Elloit

A Witch Hunter who has been declared Extremis Diabolus by his own best friend due to his being a half-vampire.

0 · 444 views · located in The Infinite Void

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by elloit

Description

He wears a floor length brown leather trenchcoat, beneath which are a pair of brown trousers and an off-white cotton shirt. On his head he wears a wide-brimmed, tall peaked hat- a sign of his profession, which also helps to slightly conceal his face, which is heavily scarred. His eyes are a piercing flint, and his short hair is dark brown. He wears sturdy knee-length leather boots, and his hands are similarly gloved, with hisforearms protected by metal braces. Buckled over the outside of the coat is a section of plate armour, which covers his chest and back. Dozens of religious icons hang from chains around his neck, along with a bandolier of stakes and crosses. Holstered at his waist are two pistols, along with a rapier and pouches containing various other holy items. His whole body is dotted with purity seals which tell of his deeds, accomplishments, and purity. His skin is deathly pale, however, and he burns in natural sunlight much more easily than "normal" humans...

Personality

As a Witch Hunter, he is used to being disliked and feared by a lot of people. It is no surprise, then, that he cherishes all of his friends dearly. Needless to say that when one of those friends betrayed him, it caused some emotional damage. He is no longer the happy, enthusiastic and eager person he used to be. Instead he is constantly wary, suspicious, and mistrusting. He still wishes to make friends, but the fact that he is so cagey and sceptical is a slight hindrance. He also thirsts for blood, thanks to his half-vampire nature, though he is not undying, and still needs to drink and eat normally, unlike "true" vampires. On the plus side though, he can still go out in the sun, which is an advantage over those "true" undead. He also has access to some fairly basic psychic techniques.

Equipment

Two Flintlock pistols, plus bags of blessed silver ammunition. A silver rapier, again blessed, along with numerous stakes and holy icons. A vial of holy water, the ground bones of Saint Edgar, and his most prized possession of all- one of the great Holy Hand Grenades.

History

At age 12 he was chosen to become a Witch Hunter, and consequently removed from his parents and sent to a secluded monastery, where he would be trained in the art of combatting the most foul creatures imaginable. At the age of 15 he graduated, quickly rising to prominence as someone who could learn quickly, and never let his faith falter. He served for 10 years, during the course of which he successfully caught and burned thousands of heretics, and defeated numerous Demons and oher such creatures. His distinguished record was recognised by a number of religious leaders, who all agreed on what a credit he was to organised faith. Then, 3 months later, it happened. He was attacked and bitten by a group of vampires. Though he fought back and managed to vanquish them, the damage was done. Though he had not been converted to a "true" vampire, enough of his blood had been drunk and replaced to make him a half-blood. Not knowing where to turn for this, he went to his best friend for help. Horrified that Elloit had allowed this to happen to himself, the supposed friend declared him Extremis Diabolus, an enemy of the Witch Hunters. Now he is no longer welcome amongst the only world he has ever known, and on the run from his former colleagues. Despite this turn of events, he refuses to bow to his would-be masters amongst the vampire population, instead working freelance for whoever will pay. Of course, he still takes on all manner of awful creatures because he feels it is his duty, but he is much less caring as to whether or not something is "evil", when he himself is an abomination in his own eyes.

So begins...

“ "I was trying to stop a fight breaking out, instead I almost caused one." he replied without turning around. Damn, the girl must be really panicked. He had once been told his orator's voice could be heard over just about anything, time to put it to the test. "Listen to me." He said in a calm, collected, but loud voice, as though he were preaching a sermon "The danger is gone, it is safe for you. You must calm down, or the pain will get worse." ”

“ "I'm not exactly a practiced therapist." He said to Lynn, his attempts at speaking to Railynn having clearly failed. He would have to remember that. Then the mental outburst from Railynn hit him, and he staggered slightly. To think that today had started so well! Uncertainly, he reached out to place his gloved hands on the wings, mimicing Lynn's movements. ”

“ "Come on, we're not here to hurt you. Your sister just wants to now you're safe." He said softly, a tone he did not use too often. He too gently took hold of a wing, and began to gently but firmly prise it away from Railyn's body. ”

Character Portrait: Elloit Elloit says,
“ The magic Lynn was pouring into her sister didn't appear to be working. Shit. He was no healer, he couldn't- wait a minute! "You may want to stand back a bit, I'm going to try something." If this girl was all light, and the other one all darkness, then surely his holy water would have a positive effect? Removing the vial, he poured a small amount of the liquid into her open mouth. His fingers smoked slightly where he touched it, yet another reminder that his purity was now forever lost to him. If this worked, then he would have reason to give the Gods extra praise indeed! ”

“ "Yes...it did. It actually worked!" He said, surprised that his plan had actually succeeded for a change. The fever was lowering, and the light emanating from Railynn was probably a good sign. "Perhaps this fever is brought about by a spiritual imbalance, some taint on her soul." He was still speaking to Lynn for the moment, unsure as to whether or not the one with the fever would be able to hear him. ”

Character Portrait: Elloit Elloit says,
“ A child that was part demon and part angel? Such a thing was inconceivable to the pious Witch Hunter, a blurring of two boundaries that were supposed to remain distinct. "If that is the case, then I fear for her. Demons I can fight, Angels I can kneel to, but a mixture of the two? It is unnatural." He stated, before murmuring "how could such a thing have been allowed to happen?..." The looks that the sisters were swapping with each other indicated that they were communicating telepathically. Clearly there was something they didn't want him to know... ”

Character Portrait: Elloit Elloit says,
“ This was all too much for him. Part demon, part angel. The words repeated themselves endlessly in his mind. How could the Gods ever allow that to happen? He needed to clear his head, needed to seek guidance on the matter. He needed to pray. Renting out a room on the tenth floor for a night (the first time he had done so, despite spending most of his time here), he headed swiftly up the stairs, exiting the bar. He was already beginning the rites of cleansing, in preparation for his worship... ”

Elloit Walked slowly into the bar. Unlike a lot of people in this place, he no longer felt the need for flashy entrances. He took a quick look around before heading over to the bar and grabbing a stool. He ordered a round of ales for himself, and sat down, ready to drink.

Elloit Was mildly surprised by how quiet it was in the bar. Usually it was full to the brim with people doing all sorts of things, including beating each others brains out. Then again, he was usually still passed out from drinking so much at this time of day, and the fights he could definitely do without. He had had to get involved in one last time he was here after they knocked over his drink and refused to apologise. He definitely preferred this place quiet.

Elloit Downed his drinks quicker than he had expected. He had just remembered that he had other important matters to attend to. Standing, he quickly and quietly left. It was a shame, because the music they were playing in the bar was good. Oh well, there would always be some other time, he thought as he walked out into the warmth of the day.

Elloit Enters slowly and cautiously. He knew that they were looking for him, and that he would have to be careful. But still the call of alcohol was much too strong, and he dearly wanted to drown himself in booze, something that he was more than willing to attempt right now. Sighing heavily he sat down on a barstool and ordered an ale, preparing himself for a long night of drinking...

Elloit Nodded his thanks to Kisa as she set down his ale. When she returned and spoke to him he noticed how jumpy she sounded. "No, that's fine thankyou." he replied warmly "Are you alright? You seem a little uncomfortable?" he enquired.

Elloit Jogged in beneath the nearby gate. Where was he? He had never been this far from the bar before. Oh and he had only had one drink! Woe! Never mind, there would be plenty of beer remaining when he eventually returned, which he was sure he would. Approaching two nearby individuals he asked "Excuse me, but do either of you know what this place is?" he asked.

Elloit Now that he was a bit closer he recognised the second individual for what it was- a death god. He had dealt with their kind before oh yes. Back on his own world it was even possible to kill one, though he doubted it worked that way here. This world was just so different. "Thank you for the information. It is much appreciated." He bristled slightly at the second individual's (he looked a bit Elven to him) greeting. "Good tidings to you also, but do not call me that. The holy part of that title was removed long ago." he seemed slightly melancholic about that last part, as well he was. Part of that disgrace was what had sparked his alcoholism.

Elloit "Jap-an? I have never heard of such lands. There is so much I have not heard of. It is what makes me glad I came to this dimension." He proceeded to return the Elf-like nobleman's bow. "Do not concern yourself with my armaments, I have no plans to use them here." he assured the man(?). "If your life is dull here why not return to your own plane?" he asked the death god.

Elloit "Ah, that is a good reason to remain indeed." he told the Shinigami. "Greetings, Lord." he said with another bow. "I am Elloit of the Order of the Flame. Truth be told I know not what my plane of origin would be called, but the name of your house sounds somewhat familiar. It would certainly be nice to talk with someone from my own world once more. Forgive me, but are you of Elven ancestry? There is something of their character in you which I cannot quite place."

Elloit 's face lit up with something akin to joy. Someone from his homeland was here, and in the same situation as him! Then he realised that Vlanderfel might not see it that way, so he sought to explain. "Forgive me for my relief, but I had feared I was the only one! Sadly I too arrived here by accident, and have not yet found a means of escape." He turned to the Shinigami "Ultimate suck? I have not heard such a term here before, but that sounds about right." then he spoke more generally "you see I arrived here because I was experimenting with psychic powers and somehow this dimension just pulled me in as I attempted to view it. It was a rather uncomfortable journey feeling every piece of your body break down and then re-materialise."

Elloit "Your entire chamber was transported!?" he exclaimed "How is such a thing even possible? I do not claim to understand the workings of magic, only of ways to dispel it, but I cannot fathom the power involved in that!" When the man mentioned using emergency funds he grimaced slightly "I had no funds when I arrived, and my methods for gaining money so far have not exactly been savoury. I do not enjoy mercenary work, or anything of the sort, but needs must in hard times such as these." he didn't mention that the reason that he had to keep taking on such work was because he spent most nights drinking himself to sleep in the establishment known as Gambit's Bar.
