The everstone, which once belonged to the most powerful warlock of all time and is known for its singular ability to restore and maintain youth, has been discovered. Sort of. No one knows where it is, but a clue as to its location has been discovered, and the world has gone crazy trying to find it. Whether they are seeking the monetary, the historical, or the youth-inducing uses of the stone, the allure is there and the competition is fierce.
This is the official OOC thread for a game called 'Search for the Everstone.' You may have seen some discussion about this game in a different thread called 'Not an emo monster RP.' As such, be well aware that while their are 'monsters' in this game, they are not emo. Nor are any of the humans. Here are some basic rules:
1. This game takes place on earth, beginning in Chantilly, Virginia, USA. It will begin September, 1940. Keep these facts in mind during your posts. This is during World War II, and before laser guns (and this is more an action/adventure than a sci-fi. So no, you cannot be a James Bond like character and have a laser gun anyway). Try to find a balance.
2. There is in fact magic and magical elements to this game.
3. No god modding. No flaming. Follow the basic etiquette or role playing.
4. At least 5-7 lines per post, and good grammar is a must.
5. No OOC in the IC, keep it all here.
Here is a character skeleton if you would like to apply:

Human
Vampire
Werestuff
Centaur
Witch/Warlock
Fishmen
There is no specific religion for any one race: a Tibetan vampire is just as likely as a Tibetan warlock to be Buddhist.
Also, there is no difference between the sexual allure of one race to another. So no 'seduction' powerz beyond the norm. Sorry.
Specifics about the races:
Human: Dur. Average lifespan is 110 years.
Vampire: Not the emo neck nibblers whose souls are damned. In this situation, a vampire is a being who can (CAN, not MUST) sustain themselves off of the blood of other creatures. However, they can also live off of regular nutrition that humans survive off of. They do not melt in sunlight. However, what with their preference for the nightlife (as a result of their blood-loving ways) vampires frequently sport pale skin and a certain light-sensitivity. Average life-span is 200 years. Vampires have the ability to shift shape for a limited time (longer than an hour without changing back often causes great pain or difficulty in changing back), usually just into a humanoid bat-form, bat form, and a mist form to allow for quick travel. Particularly talented vampires can take on the form of a favored animal. Vampires also tend to prefer a more aristocratic lifestyle, perhaps due to their extended lives.
Werestuff: The most common is the werewolf, but a few other varieties exist (such as werepanthers, werejaguars etc.). Werefolk most often walk around in a normal-looking human form, but are said to look a bit shaggier than regular people. Their hair and nails grow about twice as fast as that of a normal human, and they have a preference for barely cooked meats. There are two forms, aside from their human one, that they have the ability to take on. Their animal-like form is humanoid, and generally quite powerful. They have the ability to change into their animal-like forms at any time, except for the full moon, when they take on the natural animal form of their were-selves. While in their animal and animal-like form, werecreatures maintain their normal personalities and thoughts, along with the gift of speech. Their cultures are usually open, small communities, with children being raised communally and all belongings being placed into a pool to support the society as a whole. Average lifespan is 120 years.
Witch/Warlock: An otherwise normal human who is gifted with a talent for magic. This often requires years of study, both with incantations and proper potion brewing techniques. Some have mastered longevity brews, but these are extremely difficulty and ridiculously expensive for their rarity. Average lifespan is 110 years.
Fishmen (defined by Kronos) : Your average dweller of Devil Reef, these scaly creatures were descend from the sea life. Although they are called 'fishmen', the civilization includes all manner of creatures, ranging from the hardy and squat trench dwellers, to the massive and dumb arctic dwellers, and the much fantasized about and quite intelligent reef dwellers. Fishman society ranges from small clans in the deeps, to sprawling and communal cities in the Great barrier reefs and the Florida keys, two seats of the fishman Empires. They usual raise large families in a communal manner, and live to be almost 200, due to the natural aging of fish. Fishmen do not have any magical powers, except for a select few bottom dwellers that absorbed ambient magic seeping from the earth.
The Fishman Empire is quite advanced, and their naval weaponry is some of the best in the world. They also have nuclear capabilities, thanks to U237 seawater processing technology they traded with the humans for. All fishman non-weapons technology is non-electric in nature, due to the obvious problems that would imply.
Centaur: Some sort of horse from the waist down, human from the waist up. Finding it difficult to reside indoors, they are generally not seen alongside the other races. They also tend to lead a more tribal lifestyle than the other races, relying mostly on themselves for production of food, building materials and so forth. Average lifespan is 150 years.
