Three (3) factors determine your character's rank:

Skills. Age. Years in Grimm.

NOTE: Character's can have high skills but a low rank, due to age and number of yours in the agency.

Rank By Skills:
Add up the number of skill points and divide the total by 60 to find your rank based on skills. Do not include points for Special Abilities (i.e. Magic and Miracles) in your calculation.

  • 90s and up are Rank 7
  • 80s are Rank 6
  • 70s are Rank 5
  • 60s are Rank 4
  • 50s are Rank 3
  • 40s are Rank 2
  • 30s and lower are Rank 1

NOTE: To understand the skills, look at this website: http://opend6project.org/?page_id=69. There are 6 skills and 1 special ability that counts towards two categories (Magic and Miracles). Special ability doesnā€™t count toward your rank, but does determine what instruction you receive during training. Skills can grow and improve.

Rank By Age:

  • 12 and younger canā€™t be higher than Rank 1 or 2
  • 13 to 15 canā€™t be higher than Rank 3 or 4
  • 16 to 18 canā€™t be higher than Rank 5
  • 19 to 21 canā€™t be higher than Rank 6
  • 22 and older can be Rank 7.

NOTE: You can have a lower rank even at an older age. For instance, 17 yrs can be a Rank 4 or 22 yrs be a Rank 5.

Rank By Years:

The only rule for this is that you canā€™t be a Rank 5 to 7 unless you have been with the agency for 5 years or more.

Final Notes:
Ranks can grow. You can re-rank yourself through examination period at the end of every year. You can only re-rank every other year. Exceptions can be made if a person is recommended by a Rank 6 or 7.

Most Fairies are oddities (what monsters/creatures of fantasy are called) who were once human. When the collusion between fantasy and reality began some humans were affected, thus turning into oddities.

EXCEPTIONSFairies who were originally an oddity (usually found/recruited during subjugation missions) or born an oddity (between an oddity and human or born between two oddities). Humans can also be Fairies. Human agents are born between two humans but were gifted with abilities.

Abilities are divided into two groups.

Main Abilities are connected to a Character's race for oddities. While it is connected to a trait for humans (i.e. Mental abilities, speed abilities, strength abilities, etc). The important thing about a main ability is that the ability makes sense for your character to possess.

Sub Abilities are a more abstract type of power. They are abilities that donā€™t have to relate to your characterā€™s race or traits. Sub abilities are weaker than main abilities, but are still strong. (If you can use a type of magic or miracle based ability you would put it here)

NOTE: Fairies do have abilities other than the two groups. These abilities are embedded within the main and sub abilities. But if you were to go through every agent and dissect all their abilities it would take to long, so their abilities are grouped into the two categories.

The world's overall structure and environment hasn't changed drastically (think of Solo Leveling or any other dungeon/hunters manga out there). People live "normally" and things only get crazy when an oddity appears. Unlike Dungeon/Hunter mangas, Fairies donā€™t reveal their true identities to the public and use codenames instead.

Technology is more advanced in this world, but only Fairies have these updates (For example, Fairies possess teleportation devices).

These pictures help describe the type of gadgets Fairies and Grimm HQ possess: https://pin.it/4wfMmpp

There are three (3) types of missions which are divided into levels and ranks:

Level G & F Missions. Level E-C Missions. Level B-S Missions.

Level G & F: Artifact Retrieval.
These missions are primarily for Ranks 1 and 2. The artifact is a mythical, divine, cursed, etc. item that either houses a deceased oddity or use to belong to an oddity. Artifacts are disguised as normal everyday items; the difference is they will start to effect their surroundings if left alone for too long. Often resulting in permanent damage to the area and humans who inhabit the area. While dormant (haven't awoken) artifacts arenā€™t difficult to retrieve. To retrieve the artifact you must either bind it with a spiritual tool (provided by the agency) or destroy it.

Binding artifacts are Level G missions. Destroying artifacts are Level F missions. A Rank 1 or 2 can do both missions. Ranks MUST BE partnered.

Level E-C: Oddity Subjugation.
These missions are primarily for Rank 3 to 5. These missions are intended to subdue or/and bring in oddities who are young, tame but rampaging, or hostile monsters who are able to be subdued without the need to exterminate.

Young or weak oddities subjugation are level E missions. Tame but rampaging oddities (due to some disturbance to their environment or being) are level D missions. Hostile monsters are level C missions. Level C missions involve intense fighting so these missions are strictly for Rank 5 (Rank 4s if showing potential). All other missions can be attempted by all ranks. Ranks MUST BE partnered. , only exception is Rank 5, who can solo, unless they are on a Level C mission.

Level B-S: Oddity Extermination.
These missions are strictly for rank 6 and 7. No exceptions. Extermination missions are extremely dangerous and usually involve oddities that are too dangerous to be subdued. These include a rampaging Oni destroying a city or a horde of goblins eating a neighborhood. These missions are dangerous and can be fatal.

Level B-S missions canā€™t be easily divided until they actually happen, so there is no real distinction between the three other than the danger factor.

For Level S missions only rank 7 Fairies can complete them (Rank 6 can join if needed). These missions usually involve a deity or powerful otherworldly being.

Besides missions ranks are expected to partake in schooling/training or instructing depending on their rank.

  • Classes | Training | Artifact Retrieval = Rank 1 and 2
  • Classes (Every two days for Rank 5) | Training | Oddity Subjugation = Rank 3 to 5
  • Teaching | Instruction | Oddity Extermination = Rank 6 and 7

Grimm HQ is where Fairies live, learn, and train. It is the main operations hub for all Fairies. Grimm HQ isnā€™t a building but a large island in a remote location. (Agents are provided with devices to teleport them to and from the island. The island also has different environments catered to the Fairies).

  • Ranks 1 to 4 are partnered for missions and housing (no more than 3 in a room. Rooms are huge.)
  • Rank 5s can do solo missions, but must pair up for level C missions. Rank 5s can live by themselves in HQ housing.
(5ā€™s have permission to live outside ONLY if a 6 or 7 houses them until they become a rank 6.)
  • 6 and 7 don't have to partner up and live outside of HQ, if they desire.

Image

You can tell Ranks apart by their badge/ID color

  • Purple for Rank 1
  • Blue for Rank 2
  • Green for Rank 3
  • Red for Rank 4
  • Orange for Rank 5
  • Grey for Rank 6
  • Black for Rank 7

Other Things

  1. No one except 7s have seen Grimm, but everyone has heard from them.
  2. You can have side characters just run it by me first.
  3. Agents can be any age and race, even human.
  4. Agents are picked up through subjugation missions, children involved in oddity accidents, or recommendations.

If you have any questions, clarifications, or ideas. Please let me know!
