The Broken City of Cassim
Summary: In order to resupply and repair the ship, the Asura dock in the ports of Cassim. While there, the crew manages to recruit a few new faces as well as some old friends. Back on the ship, Captain Barvassi DeVargo awakes from his slumber and reveals to the crew the reasoning behind their latest raid. Unfortunately, before the crew can finish their business in Cassim, the entire city erupts in violent riots, forcing them to leave early.
Acquired Plot Items- Eternity Engine: The Eternity Engine is a mystic energy source used to power shroud artifacts. It works by simply placing the engine inside the device you wish to power.
- The Blank Compass: A golden compass designed by the shroud with an ornately decorated shell. On the inside is a blank smooth surface that will remain the same unless powered by the Eternity Engine. Blank Compasses are pre-designed to only locate set destinations, sometimes these destinations must be unlocked with a key or by meeting requirements.
New Recruits - Erion Ebenum: Taken aboard as a refugee from the riots in Cassim, Erion has vowed his loyalty to the Roussan as repayment since it was he who saved him. Erion now serves as the crew's Merchant.
- Taissa Gillian: Discovered as a stow away hiding in the cargo hold along with Charrask Smarmi, she was allowed to stay as a favor to the captains old friend Char. Taissa now serves as the crew's replacement Gunner.
- Charrask Smarmi: Discovered as a stow away hiding in the cargo hold along with Taissa Gillian, he was allowed to stay because he is old friends with the captain. Charrask now serves as the crew's Navigator.
- Astrid Kur: Found in a bookshop by Sharpclaw and Naga, they eventually asked her to come aboard the Decadence as the chronicler. This was later made official by the captain who inducted her as an official Asura Pirate.
Injured: Aren Hollystone: Due to injuries from the prior battle, Aren has a moderate infection causing him to succumb to several days of bed-rest.
Deaths: None
Crew Status: Healthy. Most of the crew is recovering from small scraps and bruises from being caught in riots, while the other half is resting and attending to their own responsibilities and duties to the ship.
Ship Diagnostics: Operable. While the weapon systems have been restored, there are still crucial repairs needed. There are seems be a malfunction with the ships unique engine, but for now, she will fly.
Current Mission: Following the Eternity Engine powered Compass, the crew has been lead to ancient Shroud Ruins. It was revealed to them that what they seek will be found if they prove themselves worthy. So the crew now needs to pass a feat of strength.
Notable NPC's- Shroud Oracle: A mysterious woman met in the ruins of a shroud temple, little is known by the Asura of this woman.
- Automaton Guardian: These machine guardians were made to test shroud warriors in there plights to prove themselves. They cast shadows over all that stand before them at the immense height of 10 feet tall. Possessing great strength, they wield axes the size of adult humans and have the ability to fire energy projectiles from their hands. Some of these automatons even carry large drills capable of piercing the strongest armor. The guardians are incredibly lethal and durable, said to withstand the might of legions of men and women.
- Man Eater: Man-Eaters are a rare and extinct breed of plant-like creatures. Once found in the Philippine Kingdom, they were poached into extinction for the herbal items one could produce from the bodies. Man-Eaters were carnivorous beings, that were extremely dangerous. They could produce a pheromone that makes their vibrant and beautiful atheistic features irresistible. From there, they would ensnare their prey in their throned vines and proceed to devour them. Or if they preferred, they would produce mindless trawls to do their bidding. Aside from their offensive techniques, Man-Eaters were protected from harm by a thick, natural shell similar to steel.
- Seedling: The spawn of Man-Eaters, Seedlings have a short life span, but a rapid growth rate. They mature in mere seconds and exist only to serve their Mother. Seedlings primary objective is to protect their Mother, but they have a secondary objective which is to hunt and capture 'gifts' for their Mother. Seedlings are naturally gifted in close quarter combat and have vine-like limbs that can grow and retract. They have a short life span that can amounts to a week, requiring nothing to sustain their life and can even regrow appendages or survive without them. Seedling have limited vision and lack all other senses, as well possessing a severe vulnerability to fire.
- Gliders: Similar to their brothers, Gliders are the offspring of Man-Eaters. They have an equal life (but shortened by four days) and mature just as fast. Gliders exist to serve their Mother as Scouts, they survey the area for threats and possible meals. Their tails are spiked and they have the ability to spew forth balls of acidic gunk, capable of slow burning through most material. Gliders lack the regenerative abilities Seedlings have, but have far better vision and can relay information between their Mother and the other offspring, where as the others lack this.
