This is an interest check for an RP idea of mine. It takes place in our world sometime in the mid 1600s. It begins as your typical Pirate adventure plot in which your characters form a crew and set sail in search of adventure. These adventures will be connected by the search for the eight pieces of the Key to the City of Gold; a marvelous treasure trove located somewhere in the New World. During the first part of the journey, our characters will spend most of their time at sea. Here, I will allow you to take the plot where you will, such as into battle against a navy or a rival pirate gang. I really have no plans for this segment of the story other than to retrieve the first two pieces of the Key. However, there will come a time when the crew begins its search for the final five keys when I will take a stricter and more active role in the plot. This segment of the RP will take place entirely on land and will take your characters to exotic places not normally associated with pirate settings. I will have a specific outline of villains and plot twists in this section that I’m sure you’ll find unique and interesting.
You may play as any character you like, be they a stereotypical pirate, a child/teenager who has run away to become or was raised by a pirate, a fallen nobleman-turned-pirate, or a woman. If you wish to play as a villain (e.g. a member of the Royal Navy) I strongly recommend having them switching over to the side of the heroes before the search for the final five Keys begin. Magic is allowed in this world, as it will play a major part later in the storyline. A character with some knowledge of the future (aka American history from 1700 to the present) would be useful for the latter part of the storyline as well, but is not necessary. I may allow ninjas, just for the fun of it, but you’ll have to PM me first before anything is concrete.
Later, after I’m sure enough people are interested, I will create an official sign-up thread with the actual story outline and full rules where you can create your characters. Then we can begin the actual story.
