NOTE: This roleplay is set in the fictitious world of The Elder Scrolls. However, I'll try to be descriptive enough that anyone will be able to understand the RP, even those of you who haven't played any of the video games.
PLOT:
Many hundreds of years ago, the land ofCyrodiil (in the middle of the continent ofTamriel) was ruled by a race of elves called the Ayleids. The Ayleids were led by powerful sorcerors who channeled the power of demonic beings known as Daedra. They also kept the local humans as slaves, and kept them in line using armies of Daedra.
Eventually, a human slave named Alessia led an uprising against the Ayleids and that elven race were all but destroyed. Alessia became known as the Slave Queen, and ruled Cyrodiil until her death.
When she died, she was sainted by Akatosh the dragon god. As she died, he placed her soul into a large red diamond set in an amulet. This was passed down to her heir, and was known as the Amulet of Kings. The amulet was the symbol of a covenant between Akatosh and the humans of Cyrodiil: as long as an heir to Queen Alessia wore the Amulet of Kings, the mortal world would be protected from the Daedra.
Centuries later, a man named Tiber Septim who wore the Amulet of Kings led the humans of Cyrodiil in a series of wars to conquer the entire continent of Tamriel. He suceeded, and became the first Emperor of Tamriel.
Since then, the Tamrielic Empire has been prosperous and relatively peaceful. The Imperial Family, descendents of Tiber Septim (and apparently Alessia) maintained the covenant between Akatosh and the Cyrodill people.
However, in the 433rd year since the founding of the Empire, assassins killed the reigning emperor and all his known children. The Amulet of Kings was lost.
The assassins turned out to be members of the Cult of the Mythic Dawn, who worshiped the Daedric prince Mehrunes Dagon, a destructive god who sought to destroy Tamriel. With the Amulet of Kings missing, Dagon was free to open up portals between Tamriel and his realm, through which he sent armies of Daedric invaders.
Fortunately, a hero (the player character in the fourth game) managed to recover the amulet and locate a bastard heir to the dead emperor, a priest named Martin. Martin went to the Imperial City, capitol of the Empire, to be dubbed the new Emperor and use the Amulet of Kings to banish the Daedra again. Just as he got there, however, the Daedra attacked the city and Mehrunes Dagon himself appeared to try and stop him. Quickly, Martin sacrificed himself to summon an avatar of Akatosh, in the form of a giant flaming dragon, to fight off Dagon. Dagon and the dragon fought, and in the end the dragon defeated Dagon and banished all the Daedra back to their own world.
The dragon turned into stone with Martin and the Amulet of Kings inside it. As long as this statue stood, the Daedra could never again invade Tamriel.
However, the Empire was left without an heir. Twenty years have passed since then.
For now, the Elder Council, which is something like this worldβs equivalent to the Ancient Roman senate, runs the Empire, but the people have little confidence in it. The provinces of Skyim, Summerset Isle, and Black Marsh have seceeded, and many generals of the Imperial Legion have stopped being loyal to the Empire, instead fighting towards their own personal ends.
The Ka PoβTun, a race of tiger-people from the far-off contient of Akavir, is attempting to invade Tamriel. Led by a fearsome intelligent dragon called Tosh Raka, they have laid siege to southern Cyrodiil and are currently sailing for the Cyrodiilic city of Leyawiin.
The RP will begin in Leyawiin, as the Ka PoβTun navy begins to siege the city.

RACES:
There are several races in the world of The Elder Scrolls. The most commonly encountered ones areβ¦.
Imperials
Otherwise known as Cyrodiils. These are the human natives of Cyrodiil. They are stocky, light-skinned people with deep, commanding voices. Living in the heart of the Empire, Imperials tend to be well-educated and good speakers. There are two subcultures: the Nibeneans of southern and eastern Cyrodiil are clever merchan people. The Colovians of western and northern Cyrodiil are more rural and down-to-earth people, and many of them are good warriors. Imperials in general are not very good with magic, though there are exeptions.
Khajiit
The Khajiit come from the province of Elseweyr. They were created by the goddess Azura long ago for reasons unknown. They appear to be hybrids of elves and cats. There are many different βbreedsβ of Khajiit, each assosiated with different lunar phases. The most common is the Suthay-Raht breed, who are basically walking, talking, man-sized cats. Some Khajiit breeds are more feline, however, walking on all fours (and varying in stature from common house cats that talk to mighty lions), while others are more elven (the elven ones might have just cat ears or a catβs tail, and some look just like regular Wood Elves.) Khajiit have little understanding of the word βpropertyββthey figure that if you leave something valuable lying around unguarded, then you obviously donβt deserve to keep it, so they wonβt hesitate to take things that donβt belong to them. They also tend to have a strong sweet tooth. All Khajiit posess night vision.
Wood Elves
Called Bosmer (βtree-sap peopleβ) in their own language. The Wood Elves are a race of stealthy midgets from the province of Valenwood. They are inclined toward being excellent archers, and have a limited ability to communicate with animals. They are enerjetic youthful people, in sharp contrast to the other more stoic elven races. The females are taller than the malesβbut still very short.
High Elves
Called Altmer (βhigh peopleβ) in their own language. The snobbish High Elves come from Summerset Isle, to the southwest of Tamriel. Most High Elves are extremely conservative and xenophobic. Summerset Isle is ruled by an ancient fuedal system of rigid mage-lords, serfdom, and arranged marriages. However, they are also the most intellectual people in the world, having been the first to develop writing and having many fine universities. The common language of the Empire, Tamrielic, is an offshoot of their language. The High Elves are naturally inclined to be sorcerorsβhowever, they are also very sensitive to spells that others cast on them. A fireball spell that would irritate a human will sear the skin of a High Elf. High Elves seen outside Summerset Isle are generally exiles.
Dark Elves
Called Dunmer (βdark people) in their own language. The Dark Elves are descended from High Elf pilgrims from Summerset Isle called the Velothi. Following a prophet named Veloth, they left Summerset millenia ago, claiming High Elven society to be corrupt, and settled the eastern land of Morrowind. After settling in Morrowind, three of themβAlmalexia, Sotha Sil, and Lord Vivec, used profane magic to turn themselves into gods. Azura, the Velothiβs patron goddess, was very angry at them for this. She cursed the Velothi with ugliness and reduced their capacity for magic. From then on, they were called Dark Elves, and they had grey skin and red eyes. Nevertheless, the Dark Elves under the guidance of their three new gods (who called themselves the Tribunal) built a mighty and proud civilization. Unlike the other provinces of the Empire, Morrowind was never really conquered by Tiber Septimβhe had to negotiate with the Tribunal toavoid a long and bloody war against their fanatical armies. Today, the Dark Elves are mistrusting of the Empire and all foreigners. In their homeland, they keep Khajiits and Argonians as slaves (even though officially, slavery is illegal.) Dark Elves are clever and kiniving people, quick to betray and manipulate those around them.
Argonians
The lizard-fish-people of Black Marsh. In their homeland, they live as simple tribespeople, but many travel to Cyrodiil to seek their fortunes. They are skilled hunters, but generally peaceful towards other beings. Little is known about their culture, as Black Marsh is inhospitable to anyone but themβit is filled with disease, predators, and difficult terrain. They can only survive there because they are immune to almost all poisons and diseases. As an aside, they can also breathe underwater.
Nords
Nords are the big and tough humans of the Skyrim province, in the rugged north of Tamriel. They are light-skinned and light-haired. Nords are generally very strong, and are often warriors. They are not at all bothered by cold (be it cold weather or magical frost). Nordic mead is famous everywhere, and the Nordic people love to drink. Like, a lot. They drink pretty much whenever they can.
Bretons
The Bretons come from the province of High Rock, and are of mixed human and elven ancestry. As such, they tend to be better at magic than the other human racesβbut unlike the High Elves, they are actually resistant to enemy spells. Other than that, Bretons live in your typical medival European fantasy land. They hold a grudge against the Orcs, who have invaded their lands many times.
Orcs
The Orcs are monsterous warrior people. They are most commonly found in the mountains of High Rock, where their capitol city of Orsinium is, but they can be found all over Tamriel. They have fangs, green skin, and piglike snouts. Despite their fearsome appearance, however, they are slowly becoming accepted by the other races of Tamriel and, thanks to many of them serving in the Imperial Legion, they are officially citizens of the Empire. In the past century, this race of pariahs has worked hard toward the goal of gaining acceptance in mainstream society. However, that still doesnβt change the fact that, uhβ¦.ORC SMASH!!! SMASH SMASH SMASH!! Its just that nowdays, Orc Smash within the limits of the law.
Redguards
The Redguards are the dark-skinned humans of the Hammerfell province. Their ancestors came from the island of Yokuda across the sea, but after it was devestated in a supernatural war, they fled en masse to Tamriel. The Redguards have a maritime culture, and most of those you see outside of Hammerfell are most largely seafaring merchants or pirates. In combat, they tend toward melee tacticsβthey are not as strong as the Nords or Orcs, but they tend to be more agile and skillful. Yokuda itself has recovered from itβs little apocalypse, and sometimes trades with Tamriel.
