Introduction
In a world known to many as Earth, there are two beings that coincide peacefully. One being—known to many as humans—walks on two legs and pollutes the Earth with their savage automobiles and factories and other things. Not to mention, making the ocean their personal trashcan. Decades of dumping countless toxic waste into the water caused the beings that lived there to plan a revolt. They capsized boats and sabotaged oil rigs, killing many a human in their wake, not that they were particularly upset by that fact.
After a good amount of tragic accidents, the humans decided to get to the source of the problems and discovered a being far more interesting than they could have ever imagined. They discovered…the merpeople. Excited, the humans tried to capture them—to study them. But, the mer’s wouldn’t hear of it. They banished the humans from their lands, and in anger, the humans took all of the latest weapons to the sea, and destroyed them.
But, there are some survivors. These survivors of what is now known as The Destruction have learned to live on land, keeping their true identities a secret. Over time, more survivors were discovered and they spread out throughout the world, living amongst humans and hiding who they really are from society. No one wants another Destruction.
Unfortunately, there are a few pesky humans who have devoted their lives to capturing the remaining mermaids and studying them for human benefit. It had been said that mermaids have longer life spans, not to mention their substantial powers and their ability to transform from human to mermaid easily. Because of these humans, the mermaids are forced to hide. And they always will.
But will they stay safe?
During the Destruction, the king and queen, as well as everyone who was in the palace and almost everyone else in the village, was killed. There are four known survivors of the pillage, for the others who may have survived have scattered. The Prince and Princess of Syreni, plus their two guards, escaped and are hiding out on land. To keep them safe, the guards enrolled the royal children in a high school off the coast of Hawaii—far away from their old kingdom. Once there, the royal children find it a little more difficult than they thought to adjust to life as humans. Things that the humans learned before they could swim, like holding a pencil, using a phone, looking before crossing the street, etc. are all new to these two children, and it’s hard to tell how their taking it.
When they each meet a human, not just the ones in class, but ones that they instantly connect with, there’s no going back. For when a merperson has their heart set, they don’t just give up with the slightest hint of rejection, they love forever. Both of them know the dangers, and both of them try to stay away, but their hearts are telling a different story, and it’s not like the humans they’ve met are doing anything to help them stay away. The pull of a merperson’s heart strings is hypnotic, and there aren’t many who know how to resist. Their guards are stricken and trying their best to protect the children from anything stupid, but it looks as if it could be something more than simple human worry. Could the guards be…jealous…of their charge’s desires? There is a storm brewing romantically for all parties—and let’s not forget the human hunter out for their heads—or tails—that’s occupying all of their time. Can they get past all of the laws the merpeople have and save themselves from inevitable capture—or is this entire thing futile? No one knows.
Merpeople powers include:
Controlling temperatures
Merpeople can control the temperatures of anything. They can melt, boil, cool, or freeze.
Transfiguring from merperson to human at will
Merpeople can control their transfiguration at will. With a simple thought, they can transform themselves into their true form, or their disguise.
Communicating with sea life
Merpeople can communicate with any being of the sea when they are in their merperson form.
More of a curse than a blessing—they can bond with humans
With a simple kiss, merpeople immediately bond with humans. Over the course of one lunar cycle, the human will rapidly change from human to merperson. At the end of the lunar cycle, the human will be permanently bonded to the merperson. Whatever form the merperson chooses to be in, the human is forced to be in that form as well. The human will also be able to feel the emotions of the merperson, and sense when they are in danger. The only known way to revoke a bond is a Seperation—which only the King knew how to do before he perished.

Caress is the only princess of Syreni and would have been second in line for the throne behind her older brother. She is intelligent with a hint of recklessness.

He is—or was-next in line for the throne of Syreni and is the Crown Prince. He is collected, calm, and can be very overprotective of his little sister.

He is one of the guards that escaped the Destruction and is one of the sole protectors of the royal children. His duty is mainly to guard the princess, but in dangerous times, he guards both of them. He is trying to make up for letting the kingdom fall under his guard.
Name: Kimberly R. Darius| Age: 23 | Face Claim: Odette Yustman | Status: TAKEN
She is the only other guard that escaped from the palace and is the other sole protector that the royal children have left. Her duty is to mainly guard the prince, but in dangerous times, she guards both of them. She does not live in the past, and simply wishes to safeguard the future.
The not-so-average human—a.k.a. the scientists and hunters—are not so keen to fall to a merperson’s charm, and are always on the lookout for the creatures—especially the royal family. The scientists goals are to reshape humanity by taking the aspects of mer life that would most benefit humans—such as their long life spans—and simply inject them into humans, or give them a pill, or anything. Many of the few survivors have been captured, experimented on, and killed. There don’t seem to be many left besides the royal family, and that’s still only two plus their guards. The scientists ultimate goal is to capture the royal family—through whatever means necessary.

He is the one human who won’t stay away from the princess—despite her guard’s warnings and threats, not to mention the other threats and glares from her brother. Although he doesn’t know her secret, she has captured his heart, and he’s not letting her get away.

She met the prince on a chance occasion, and hasn’t been able to stay away. As much as he’s trying to be wise and not get involved with her, he can’t help but notice everything about her. She is determined to know him, and to have him know her.

She is chief biologist at the Lab and controls everything and anything that has to do with capture and experimentation of the merpeople. Nothing happens unless she has approved it, and she is constantly yelling at people for what imbecils they are in an effort to get her job done faster.

He is the hunter assigned to seeking and capturing of the royal family. He is the lead hunter and reports directly to ^^ for his missions. Lately, he thinks he’s got a lead on where they might be…but he’s not sure of its accuracy. Is it the royal family? Or another boy who cried mermaid?

Eloise Drazzel is a local girl. Spending most of her days by the sea. When she was in 3rd grad her parent's where killed in The Destruction and she is now living with her Aunt and Uncle. After crossing paths with the chief Biologist and getting sternly yelled at Eloise vows to get her revenge on the lady, that is what ever revenge means to a 11 year old girl.

Kim's heart broke as Dylan pleaded. If they weren't in water already she was sure she would see tears in his eyes. "Dylan.. We will get Caress back... I promise.. I'm so sorry. I failed everything. Your family.. My family.. Our people." Kim couldn't help but blame herself. She stood behind Dylan and hugged herself her head down. "I'm so sorry." she said between a sob. She never cried and would never dare cry in front of the prince but the stress and the feeling of failure became to much to bare. "I don't know what to do. I want to bust into where ever they have her and kill them all." She said her tone of voice violent.
Dylan pulled Kim into another hug. "It's not your fault Kimberly." He said silently as he ran his fingers through her flowing hair. "It'll never be your fault. You did your best...Caress is a big girl, I'm sure she can handle herself." He'd pull her away to try and look in her eyes as he lifted her chin with his hand.
He'd try to put a smile on his face as he continued. "Let us get something to eat on shore before we decide it's time to kill humans." He'd grasp her hand and start pulling her to the surface of the ocean. "Do not cry. We will get her back... Caress would let me know somehow she is in trouble." he whispered, though it was more of a hope.
Something inside him told him that Caress was ok for now, but she would need his help later on down the road. "Kim, my family has always been your family. You are not just a Guard, you are my best friend." He'd admit sheepishly, though his thoughts told him there was something more stirring between them, though he was not sure exactly what it was.

After that Eloise left the room, she missed seeing the seal because she had gone into the other room to retrieve her bag. Lucy was walking down the hall when Eloise stopped her. "Lucy I'm going home, I'm tired. Tell Neil I said bye" She asked and then headed out of door into the humid air of the island. Eloise walked back toward the beach, it was only slightly out of her way to get home but she wanted to see if the mer people had come back out of the water yet and put there clothes on. Then at least she could track them. Walking to the beach she sat down in the sand, letting it run threw her fingers. It was nice to be by herself for a little bit. Just that nice kind of quiet.
"Ayuh.. he's livin' high off the hog. That was his tank.. well, one of them." Caress gasped, immediately feeling terrible for destroying Dogberry's tank. of course, she hadn't known it was his, but still. She did catch the last part of his sentence though, when he said there was more. "Well, at least he has another, then? And does that mean I'm not in too much troubly for destroying that one?" She asked hopefully. She hated being trapped there, but at least it wasn't too bad when she had Dogberry to play with now, or even Neil was nice sometimes. But when the punishments came out, that's when she was wishing her brother would just come and rescue her already.
She noticed Neil staring at her, and realized she was only wearing her bikini top and shorts. Trying not to be too obvious, she stopped scratching Dogberry's head and covered her stomach with her arms. She scooted away from Neil just barely, but enough so that they were no longer in contact with each other.

She was still worried about getting in trouble, though she hadn't been doing anything to deserve it. Neil laughed. "Just.. don't worry about it." If Neil knew that all he had to do was bring in Dogberry, and Caress would calm down, well the two'd of been introduced a while ago. She stopped scratching the seal's head, and he grunted in discontent. Neil didn't like it, and reprimanded him. "Hey." Her arms moved across her stomach and their legs were touching anymore. Still close, but just no contact.
Lucy had soon came in to tell Neil that Eloise had left. Dogberry woke up, looking around the room, trying to find the source of the awful noise. "Yea. okay.." He was frustrated that Lucy had woken Dogberry up, but now he was up and Neil wouldn't feel bad if he moved. He still sat with them, but now felt more freedom, knowing he could get up. "You hungry?" speaking the the seal. He'd asked Caress many times, but she always said she wasn't.

Dogberry woke up, and Caress instantly felt bad for stopping petting him, she just suddenly felt really self-conscious around Neil. Lucy walked in then, and Caress looked away, agreeing with Dogberry's waves of contempt. Neil asked Dogberry if he was hungry and Caress smiled at the seals answer, which only she could hear. Yes, yes, yes, yes! FOOD! Dogberry barked to let Neil know what he meant and Caress looked around. "What do you feed him?" She hoped to god it wasn't kibble or something god-awful like that.
Neil couldn't hear anything Dogberry had said, only his barking. He turned to look at him, excited now. "Oh, mentioned food. End of that.." He got up off the couch when Caress asked him about Dogberry's diet. "What do you feed him?" "I think shrimp today. What do you think?" Looking down to his seal. He bent over, and held his jaw, to which Dogberry thrashed playfully. Holding his mouth open with a gentle grip, Neil looked at his teeth. "Yea, shrimp should be fine." He was making sure that Dogberry could -chew it. He didn't know if he was ready to chase after bait-fish though. "Okay.. come on then." Stepping near the door, waiting for Caress to go with him. While he did, he further explained Dogberry's diet. "Yea.. shrimp, bait-fish.. Big seafood guy.. expensive eater you," rubbing his head.
Caress smiled as Neil asked Dogberry what he wanted. Maybe he's not as bad as I thought...I gotta value a guy who's nice to sea animals... He waited by the door for her to come with him and she supposed she didn't have a choice. He would never let her be alone. She stood, but swayed a bit on her feet, feeling the blood rush to her head. "Woah." She whispered, putting a hand to her head and waiting till her vision cleared. When she could finally see straight again, she shook her head and resumed her walk to Neil.
"You know, a harp seal's favorite foods are squid, jellyfish, and coruscations. Maybe if you try those he'll love you all the more." Not that shrimp wasn't bad, they like that too, but in Caress's experience they had always preferred the other foods. She reached down to pat Dogberry's head and got a response in her mind to the statement that made her smile, Squid? Did someone say squid?

Standing by the door, looking back, Neil almost came to Caress's aid as she stood up too quickly. "Woah" She recovered quickly though, he didn't have time to. "You alright?" Now standing together, he began to open the door. "You know, a ringed seal's favorite foods are squid, jellyfish, and crustaceans . Maybe if you try those he'll love you all the more." "Yea.. well, gonna have to deal with cooked squid, I want some too." He'd have to ask to pick some up soon.
Coming to a door of another room, Dogberry was more jumpy. Neil guessed he was excited about the food, and knew he was coming to his room. The room was larger, and had a big tank. There was even a fridge, that Neil continued to walk to. Opening the door, he was glad that Dogberry wasn't jumping to get to what was inside. He was proud of his temporary patience. Taking the lid off a Tupperware bowl, he removed one shrimp and put it in his mouth. He took another and threw it in the air, pleased when he jumped for it. As they left Caress assured Neil that she was alright. "Okay.. tell me if anything's wrong, alright?" Once Dogberry had the bowl of shrimp, he was happy and stopped jumping around, eating his shrimp. He didn't mind when Neil took some, he wasn't paying attention. Caress took Neil up on his offer, and would finally eat something. She didn't eat it all, only started to nibble on it. "You can eat it, we have more.." He took a few more from the bowl into his hand.
Neil went to the back of the room and brought chairs over. He didn't want to stand forever, and he didn't want to make Caress stand all that time either. With a sigh, he started to speak. "Isn't this nice.. you know I get so tired of all the other stuff... getting nagged by Lucy.. It's nice to have a little moment with you like this...." trailing off he looked down to Dogberry. "You like your shrimp? Protein makes the body strong and powerful" on the last word, he tapped his nose gently.

Usually she had a sense of bravada, lines that she could say so people wouldn't know she was terrified, but when she talked to Neil in this instance, she was completely and totally honest.

Neil offered her food, but she shrugged and denied it. She hadn't eaten much, and it worried him. "Well, tell me when you get hungry, okay?" speaking in the softer voice he used with Eloise earlier. He finished talking about how it was nice, to just be sitting there not doing anything harmful, and she turned to him. "Nice for you, maybe. You haven't done anything.. except break Dogberry's tank." With the mention of his name, the seal looked to Neil. "But I think he forgives you on that one." Seeing that he was only be spoken of, not spoken to, Dogberry went back to his bowl of shrimp.

Of all the things Neil had done, all the things he didn't give a damn about, Dogberry was one thing he did. Though he wouldn't of wanted Caress to see him, she might use it as a weakness. Kimberly hugged Dylan back. As they were chest to chest Kim could feel his heartbeat and instantly calmed. She took a deep calming breath and smile slightly. Dylan lifted Kimberly's chin and was looking into her eyes. She felt as if he could see straight into Kims soul. Her face began to burn and she looked away from him.
"Let us get something to eat on shore before we decide it's time to kill humans." Dylan suggested. Kimberly realized her stomach was growling and remembered she didn't eat much food at lunch. So, it's gettin' close to bedtime {Can you believe it's only been one day?!}
As for sleeping arrangements, Flower and Nami can find some corral reef to snuggle up on, Eloise I'm assuming is going home, and Neil/Caress can have some romantic fall asleep while talking thing going on idk. Sound okay?

As for Eloise, she can pretty much do whatever she wants as a spy. Whether it be help Neil with Caress, although he seems rather busy, or keep track of Kimberly and Dylan.
And Neil and Caress are just progressing along :)

So just so everyone knows I'll be moving into a new apartment and starting college Wednesday. So that day I will more than likely post maybe once or twice, It's going to be a long freaking day. Also Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will also be busy for me since I have meetings and stupid college activity crap. SO, please be patient with me. Monday should be better since I only have three classes starting at 11:30a.m.

Yes, so during the kidnapping, everyone will post once.
Then, Kim and Dylan will be waking up after the attack and realizing that Caress has been captured. Eloise will be doing whatever it is that spies do lol.
After the attack, Caress and Neil will be relatively alone I suppose, so you and I will be able to post whenever. But don't go too far ahead in time until everyone else has caught up.

Ed is an incredible guitar player! I had no idea he could play that well! Also BB you will be surprised to know he is really energetic on stage, I always pictured him as more reserved!
