A small timber wolf who tends to wander and hide from others. He stands at about half the size of other wolves, making him a target for larger wolves. His fur is black on his back and top of his head, while it turns white on the underside. During spring, summer, and fall, Shadow will have a full red coat with the differences being in the lightness of his fur. His eyes are a very deep blue.

Personality
Shadow is named that because he is shy, and tends to hide in the shadows to avoid betas. In general, the only wolves of power that Shadow has ever shown himself willingly to is alpha's. Due to his shy nature, Shadow is not inclided to fight. He usually deals with conflicts by running off as soon as he is threatened to go hunting. Surprisingly, he is actualy a very good hunter.

Shadow was born into a pack that was feared for its big fighting wolves and fearsome hunters. Shadow's small size and shy personality made it easy for pups, a year his younger, to push him around with ease. After he began to be able to hunt, he went on his own, hiding from his once pack. He wanders looking for a pack to call his own for many weeks before he found this pack. Now he shyly stays with pack who treats him so kindly.

Shadow's Story

She sees shadow walking towards her in submission. He tells her his tragic story and wishes to join her. "Hello newcomer shadow. I am very sad to hear what you have gone through, but happy that you came to me. Here you don't need to be shy. There is no one here to judge you." She bows to him to show that they are equal, in hope that he will stay.
"I would be happy to stay." Spoke Shadow with a tremble in his voice. He still quivered, but showed that he felt at least a little bit safer by flattening his back slightly and lifting his tail about 2 centimeters. Compared to the alpha who had accepted him into this new pack, he was less that half her size. 'She must think that I am a pup.' Shadow thought to himself. "Where is the living place?" Shadow asked with what minor amount of courage he could stir up.
Leonn tried to speak with a kinder voice to not make shadow less insecure. She picked her words wisely "There is yet no bigger place with a roof over us to be found. I sleep here in case any visitor should come during the night. But since it is only us, we will surely fit in the subordinates cave." Leonn turned her head towards the cave where the subordinates take care of the puppies, the pregnant and the sick. It looks good enough until they find something better. ' If the pack gets bigger we need to find a bigger place!' She thought anxiously.
Pip nodded and walked off quietly to find the one she had called Shadow. Looking from side to side she found a black wolf and walked over to him timidly. "I was told to come help you? I'm not quite sure how though, just tell me what to do and I will follow." She had no problem being the submissive one, Pip would take as many orders as she had to in order to not get left behind. "I know I'm small, but I'm very fast and can think quickly."
As soon as Shadow heard another wolf talk, he shot to the other side of the room without a moments hesitation. He started to speak queitly from behind the rock that he had hid behind. "Umm, who are you and why are you here?" Shadow showed just how scared he was of this new wolf with his tail and back being down.
The place where he had been sleeping was a small, nested area. The nest had been made of torn grass, branches, and leaves set in an oval. It had a definite location indented where Shadow had been sleeping.

Leonn walks over to the two wolves while Seffi gets prepared. "Shadow. There is no reason to be afraid. Pip is apart of the pack and little Seffi over there is new too, i'm her adoptive mother from now on." She said too make both wolves calm down. ' They must have had a horrible past if they are so afraid. What if they can't hunt the big animals and we will have to live on rodents until someone else comes' She though. She hopes that they will learn to face their fears soon.
"Ooookay." By the sound in Shadow's voice, he was obviously still on edge. This new wolf, that the alpha called Pip, was by no means scary. She just caught Shadow off guard, and he was still recovering from the shock. "Was there something you needed me to do?" Shadow said with a steadier voice, while coming out from the rock he had hid behind. Shadow's stance was not that of any threat, his back was arched down and his tail hung quite low.
The energy that Seffi had shown had made Shadow even more nervous. However, once Seffi had lain on her back, Shadow calmed down. He started to stand a slight bit taller knowing that the energy Seffi showed was playful and not violent. "Hello, I am Shadow." He spoke somewhat softly. The one thing that made him not fear Seffi was her puppy innocence. She was not yet corrupted by bigger wolves who sought only fights and power, which severely lowered her threat level in Shadow's mind.
Seffi looked at Shadow and immediately liked him. He was quiet and outspoken but friendly and approachable.
Trying to communicate her like of him she ran up and under his legs and out again running back to her adoptive mother and standing just under her front paws.
She - even now - had the innocence of a newborn pup despite being through such harshness she was able to trust and love so openly.

Shadow was about twice Seffi's height. He obviously more calm with her around, as his chest rose high enough for her to run under it. Shadow's tail, however, was still hanging low as it always did. For once in his 3 years of life, Shadow felt a short moment of safety and security. The alpha was nice to him, the puppy was still innocent, and there was another runt like him. This pack of outcasts seemed to seemed to protect him from the horrors of all the other packs. Now his last fleeting thoughts of going back to being a lone wolf had disappeared, with no trace left behind.
Leonn just stared as pip stood there while seffi and shadow were getting to know each other. ' Pip should have a friend that he can trust' she thought to herself. "Okay, enough with the playing. We really need food and a place to sleep. Me and Seffi will go get food while Shadow and Pip go prepare the subordinates cave for sleeping." She said in hope that they would get to know each other better. They seemed to have similar personalities. 'What am i doing? I can't get to friendly with them. What if i lose them to.' She lifted her head even more to make herself clear. And went towards the hunting grounds expecting Seffi to follow. ' I hope they don't think i am to bumptious'
The setting changes from Winter willows to Subordinates cave
Shadow bent his head down and went back to his normal pose. 'Prepare the subordinate cave. What do I need to do for that?' He asked himself. "Hey, pip right? Do you know what we need to do to prepare the caves?" Shadow was walking to said caves hoping that Pip knew how to set up sleeping quarters. Shadow cared not about sleeping on cave floors, but many other wolves did care. Shadow was using some glowing mushrooms that he found was safe to have to light up the place. The mushrooms light was dim, but it offered enough light for the two wolves to see the walls.
"Ok." Shadow said to Pip. He now went about spreading the leaves and branches, almost making a weave out of them. In between when Pip got the sticks and Shadow waited; he started to set up more of the glowing mushrooms. It was nearly two hours before the duo was done. Shadow then turned over to look at Pip. "You hungry, I am going to go and hunt for a bit. Do you want me to get something for you?" By this time, Shadow was more than comfortable around Pip. Though he still stood with his back low and his tail lower; he didn't shake or shiver, and his voice was steady.
The setting changes from Subordinates cave to Hunting grounds
After hearing that he only needed to hunt for himself, Shadow went off the the Hunting Grounds.
In the world of hunting, Shadow had one advantage against predators and prey, excluding speed. This advantage was that his natural camouflage was aided by his small size. In tall grasses during spring through fall, he was below the grass looking like dirt. When there was snow on the ground, Shadow was even harder to see.
As Shadow walked through the snow with his muzzle up to use as guidance, he came across a small deer. It was standing looking around, before eating some branches off of a smaller bush. It lifted its head once more to be surprise by a small, white fur ball leaping onto the dear's neck. After about two minutes of being swung around, Shadow finally was able to get a good grip on the dear's neck and killed it within one bite, puncturing both major blood veins and the esophagus. Around 15 seconds after the bite, the dear was on the ground dead. Now, Shadow let out a howl that stated that he would need help dragging his kill. Laying at the leg of the dear, Shadow did what he always did when he killed big prey; he began to eat the meat and flesh off of the leg below the knee.

Noting the new and different wolf near him, Shadow grabbed the bone of the section of leg that he had been gnawing on. He quickly hid behind the dead deer. After a few moments of the other wolf just sitting there, Shadow dropped his bone in the snow and peeked up over the deer. "Who..Who are you?" Shadow asked with his head now hanging low and nothing else of his tiny body showing. "Why are you..you here?"
Shadow hearing Leonn speak, hid even farther back behind the deer. He nodded when she said the word friend and when she spoke of the eating order. Though he still held onto the bone that he had been chewing on. 'Got to remember that I am in a pack now.' Shadow thought. Back when he was a lone wolf, he would only kill anything bigger than a rabbit when he was going to stay for a while. Now, however, he had to obey by rules of eating. This was the only thing so far that he had had problems with so Shadow felt that this pack may be where he wants to stay. "Hello, I.. I am Sha.. Shadow." Said Shadow to the new wolf. She was the size of a normal wolf, thus Shadow was uncomfortable whether or not she was a friend.
Leonn was surprised to se the newcomer leave in such a hurry and coming back frightened. " If there's a hunter around, we need to get back home quickly. Shadow, you and Elliot take the deer back and i go fetch Seffi and we bring mushrooms." She looked at them to se if they understood and ran away towards where Seffi and the mushrooms were. " Seffi. There'll be no time for beaver hunting right now. There is a hunter on his way and we need to get all the mushrooms we can pick and go home." After that, she picked mouthful of mushrooms, careful not to bite in them and waited for Seffi to finish.
Hearing the words "hunter" and "take the deer back" Shadow knew what he had to do. By the time that Leonn was running off, Shadow began to push at the back of the deer. His small stature did not help him at all with moving larger animals. Shadow then tries to tug on the leg of the deer hoping that its massive body (compaired to Shadow) will budge from the forces of Shadow.

Elliott then gave Shadow support, pulling up the deer. " Hello, I am Elliott." Replied Elliott while pulling the deer. " I don't even know where I came from." The deer slipped out of Elliott's grasp. It tumbled sideways pulling Shadow down a snow hill. " Shadow!" Screamed Elliott. Elliott ripped 2 long peices of bark of an oak tree and slid down the hill using the bark as support. Shadow was safe, and so was the deer. " I'm very sorry, I am kinda weak." The 2 male wolves were ok. They headed on.

All the way back to the cave, Shadow pushed as hard as his tiny, almost puppy sized, body could. This Elliot was like all the other normal sized wolves, at least twice the size of Shadow. However, Shadow was surprisingly strong for his size, and almost 2/3 of Elliot's strength. The small, shy wolf could be described as a small and fluffy ball of muscle. While Shadow and Elliot were dragging the deer back to the cave, this became quite evident. Now back that he was back in the cave, Shadow traveled to the deeper sleeping quarters. He then fell in one of the sleeping areas that he had helped to build. Now on his side sleeping with his fur held down by the remaining snow, his raw muscle showed through his thick winter coat.
