Appearance: Wiry, slim individual, handsome but not pretty, grey eyes, brown hair. Tends to wear jeans and tees.

Personality:
Recently published novel called "Hate's Jest' that was described by one reviewer as "the most cynical and dismissive ever published about the subject of love". An extreme cynic, scathing when anyone talks about love. Iconoclastic, can be fiery when roused. Mel has had a number of relationships in the past, but for some reason they have all fallen to bits. He satisfies his emotional longings by a series of one-night stands, and refuses to admit to himself how unsatisfying they are. Surprisingly, given his cynical nature, he is quite kind and chivalrous - he'll save a woman from a dragon, but don't ask him to marry her. He'll wipe her tears, but don't expect him to stay around too long after she stops crying. He is scathing and cutting in argument, and highly self-assertive.
