Light-Crafting Mechanics

Light Crafting refers to a section of Angelic magic that deals with the creation or manipulation of Angelic technology. In it's most basic form Light Crafting can be substituted as technomancy or even thaumatergy in certain cases, but extends far beyond that. When any being able to Light Craft does so, they are manipulating energy of not only themselves and their environment but also the energy of any being connected to them through a Hard Psychic link. It is important than to know the difference between a Soft and Hard link in the first place.

Soft Link: This refers to a stable, unconscious mental connection between at least two beings. The entire Angelic race is naturally connected through such a state, and allows them to sense intense emotional stress and share dreams at will. Messages can be sent through this kind of link by concentrating but can only be received if the listener is also concentrating. Half Angels can also connect to each other and the entire Angelic race but they have a choice in the matter while full Angels do not.

Hard Link: A Hard Link is a stronger mental connection than the Soft kind, and allows much more information and energy to be transferred between the linked beings. While in a Hard Link a being is usually stationary as it takes a lot of concentration to hold the link in place. Skilled Angels and Half Angels can maintain a Hard Link even while moving, and some Crusaders or Arch Angels have even been known to fight while under a Hard Link. Architects use Hard Links with entire crews of ships in order to control the vessel and use the crews energy to Light Craft the vessel into different shapes and sizes.

Light Crafting:Using the energy of ambient light sources, the energy of the user and any Hard Linked beings, the Light Crafter is able to manipulate Bright Steel, Hard Light, and any other substances that make up Angelic technology. When multiple Light Crafters are working in unison they are able to create these materials using techniques that only Angelic Architects know of and keep tightly secret.
