a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by lil_kreen

Description

Given Title: Jinhai
Race: Ascended hairworm, satellite being.
Age: Not applicable
Gender: nonsexual, appears male
Overbeing/Faction: Myrkul's Vein
Birthplace: Black Storm.
Religion: Apatheist
Identifying characteristics: Unable to imitate a human face, otherwise identical to others of its size when a worm.
Physical Condition: Excellent but generally suffering from overexposure to sun.
Languages: English, Draconic, Loross, High Gothic, Low Gothic
Current residence: Iterant
Occupation: Discoverer, Construction servitor

Personality: Jinhai can be curt but it isn't out of malice. Generally a slow thoughtful sort Jinhai is prone to bouts of self-consideration and is impossible to offend. Though Jinhai appears male it has no sexual needs but for a deep appreciation of beauty. As long as there is something to learn from a being Jinhai has a rather flexible morality and will follow anyone that will let it. While following someone it cares to learn from it generally prefers to remain in its humanoid form except when eating. Jinhai has little inherent appreciation for social constructs between individuals even its allies but isn't malicious. The notion of a giant segmented worm chewing rocks at a table causing fear isn't something it generally concerns itself with. Its lack of social learning mostly evinces in an inability to understand itself as a stranger to others or the concept of personal space and territory. Jinhai's flexible morality often means it has no scruples against prioritizing the life of a title of interest over unknown life whether sapient or otherwise. It will use its loci to kill lesser creatures so one of interest stays alive without much hesitation especially if the person of interest is Humankind.

Background:Myrkul's vein created Jinhai as a being in its own accord to come and go as it pleases to serve construction tasks. This frequently leaves Jinhai moving through the planar network called the way currently connected to Terra. It is interested in learning all there is to learn to further the intellect of its overbeing.

If attacked, even if a gross violation of social niceties make it Jinhai's fault, its predatory talents can emerge in defense. If defending itself to a lethal degree Jinhai rapidly loses its placid peacefulness in favor of a sociopathic bent unless outside forces it respects ask it to stop and ponder. In either case Jinhai is unlikely to express remorse but if not threatened will at least express a distaste for what occurred.

Equipment: Though Jinhai frequently looks like it carries a backpack that is only to accommodate extra mass it is not investing into the humanoid form. Jinhai carries little with him but has various crystals and tools floating in its mass. This is used for his channeling of magical energies as an ascendant hairworm. Jinhai has taken to carrying metal projectile weapons inside its chest mass for deterring or killing unsuspecting targets and they are often seen bobbing to the surface.

Limitations: The nature of what composes Jinhai makes sight problematic. Jinhai cannot see very far though it can read quite well. Some larger details such as color, texture, or writing are sometimes lost on Jinhai if not close enough. Its name is kept as a distinct part of its being as the only real natural "organ" on the inside of its mass. If this worm is disrupted it will take time to reform and Jinhai will have difficulty recalling or forming memories. As the worm is frequently on the move it is difficult to target specifically without some way of tracking the creature.

Its 'Eyes' have a similar behavior but while in humanoid form they are not necessarily all under the hood it generally shapes to contain its non-face. Wherever Jinhai puts a eye-bump is where it looks from whether on the palm of a hand or the back of the neck. It cannot usefully see from an arbitrary surface on its body though the eyes can be easily reconstituted if dispersed.

Powers:
  1. Loci Crystals - Some of the loci crystals are for the carving into hard asteroids, many for manufacturing homes for groups of satellite hairworms, and others for defeating threats local to its home plane. Using these tools Jinhai is capable of transmuting comparatively vast quantities of living creatures or small amounts of mass into psimass. Other darker arrangements destroy matter though it causes significant strain to Jinhai in channelling disintegration rays. This is both to defend Myrkul's Vein from interlopers as much as to keep its targets of interest alive.
  2. Discrete Levitator - The microscopic creatures composing Jinhai are only bound to gravity when in humanoid form and can disconnect from the main mass for a short while. As a worm it careens easily through mid-air without apparent lift. It can carry a passenger though past unless very small will not be able to maintain much altitude. It can dispatch smaller copies of itself to deal with necessary tasks which have similar if more limited properties. The lack of true tissues inside of a hairworm make sharp objects without signifigant force behind them impractical to cause any real damage.
  3. All-consuming - Though a true omnivore its humanoid form isn't distinct or solid enough to engage in lithovore behavior. If the 15' long 2' wide hairworm is presented with a weapon held still too long the metal object is more likely get bit in half and chewed into dust than batted away. The worm can otherwise dessicate small creatures into carbon dust in but a few seconds.
  4. Manifester - While it can use psimass to manifest objects and weapons out of nothing such objects degrade spontaneously into piles of ectoplasm if the process is disrupted. What composes Jinhai can use these abilities in aggregate to shape actual material but Jinhai has to actually know how to make the object in question and have the right material rather than just know how it should work. Given the Almanac is quite expansive it is capable of at least repairing nearly anything.

So begins...

Ean nodded at Akio before turning to face plinth. "Ma'am, I'd like you to go to the Infirmary with Craig here." The Captain Said, pulling aside a creature that resembled a Minotaur with blue fur and a bladed scorpion like tail. The creatures face had no mouth, a set of four slits where the nose should be, and four eyes, two located in the skull, and then two more set upon stalks that swiveled over the creatures head. His pointed ears twitched as Ean called his name, and he bowed his upper half before Plinth.

It is my pleasure, miss. The creature's words do not issue in an audible form, but would be felt as a psychic presence in plinths mind. Furthermore, the creatures mind is not shielded or protected, as most psychic individuals are. His very being is exposed and left bare, and should you wish, you could intrude on his thoughts, his memories, all parts of him with ease. Indeed he does not flinch at that touch, and the slight brush against his mind reveals that his people's culture is much the same, their minds are all open to one another, and as such they are blessed with greater kinship.

To Akio Ean laughs aloud before turning to him with a smile. "I'll get you some later so you can see, for now though." And here he turns back to Emily. "Get us up in the air, keep us in atmosphere and take us out to the wastelands."

Emily nods. "Aye captain. All hands to Stations, Marckus spin the engines. Talis, Doreah, Vna, ready targetting matrices and armaments, get a flight plan set." The helmswoman gave commands with ease, clearly practiced at her job.

Ean nodded as she set to her task, then gestured for Akio to follow him as he departed for his personal quarters.

Plinth's leg momentarily split open flexing instinct as it disincorporated when she looked at the large non-mankind a large blue bull named Craig. Inside her mind Dicta chiseled into her psyche recoiled at the psychic touch of a nonhuman. Not out of distaste but of a writ-in avoidance toward the unknown common to all hairworm of the Fallen Emperor. Plinth's own feelings were muted though brighter than her brothers lacking the fine psychic control her brothers possessed to reach far to anything. Her control was more implicit and natured bonded to her human half as it was. She still had some to learn to employ it. Though a psychic presence in her mind might feel the alert but idle defenses installed there.

If Ean spoke at him then she could too, she reasoned, her brothers had passed on Myrkul's new dicta to be gracious to the unknown. She still felt the dicta crawling around in her head autonomously updating as it went.

The rifts in her legs sealed as Plinth clutched at her midsection to talk to Craig, "Okay, Craig, I guess I could afford to get these things out of me. I'm missing a fair bit of blood. You echo inside, do you have an overbeing?"

The sky inside Plinth's mind was filled with the implicit contact to Myrkul. An overbeing that hadn't noticed Craig's attention to its sub-being, Plinth. It towered large from somewhere very far away a whispering library of arcanum in impossible scale.

Jinhai were taxed by the Umbralkind dragon but escaped its wrath for the time being. Myrkul was not prepared yet to combat such a threat they must remain in the background for now. The battle yet raged in the plaza but already there were other threats to Mankind in this city. A pack of Wen followed an epicenter of shaking as energy pouring out from a single arcane core. Each plated paw of the Wen nearly tore divots in the road as heavily armored foreheads rammed through obstacles legs and bodies laden heavy with hiding Jinhai. Yet more tainted mankind raced through the streets slaughtering other Mankind and it would not be permitted. The first matter was silencing the screaming node disturbing the natural ley.

Wen would take up positions alongside any other city guards heading their way that they encountered. The Jinhai already worked with the imperial guard and were slowly set to tasks by police as well. Their silent consideration was frequently well received. While their resources were strained by this strange city of mankind they would not break. Now that the cognizance injector was attached to the Way Myrkul's Vein could pour its effort into maintaining concordance of its Jinhai.

The jinhai's sudden appearance at the location where they had just appeared sent alarms running all throughout the craft world, and Ilroraniel was among the rest of the council asking questions.

A ranger spoke up then "We are still not sure what it is. There was something trying to track us, and from the source of the signal we assumed it was from the warp."

"Demons then? No doubt some imperial fool created some brash piece of technology and then fell to corruption. Prepare the nightwings to engage, but let it be known their only task is to buy time for the Craft world to escape." Ilroraniel stated in a matter of fact tone. She herself then set off to the launch bays to take part of the fight. Others of her station may think it too risky to engage in battle, wasting a life of experience and purpose, but she could not sit idle. She had led her people here, they had followed her into the unknown, and trusted her to guide them safely. She would do everything it took to ensure they're faith was rewarded.

The signal gone away Jinhai had nothing to occupy them but the building of a Way station to store materials. Also for certain functions of astrometrics they'd been informed of by imperial guards this far from a reference point like the way gates on planets of Mankind. Inside the hexagonal container woven arches to the void of space were on each side as the Jinhai had no need to breathe. They set to creating a beacon with which to properly anchor a Way gate. Seven Jinhai now on the task as fighters were distantly prepared Jinhai write into being a platform is constructed the whriling nest of scintillating threads of psimass that lit colorfully into the psychic field. Others wove intricately moving parts to place in bonded orbit of the anchored center column to stabilize its rotation and provide awareness for psychometric stability. Another Jinhai carefully decorated a relief of the sigil of the Emperor of Man on the small open platform.

Black motes poured from a Jinhai's hand into the carefully woven psitech machine. A Jinhai donated to the machine that it could live though it would not be sapient. The beacon lit strongly a peal of singing light hidden within a carefully crafted position signal. It would be difficult to use the signal for astrometrics without a donation of motes from that continuum which danced throughout the Pharos. The psionic machine was meant to be paired to ones of like mind to hear the churning tongue describing the intersecting topology of both spaces. Just being near the station the sensitive could hear the heavy thrumming heart of motes singing in unison inside the Pharos.

As the way gate ceased to be the energetic wave of unbound motes poured into the Pharos tearing it apart with a discordant sad note. With nowhere to go the Jinhai disincorporated themselves energetically rather than let the motes taint the platform. The explosions of white flashes ignited the psimass weave and grey smoky ether evaporated in all directions.

"Damnation! There is more going on in this forsaken city!" A Guardsman shouted as he drove a chimera troop transport in the direction of the Wing City Gate. "Commissar come in! Our psyker has detectected a vast amount of energy in an area! I repeat buildings are going down! And a witch may be responsible! Your orders!" The guardsman spoke as he did his best to avoid the panicking people.

"Just one thing after another! Guardsman you have my permission to terminate the witch before more damage is caused. Lethal force is authorised! Now get to---What!? Chaos forces in the city! I want units on the move now!" Their commanding officer responded before the channel was terminated.

"You hear the Commisar! We get there and put a las-round in the witch! I want no screw ups! We use all we got to protect this damned city!"

The ship shuddered and shook, and Ean and the crew began to scatter about, some looking very worried. Ean groaned and rolled his eyes "One thing after another on this rock." Before vaulting up the steps to the captains chair and plopping himself into it.

Craig was just about to answer Plinth when the shaking started, and chose instead to begin escorting her along the halls to the medical bay. "I do not believe my people have an overbeing such as yours. Rather, what you are sensing may be our collective memories. Each individual member of my people hold within them the memories of all other individuals past and present. In this way we are as one."

Ean laid back in the captains chair and several console screens came up around him as he went over ship systems oversaw resource control. To Akio he said "Grab hold of something, son, This is gonna get rough."

The Cobalt Glaive then performed an emergency lift off, the wings releasing an electrical discharge that arced and scattered across the landing zone. In a rather rapid movement for her size, the Glaive lifted off the ground before proceeding a forward flight over the city.

As they passed over it, the destruction and wreckage from the battle in the business district, as well as further destruction resulting from the earth quakes became all too apparent.

"Damn" Ean said to himself. "I hate to say it, but Ms Plinth's cargo is gonna have to wait a bit. We need to do something to help these people."

He turned then to look at Akio. "We can't do anything about whats going down in the business district, but let's see if we can get to the center of these quakes and help the people there out. Emily?"

The Helmswoman nodded. "Sir, the quakes seem centered around the entrance to the city... they've... the Arch, the stone arch we saw coming in... It's collapsing. It's horrible down there sir."

"Yeah it is, and there are people in the middle of it who are gonna need help. Get us over the area now, prep the Imps for rescue and relief, and get Feidie up to speed. We may need Alexander on this one."

Ean then looked up and with a voice that carried across the bridge he called out "The Wings of Blue are open"

And the crew called back with "And so we fly!"

Patches of borrowed time

Plinth hurried as the plane began to shake and her legs dispersed into a cloud of diaphanous strings as the ship took off. A front of effort pushed the thin black bones of her feet upward as she willed herself forward across bouncing terrain. Like she floated atop a ball of transparent black silk Plinth was stable as she responded, "Something else has gone wrong! Myrkul's Vein had to turn away to Genesis to deal with a threat. Myrkul's nice he keeps all our memories safe for us. Well when I return away."

She smiles at the strange nonhuman. She sails smoothly forward while talking on that black fibrous air, "Only the bottom quarter isn't red-blooded human. Speaking of I think I could use your healer first even if we're going off somewhere again. I've got two more bullet wounds and a talon strike."

Face scrunches as pain comes from bullets that scrape a slight wounds open inside and she starts to wobble, "Jinhai are numb and I kinda am but... it's really starting to hurt. I think I've lost a lot of blood."

Once more from the breach

The Jinhai quietly serving in and under ean's clothes noted quietly in Ean's ear after the crew's shout, "Myrkul has enjoined the tear into the black storm. We gather forces there with which to protect the Living Emperor and this plane. We normally would not without His leave but a threat to Mankind is named. Ifrit Atundai. We understand the need to protect Mankind. We follow your will."

Why is the ship twitching?

Feidlimid busied himself with reading technical manuals of parts for the mech while idle self-scanning programs ran on it. He tended to the inside of Alexander's mind as much as the sparkling cleanliness of his quarters. There were interesting things coming out of Terra despite the constant winds of war pushing its people around. His kind floated in space so he almost didn't notice, unanchored to the floor as he was at present, that the ship began to shake. Small tentacles behind long arm spikes served as hands that stopped to examine the wildly quivering walls. An earthquake?

Feidlimid then nearly hit the deckplate as the ship rose into him tentacles hurriedly grasping the floor and tensing. He slithered out into a hallway on sharp leathery tentacles looking for someone to tell him what was going on.

It was immediately following the motion for Akio to follow Ean that he felt the ship shuddering beneath it. He noted right away that it was too sporadic a movement for the Cobalt Glaive to be taking off and judging from the expression of annoyance on the captain's face, so did he. As Ean whipped around and proceeded to the Captain's Chair, Akio sensed the issue out. Epicenter is at the Wing City Gate, casualties will be many by the time we get there...he didn't like the sound of that and began reading the issue further, deciding if it was worth even going down there to try and save them.

Casualties would be double if they didn't bring their aid...

"Grab hold of something, son. This is gonna get rough."

Akio smirked, despite the situation. "I could possibly be older than you," he stated as the ship took off in an unkempt fashion, one that would normally propel a standing individual with no anchor back a few feet, causing said person to lose his footing as well as some pride. Akio always had an anchor, though, and was left standing through it all. His connection to the Shadows never wavered.

"Sir, we should-" he started.

"We can't do anything about whats going down in the business district, but let's see if we can get to the center of these quakes and help the people there out."

Akio raised a brow at this one and spoke after his conversation with Emily had ceased, "My almanac is rubbing off on you already. You've got a good sense of clairvoyance yourself or a noble nature, Captain Ean."

And with that, they jettisoned off towards the Entrance Gate.

Wing City's mammoth Gateway system, and central arch were a magitech marvel, a calling card, a landmark, a historical relic given to the public. It was the purest, simplest symbol for the prosperity of the city imaginable, and as such it was heavily guarded. Abjurations, nanite technology to self-repair, sensors every ten cm to report on structural integrity, it was all considered a waste of Terra's governmental budget though.

"Who would ever be so foolish as to try to attack the gate?" They said.

"No one would be so moronic as to cut themselves, and a slew of Gods off from their planes." They said.

"Micheal, you're being paranoid." They said.

They'd thank him for the features he'd insisted on, and hopefully for the one he installed in secret....

SHOWTIME!

The second the great Gateway of Wing City cracked, all of Terra seemed to change. Time seemed to move a little slower for the average citizen, the sky roiled in rage, The once calm winds now whipped, and whirled, howling harshly in the form of a morbid gale. All the while dark, heavy clouds screamed through the sky at unnatural speeds, belching out tremendous thunder calls. Something had been brewing since the first cracks in the arch, and now, as the massive stone, and steels fell away, it erupted.

Without warning the sky let lose a singular bolt of massive, steel-blue lightning. The jagged electricity illuminated the entire blackened mass of clouds, painting the whole city in it's hue, before unleashing a deafening thunderclap. In the wake of this, for a singular, split moment, the hero known as Captain Runemold could be seen in the skies.

"Hope has arrived."

It was hard for Micheal to see the moment he materialized, time was racing hyper-fast for him, which had an adverse effect on human perceptions at first. Even if they were the one's who caused it, but once it cleared he drank the scene in instantly. His accelerated mind allowing him to assess, and move in a blink.

The Gate was in ruins, massive shards falling to Terra, blotting out entire streets, lanes, and even districts. Fires had begun to sprout up left, and right, people were trapped, crushed, buildings shifting, weakened from the recent earthquakes. Havoc reigned supreme. There was no time to deal with the instigators, a dragon-god-thing, a witch, some Imperial Troops, all were meaningless. Right now stemming the body count was the goal.
With another flash of steel blue, a massive chunk of reinforced Star Steel found itself suspended, mere inches above the hospital it was about to demolish, held aloft by Captain Runemold.

"ATTENTION WIN-AAARRGGHHH-WING CITY!" Rune's voice boomed over the sounds of destruction, and fear, magically altered to project to each person individually, no matter how many, and pull their focus. The only problem was his usually silky-smooth voice was heavily strained, and a hell of a lot less reassuring than usual. He was a little worried he might be projecting his strain, instead of calm.

"THIS I-GRRRAAAHHHH!" He couldn't help but scream, the weight of the debris was too much for him, even with his body augmentation spells. It was slowly, slowly crushing him. "THIS IS...IS CAPTAIN RUNEMOLD.." Panting and struggling really pissed him off, it dug into his hero vibe pretty harshly. "The W...Wing City A-Angels have arrived!"

The mass of metal eased down a little, closer to the roof of the hospital. There was no way Micheal could keep it up, or land it safely. While bodily augments, and rune implants were his specialty on paper, they weren't in truth. This was bad, dire, and setting a bad image. Every second he wasted with this one building, thousands could be dying.

There was no time. He pushed as hard as his enchanted body would allow, but the best he could do was shove the thing aside, letting it crash into the ground below. Still killing plenty of people just by probability. It wasn't good enough.

"Where the fuck is my back up, the dropship can't be more than a few minutes out...But I can't..I can't hold on long.." The thought died pretty quickly, his eyes flashing a ghostly blue as the machine on his back revved, and whirred into life, lightning sparking from it in all directions. No more talking, no more trying to be an emergency warning system.

His thinning lips creased into a grim smile.""Strike."

A well of lightning bolts flew forth from the machine, each massive, steely-blue jolt surged forward violently, colliding into falling debris, and obliterating them entirely. They jerked from side to side, dodging danger, intact buildings, and seemingly moving with intelligence. Micheal's intelligence.

"Now.." With a labored motion he let go of the mass of steel he held, before taking the shape of massive lightning bolt himself, shattering it.

The pure-silvery bolt that was Micheal rushed in countless directions at once, splitting down the slab of Star Steel again, and again, until in the blink of an eye it was mere dust.

When the Jinhai told him his shiny new psimech Maximus could easily sustain leaping from altitude to the target zone that awesome notion immediately went on his bucket list. A short talk with the pilot after they got deployed to the gate centered him over a decent landing zone as he waited for the pilot to give him the go-ahead to jump.

The pilot's voice that came over comms was nearly drowned out by Dwyn's grin, "Bombs away, Dwyn! You're over a dirt median! Say hello to the captain on your way down!"

Dwyn hit the button on the inside of his cockpit and the retaining field swallowed under ferroplasm and durasteel. The engineers weren't entirely clear on what the button started but the cockpit was both there and not there. Dematerialized into its own space Dwyn leaped the musclebound psi-mech out of the back of the dropship chainsaw in its gigantic hand. The faceless grey torso actually had several crimson reinforced eyes and sensors running from crotch to shoulder and saw the bolt leaping from debris to debris as Dwyn piloted Maxiumus to earth. He could feel the thing drifting side to side with some sort of reactionless thruster from behind the armor. This was the first field test already turning Maximus out to be a damned awesome beastie!

He could feel Maximus moving with its own intelligence faster than he could move the muscles himself. The legs applied braking force from the instant they touched grass. He only stuck his feet into the grass median up to the ankle. Maximus's tail compressed to its hind end and wagged the little flexing tail with grapnel inside the impact furrow.

Dwyn stood up straight and waved with Maximus' free hand and looked around. The woven tapestry proclaiming the WCA's emblem on his back bright and proud. The man and muscled beastie both neural grafted to the pilot core shared the executive thought of one and the powered reflexes of the other. While Dwyn in some respects knew what he was doing when informed instinct pulled an action from the man as his wide field of vision peered at a falling piece of debris. Training nearly dragged Dwyn forward toward injured Mankind before finding himself pounding across the divide to get underneath the debris astride a pedestrian vehicle. His mind finally caught up to see where the Wen's arcane sight mounted to the eyes with CVS nodes and saw the telltale breath of the living. This time when the building hit it was the building's back that broke. Dwyn fired up his chainsaw and hacked through the support to free the hollow structure to thump into the street. he could lift the other side gently out of the way.

#, as written by Rulke
Parades of people began to drop from the ships wearing the latest in technology. They flew with help of powerful jet packs with hours of fuel so even the worse of situations could be handled. They were trained in the most exceptional of skills, from medical knowledge verging on Doctorates, mechanical and architectural knowledge that allowed them to assess the stability of any structure they were within. Equipped with head torches, UV, Heart-rate sensors, Heat Signature among others. They were the WCA (Wing City Angels) formed to handle the worse of disasters that seemed to plague Wing City on a communal basis. Always there, recognised and adored.

Flying around they darted like bees picking up people and destroying unstable structures to prevent further damage or collapsing foundations crashing down. Veronica was one of them, she had been informed as had the others, let Captain Runemold handle the girl causing the destruction. In truth, the guy was an egotistical prick, but he was also genuine about wishing to help others. He may be a celebrity but he never endangered others.

The quake was now official ten on the Richter scale. It was impossible to land and not be harmed so swooping in and grabbing people before herding them into the waiting drop ships was the only option. Nonetheless, it was downright impossible, worse people had now seen who was causing this and though approaching cautiously, they were approaching the girl, "CAPTAIN, CIVILIANS ARE HEADING STRAIGHT FOR EPI-CENTRE, WHAT ARE YOUR ORDERS?" the others had noticed too and appeared to be waiting for Veronica to hear back on her communicator.

"What in the name of the Empeor...Seargeant, new signatures in the area...whatever that voice was it seems this city has its own civil force. Orders?" A guardsman spoke as the Chimera continued to drive. "We are almost at the EPI-Center, once we near it expect to bail the vehicle once the ground become unstable. We gun it for the witch and open fire."

"Really wish we had one of those Vindicate Assasins...Just one would have stopped this witch without having to send us..."

"Well when you wish for the Adeptus Astartes to drop in during an invasion. It usually is not answered. Regardless we do this and perhaps we got on the Commisars good side, more menial duty and less executions you know..."

"Roger that sir, we are almost there." The guardsman spoke as he slammed a power pack into his Las-gun along with everyone else. For a witch, just a few shots were needed.

In the air above the city, the cobalt glaive hovered above the devasatation caused by the earthquake.

Emily, normally highly professional, was wide eyed and stunned. "What a horrible nightmare, first an invasion from evil shadows, now an earthquake."

Ean had a different thought about it. "Emily, start scanning for anyone trapped beneath the rubble, and get Fiedy ready in case we need some heavy lifting, call the arsenal and prep for rescue scenario. I want field shelters, medi platforms, and excavators loaded and ready to drop at a moment's notice."

As he said this, he pulled his coat over his shoulders and clamped his hat on over his head. He turned to Akio "your in charge till I get back. I know your not familiar with the ship, but just tell people where to be and they'll know what to do. We'll do the tour when I get back."

Emily was less than thrilled about this decision. "Captain its a hell storm down there! Just what exactly is your plan?"

He turned and pointed down at his feet, and supposedly at the scene below. "This city lies landlocked on a continent with few to no fault lines. It does not just suddenly suffer an earthquake strong enough to shatter a moon. Something or someone is down there doing this, and I'm going to stop it before they and everyone else down there get killed."

And with that he turned and charged off to the drop bay.

The thing about using ancient, deep-rune magic to turn yourself into a bolt of endless lighting is that, well. You go fast. Really fast. Faster than the standard human nervous system could possibly handle. Fast enough even the most disciplined, and focused of minds struggle to hold back the affects of controlling a body screaming through the air at 220,000mph.

Fast enough that any distraction - "CAPTAIN! CIVILI-"

The crackle of Veronica's voice through his telepathic link to the WCA comms line shattered his intense focus. All at one the silver bolt vanished, leaving only Captain Runemold suspended in the air, doubled over in agony, and clutching at his sides. The force of the speed was catching up, and subjecting his body to an intense crushing sensation.

He could barely form a thought around the pain, and the burning in his lungs as they started to collapse.

For a split moment Micheal honestly thought he was going to die. Somewhere between the fading consciousness, lack of air, and sudden falling feeling as his Overland Flight spell wore off, he forget that just as he had warded the Gate...

...CCCRRRAAACCCKKKKKKK...

He had warded himself.

A massive bolt of pure, sizzling mana shot out from his chest, streaking through the sky like a reverse lightning strike. It ripped through layer, after layer of deep, black clouds until finally, with a deafening clap it broke in a brilliant explosion. The added force that his body couldn't handle had been converted into pure mana, far to much for a human body to safely contain, so another rune-ward had triggered a violent release, seeding the skyline with tiny blue crystal-like flakes.

Flashy display over, and gasps for breath subsided, the Captain shook the echoes of the pain off, and sighed internally, contacting Veronica.

"Let the Imperial Guard handle the Witch," He hoped she didn't have a snippy comment about him forgoing glory, he didn't have time for it, this was a crisis like no other. "I want you, and everyone else to focus SOLELY on evacuations. Get everyone out of here. Now." There was none of the usual charm, or levity in his voice, none of the pomp or play.

Sparring no more focus, he closed the telepathic connection with the WCA, and quickly set about restoring his flight; teleporting off towards the clouds his mana had seeped into. Between over-saturation with his own, personal connection to magic, this would be an easy task. He had more than a few weather-control spells under his belt, and just enough spare juice for a little Epic Polymorphing. With a few gestures, some booming deep chants, and a little spilled blood his body dissolved into the clouds.
The dark skies above Wing City swirled around, and around as if pushed on by some fierce wind. They gathered, and pushed at each other, some merging, some dropping, until in short order a titanic funnel-cloud, nearly the size of a city block, had formed. Immediately it whipped, and whirled faster, and faster, the pace always rising until it seemed to form some kind of suction, drawing more dark, angry clouds into it.

As more cloud-matter was sucked in, a shape began to form under the funnel. At first, just a blip of cloud, really, but as the seconds rolled by it grew. Nominally at first, but then in leaps, and bounds, until it became clear it was making a person, of course.

Easily twenty-five foot tall, the being of black cloud came to stand rather casually under the funnel, banishing it away with a flick of the wrist. He looked, more or less, like a human. Legs, torso, arms, head, complete with cloud-beard all present, but it was still obvious he was a Jinn. His voice boomed through the City, a sound like gravel, and thunder.

"You Witch, who seeks to meddle with nature, now face it! I, Hsaharaan, Jinn of The Northern Gale stand before you!" He paused for a moment, it seemed like the angry Jinn thing to do. Micheal honestly didn't expect this bluff to work at all, having come up with it on the spot, but you never knew. It's amazing the things a primordial force of magic can get somebody to do. Or somebody with enough power to try and fake it, and a damn good Polymorph spell for looks.

It also hopefully kept the Witch's attention distracted enough to buy the IG some time.

"I warn you but this once, Witch!" A fierce sound, like the very clouds roaring echoed for a moment, before a deluge of countless lightning bolts rained down. Carefully aimed in a massive circle, in an attempt to cut off as many civilian roads into the epicenter as possible. "Cease meddling in the affairs of those above you, mortal. Or my next volley strikes home.

Despite having no faith in his gambit, he did feel rather prepared to fight the Geo-Witch in this form.

"We are nearly there! Just...Oh frak! Bail now! Bail now!" The driver yelled as the section of street they were on had destabilised and began to sink thatning to bury them in rubble. The squad of eight, accompanied by a psyker bailed from their transport which slid down a slop and crashed into rubble before slowly being buried. "Keep a move on men! We are only a yard away from our target! Work hard and fast!" The seargent called out as the squad carefully but quickly traversed the unstable ground.

As they closed in on the location, the Psyker could feel the energy everywhere. "Close!....CLOSE!...we are near...This power will break the planet!...It must be stopped!..." The psyker rambled on as it could feel the danger this possessed. The guardsman now aware of the risks doubled on their efforts, Las-guns switched to full auto. They were now just a few feet away, they pray this would be quick.

Groaning, Tiff tried to speak, but found her body fighting even this simple act, "It hurts... it hurts..." she wailed, "I... I... can't... stop it... I'm sorry... if I hold it back... it will kill me..." coughing she drooled blood out, there was obvious danger her rib had pierced her chest, "Please... please... make it stop..." her eyes were full of tears, and her arms and muscles were covered in fleshy veins... suggesting she had tried to hold back magical energy earlier... In fact, she appeared rather mutated in sense her arm muscles and leg muscles were too big for her body type.

The pain evident on her face, she tried to speak again but once dripped blood from her mouth, "Hel..." she could not finish that word...
