I am hard at work on my char over here. I do have a few questions though.

So I've seen all the episodes and Serenity at least twice, which I'll probably being doing again very soon. I would like to match the detail that you have written with the ship's description, but the wiki on the Intro page doesn't seem to go into a lot of detail when it comes to piloting a starship. Do you have any suggestions/advice for me to gain a better undestanding of the lingo a "skilled" pilot would have?

I'm sure I can make stuff up if need be, but I would like it to sound semi-believable as well as cool.

I'm also wondering if you have an idea of how long my pilot might have been part of the crew?

I guess it really depends on what kind of character you're playing. In the show, Wash was very casual about it, and didn't generally go into specifics. But Wash also played with dinosaurs on the flight deck, and was generally excentric and atypical. One of the reasons I decided on a non-canon ship was to allow more latitude in terms of making things up.

If you're hell-bent on sounding professional, YouTube has a number of History and Military Channel documenteries on aircraft of various types that might be a good resource. There are also websites like the forums at Spacebattles.com which have a lot of usefull information.

That's kind of up to you. What do you want for your character? Do you want to be a newcomer, replacing an old friend, or a grizzled comrade who's been with Walker from the begining? That's the reason I haven't published Walker yet, I want to leave opertunity for backstory with othher characters if need be.

I gotcha. Yeah, but Wash did have the benefit of being able to perform the actions rather than detailing the action of each lever and button press.

I might just check those out.

fyi, Hulu has Serenity and a couple episodes that you can watch for free right now.

I'm thinking more of a new guy, like only a year or two. I should be all done by tomorrow and have it submitted.

Should we all have back story for how we joined the crew, or is the Captain going to take care of that?

I'm thinking the passengers are just getting on at the start of the movie. Other characters, I'm thinking we should collaborate and discuss here in this thread.

I've said that my character joined on just for a temporary sort of job, but not anything specific. I don't have any brilliant "finds the ship and gets a job" ideas for my character, it was probably just a spur of the moment the ship needed a mechanic sort of deal.

Another thing, since the crew already knows each other, are there any relationships among us that we want to establish? In other words, are we all friends, acquaintances, just coworkers... we could discuss that sort of thing here and/or put something about it in our CS.

I don't think Shin would personally know such a reprobate as Captain Walker. But she needed to get away; perhaps a mutual friend, possibly a businessman noble with slightly shady connections.
