Daren O'Conner

0 · 569 views · located in Anywhere but the Lab

a character in “The Outside”, as played by Auricambrflaym

Description

~Name:Daren
~Age:25
~Gender:Male
~Skills:Daren knows everything humanly possible about herbal medicines, and is learning more about the modern stuff. So far, he prefers the former, mostly because he learned it first. He's also a natural-born minor Empath--this is to say he knows how to make people feel better emotionally. He is fluent in Italian and Japanese as well as English, and is currently working on learning Gaelic(I will avoid posting in other languages, just so ya'll know XD)
~Description: Daren has deep auburn hair, contrasting beautifully with his sapphire eyes. Standing at around 6 foot, he's probably taller than any of the other characters so far XD. When not in his uniform, one would most likely see him in an old t-shirt and too-long jeans with the cuffs ripping. Weighs around 195 lb
~Personality:Calm and friendly, and extremely intelligent, it's hard not to want to tell this sweet young man everything. He hates seeing people in any kind of pain, and does what he can to help when he can. This usually means that he'll listen to people talk for hours until they find an answer to their own problem. This is why he took a job as an EMT; to help both the person hurt, and the frightened worried relatives.
~Fears:Spiders. He. Hates. Spiders.
~History: Born in a small town, there wasn't much going on in his childhood He broke his arm a few times, but that was pretty much it. Parents died his senior year of high school, and his little sister didn't speak to him much after that. A few years later, he gets a call from the police; his sister, neice, and nephews were all murdered. That's probably where his want to help others came from; he feels responsible for their deaths, primarily his sister's. He began learning everything he could about medicine, getting his job as an EMT.

So begins...

Commanding Guard

His hand kept a firm grip on the girl, feeling barely any resistance to her digging her heels in the floor to try and stop him. She was obviously weak and still trying to resist? He almost sighed, why didn’t they just come nicely? It was always more work than needed to be done when they resisted so much. Then sharp pain sprouted from his shoulder and raked down his arm. Blood began to well up in five straight lines. He caught the girls hand and twisted her wrist tightly, almost to the point of breaking it. His jaw was clenched from the fire that was going through his arm, but he didn’t cry out. No, he was too used to pain to cry out as something as simple as feeling that a dagger was sliced across your skin. He noticed the girl’s nails, claws rather, as they sheathed themselves and he chuckled.

He paused as a woman came up to him. Blonde curls, slender figure and oddly, deep red eyes. That through up the first red flag for him. Mutants normally got the eye colors that were uncommon ad unusual for normal, red being one of them. "Excuse me, these two are my patients...Just what are you intending to do with them?" He took a glance down at the girl he had collected. Then back up at the woman, but someone else caught his eye and he almost cussed outright. Caine was there; he had found out and was going to take the mutants first. Then he laughed and looked down at the woman in front of him. ”You and I both know that they aren’t true patients Camelion. Tell Caine to leave my Lady’s mutants alone got that?”

He got all but one step before another showed up. "Come on kid, your parents are here to take you home. Where it's safe." He looked the boy over; he was small, thin and strangely looked like the one Camelion was impersonating, and the face features seemed to add more to his assumptions. ”I think you have the wrong child. This one is not a patient.” He held up her wrists, expertly keeping her bloodstained nails out of view, and showing the employee of the hospital that she didn’t have the necessary bracelet designated to patients. ”Don’t worry she is in good hands. Hopefully she won’t end up back in here.” He smiled to the boy and walked out through the sliding doors with Dusk, hoping that his other guards had gotten others and this was all they were going to take to Carmine.

The coloured signs made the childrens' ward exceedingly easy to find, and Jarek grinned. Still unseen, he slipped through the double doors after a nurse swept through, the thick smell of antiseptic, hospital food and illness filling his nose. So... two brothers, one older than the other. It didn't take him too long to track both boys down. Still invisible, he crept into their room and watched the two children. There was no pull of his heartstrings or twinge of sympathy as he searched the supply cupboards - luckily left open in the ruckus - at the end of the room. Although Jarek wasn't a user and never had been, he had a broad knowledge of drugs. The man smiled a thin-lipped smile to find a drawer full of shots of various sedatives. Enough to knock an adult man out for definite! That'd work well for these two boys.

Two syringes seemed to disappear as he picked them up. Tapping the bubbles out carefully, he headed over to inject the older boy in the neck. His hands were cool and a little calloused as he found the correct place to inject. He prepared the needle and went to quickly plunge it into the boy's neck, hopefully before he woke up.

-Sergei-

In a less crowded ward of the hospital, a slim man sat up on a bed, attended to by a nurse who washed and cleaned his inner arm. He peered, curious, as she removed thick, stinking gloop from the deep wound, tutting as she did so. The man's fingers twitched sporadically as she accidentally prodded an exposed tendon a few times whilst a soothing lotion was rubbed in. He was glad she'd asked no questions. The drug he took that did this to his arm hadn't been made illegal yet, but he was pretty sure the government wouldn't like to hear of it. He watched the white bandages wrap around his poor, destroyed inner elbow and sighed.

"Thank you very much, nurse. Sorry you had to look after my nasty, nearly-rotten arm, hah," he said with a charismatic smile.

The nurse raised her eyebrows and made a zipping motion over her lips. She'd been bribed significantly by the strange little man, and although everything told her that she should tell, that man was too sweet to her (not to mention all that money he had given her. That helped). She helped him down from the bed and waved him off. With a sweet smile over his shoulder, Sergei headed towards the exit. His rotting arm hurt terribly, sweat beading on his forehead from the pain. He put the hand in his pocket carefully as he strode down the sterile corridors, boots click-click-clicking.

Slipping through a door, he saw a... what could only be described by Sergei as a situation going on. An old fellow had fired a gun at a girl with a missing arm, people all around, people grabbing other people, people arguing... Curious, he watched them, wondering what was happening. He head gunfire from down a corridor. This was strange, very strange. Something governmental? Sergei wasn't fond of the government after they'd tried to grab him and execute him a few times in the past. Folding his arms, he stood and watched the strange little situation unfold.

Commanding Guard

He barely gave the girl a glance as he half dragged her outside. "Just let me go" The naive girl tried struggling against him. He laughed as she let out a scream. By her movements he could tell her side was wounded. "Please" He smirked at the whimpered plea. ”You’re not going anywhere. You’re our property now, I can’t just let you go.” He walked over to the guards that had stayed outside the hospital, making sure no one found the hounds by accident.

He bound the girl’s hands, and handed her over to the guard. ”She’s wounded, but still resistant. Sedate her if you have to.” He gave a ruthless smile to her and turned to head back into the hospital, while the guard that now held her, held her bonds firmly, making sure she wasn’t about to get away easily.

Amp/Blast

They felt Dusk’s skirt leave their grasp and let out a small whine in response. They were being left alone again. They didn’t want to be alone, especially since they were almost unconscious. They heard voices, a man’s voice as Dusk was taken away, then more as people seemed to be arguing. He instinctively flinched, when people argued, someone got hurt, and it was more likely going to be him. Then he heard others coming into his room and he forced his eyes open. There was a man there, who seemed to be fending off another. He was confused as this other was first a woman, then a man. Whoever it was, they had red eyes and he instinctively coiled up. He pulled back against the wall in him normal, feeble attempt to get away from the man.

Amp/Blast

They were scared, plain and simple. The men were fighting each other, both were wounded and neither Amp nor Blast wanted to know who was going to be the winner of this little battle. He flinched as the red haired man was hit and went down. The one, who had won, stalked towards him. Amp and Blast both pulled farther into the corner they had lodged themselves into, but the man still picked them up without difficulty. Both of them were slightly confused as they saw the winner shift and then he looked like the red haired one. Amp was panicking, trying to kick or hit the man, and possibly wiggle out o the man’s grip. But their muscles were weak and he was still tired. Blast knew that through brute strength they weren’t going to win. He screamed, the sound ringing in the man’s ears, and he hoped it would cause the man to at least loosen his grip so they could pull themselves free.

Commanding Guard: Eriyk

He walked back inside the hospital and it seemed all hell was breaking loose. There seemed to be gun shots from somewhere in the building, there were screams filling the hallways, and it seemed that Caine was using a devise on one of the mutants. He frowned; he knew he wasn’t going to get as many as he wanted. He would have to go raid the Institution and get them back. He paused as he saw what seemed to be a shadow moving along the wall, trying to avoid the people. He smiled, he knew what shadow travel looked like, very few could notice the small shifts in the shadows but he had spent enough time around the type to notice the ability. He watched the shadow move, he could vaguely make out two forms inside, and he smiled. He paused where he was, watching the direction of the shadow then fallowed it.

Maya

Maya was glad it was Daren, but thought he was an idiot for going off on his own like that. He should have found her and at least told her. She glanced about before answering, there were a few people standing around. People that just screamed 'bad news' to Maya. She would have to be careful with how she answered...

" Maith go leor, beidh mĂ© a fhĂĄil ar sĂ©, cĂ© is mo athrĂș ar tĂ Ă© a chrĂochnĂș. Raibh mĂ© in ann a dhĂ©anamh is dĂłcha Ă©
(Okay, I'll get on it, though my shift's about to finish. I could probably make it.)", she replied, speaking in Gaelic, in case anyone was listening in. She had flicked through Daren's file when she had a spare moment, before all this happened, and had noticed that he was of Irish decent as she was, though wasn't brought up in Ireland. She figured he would have at least some understanding of the language though. Most kids from Irish families did, even if they weren't born there. Maya was lucky, she had been brought up with both languages.
"Fanacht a chur dĂreach, agus a bheith cĂșramach. Beidh mĂ© ann chomh luath agus is fĂ©idir liom.
(Just stay put, and be careful. I'll be there as soon as I can.)", she continued, before hanging up, confident that no one had overheard. Gaelic wasn't exactly a common language, or at least not one that many people understood.

Putting her phone back in her pocket, she went back to her office to get changed out of her work clothes. Changing into a pair of worn jeans and a dark blue T-shirt (which admittadly was slightly too big, not that she cared.), she swapped her heels for a pair of sneakers and left. Some people she passed were curious about why she was dressed like that, but she ignored it. If she was asked, she would just say she had taken up jogging or something. That was believable, she thought.

Maya

Maya got to her car, unlocked it and got in. Before turning the ignition though, she leaned back against the seat, enjoying the first five seconds that she had to herself since this morning.
She couldn't afford to enjoy it for long though, she had to find Daren.
Shifting into gear, she left the hospital, then took a confusing route out of the city, in case she was being tailed.

She soon spotted Daren's car, and pulled up behind it, taking her phone out when she had braked.

Okay, I'm here. Be with you soon., she typed, then hit send.
On the outside she was calm, still professional despite the circumstances. That wasn't how she was feeling though. To be honest, Maya was panicking.

"Daren, you okay?", she asked when she caught sight of him and ran up. Damn she was glad she had changed into her sneakers, she would never be able to run in heels...

Nudge

Nudge was feeling more and more useless by the second. Not only could he not stop the white-coats hurting Faith, he couldn't even help her feel better...or could he? It was dangerous though, and could kill him in this state, but he could take some of her pain. It would mean he was in more pain though. Not matter, he decided, and wormed his way into Faith's mind, lifting some of the agony from her. As soon as he did so, his own body began to spasm, though he hoped that Faith was feeling a little bit better. That was the only thing that mattered to Nudge, even as he thrashed on the table, his mouth wide open in silent screams.

Maya

"Hey don't worry 'bout me. I can get in and out of places easy enough.", Maya reassured Daren, an almost mischievous glint in her emerald eyes. While she might not have had the same experience of breaking into places, but she had done a lot of stuff when she was a kid in Dublin, with her brothers and their friends. Her friends too. Maya had been a pretty wild kid, even she had to admit.

A quick check of her pockets revealed a small knife, one that she usually kept with her. Just for luck really. She put it back and looked over at the people. Daren was right, those two were their best chance. But how to go about it? Daren was injured, and she wasn't exactly cut out for fighting. She was too small for that. She was fast though...

Nudge

"Faith... Sorry.. Couldn't save Nudge.", Nudge heard, but only just. He was starting to fade, his brain was shutting down, trying to block the pain.

No...Nudge...turn...save...Faith...,he sent, taking more of the strain from his friend, making his agony worse. He didn't care though, Faith had protected him too many times before. It was his turn now.

((Sorry this is so short, mega writer'd block...))

Maya

"Got it.", Maya said with a nod, then glanced over to thwhere the people were. Not a complete match, but it would do. Then again, her wild red curls were pretty hard to replicate. Still, it was better than nothing she supposed. Now to figure out how to get their uniforms off them...as cliche as that plan was, it seemed to be the only thing either of them could think of.
"So...how we doin' this then?"

Nudge

Nudge suddenly felt the pain recede, and although he was still sore, it was only from the after-effects, and from his own injuries. That he could cope with. Just.
But how...? He had been trying to make it easier for Faith to cope...so why did he sense another barrier? Who...? The mind was familier, but in Nudge's weakened state he couldn't put a name to it. That was when the voice drifted in,

"Nudge...we have to get out", the female (that was about all Nudge could tell, since he was about two seconds away from passing out), sounded weak, and in a much pain as he himself was in. That was nothig unusual, for another mutant to be in pain.

He could feel that the straps around his wrists and ankles had been loosened at some point. That helped, it meant that if he could just get his body to move...and he did, sort of. Well, if trying to sit up and ending up tumbling to the floor counted as moving. He landed on his arm, which had been removed from the cast at some point, probably so it could be replaced later. The impact hurt a lot more than it should have, but he couldn't do anything to relieve that pain. He bit down hard on his lip, an instinctive reaction, supposed to stop a scream. A scream that Nudge couldn't produce, so all the action did was add to the pain, as well as drawing blood from his bottom lip.

Maya

Maya watched curiously as Daren started to write something, but it wasn't a language she knew. Her limit was English, Gaelic, and the little French that she remembered from school. The shrug didn't really need an explaination though: he had no clue how to do this.

Fortunately, Maya had an idea. A basic one, but it should work. But she had to explain it. Taking her phone out, she brought up the keypad, typing her plan then showing the screen to Daren. She was better at typing, he handwriting was, basically, crap.
The message on the screen read:

How bout this: If we can make them get over here somehow, like by making some kind of noise when they're close enough, then jumping them when they investgate. We just have to make sure that they're the only ones near, so we don't have to deal with a whole load of guards as well.

yeah, a pretty basic idea, but it was all she could think of, and it didn't seem like Daren could come up with anything better.

Nudge

Once he had blocked the pain enough to function a bit better, Nudge uncurled from the ball that his injury had forced him into, catching sight of Dusk over by the wall.

Dusk? Why here?, he asked, his head tilting to the side a little in confusion. Then he saw all the blood.
Dusk okay? No, Nudge stupid, Dusk not okay. Dusk hurt. Need make Dusk not hurt., not caring or even realising that he was rambling, he dragged himself over to her, almost collapsing against her when he got near enough. Even moving those few feet had been painful and exhausting. He forced himself to stay awake though. It seemed he was the only one that could move, even just a bit. Faith seemed to be unconscious. In a way, that was good, if she was asleep she wouldn't be in as much pain. But at the same time, Nudge knew that it was sometimes a bad idea to sleep when you were badly hurt.

Maybe Dusk was going to go to sleep? That was bad, and would be worse if she did.

Dusk no sleep. Stay awake. Nudge need Dusk no sleep., he pleaded with her, using his good hand to shake her shoulder a little, to keep her awake.

Maya

Maya nodded, and started to move backwards, further into the bushes. Her small frame was good for something, it seemed, as her movements were quieter than they would be if she were taller.
Once she was a bit further back, she motioned for Daren to follow as best he could. She had come through this way to get here, and had a knack for remembering routes and such like. She couldn't help but think that it had been bad luck for Daren's phone to die. But on the other hand, it had been damn good timing.

Nudge

When the door suddenly burst open, Nudge jumped and moved closer to Dusk, in the hope that she would realise he was scared. He recognised Kyra, but her mind was all wrong. It was Bad, cold. Like the way the guards and scientists at the Lab thought. But at the same time, he could sort of sense the real Kyra underneath that. Only just though. The man who was with her? His mind was scary. So angry, so cruel.

Dusk?...Kyra-mind not right. Bad-mind. Nudge not like. Nudge scared Kyra-Bad-mind..., he 'said' to Dusk, sapphire eyes darting between the newcomers, and Faith, who was still asleep. It had been too long now, was Faith...? No, that wasn't right, he could tell she was still alive.

Maya

Daren pulled his phone out again, making it play the same tune, and the two people, the suckers they were, were following them! This was going exactly as planned.
Once they were far enough, out of sight of the building, she motioned for Daren to stay where he was, while she changed position, so that she was behind the two scientists. Just in case they tried to run back. Daren wouldn't be able to stop them, he was still hurt, but she might be able to catch them off guard.

Nudge

Nudge bit his lip when Faith appeared next to him, she had leaned on his bad arm accidently. But he couldn't move away, he was just glad she was alright. Her eyes were all wet though, why? She was crying? Why was she doing that? People cried when they were sad. Was Faith sad?

he didn't have time to ask her though, as Dusk tried to move in front of them, trying to protect them from those people. Nudge probably wouldn't be much good in a fight, injured or not...but he wasn't totally useless.
Before the Lab blew up, he had helped Emvee with a shield. And Nudge had quickly figured out how to make one himself. Not many would expect this, but Nudge was a fast learner, given the chance.

It wouldn't last long though, he knew that. But if it helped even for a little while? that would be enough for him.
Constructing the shield itself was difficult, as he had never done it before, but when he was done, a faint pale blue shimmer hung in the air around the trio. It probably wouldn't stop a bullet, but it would hopefully prevent physical attacks. Who knew? Certainly not Nudge. As long as it helped though, he wouldn't mind...no matter how much energy it took up...He was starting to understand why Emvee had needed him to boost the shield from the Lab...

Maya

Maya Could see what was happening from her hiding place, and knew something was wrong imediately. As if the way these 'people' talked wasn't enough to point that out. Trouble was, there was no way she'd be able to take out both of them herself, and her knife would do next to nothing. She only kept it as a comfort anyway, it wasn't like she knew how to use it. This wasn't good.
A quick glance around revealed a good-sized branch on the ground, and she picked it up. Light enough for her to hold, but thick and heavy enough to cause a bit of damage. And if these people were as bird-like as they looked, then it would follow, medically, that their bones would be thinner, possibly hollow. That included their skulls. They would be thinner as well, more brittle. That gave Maya an idea. One that she was confident with as she remembered the time that she had spent on her high school's hockey team, back home in Dublin. Girl's hockey was brutal, but Maya had been moreso than most, with one of the hardest hits that the coaches had ever seen.
She saw herself back in school, lining up for a shot, knowing the defence was wide open. A confident smirk appeared on her face as she lifted the branch above her head and moved foward, catching the female 'thing' off guard as Maya swung. And the bird-thing ended up with a caved-in skull. As Maya had expected, their skulls were thinner than a human's.
Unfortunately, that brought Maya to the attention of the male, and he (it?) seemed to ignore Daren for a few seconds to try to get the person who had hurt it's comrade...i.e. Maya.
"Oh, feckin' 'ell...", she muttered as the bird-thing grabbed the branch and pulled it outof her hands. The situation had just went from bad to worse.

Maya

Though she was trying to hide it, Maya was in a state of shock. She could actually feel the pain here, in the screams, and the brief glimpses that she got of the people in the cells. Many of them were young, very young. Like those kids. Were they really here? Part of her hoped not. The other part of her hoped that they were, so that they weren't here for nothing. So that she and Daren could help.
"Daren? NĂ maith liom Ă© seo ar chor ar bith... (I don't like this at all...)", she whispered to him, leaning forward a little, so that there was less chance of anyone else hearing her.

Daren
He twitched slightly as he heard Maya start crying. She couldn't stand hearing those kids;it had been difficult enough to see the aftermath, but to hear it as such events unfolded was just too much. But if she keeps crying, we'll get caught! Have to get her to stop, we both need to go in there if we're going to do anything but be captured and charged for breaking and entering, possibly even attempted theft, He thought grimly, turning to Maya, and paled ever so slightly. Another worker here was headed down the hallway. Without any time to think, he pulled Maya close to him and kissed her, turning so that his back was all the worker would see. The moment he was gone( laughing and muttering to himself that the younger ones always found the weirdest places for "that kind of thing"), he let go, bright red and looked away. "I am sorry, Miss Maya....I.....there was no time for anything else I had no time to think......" He trailed off, waiting for thae well-deserved slap to come....

Matt
Matt snarled, thrashing with what little room he had in the restraints and cussing in every tongue he knew. But it was hopeless; he couldn't get free.He was too cold to use fire, and the area around him was too bright for shadows to be any help. The brightness burned even his back, covering him in blisters that were slowly getting worse with his struggling. I have to get Ash and the others out.... Two dead already, we can't lose anymore. None of us want to go back. They'll kill us all once we were in their hands again. They'd force us all into a Games arena with no way out..... He stopped, that dark thought paralyzing him. He couldn't kill them, not after they had become his friends, allies...... The way he was thinking, he would be the first to die.....

He could feel the heat of two new people; the look on Ash's face said she felt it too. But neither of them could tell if the new bodies were friend, or foe.....He just watched as Amp was slowly tortured, being offered promises of safety if he answered.

-Amp-

He stiffened when he felt the edge of a knife raised to his side, letting out a small whimper. It would have been louder if he didn’t feel Blast helping out, making his jaw clench. It was strange with both of them in control at once, Amp wanted to curl up, let Evil Eyes do what he wanted then just try and block it all out. He could feel that Blast wanted to fight back, struggle out of the tight grip that was around their throat. Amp had learned long ago that things just got worse if that happened.

He was getting confused with the answers and questions going back and forth. Evil Eyes said he knew that wasn’t all that had happened, that he wanted to know what had happened before the explosion. Amp opened his mouth to speak, but his intended answer didn’t come out, Blast took just enough control to speak instead of him.

-Blast-

He didn’t like what was going on, he wanted to scream, echo his voice around the room until it shattered. But he couldn’t, Matt and Ash were there, they would be shredded to bits if he screamed. But he could try and stall Evil Eyes, and he got his chance to not fight Amp for control and spoke instead of letting him. ”Just fire
.don’t know
.” He hoped that the man would be convinced but it didn’t seem so as he felt the knife cut into his side, Evil Eyes demanding an answer for the end to the pain.

-Amp-

He felt the sharp edge of the knife cut into the skin on his side and he started to struggle, instinct kicking in to keep himself alive if he could. But moving made it worse, he moved and the blade went deeper into his skin, causing blood to flow down his side. He whimpered, his voice threatening a scream, but he could tell Blast was keeping it from coming out, he wasn’t entirely sure why because he just wanted it to stop. Evil Eyes asked again, saying that the pain would stop if he just answered, the offer was tempting, and he wanted to take it, but blood was dripping to the floor, and he was feeling light headed again.

If he knew any meaningful cusses he would have used them about now. He could feel their head getting the tell tale sign of vision going fuzzy and sounds getting blurring together. There were the slices in their side form the knife, and blood was slowly pooling on the floor. But he wouldn’t let Evil Eyes know, but what was there to know? There was the explosion and it allowed them to escape. Amp and he were allowed out the small cell once in awhile when they left the door unlocked, it wasn’t like it was bad for them t just wonder down the halls sometimes, not that they wanted to. But there wasn’t anything more to say, he was in a cell, walked out when it was time to get food, helped Dusk to the area were the animal mutants were then everything went into chaos.

There was some noise off to the side and he could hear two more people, a female and a male. He could see the white on them, and that was about it, he didn’t want anything worse to happen, something bad always happened with people in white. He was dropped roughly on the floor and he could feel Amp fall into unconsciousness. Once again he was left at the front, but he couldn’t move, he felt so weak, he wanted to sleep. But he forced his eyes open, he saw the white coats come into the room, and trembled, he saw Matt still stuck to the wall, and Ash, still strapped down and blood dripping from her hand. He wondered briefly why there was pool of blood from him, stretching towards the table, his mind cleared for a second as he realized it must have been him, then his head went fuzzy again.

He winced and briefly pulled away as the red headed white coat wrapped up his side. He knew the healers did this, not white coats, white coats generally wrote something down, poked and prodded, noted how much blood has been lost and their state of consciousness. He wasn’t used to this and was slightly confused as he felt himself lifted gently and headed to the door. He was about to yell at the person, if he could get the strength to do so, but something stopped him. Ash was speaking to him and through his foggy mind he caught a few surprising words. ”Getting out.” That was one of the last things he expected to hear in this place, in this situation. But he accepted it, and allowed himself to be pulled along, until a voice in the doorway made him look up. Just seeing Evil Eye’s face made his side ache.

There was so much going on, and with his head being so foggy from the blood loss and his vision blurred and spotted from the beating, he couldn’t quite keep track of everything that was going on around him. There were flashes of color, wave after wave of undecipherable sounds going through his ears, and the faint feeling of himself being taken somewhere. Not like this hadn’t happened before, but the circumstances now were a bit different than they had been in the past. Before, he at least had an idea of what was to be expected, now he had no idea, there were tons of new things he had just gone through, a bunch of new people he had just seen and overall the entire situation didn’t make sense to his uneducated mind.

He felt himself being moved down hallways, more flashes of color, and sounds of voices weaving their way to tired ears and then there was that smell again. Something he had only, what he thought to be a brief, smell of something that he could only describe as fresh. There were the new sounds he had heard after the Lab, exploded and the color was green. He was outside again, finally, but there was meal clanking, and he was put inside something. There was something like that before, it had moved very fast, and took him to a different kind of Lab that wasn’t a Lab. He was just slumped against the side, waiting for his vision to stop being just spots and for the sounds to clear into something he could actually make out.

Everything was so confusing, he didn’t know what he was in, but it was all metal like some of the rooms he had been kept in before, and it was loud. There was a great rumbling and growling sound coming from the front where the two adults were, was there a creature up there? Waiting to spring at them if they did something wrong? He didn’t want to risk that chance and stayed curled up in his corner, he was so tired on top of that. Maybe now would be a good time to sleep, but what of Matt and Ash? He didn’t want to wake up and find them being hurt or gone, they were the closest he had to friends and wasn’t going to lose them now. Every time his eyes started to droop, he forced them open to make sure none of this flashed away like a dream.

-Blast-

He couldn’t quite figure out the two adults, first they were in a Lab like place, but then they came and took them away from another. Were they friends? Trying to save them from the Lab? Or just trying to take them to their own Lab away from another? The thought made him shiver in the back of the mind that they shared, was there more than one Lab? That would mean even more than just the ones he had seen had been taken, was the whole world like that? No, that couldn’t be right, he had seen a world outside the building he had lived in his whole life, so the world wasn’t just a large Lab. But then where were they going now? He would have to fight the coming urge to sleep in order to make sure they were going to be okay.

He looked inside the room and at first was confused by all of it. The room wasn’t like something he had seen before, it had things inside that he had no name for, there was water coming from the ceiling and he involuntarily shuddered at the thought of some of the tests that contained water. He glanced to the other side of the room and saw Matt and Ash; Ash was coiled up and shaking, Matt trying to calm her down. He figured that since Ash was the way she was she was trying not to get wet. But Matt started cleaning her off slowly and he blinked, he didn’t remember the last time him and Amp had been cleaned off. It happened occasionally, the guards would spray them with water or there would be a test where you were submerged in it. He glanced at the two adults, they had clean clothes, he looked down at his own, they were tattered, dirty, and more than one spot had blood.

He took a step back as the man left the room, and started doing things in the other room. His ears picked them up, there were metal sounds, some other things that sounded like
swishing, was the best he could describe it as, or something being moved inside a container. What it was he didn’t know. There were more sounds and he couldn’t identify what was going on, which he found frustrating seeing as every time a scientist or a healer came by he could tell what they were going to do by the sounds of the things around them made, and how they were moving. But this was a mystery to him, besides the slight hum of fire, other than that it made no sense. He just wanted to understand what that fire meant, was he heating metal to stick to him? Something that needed to be heated before it was injected with a needle? He was making himself paranoid, but for good reason he thought, and jumped as a hand touched his shoulder, he was lost in thought and didn’t hear the footsteps. He blinked at the man, and then glanced back at the running water, it didn’t seem to be filling up the container at the bottom, and the slight steam from it felt nice compared to a cold cell. But he didn’t trust it; he glanced back up at the man, Amp’s fear was probably shining through their eyes.
