Justin's face beamed with excitement as he read Emily's email. He quickly logged onto the military flight website he had access to and booked two tickets, one in his name, and one in Emily's for the week before christmas. He quickly sent off the confirmation to her so all she had to do was print her confirmation and show up.

Emily,
Too Late! Hope you got the confirmation, if not let me know. Also, I will be busy tomorrow and flying the next two days, then I'll be at my dad's place. I'll send you an email as soon as I get settled. Have a good few days. Two weeks till vacation!
Justin
"And when someone apologizes to you enough times for things they’ll never stop doing, I think it’s FEARLESS to stop believing them. It’s FEARLESS to say “you’re NOT sorry”, and walk away. I think allowing yourself to cry on the bathroom floor is FEARLESS. Letting go is FEARLESS. Then, moving on and being alright…That’s FEARLESS too." - Taylor Swift

Emily received the confirmation e-mail along with Justin's. She was surprised that he had already bought the flight. She began to pack and told her work she would be taking a vacation for the first time in a long while.

Justin,

I feel terrible you went ahead and booked the flight. I am rather excited though and can't wait to ditch this awful cold of New York and soak up some sun. Good luck at your dad's, I hope things turn out fairly fine for you.

Here's my number if you need to talk if your dad gets to be too much. 555-4387

It was a few days before Justin got the chance to respond to Emily's email. He hadn't gotten the first flight home and everything was delayed a few days. When he finally did get home, he met his dad at the airport and went home and slept for an entire day, then he was back to normal. It was weird to him, not having anything to do...but there were lots of people to see while he was home. Finally, about 5 days since they'd talked he got online and saw her email.

Emily,
Things got delayed of course and I'm just getting a free minute. Sorry I didn't write sooner.

Don't worry about the flight. I get them extremely discounted while I'm on leave so it's not as crazy as you think. You'll just have to buy me a nice tall beer as soon as we get to the beach.

If you want to talk before we actually meet next week 897-4883.
Justin

The next day was the day he was going to make his rounds, seeing family, a couple friends he'd had back at home etc so he logged offline and went to bed.

Emily had wondered for a while why he hadn't responded to her e-mail. Had it been weird giving him her phone number? She hoped not. When she finally did receive she felt stupid for worrying. She didn't much feel like sending him an e-mail in response. For a while she stared at his phone number after she had saved it in her phone. She wanted to call him, but at the same time it would be weird.

Finally she found the guts to hit dial. The phone rang and she felt her stomach flop over with the anticipation. They had only e-mails, letters, and a picture of one another. Was this a smart idea after all?

Justin was out at the store when he got the call from a number he didn't recognize. Then he did a double take. 555... that was what Emily's number started with so he answered quickly, "Hey. Emily?" He asked. You could hear the smile in his voice and he'd hoped it was her calling.

They talked for a while, almost an hour until Justin's phone started dying. He told Emily and promised to call her back later, which he did. They talked for almost all of their spare time the next two days. They talked about everything from family, to friends, to their favorite colors and finally they found themselves both boarding planes to the bahamas.

Justin's flight was about 8 hours. He slept most of it. Before landing he went to the bathroom, checking to make sure he looked halfway decent. He wore a pair of plaid shorts, a dark blue polo, some sunglasses and flip flops. He was ready for the beach. Their flights got in around the same time so Justin waited in the baggage claim area looking around for Emily.

Emily had been nervous at first to call him but was glad that she had. They talked for almost an hour before he had to go. When he called her back they talked about everything. It was nice hearing his voice before meeting him in the next couple days. He was a lot like her and they had a lot in common. They talked about serious political issues and silly none sense. It was easy to talk to him.

Emily was excited when she boarded her plane. It was a long trip but she was too excited to take a nap. She tried reading her book several times but found that she couldn't get past the third page. Her mind kept wandering back to her conversations with him and actually meeting him for the first time in person.

Emily came off of the plane with her carry on bag slung over her shoulder. She was in a pair of dark jeans and had a light sweater on as she had left a chilly New York. It was odd seeing so much sun but she was excited for it. She looked around before she moved off to the baggage claim figuring Justin might be there.

Emily spotted the back of someone who looked like it could be Justin. She caught a glimpse of the side of his face and smiled as he hadn't spotted her yet. Her stomach was rolling over with nerves as she walked up to him. She stood behind him and cleared her throat rather awkwardly.

"Justin?" she asked with a hopeful smile.

He smiled before he turned around and when he did he was a little taken aback. Emily's photos didn't do her justice at all and she looked amazing standing there in front of him. He stammered out slight, "ye.. yeah." He laughed a little and shook himself out of it. "Hey. How are you. Give me a hug." He said hugging her a little bit. "Thank you again for coming. How was the flight? Did you get your baggage yet?" He laughed knowing he'd just asked way too many questions at once. "I didn't get mine yet."

They walked over getting their luggage and headed outside to grab a cab and head to the hotel Justin had booked. When they got there a consierge got all of their luggage and wheeled it inside. He walked with Emily up to the desk of the gorgeous Atlantis hotel. He told the woman at the desk his name and gave her his confirmation number but she wasn't pulling anything up. He pulled the papers from his bag and showed her. She asked him for ID. Instinctively he pulled out his military ID. She looked it over, then talked with someone else quietly. Justin looked at Emily, "I'm sorry for this." Finally the woman came back and said, "Well unfortunately the only thing I have available is a suite for the next two weeks, but my manager went ahead and gave me the approval to upgrade you. Thank you for your service Mr. Shipp." She got them keys and directed them where to go at the huge resort. Lastly she said, "I've also booked you a day bed tomorrow by our ultra pool. If you need anything else please let us know."

Justin and Emily walked upstairs and he opened the door. Their luggage was already waiting for them inside the gorgeous suite. There was one huge room and a living area and even Justin was a little taken aback by how nice it was. "Woah." he said then smiled at Emily. He looked and saw there was only one bed. "Oh... I had booked two beds...do you want me to call and see if they can bring a cot up? I'll sleep on that." He said letting her know he had made plans so they didn't have to sleep together.

Emily laughed as he stuttered for a moment before giving her a slew of questions. She gave him a hug and smiled. "The flight was okay, though I think the peanuts they gave me were expired. No, I just came from my plane. Though I'm sure we can find it together." She thought it was cute how rushed he had been.

They arrived at a rather lavish resort and Emily was shocked by the granduer of it and didn't know what to say as they stood at the check in desk. She waited patiently as the woman murmured before walking away. Emily raised her brow as she said that they only had one room left, that it was a suite, and she had the permission to give them the upgrade for the inconvienience.

They came to the room with their luggage already there. Emily's eyes were wide. She had never been somewhere so fancy. She turned to look at Justin with a stifled smile. "This is incredible!" she moved and fell face first into the bed. It was extremely soft. "Oh nonesense! I won't make you sleep on a cot. You've spent the last ten months overseas with a crowd of men. As long as you promise to keep to yourself we can share." She said with a smile. "Though I'd be happy to take the couch. You honestly could have the bed." She shrugged further into the bed.

As they had walked up to the room he smiled a little, "I guess sometimes it pays to flaunt your military ID." Justin knew that from the few times people had upgraded his rooms before, or given him free drinks all night. Sometimes it was just small but in this case, it was great.

He shook his head, "Nope, The bed is big enough we can share." He smiled a little bit and then said, "Well, what first? We can eat, go to the pool, go on water slides, there is a casino." He said sitting on the couch in the living area looking over their book of things to do. Suggestions?" He'd asked. "Personally... I think this restaurant looks awesome." He said pointing to one of them in the book.

Emily rolled out of the bed, though she didn't want to. It was a dream to lay on and she wished that she was capable of sleeping for days on end. She moved to sit by him on the couch and was surprised it was comfortable as well. "I'm actually pretty hungry right now. I think food sounds great, so I guess we should go try out this restaurant." She stood up. "Though I think you should give me a moment to change. This sweater is already very uncomfortable." She said. She took one of her suitcases and opened it up. After rifling through it she procured a pair of white shorts and a yellow t-shirt. She went to the bathroom and changed before coming back out with the winter clothing.

Emily slipped on some sandals before looking to Justin. "I feel better already, now let's go get something to eat!" she smiled.

Justin smile and grabbed his wallet off the table beside the door and made sure he had a key to their room. "Let's!" He said opening the door for Emily walking with her back down to the lobby where the restaurants all were. He opened the door to the one they'd seen in the book and smiled, "After you."

A hostess was waiting immediately with a beaming smile and the place seemed all about customer service. It also smelled amazing as soon as they walked inside. The hostess sat them and gave them menus and almost instantly a woman was there to take their drink order. "Hm.. I'll have one of those big drinks I see everyone with."

They eat dinner and it is amazing. Justin was still used to all of the instant food he'd eaten on base so this was a 1000% improvement. They both also ordered desert which was amazing. Afterwards Justin smiled and looked over at Emily as they finished up he'd put his credit card down on the check. "What do you think about a walk on the beach?"

The restaurant was better than Emily had originally thought it would be. The customer service was incredible and the food was even better. Emily was happy to be able to just let go her worries and enjoy this time with Justin. He was a sweet guy and she found herself liking him even more than she did before. She frowned a little when he placed his credit card down to pay for the meal. It was weird having him pay for so much. Emily decided she would pay for the next thing so it would be fair.

After they were full and the meal was paid for she sat back for a moment to let her food digest a little. She nodded her head with a smile. "A walk on the beach sounds lovely." She stood to her feet and walked out of the restaurant with him. As they made their way down to the beach the sun started to hang low in the sky. It created a beautiful sunset that Emily admired greatly. She looked to Justin and sighed a little. This was starting out as a perfect vacation.

"How did things with your dad go?" she asked quietly while they stepped through the sand.

"Ah... good ol' dad." He laughed a little as they walked through the sand. "Surprisingly it wasn't as bad as I thought. But... He really doesn't want me to re-enlist. He doesn't think the money is worth being away from home and wants me to settle down. He mentioned grand children and thats when I tuned him out." He laughed a little.

Justin had taken his shoes off and walked towards the edge of the water, letting the waves crash into them. He loved the beach, and the water. He was hoping he'd be based somewhere warm when he re-enlisted, Florida, Phoenix, Texas but you never really knew. For all he knew when he re-enlisted he could be shipped back overseas, although it wasn't too likely.

"What do you think about it? Like.. what if your future husband was in the military?" He asked her strictly out of curiosity.

Emily just listened as he talked about his father before she followed him to the water's edge. She took of her sandals and let the water wash over her own feet. She thought about his question for a moment as he asked what she thought of having a military husband.

"I suppose as long as we're in love it wouldn't matter to me if we had to move around a lot." She shrugged and kicked her foot through the water. The water was warm and pleasant and it made her smile a little. She hadn't been able to relax like that for a very long time.

"Thanks for inviting me along, this is all really nice." She said and waded deeper into the water until it had come up to her knees.

He smiled a little bit as they walked, listening to what she thought about not caring if she had to move around as long as she was in love.

Justin had never been in love, he actually believed he was incapable of it. He had a mentality of a gypsy. He left everyone he cared about from the day that he could. He had been at basic training when his mom passed from cancer. He thought back to the phone call he received from his dad, begging him to come home, to forget the military and be there with his family. He didn't. He didn't even attend her funeral. He had watched her suffer up until the day he left, and didn't want to remember her laying in a casket. He wanted to remember her smiling and telling him to make her proud as he boarded the first plane. That was when he believed he would always be in the military, always moving and never settling down to fall in love. He didn't want to lose anyone else and he didn't want anyone to have to suffer through losing him if the day ever came.

He watched Emily from closer to the edge of the water as she went up to her knees and smiled a little bit. "Thanks for coming... if you hadn't I'd probably be sitting at the bar getting wasted alone." He laughed a little bit, but in all honesty it was true.

He kept walking slowly with her, letting his thoughts wander to how beautiful Emily really was. Her brown hair falling over her shoulders as they walked in the ocean, just with the moonlight shining down on them. He smirked slightly to himself and watched her knee deep in the water as the waves came in over his feet.
