Setting
Funded by the Dracul's and maintained by the Vankoryth Detente, Verinotte Hollow is a safe haven for vampires & other creatures of night who wish to exist civilized without Human pressures. Tauvyr Tavern is to the South. Verinotte Hall towers over the northwest part of the square, with wrap-around staircase leading up to it. The Mint and Sage, Verinotte Hollow's premiere bed and breakfast, is also accessible from here.
Off a ways to the north, but still in viewing distance, is a large shrine. It has one spire that seems to stretch forever into the dark clouds. There are also many jack-o-lanterns that line the paths, a whimsical carry-over from the favored holiday of the town. Where there aren't buildings surrounding the square, there are cherry blossom trees. Verinotte Hollow prides itself on it's picturesque qualities above all else.
And oh, she sighed.
"This is a joke, right? A fucking joke? I can't get a break this week? You serious?" She stood up from the fountain, adjusting her bodice with her thumb. "So who're you? Listen, I never dated angels, so I don't think I got beef with you. So how about we quit the pretty theatrics, alright? Just go on your way." She shooed him away with her hands, fluttering them. "Go on! Tauvyr is that way! Have yourself a drink-"
Her hands ignited in blue flame, and she leaped for the angel.
"-and GET SMASHED!"
"Confirmed."
In the blink of an eye a barrier of black light was erected between Fei and the Fallen. Behind the witch upon the heads of the dragons statues stood and sat several more beings that looked exactly like the one she had attacked.
She could hear the others behind her, as their feathers gently swayed in the magical pulse that she expelled from her center, which pushed a wind out with it.
"Yeah, okay, so what's this, huh? I get the attention of some council or somethin'? This is so much bullshit..."
The one that she had attacked did the same, launching a pincer attack.
"Do you think we should've told her why?" One of the Fallen who abstained in their attack suggested.
"Do you really think it will be that easy?" Asked the other.
Everything until this point in time was play.
This was real.
The fire around Fei grew into a burning tower, the energy so free, so powerful, it fluttered her clothes and hair, and let out another pulse toward the angels.
"Not today."
"Are those what I think they are?" His eyes narrowed in suspicion. They looked a lot like Angels, but he always thought they were a myth; not because it was hard to believe, but because he had never seen one for himself. Hell if people as strong as himself could exist, why couldn't Angels exist as well?
"All of you to take down one girl? That doesn't seem very fair to me." He made sure his statement was loud enough for everyone to hear. "Now I'd hate to get involved with whatever you've got going on here, so I suggest you drop it." He hoped that his words were taken to heart, but something told him that they weren't a diplomatic bunch.
While they had not predicted Samaritans, they weren't necessarily unprepared. As Fei's second pulse fluttered their wings the goup of Fallen stood stoically as they re-assessed the situation. There were ten of them in total, their numbers a redundancy in order to deal with situations just like this. The target was clear, their objective known only to them. Clearly they were hostile, and they surely weren't about to back down.
The singled out Fallen who had been the initiator spoke quickly and curtly.
"Seven, Contain. Three, proceed."
There was a communal nod from the others as they stretched their wings. The initator whipped his left arm to his side, and instantly a blade of what looked like dark magic enveloped his arm. Five of the others did the same, while the other four shot into the sky.
Three of the swordsman lunged through the air at David, the other two that stood on the fountain moved to attack Fei. The initiator also attacked from her Flank, wings spread sharply behind him.
She didn't have much time to warn them. The Fallen were upon her, and she could only just cloak herself and leave behind an illusion of a clone as she sprinted off towards the gates.
Get them away from Verinotte, get away, can't put people in danger. Fucking dammit! Who are these losers!?
"I'm over here!" she screamed as she scurried away from the scene, waving her hands at the angels. She stuck her tongue out and blew a raspberry at them. "Dumbass pansyflappers!"
"Slow down."
The air in front of her and David shimmered, and should the Fallen swoop into it, they would find their momentum all but halted, and their movements sluggish.
David eyed the girl as she attempted to run away from the battle. He couldn't risk letting the her get away so these things could hunt her down, it would defeat the purpose of getting involved in the first place. Despite his desire to go after her, he didn't want to leave his new companion either. There was only one rational option.
"Go after the girl while I deal with these guys." he said to Aldarine.
Several were aimed primarily for David, as he seemed to pose the biggest threat to the completion of their objective, but none escaped from the sights of this barrage. Not Aldarine, nor Fei once she revealed herself.
And while the airborne fallen launched their attack, the swordsmen on the ground recovered their focus and moved to re-engage their respective targets.
Fei, meanwhile, had run off out of Verinotte, her speed incredible. A faint trail of light followed her, then faded gradually. It was purposeful, completely so.
He took a sharp turn south. It was time for a drink at the Tavern which served him best.
"Got any more eh these?"
