, but it went away right as it came, she wouldn't let anyone know that she was scared of dying. She looked back at the boy and then took his hand and shook it. "Nice to meet you Eldin Porca. And it's just because I don't make a sound when I move... It's nothing special." she said as she sat down on the ground and sheathed the double straight swords.

Eldin looked at her then sat on the ground. He then reached into thr bin and pulled out a pack of dried fruits and threw it to Shinku for her to catch. He then began to wonder who got killed but dismissed the thought out of his head. He then grabbed the trident that he hid by the bush and placed it right by his leg. Then took out his net and began to finsh it, as he was finshing it he saw a mockingjay over Shinku. He smiled as he saw it and finshed his net it would get most of the competishion ensnared in it.

Kayato was hunting. He knew he was bad at it, which was why he needed to do it now. He had found a cave for shelter, and it was then when the cannon went off.

~One person I won't have to kill myself.~

He also had one problem at hand: he needed allies. The first people to approach him, he would try to align with.

Shinku caught the dried fruits and watched silently as Eldin finished the net. "So, how did you get stuck in this arena...? I volunteered when my best friend's 12 year old sister was called..." she said. She looked up at the mockingjay that was over her head. She watched it silently as it flew over to a tree branch and perched itself on it. I wonder if the bird was created by the Capital too.... she thought.
Shinku sighed then looked down at the ground. "I'm not strong really.... I think I won't make it in this arena.... since I don't want to kill anyone, it's one of my weaknesses. I just can't take someone's life...." she said.

He had killed a bird.

~Not much meat, but it'll have to do.~

He heard people talking nearby.

~Maybe they're friendly.....Then again, maybe not. Better not risk it....Wait, if they're nearby, they're going to see my fire...I'll just make it in the cave.~

He went back to his cave and started making a fire to cook with.

Eldin looks at her and says," if you stay with you'll live longer then most." He then picked up one of the sleeping bags and hand her it then sat close legged. (sigh) "I got in by volunteering for a 12 year old boy," he said kindly then began to hum a saliors tune. Then he stopped and picked a bottle of water and said,"we're going to have to find an lake or water source."

A cannon boomed across the sky; nearly scaring her shitless. "Someones dead already...?" She whispered to herself. Just before she could say anything else, a knife whizzed by her head. She spun around just as quickly as the knife. A tall boy with dirty blonde hair stood just yards away from her. "Shit." She said as he raised his hand once more and chucked another knife at her before darting towards her. He had another knife in his hand and she started to run the opposite direction. She kept running before placing her foot on a rock and launching up into the air, knocking her hands against a low tree branch; lifting up her legs and barely missing the knife.

The boy jumped up after her, just nicking her thigh as she pulled herself up. She grabbed her dagger and chucked it towards him, hitting him in the arm but not killing him. He growled and grabbed onto the branch above of him while pulling the dagger out of his arm and pulled himself up as well; quickly gaining chase onto her. She jumped towards a close by tree branch, her body jerked back and forth as she let loose her grip to take hold onto slim branch. She flipped herself up and hooked her legs onto the branch above and pulling herself up onto the branch above her.

The boy swung his arm at her but could barely reach. She had enough of this and grabbed another one of her daggers before looking at him. "Die bastard!" She growled before jumping down onto him; holding the knife out infront of her. They both fell at least twenty to thirty feet. She felt his grip around her neck grow tighter as they went down. She twisted and turned the knife left to right before quickly taking it out; feeling the hot sticky blood spray onto her body. Her eyes closed as she and the boy landed with a loud thump.

She felt the pain shoot all up and down her body as she jolted and jerked up and down for a while. Her eyes where closed before she opened them. Damn, Im alive... was the only thing she could think before she felt the strong hands wrap around her neck. She coughed and choke before she got a better look at him. She remembered his score; his score was a 1. No way in hell was he a 1! She started to remember how other contestants faked their scores so that they would be less of a threat.

She looked up and at his wound; it was still bleeding. She gripped tight onto her dagger as his grip got tighter. She jerked her hand towards his arm and stabbed his arm. He jerked away with a yell before she kneed him between his pelvis and he jerked back. She lunged forward and forced the knife into his throat; feeling and hearing the crunching sound that it made.

The cannon went off after she sighed from relief; even though she was soaked with his blood. "Yuck..." She grumbled before getting up and continued to move north. Her body ached from the fall and she felt pain whipp through her bones and muscles at each step.

"I saw a lake while running Northeast from here. The forest ends at the shores of the lake." Shinku said. "So you volunteered too...?" I wonder who's going to die next.... she thought as she looked at the sleeping bag that Edlin had handed to her. "We should rest.... in the morning we could go to the lake." Shinku said as she set the sleeping bag down on the ground.

The cannon boomed. It was practically right next to him.

~Let's see who the victor is.~

He checked, and the girl who was from his district before had killed a guy and splattered the guy's blood all over her.

~She's good. I definitely want her as an ally, not an enemy.~

He approached her, hoping she would at least give him time to talk.

Kisa heard and saw some movement. She turned her body towards the movement as she looked at him closer. It was a boy from her district. She growled before holding up a dagger pointing towards him. "Move away or you will die." She was threatening, but not too threatening as she examined him; his body language told her that he wasn't a threat, so she didn't attack but she was careful.
Her teal eyes where stern and did not move from his position. She had seen him once before; walking the streets but she didn't know him personally, she only knew that he was studying in the same field as her brother.
Instinctively, something came out of her mouth she thought she would never say. "Friend or foe." She quickly clamped her mouth shut as she stared at him; still in her defensive stance.

"Friend. I watched your fight. You're pretty good, too. You're from my district, correct? Anyways, I wish to be allies. I have none thus far and suck at hunting. The only thing I caught is this."

He motioned to the bird he had caught, which was in his hand.

"I found a lake near here, with a cave. If you wish, I can take you there."

Riot was splattered in blood. Two more had been killed by him, the girl from district 8, who had attempted to seem innocent and helpless. He put his axehead in her heart before she had a chance to speak, or pull off whatever her plan had been. His third victim had been the enraged girl from district one, a career who thought she was assured to last long by partnering with her partner from one. She'd been fast, and her knives left a number of cuts on his body. None of them were too serious, and he could completely ignore them as his adrenalin kept high.

He was currently facing off against a swordsman, the boy from district 5. He'd managed to get himself a sword and a set of chain mail while Riot had been fighting the two girls.

"You're a monster!" The boy yelled, charging at Riot. "How can you just massacre people like that??"

Riot dodged the first sweep of the blade, and bunted the boy a few feet away before he could launch a second one. He had to watch his words. All eyes in the capitol were on him now. "The people of the capitol want a bloodbath." He said coldly. "I am simply giving the people what they apparently desire." He went for the attack this time, quickly using the blunt end of the poleaxe to knock the boy off guard, then crushed him to the ground with the flat of the heavy blade. "How about it, Capitol??" He yelled to the sky. "How do you like what you've started??"

His words, while powerful, gave the boy a chance to strike. The tip of his blade dug painfully into Riots calf. With a roar, he sliced the axe into the boys head, stepping away from the blade. The wound would surely slow him down, but he couldn't stop yet. His vengeance wasn't finished just yet.

"Alright Shinku we do need ower rest so I don't think any of the gamemakers will try to flush us ou due to the killings now,"he said distastefully. Eldin then got up pick his sleeping bag and placed it next to him. He moved the net close to his left arm then got his trident and placed it near his right hand. Eldin then says," twenty-four for the picking one to the winnings," he then chuckled to his joke.

Kisa looked at him before lowering her dagger; but from the looks of it, she wasn't really trusting him. She looked at the bird before him before walking near him. "Try anything funny and I will slit your throat." She warned before walking near him and past him. She stopped for a second to allow him to pass her to guide her; she was still very cautious about it, clutching her bag towards her and the last dagger was gripped in her hands. A few more cannons went off. "More? Who is doing the killings?" she whispered to herself.

Two more cannon shots went off. It was quickly followed by a third. They eventually reached the lake, with the cave right next to it, barely visible because of the roots and leaves of various trees.

"Here we are."

Shinku lied down on top of the sleeping bag, but she didn't close her eyes or try to fall asleep. She just kept staring at the stars in the sky. I wonder if I will die in this arena.... she thought. She knew she wouldn't be able to fall asleep if she tried anyways, so she just picked out the constellations in the sky. When her father was actually with her and her mother and little sister, they would always pick out the constellations together, it always made Shinku feel better when she wasn't in a great mood.
Shinku sighed silently then looked over at Eldin to see if he was asleep.
