Elloit

A Witch Hunter who has been declared Extremis Diabolus by his own best friend due to his being a half-vampire.

0 · 447 views · located in The Infinite Void

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by elloit

Description

He wears a floor length brown leather trenchcoat, beneath which are a pair of brown trousers and an off-white cotton shirt. On his head he wears a wide-brimmed, tall peaked hat- a sign of his profession, which also helps to slightly conceal his face, which is heavily scarred. His eyes are a piercing flint, and his short hair is dark brown. He wears sturdy knee-length leather boots, and his hands are similarly gloved, with hisforearms protected by metal braces. Buckled over the outside of the coat is a section of plate armour, which covers his chest and back. Dozens of religious icons hang from chains around his neck, along with a bandolier of stakes and crosses. Holstered at his waist are two pistols, along with a rapier and pouches containing various other holy items. His whole body is dotted with purity seals which tell of his deeds, accomplishments, and purity. His skin is deathly pale, however, and he burns in natural sunlight much more easily than "normal" humans...

Personality

As a Witch Hunter, he is used to being disliked and feared by a lot of people. It is no surprise, then, that he cherishes all of his friends dearly. Needless to say that when one of those friends betrayed him, it caused some emotional damage. He is no longer the happy, enthusiastic and eager person he used to be. Instead he is constantly wary, suspicious, and mistrusting. He still wishes to make friends, but the fact that he is so cagey and sceptical is a slight hindrance. He also thirsts for blood, thanks to his half-vampire nature, though he is not undying, and still needs to drink and eat normally, unlike "true" vampires. On the plus side though, he can still go out in the sun, which is an advantage over those "true" undead. He also has access to some fairly basic psychic techniques.

Equipment

Two Flintlock pistols, plus bags of blessed silver ammunition. A silver rapier, again blessed, along with numerous stakes and holy icons. A vial of holy water, the ground bones of Saint Edgar, and his most prized possession of all- one of the great Holy Hand Grenades.

History

At age 12 he was chosen to become a Witch Hunter, and consequently removed from his parents and sent to a secluded monastery, where he would be trained in the art of combatting the most foul creatures imaginable. At the age of 15 he graduated, quickly rising to prominence as someone who could learn quickly, and never let his faith falter. He served for 10 years, during the course of which he successfully caught and burned thousands of heretics, and defeated numerous Demons and oher such creatures. His distinguished record was recognised by a number of religious leaders, who all agreed on what a credit he was to organised faith. Then, 3 months later, it happened. He was attacked and bitten by a group of vampires. Though he fought back and managed to vanquish them, the damage was done. Though he had not been converted to a "true" vampire, enough of his blood had been drunk and replaced to make him a half-blood. Not knowing where to turn for this, he went to his best friend for help. Horrified that Elloit had allowed this to happen to himself, the supposed friend declared him Extremis Diabolus, an enemy of the Witch Hunters. Now he is no longer welcome amongst the only world he has ever known, and on the run from his former colleagues. Despite this turn of events, he refuses to bow to his would-be masters amongst the vampire population, instead working freelance for whoever will pay. Of course, he still takes on all manner of awful creatures because he feels it is his duty, but he is much less caring as to whether or not something is "evil", when he himself is an abomination in his own eyes.

So begins...

Lord Vlanderfel frowned slightly "Well I am indeed very sorry to hear that noble Elloit...Perhaps the gods were fickle and granted me good fortune when they should have blessed it to you." he stated. Aruso had to be quite cunning with his bluff and he had to consider it very fast "Well, I did not possess neither funds as well, when I mentioned emergency funds I meant bartering almost all my wardrobe, jewelry box and other furnishings for these strange bank notes that seem to be currency here." The half flaunted a very poor amount of bills "I come from a merchantry family, but seeing that I did not realize the true value of many of the goods from our world I was cheated by a good deal of men." he stated slightly ashamed. A smile rose back from his lips "Though I did met some honest one" and then pulled out an even larger roll of bills that was bigger than his own hand. Unrolling the bills he offer the equalient of one thousand dollars "Here, please take donation of good faith.. By the gods it seems like you have been through much and it would honor me to know I was helping a member of the order of flame be able to focus on his duties rather than his expensive." The false noble offered.

Elloit "Oh no I really cannot accept, Lord!" he replied, holding up his hands as if to ward away the strange currency. "It would not be right of me to take such a gift from one who is easily in as bad a position as me. I am sure you will be able to put it to far better use than me anyway." he knew that if he had the money it would only be squandered on drink. Then he considered that perhaps the nobleman was trying to drop a subtle hint. He lowered his voice and cautiously added "If, however, you are attempting to gain my services for something then I am open to...negotiations." as much as he had said he disliked the work he had to admit that he enjoyed the adventure of it all, particularly that one time a bard in Gambit's had recounted a tale of his exploits.

Elloit "A bodyguard if you wish. If not I can take on contracts for such dubious business as...assassination. Just about anything provided it keeps me in food and shelter, and possibly a little extra on the side. As I said, times are tough, and that sort of work exists in abundance here. I have to have some way to make a living until I find a way to return home afterall." he was not proud that it had come down to becoming a sell-sword in order to survive, but neither did he really mind. The work was not that different to what he had done on his home plane when he thought about it. At the back of his head however there was a slight nagging suspicion. What had the noble hoped to achieve by offering such a large sum of money, seemingly for nothing? Maybe he would find out later...

Elloit "Aye, but I am already being hunted, so I care not for the troubles of any victims. Just another person looking to backstab me as far as I'm concerned." His eyes took on a strange glint at the mention of a tavern, especially seeing as this individual seemed to have plenty of money. "Yes a drink would be good where we can discuss matters further. I am sure we both have plenty of reminiscing to do over our lost world!" he replied with an equal grin.

Elloit "Yes, that is where I have been looking these past few days, and there are many good leads to be found. Plus the ale is good." he added with a chuckle as the pair moved off in the direction of Gambit's bar.

Entered the bar with slow, heavy footfalls. He took a cursory glance of the occupants, then approached the bar. Alcohol was the key. The key to washing away his sorrows and occasionally giving him a positive outlook on life. To that end he ordered himself three ales, before turning once more to sweep his piercing gaze over the bar's patrons.

Collected his drinks, taking a long sip of the first one before noticing someone staring at him. That wasn't usually good. Usually people staring at him meant they were going to try to kill him. He'd prefer it if that didn't happen. Maybe they could just talk it over? Standing, he strode over to the kid and took a seat opposite him, placing his drinks on the table before him. He couldn't help overhearing a fraction of the conversation between another two patrons, and smiled to himself. Seemed like he was neither the only slave, or the only slayer in the room...

Turning to the kid he asked "What is it you want? Who sent you after me? And don't you know it's rude to stare?"

Elloit Simply laughed. "Why so scared? It's not like I was going to kill you. You wouldn't have been worth the blessed bullet." He thought for a moment and then added "Perhaps I'm just being paranoid, care for a drink?" and offered the individual one of his ales.

Elloit Took another sip, placeing the mug down on the table and twisting adjusting his hat to block out the light slightly more. "Fine, have it your way. I didn't drink much either until a few weeks ago. But enough about me, you still didn't tell me why you are here." He wasn't that used to trying the friendly, diplomatic approach. He hoped he was going about it properly.

Elloit Also nodded sagely. "It seems that not many people around here know how they arrived, and I'm one of them." For the briefest moment his eyes glazed over as his mind drifted back to his homeland. He quickly pushed the thoughts away by draining what was left of his ale. There was no time for the past, only the present. "A detective you say? I used to be a detective of sorts...Still am, in a way." He wasn't sure he had the definition of detective right, but hunting out witches and other monsters was sort of like detective work, wasn't it?

Elloit Raised an eyebrow quizically. "Ki-ra?" he rolled the word around in his mind, trying to make sense of it before giving up. "I am sorry, I am not familiar with this term. Seems that I still haven't picked up all of the local slang yet." He gave a genuine smile, something he did not often do. Obtaining new knowledge was one of the things he truly loved about being trapped in a different dimension.

His eyes lit up at that, some of their old fire momentarily returning. "A notebook? Killing people? What manner of sorcery or daemonic possession is this?

Elloit Gently stroked his goatee. "That definitely sounds like sorcery, and a potent kind at that..." He reached for the next ale, and drank half of it. He was sorely tempted to temporarily take up his old profession, just for one last adventure, but he knew he shouldn't, and probably couldn't. The master's hold on him had certainly increased with time, to the point where he was no longer sure he could resist it. In the end, he gave in to temptation. "Tell me, what became of this book?"

Elloit Once more than fiery spark entered his eyes. "I see. I would make sure that their guardians can be trusted not to abuse them if I were you. Now, if possible I would very like to see a copy of-" he was interrupted by a spike of pain that caused him to grit his teeth, and the master's voice boomed through his head "That does not seem like an appropriate task for one such as yourself. Return to my dwelling, I have work for you." Despite what he wanted, he was powerless to disobey, and hesitantly stood, his ales and the boy completely forgotten as he left to carry out his grim work...

Elloit Swung the door openly slowly, taking time to survey the interior of the bar before stepping inside, closing the door behind him. His boots caused a slight booming sound in the unusually empty tavern, as he made his way over to the bar. Then, seeing the squid-thing there, he grimaced and moved as far away from it as possible, which conveniently led him into its darkest and dingiest corner. Time for some serious drinking (again). "Bargirl." He called in an entirely neutral tone "Three flagons of your finest ale, if you please."

Elloit Accepted his order with a kind smile. "Thank you." he said, taking the first gulp, "How much do I owe you?" Before another gentleman rudely interupted him. "Never mind, I'll pay once that brute's got his order..." he added, his face showing his distaste for the man.

Elloit Took a look at the bill, then at his coin bag, then back at the bill. He didn't think he'd ever seen ale so cheap as it was in this dimension. Feeling sorry for the girl for having to deal with such an uncouth gentleman, he paid double, leaving half of it as a tip. Some people just didn't appreciate the service the bar staff gave enough. After all, without them, he wouldn't be able to keep on drowning himself in alcohol day after day. He might even have had to consider his circumstances with his new 'master'. That thought alone was depressing enough to cause him to down the rest of the first drink in one.

Elloit Quietly noted that the bar was beginning to fill up now. That made him all the more glad that he'd already claimed the darker corner of it. And then some woman sat down near him who practically radiated kindness and sunshine. It completely baffled him why someone like that would be here. Then again, she did have a lost look to her eyes, and he commented as much to her. "Are you quite alright ma'am? You look a little lost, or perhaps just distant..." His voice was kind, but his eyes didn't soften. Hell, they almost never softened anymore, even if his tone did. Reaching down, he took another sip of his ale. She really did look quite lost, perhaps she hadn't even heard him speak?
