The Multiverse

Reflection Pool

115.75 INK

a part of The Multiverse, by Remæus.

The room you have just entered appears to be nothing more than a giant circular room with a deep dark pool of water within the center of the room that gaps 15 feet across and what appears to have no bottom. Sitting just at the other end of the pool is a desk and a chair with several book cases and chests that all appear to be lined up. Upon closer inspection of the desk one will find a few notes jotted down about the various places that the master thief David Trapspringer has been to. Behind the desk is a much older looking door and above it sits what appears to be a mural of a large black dragon created from gems and shards of glass along with a few coins.

Marcus holds sovereignty over Reflection Pool, giving them the ability to make limited changes.

Within the massive room sitting in the pool of murky warm water was David who appeared all to pleased with himself as he had his arms propped up behind him as to keep his head above the water. He was expecting to meet with someone and he wanted time to relax before one of his best arrived.

The clicking of heels was heard as a lone woman descended down the steps, holding a large amulet in her hand. Her swagger was well formed and practiced, the sway of her hips perfectly timed and the air around her brimmed with confidence. She would stop infront of the pool and sat at it's edge, watching the man "You called for me?"

"Of course." David spoke only to remain in the water, his form almost flawless but he did not move without a reason. "It seems like plans are changing and that I will require you to steal something by force if you have to. A girl has a tablet from the crystal tower." David began to smirk only to swim over to Jeanella and pull himself up slightly revealing half of his midsection to the bare air within his office. "You can do that am I right?"

"Depends on the girl...is she pretty? Does she have nice breasts? If the answer is yes then you have nothing to fear" She said with a smirk and a chuckle "Ill have a reason to wear my newly aquired regal gown" She nodded a little and leaned back "What is my payment for this mission?"

"If the girl is pretty I am sure you will not care as she is a small girl." David began to smile devilishly. "I could care less what happens to her so long as the authorities do not trace your actions back to me. And any form of payment will be if that tablet or stone she carries from the crystal tower is worth it."

"Do you know anything about her?" She said and tilted her head a little and pulled her hair back and tied it into a ponytail "What is this Tablet and this Crystal?"

"I know she is sleeping up in the tavern above and I know she will not have much of a place to go as she has no money." David spoke only to smirk a little as he waved his hand a little. "The tablet is supposed to control the element of water according to Melthandon and it came from the crystal tower in the middle of that lake

David continued to smile devilishly only to ponder this very same thing. "No but I have a question for you. If you want to torment a man sexually how would you go about it?" David had plans for Sebastian as he was still not done tormenting the poor man but maybe a woman's perspective on this very question might bring some insight. After all she seemed like a terrible person to begin with when he first brought her under into the guild.

"Go for his stomach. The easiest way to get into a man's heart. You cook for him, lull him into a false sense of security then when he tried to take you to his bedchambers, you play with him, tease him and toy with him...when he is about to put himself inside you, then you cut his neck and...erm...steal what hes got" She said with a confident nod

"How.... pleasant." David began to think on this but could possible come up with a far more interesting way to torment the poor man. "I ask that question as one of our guild members actually living a double life as one of us. I am still trying to figure out how no one knew but I took care of the problem."

"Sebastian, you know him as the master mason and wizard who actually took part in building this very hall we are in." David began to speak about the man with a smile only to shake his head. "Problem is I first found out that he was trying to get a larger cut on the deals he and I had been making. Worst is at the same time we started our deals he joined and somehow became my trusty captain, like yourself, and has been working on the inside up until now." David just began to think about the night when he had all that fun and a wicked grin crept across his face. "Needless to say it has been taken care of but we need him alive so I have been paying him visits to collect on dues he owes without a single bit of remorse."

"I see....how exactly did you find out this information Guild Master? Was it trial and error, or did you just find a loose end?" She asked, tapping her chin in curiousity

"No I came to take a map from Sebastians room and he simply squealed on himself." David was not at all lieing about this as he looked at Jeanella as it was how it had happened. "I simply walked in demanded that he show me the documents to the new layout of a fortress he was going over and he blabbed on himself and showed me."

"Ahh...very interesting. May I ask you a personal question sir?" She asked him and leaned back slowly "Why did you make a Pool your office? Sounds like a strange place for someone like you to swim around to give orders...not like one of you at all. Something doesnt add up"

"I keep this giant pool of water in here as it is a cistern, like the one in the main room." David responded only to tilt his head. "And how is that a personal question?"

"Because something just doesnt add up...I cant place my finger on it yet. I dont mean to pry, I honestly wouldnt care even if you were a merman as long as you kept my pockets lined and the goods coming in" She said with a shrug

David had the strangest look on his face when she said that she would not care if he was a merman. "Jeanella what is wrong with you?" David asked in a rather truthful fashion. The thief leader simply pulled himself out of the water and to the possible surprise of his captain that was present he was not wearing anything at all. David looked perfect in every aspect all except for his right eye which always had a patch over it. "I have legs woman think. When have you seen me with a tail?" He asked as he went over to one of the wardrobes that sat by his desk only to pull out a pair of pants and throw them on.

She shrugged again and stood as well "Just a hunch..." She said with a sigh and looked into the water absentmindedly "So...nothing else you know about this woman?"

"Nothing really besides her name being Ebony and that someone was able to teleport her inside and out of the tower. What is even more bizarre is how she was not able to explain how she got back to shore from the tower as the water surrounding that small patch of land is acid." David began to put on a shirt and then his vest just to straighten his outfit out a little. "Any other questions?"

"No..." She said and headed back up the stairs before turning one last look at him "For my payment, here is an offer to consider. I am in the field, water is known as the greater Healer and the greater destroyer. If you deem it fit, give me the tablet as my reward" She said and headed up the stairs for the Tavern

Joseph sat staring into the water. Since he was a child he would come down to the reflection pool to forget. It helped him forget the past, forget the murders he committed, the wrongs he done and would leave him as a clean slate. Skills he honed were natural so the pool didn't erase ability. Plus he'd forget months back not the events of the past week or so. Yet in his mind he was perfectly normal sitting watching the drops from the craggy ceiling fall into the pool leaving rings that would find the waters edge and vanish. It was required from the leader that Joseph came to reflect after each mission and at least once a week. "It's good for you, Joseph." David would always say. To Joseph it felt good. He never would of guessed that his memory was being stripped from him. Well, even if he figured it out someday, why were his only family he'd known subjecting him to this strange pool. What memories were they trying to erase and why? What important information needed to be covered up?

Suddenly he was woke from his daydreams of nothingness. Someone came through the door. Joseph looked up and said, "Is it time already? I would like a little longer. Well, I suppose I'd be in here all year if I choose." He stood up dusting himself off and picked up his hood and cloak from the rocky floor. "What's the assignment?"

As the door opened out from the black market outside within the Halls a rather lean man wearing a brown tunic and leggings stepped in only to look up at his guest. To the Master Thief the face was all to familiar and a faint smile crept its way onto David's features. Slowly and quietly the dark haired man closed the door behind him and took up the seat at his desk only to look over a few bits of paper he had carried in with him from the undermarket within the Obsidian Halls.

"Joseph." David spoke aloud from behind his work. The Spy lord simply glanced up slightly at the young man who seemed all to eager to do a job. "Good work however was it all that necessary to kill that poor merchant. Surely you could have just bullied the poor sod and taken his money." David lowered his papers and kept watch of the young man in hopes to goad a reaction of some kind. The old Assassin waited patiently for his answer before he would give anything else to the young man in question.

"When did you start caring for people's lives?" Joseph replied with a confused look. "I did not want to do it. But he gave me no choice. He knew my identity I don't know how and he was the only person alive that knew our secrects. How he knew so much I cannot say." Again the flood of strange images came back to haunt his head and along with them came pain pounding and throbbing. The pool!!! He sat back down near the pool and stared into it with his hands holding his temples as if forcing his head to look into the waters. "Why? Why when I question things,? Joseph asked, "Do these images come with such pain?"
