Hi, everyone. I am... well, you can call me Essie. That's not my real name, but it's basically what I go by on the internet 99% of the time. It's also the name of one o' my OCs. But anyway.
I, er... well, there's really nothing interesting to say about me (lamelamelame). I found this site by Googling "roleplay." I dunno where it's been my whole life. This is, like, exactly what I've been looking for. I've tried to RP other places (*cough*GaiaOnline*cough*), and it's never worked out. They always die prematurely, or the people I'm trying to roleplay with have horrible grammar and... ugh. The point is, this place is like... exactly what I imagined and never thought existed, so I'm really excited to get started.
I guess I'll also say that I TECHNICALLY started roleplaying, uh... five years ago, and have since then, but only off and on. There was one website that I co-ran and was very dedicated too, but it's pretty much dead now. We tried to bring some members back this summer but everyone seems to have other things to do, or they keep getting grounded... heh... Anyway, I'm a bit rusty, as can be imagined, but I'm always, always interested in expanding my vocabulary (which has also shrunk due to rustiness). I can be super-picky over grammar, or I can not be - whatever's needed of me. I tend to be unable to write extremely long-winded posts, just because they end up losing quality as they gain quantity, if you know what I mean. As far as genres go... I like modern roleplays with a sci-fi twist. I shy away from historic roleplays unless it's a topic I know a lot about (and I'm not really a specialist in any particular historical topic or anything). I just... really hate not knowing a lot about what I'm roleplaying, if that makes sense.

I found this site the same way, and thought it was absolutely amazing. Since then, I've tried to roleplay on a few other sites, but I've been pretty disappointed thus far. I think you'll love it here. (:

Welcome to our happy little – I should say large – community/family of RPG (sorry for the acronyms, Role-Play Gateway) Essie! I’m happy to see another person has found their way to us and is willing to jump into the enjoyable tales and stories we have to offer. My name is Maestro and besides being a member of staff, I have the important lovable job of being a Mentor! Whether you're a premature writer, advanced, chat based, one-liners, etc, this role-play is for you! Luckily it's still in the early stages of creation so join while you can. This will be a constant expanding role-play that will let your characters evolve throughout the many plots to come. More importantly, if you're looking for help, this is a fun way to accomplish it! Throughout all hours of the day Mentors running the role-play will both participate and be there to answer your questions and help you better your role-play - if you wish it. I know what you mean about trying to roleplay at other places. GaiaOnline was where I first was introduced to role play, but all it took was one dead RP to make me pack up and look for a good, dedicated site. And that's how I came to be here. :3

Aww, thank you Myth. It's actually the nickname for one of my OCs, Estelle. It just eventually became my internet alias because I used that character for a roleplay that I was very involved in and eventually ended up co-running.

Yeah, same. Gaia's also riddled with illiterate roleplayers, so the literates get kind of snobby sometimes, and they demand really ridiculously long posts, and I just can't do that. I can only write as much as comes out when it's my turn to post, and when I'm forced to do something unfairly long, it just makes me less and less motivated. So, yeah, I'm really glad I found RPG :D

Orestiad: I really like it. As I've said, I'm really glad I found a site that's completely dedicated to RPing. It makes it so much easier to find roleplays that I like and want to participate in and that are actually active. I'm still getting a hang of the tab system, but I think that's a neat concept, too.
