Interested in an RP

I need to know who the families are before I write about them, unfortunately.

Anyway:

1. I'll work on submitting my first character. Hopefully it will be done tonight. We can consider it a rough guideline for character submission? I don't really have rules, or a checklist or a skeleton or any of that nonsense: If I can read your profile and go "That sounds like a character I want in this RP" then it gets accepted. I don't have an arbitrary like/dislike list or something stupid like that.

2. I added rules (which STILL can't be submitted with the RP, by the way, Remaeus. Fix it >.>). Again, subject to the committee's rulings.

3. For your edification, "Arapaho" is pronounced (correctly) as "Air-ah-pah-ho" or "Air-ah-pay-ho" but in my head I pronounce it as "Arr-awp-ah-ho." shrug The way the language pronounces "I want food" is hilarious. There's a YouTube channel dedicated to the Arapaho language and it's... interesting.

4. What year are we in? For the introduction to make sense, it should be 2028+. I'm thinking 2036-ish? That way we have enough fictional presidents and time that we can assume anything we need to about the world: International terrorism is in decline, so the ISDA can focus on mafias, a series of reductionist presidents have decreased national regulation, making it easier for people like Mayor McShitbag to run his criminal empire... Again, shrug

1. Seeing as I'm part of one of the crime families, I can write one of them out along with writing out my character (something I have hardly given any thought). I have a broad idea of what's going on with them, so it shouldn't take me too long. But I'm a liar.

1: The RP just needs names, and what their major markets are (prostitution, arms smuggling, drugs, extortion?). I think it kind of writes itself from there: Viktor gets involved in it, which gets Simple involved, which gets Jabber upset, and then the Bay City Butcher puts everyone on ice.

3. You pronounced it right or correctly?

4. Maybe alt timeline is easier, so we're not too far in the future. When I first started writing about the ISDA, it was before all this ISIS crap and I still had confidence in the world's unification in fighting terrorism, so it was written with a very different (hopeful yet dismal) future in mind. Oh well.

5. ...we're all agreed on the vulgarity and swearing, right? While obviously none of us are going to write a bunch of gross cybering stuff, I have a very particular introduction in mind for my characters that involves adult situations and, well, I've been on the wrong side of random blindsided gross cybering stuff enough times before that I'm concerned of putting anyone else in the same situation.

6. I don't have an avatar for Elisabeth's profile. I was thinking a little 100x100 rose with a black background but that doesn't fit the character whatsoever. Any suggestions for a bad-mouthed prostitute with a Ukrainian boyfriend?

8. I have not thought much into the character. I mean she will have basic cop like characteristics, but at the same time she is living in a crime filled world. So keeping her 'innocent' is not an option. She has to have some dark past or something off with her life. I don't know. I am still thinking.

8. Well, she has to be a member of the ISDA, either a Detective if she's been doing it for a while or an Agent if this is, like, her first major operation. The ISDA academy requires all applicants to be 19, and to complete a 2 year training course with the option of undergoing additional, specialized training (forensics, criminal psychology, profiling, etc) beyond the scope of "Normal" police duties. She's better than the police, and while it isn't the official stance of the agency she is certainly made to feel that way. She's probably pretty good at shooting things with a handgun, knows how to operate a rifle/shotgun, and knows sprinkles of Krav Maga, Muay Thai, Ares y Mano, and stuff like that so she knows how to restrain people, escape holds, and break arms/legs/hands.

If she's an undercover agent, we can assume some level of seniority; she's probably been working in the department 2-6 years, making her at least 22 but probably her mid-late 20's.

She would have grown up somewhere far outside of Arapaho but within the United States. If she made it all the way to swearing into the agency, she isn't an idiot; at least a highschool graduate with transferable credits from the academy and her experience if she hasn't pursued a bachelor in criminal justice or something. Which, of course, isn't necessary. Just pointing out possibilities.

It's entirely possible her home life wasn't very good, and that's why she's so happy and such a perfect candidate for the ISDA, getting whisked across the country never to see friends or family again. Maybe she has a minor rapsheet of her own, but tried to straighten out to secure herself a future? And while she was once dedicated to turning herself into a proper straight arrow, maybe the legal life isn't all it's cracked up to be, and she finds herself watching all this gangbangers and mobsters getting rich, with hookers and blow a-plenty and decides "Well... maybe there's something to this..." She gives into one vice, y'know, just to sell the character, be believable. Then another. Then...

9. I had assumed you'd all had some ideas already. If not, I'm content to wait, but the RP kinda makes it look like I'm playing with myself.

And Aer? Any news on the mayor (or anything)? Hopefully s/he didn't miss the announcement.

Well I had a minor idea of her having a rap sheet. Obviously not one as bad as the mobsters and such, but enough to where anymore arrests and she could be in serious trouble. Because of her many arrests she has visited the same precinct multiple times and everyone has gotten to know her. I was gonna do the cliche "you have so much potential" crap with some mentor guy who I was gonna make a detective. At first she was gonna reject the idea of working for the law, but then she was gonna hear about the ISDA and what they do. Working on cases that did not involve delinquents like herself. I was gonna have her start early and skip the college thing. So she would spend one year staying out of trouble and apply to ISDA. So from 18 to 19. Then she would do the two years of training and probably specialize in criminal psychology. In my head that would help with going undercover. So that might put her at 23. The 2-6 years as an agent to become undercover so she would probably be around 26 by the time she meets Viktor. But he would be her first undercover job.

But this is just an idea. Haven't worked out details or anything else I want from her. This is just how she got into the ISDA.

I've been thinking on Crime Families and came up with a few:

1.Crime Families: (names are not set in stone)

Sullivan's Sons. (my guys)
Irish Mob. They have their hands in Protection Rackets and Bribery, Sports Betting and Loan Sharking and Drug and Weapons Trafficking. They are known for their cut throat, literally, negotiating skills and brutish nature.

The Neroni Family(Viktor's People?)
Italian Mafia. Gambling, Kidnapping Schemes and Drug and Weapons Trafficking with a side of whatever else they can get their hands on. They are known as Neurotic Neroni's (sortofjk). They are serious rivals with Sullivan's Sons and frequently fued whenever they spot one another. They have a short and explosive fuse.

The Garofalo Family (mayor douchepounder?)
Italian Mafia. Anything to do with money they partake in. Money Laundering, Loan Sharking, Counterfeiting, Extortion - Protection Rackets, Gambling. They even have their hands in human trafficking with their Prostitution Ring. Two faced assholes that can't be trusted.

1. Do they have ties to east-coast Irish crime? Obviously this is 2000 something, so it's not like Irish crime is limited to the east coast anymore, but something about New York docks and the Irish just go together so well. What about ties to the IRA? It's always fun when some former terrorists turn to simple, petty crime and bring more illegal automatics into the states.

2. The "Neroni" family? What, afraid that the "pepperoni" family would be racist?
Anyway I don't see Viktor working for Italians. The feud stuff is fine, but read Viktor's character sheet.

3. I think the mayor is involved in all the families. Or do you mean the Garofalos are the ones currently enjoying his favor?

5. No holds barred on concepts and language, but if this turns into snuff porn I'm out. Sex and violence are plot tools not substitutions. If anybody thinks their super graphic depictions are going to be being shocking or edgy, they probably aren't. But as long as it tells a story, I'm 100% down for anything.

That being said: Aerineth, I am (eventually) going to create OOC threads for different topics of discussion, if the group thinks they are necessary. Typically if I have ideas or questions, I just PM people directly (since no one ever reads the OOC), or, if it isn't plot-spoiling, ask general questions in the default thread. It's whatever the group wants.

Also those "pearls" made me think of woman's other best friends, and bisexual prostitute or not I want to avoid anything suggestive. But I appreciate the offer.

I hadn't considered a female mayor. For whatever reason the possibility slipped my mind. Maybe it's all the latent racism I'll one day express through womanizing and alcoholism. shrug Anyway, so we have a mayor that has assumed the identity of a dead woman with too little family to recognize the ruse? How, before she had her political power, did she fake her legal and medical records? Social security number, banking information? I feel like it's probably a lot harder today to fully assume someone else's identity than it was a hundred years ago, when everything wasn't stored electronically and accessible from around the world.

I did not add bondage, I did see it. Chuckled. WTFed and continued on with my day. Also you may have noticed I've been slacking with the replies and my random thoughts about the world. Well, I went back to back with different types of sick. Still sick but it's better, its developed into one of those "I don't want to move or do anything" type things now.

1. Yes to all that. That was, kinda, my exact thoughts after thinking about it. I've got this whole history of the gang kind of building up in the back of my head that will or will not be mentioned to the full extant. They've got ties to both New York and Boston, where they originated.

2. Again, nothing was really set in stone when it came to the other two guys. They 100% don't have to be with the Italian mob. The can be Russian, Polish, Roma, the Cartel, Yakuza or Triads. Names are really just place holders.

3. I was thinking the go to group for the mayor, where she has the most favor. The one that she works with the most because I'm seeing them as the richest group and the one that is more likely to be able to secretly fund her shenanigans and help her get away with shit. The "Neroni's" can be her dogs of war and the Sullivan's are her big red button option.
