The sleepy, unassuming town of Betdale is barely worth mentioning on any map. The residents are few, the crime rate is low, and with the notable exception of the Great Mold Crisis of the early 00's, they rarely make the news. Thusly, it's uncertain whether the disappearance of every present resident happened gradually, or overnight, as it took some time before anyone even noticed. People are aware now, though, and somewhat worried. After all, what could have caused over 600 people to vanish without a trace?
You are investigators, concerned relatives or former residents returning home from vacation. Honestly, in terms of characters I'm planning to be pretty relaxed- as long as the character has some sort of connection to the town and have a reason to want to investigate the disappearances, you should be good to go. So far I haven't made up any concrete ideas about how anything should go- in my experience it's better to discuss that with the players, Anyway, this is the general idea, I'd love to hear if anyone has any ideas or felt a spark of inspiration reading the above.
