Nikota sat comfortably cradled a few feet of the ground in her favorite tree. Midnight grazed on the grass below her. Her eyes dancing from line to line on the pages of her favorite book. The complete works of Edgar Allen Poe she had read the book countless times from start to finish, so much so the pages were worn. The sound of the creek that ran through the 40 acres of the D’ Angelo’s property keeping her company, one leg dangling from the branch. The sky was a depressing gray and dark black clouds plagued the sky. The usual summer storm was approaching quickly, setting the perfect mood for Nikota’s reading.

Niki shouldn’t we get going? the voice drifted through Nikota’s head like a soft melody, as Midnight lifted his head to look at his owner. She ignored as if she hadn’t heard. Midnight returned to his grass, knowing she was too enticed by her book to answer. A loud rumble echoed in the distance, followed by the angry streak of lighting across the sky behind Nikota and Midnight. Only moments passed before drops of water stared to fall from the darkened sky, though despite the light show in the sky and the rain, the weather remained warm.

“Now we should get going.” Niki said aloud, jumping from the tree like an adventurous little boy would. She wrapped her arms around her book protecting it from the soft flow of rain, shoving it into her backpack, before throwing it over one shoulder and climbing onto the bare back of her large black horse. “Midnight, my love, let’s ride” she spoke a loud and with those words the black stallion bolted, straight for the stables, she knew she’d be soaked by the time they got their but she didn’t mind in the slightest. Weather like this is what she lived for. The wind whipped through her long hair, she gripped her horses raven main as he raced through the tall grassed fields. Moments like this really made Nikota feel infinite.

When they finally reached the stables , midnight came to a slow halt out front. Midnight let out a loud snarl-like huff, stomping his front hoof obviously irritated at something. It was then Niki’s gaze meet the silver range rover parked in front of the house. She rolled her eyes “Doesn’t he have somewhere else to be.” She huffed. Apparently not, when are you going to tell that pompous prick to find someone else to stalk? Midnight huffed. Niki couldn’t help but giggle “He’s not so bad I guess.” She sighed knowing how much her father liked him. She kissed Midnights nose gently, before clicking to him, a signal for him to walk himself inside the barn.
Nikota watched as Midnight pranced into the barn and one of the ranch hands lead him into his stall. She half-ass jogged up to the house, soaking wet, she looked like drowned rat. Her drenched hair clinging to her face. The house was silent, with only the distant ticking of the grandfather clock.

“Daddy
Missy?” she paused waiting for a response “Trina
Jamie?” she paused once again. She bit her lip wondering where everyone was, shrugging she made her way up stairs, towards her room. “None of the above.” She heard a familiar voice call from the bottom of the staircase. She turned seeing Dustin in his normal, dressy attire, hair slicked back. “Decide to take a shower with your close on, love?” he smirked looking over her “Why don’t you get cleaned up, I’m taking you to dinner.” He said placing his hands on his sips. “Jamie’s making spaghetti, my favorite.” She lied as she continued up the stairs “Lair.” He chuckled following after her. Nikota stripped her clinging close from her body, reveling her badly scared torso and back, leaving the door open. Dustin leaned in the door way, he was the only person besides her father and sister who had ever seen her scars and lasting burns, not even Damien had ever seen them he had possibly caught glimpses but that was about it. He watched as she slipped on a hoodie and a pair of jean shorts, once they had been close
once she had been in love with him, but that seemed like ages ago now. “Listen Dusty, it’s a sweet gesture.” She said flipping her hair over crimping it so that when it dried she’d have soft beach curls. Then rearing her head back up shaking her hair out she flashed him her famous, pearly smile. “but, I’m just not feeling it tonight.” She said walking past him and making her way back down the stairs, taking them two steps at a time. He followed after her like a puppy. He had been trying to win her over since they broke up last summer, convinced they could pick up where they left off. She popped a cup of instant hot chocolate into the microwave, turning back around to face him. “Nik come on, please.” He begged She pretended to think about it for a second tapping her index finger against her lips. “Were home.” She heard her father’s thick Italian accent coming from the entry way. Nikota was grateful for the interruption.

She skip walked her way to where her father’s voice was coming from, looking very similar to the way a fairy would move, light and flowy. “Daddy, where did
” she stopped mid-sentence realizing who was standing behind her father, duffel bag, duchy sun glasses and all. Her eyes widening a bit. “Well look what the cat dragged in.” she heard Dustin say from behind before she had the chance to say anything.

“Yeah missed you to pretty boy.” Jessie teased. “What’s wrong baby doll, cat got your tongue.” He said almost darkly as he glanced to Nikota. “Feels good to be back.” He added staring right at Niki. Nikota’s realized how shocked she must have looked and quickly replaced the look with a slightly irritated look. “Wow dad, I thought we were always taught to take the trash out, not give it a home.” She growled before pushing past them back outside into the rain making her way to find her sister, wanting to warn her that he was back.

Jessie rolled his eyes as he felt Nikota push past him “Drama Queen.” He said under his breath. “I suggest if you have anything bad to say about my daughters, you keep it to yourself.” Mr. D’ Angelo warned in a very fatherly tone. “Yeah, whatever.” he breathed. “What are you doing here rich boy, stalking Drama Queen I assume.” Jessie smirked. He liked to push peoples buttons and although he respected Mr. D’ Angelo, he still couldn’t help be test the waters. “Jessie, I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that. You can head up stairs and get settled in. Leave your bag here. I’ll make sure and go through it.” He said in a strict tone, though his voice smooth and calm. Mr. D’ Angelo was a very kind and generous man. Having been an orphan himself, he had quite a lot of patients when it came to trouble makers like Jessie.

“Yeah, Yeah. You got it warden. I’ll just go upstairs and wait for you to take the imaginary handcuffs off.” He said dropping his duffel bag right where he stood, before giving the two men in the room a lazy two finger salute before jogging up the stairs. He opened the door to a bedroom he was quite familiar with, it was exactly the same as the day he’d walked out without a word. Nothing had been moved. He shut the door behind him, closing himself off from the outside world. His eyes drifting over the room, before his blue eyes feel upon a photo that nearly shattered his already broken heart. He could remember taking the picture like it was yesterday, it was taken the night he left. A photo of them kissing, they had actually been quite happy in that very moment. He haven’t realized he had been tracing his lips as if trying to feel where her lips had been. “Why the fuck’d I come back here.” He whispered breaking the silence. He rubbed the back of his head, before locking the door and making his way to the window.

He watched as Nikota headed straight for Kit’s dance studio. He despised that girl, the way she pranced like a little doe, the way she acted like she owned the world. He could see right through her. He wondered how her and Kittrina got a long, they were so different. He snuck his hands under the window pushing it up, allowing the rain drops to fall on the window sill. He cupped his hands around his mouth so that the next thing he yelled would be more audible.

“Hey Niki, why don’t you stop being such a bitch, don’t you think tattle telling is a bit below you.” He smirked when she flipped him off, letting him know she had heard him. He flopped down on his bed, sinking into the soft comforter. He really did love it here and he really did appreciate Mr. D’ Angelo, but he was already used to being so disrespectful to everyone, he wasn’t sure he could change for anyone. He pulled a small baggie from his pocket, smirking a bit seeing five joints, holding them up as if he’d won some kind of contest. He sat up pulling one from the baggie before stuffing the remaining joints between the two mattresses. He stood making his way to his old desk, pulling out the top drawer. “Hello old friend.” He said grabbing the lighter, he struck the back watching the flame dance to life as he lit the joint, taking a long drag, coughing harshly as he let the smoke out.

“Here’s to the beginning of hell.” He glanced out the window, taking another drag, letting the flavor of the marijuana stain his mouth before blowing the smoke out again.

Kitty's studio was her ultimate escape. When she wasn't competing, or training hard, when she wasn't riding bare-back and free on Lion or Velvet, or when she wasn't drunk or high at some party, Kitty was in her studio. It was a beautiful building that she'd designed herself. The bottom floor was one enormous dace studio, mirrors all around and a kick ass speaker system, and the top floor was all ceiling-to-floor sliding-glass doors, save for one wall. Her painting wall, which she added to everytime she was feeling inspired. Surrounding the entire top floor of the building was a large balcony. This balcony, on one side, stretched out over the pastures. That way, if she wanted to, she could sit outside to paint, right over her where her horses were grazing.

This studio was where Kitty went when she wanted to be alone, but not plagued by fear. This studio was the only place she allowed herself to feel. Anywhere else, it was too dangerous. With a pencil or brush in her hand, or with music moving her body, her emotions made sense, and they didn't destroy. They allowed her to create.

No one was allowed in her studio save for her, and no one had ever seen the inside but her. Should she let someone in to see it's contents, it would be like looking into her soul, and seeing everything she'd ever felt. They'd see her paintings, and her drawings, and they'd pass judgement on her.

So there was one key, and one way in. One time, a ranch-hand had broken into her studio out of curiosity, and he was fired on the spot.

Kitty! A scream in her head broke Kittrina from her deep concentration. Emotions instantly went back in their vault, and she dropped her paintbrush, panting rapidly.

Realizing where she was, she picked her brush back up, and set it on her easel, standing, she walked to the railing of the balcony and looked over. There, below her, was her horse King Lionheart. Fuck Lion! She shot back angrily. You trying to kill me?

I just thought I'd let you know that it's about to rain. He said with a casual toss of his mane before going back to his grazing, as though her rudeness hadn't fazed him. Kitty looked up at the sky above her and, for the first time, noticed it's color. She'd been in her studio literally all day that day, as she'd woken up in a horrible mood, and she'd started a painting. Once she started, there was no pulling her out of her work. There could be a tornado whirling around her, and she probably wouldn't even notice.

Kitty raised her hand to her face. Her cheeks were wet. She sighed and went back to her painting, pulling up her paint-flecked t-shirt to wipe her cheeks. It wasn't uncommon for her to cry while she painted. She usually did it without even noticing.

Kit looked at the painting for a moment. It was a black and white depiction of a skull. Melting as though it was on fire. She tilted her head to one side, than the other, and finally decided she liked it before picking it up gently off the easel.

She went back over to the side of the railing and spotted Damien below, in the pastures. "D!" She shouted down to him. "Put my horses away!" He nodded and started to herd her four horses back towards the barn, just as it started to rain, causing her to duck quickly inside.

She placed her painting against the right wall of her studio, in front of a ton of other paintings, before heading down to the lower level of the building. It was pouring, so she couldn't paint outside anymore, but she could still dance.

Kitty walked over to her stereo and flicked on her music, taking a second to listen to it's slow, sad, but beautiful rhythm before she moved, allowing her body to follow the song. She moved across the floor with slow, fluid movements, and when the song ended, she dropped to the wooden floor, panting.

After a second, she stood and walked over to the stereo, about to start more music when she saw something out the sliding glass door and turned around, walking over to it.

Not really caring about the rain, she threw the door open and stepped out, watching her step-sister bounce across the yard towards her. Kitty smiled. It shocked her how much she liked her step-sister, but the something about her just clicked with Kit and they were the best of friends.

"“Hey Niki, why don’t you stop being such a bitch, don’t you think tattle telling is a bit below you?” A shout froze her voice in her throat from where she was going to call out to Niki. She'd know that voice anywhere, but here, it didn't make any sense. Was she seeing things again? Oh dear god, please not that again. When she was fifteen, she'd been in the hospital for a while, and they had her so doped up on meds, she was always seeing and hearing things. Even for a week after she got out. But that had been two years ago.

She looked up at the house, catching his face in one of the windows, just before it disappeared. His old window. Maybe she was hallucinating then? But... If she was going to hallucinate about him, why would she imagine him yelling at Niki? It made no sense.

Her attention turned back to her step-sister when the girl finally reached her, and one look at her face told her all she needed to know. Kittrina's heart filled with fire. So she wasn't hallucinating. She'd really seen him.

"Fuck!" She cursed, gripping her sister's shoulder for a second while she balanced herself. She couldn't believe it. Who brought him back? Niki would never do that to her, and her mother sure as hell wouldn't... It had to be her step-father. She liked him, but he'd also always liked Jessie and he seemed to be the only one, so he was the only one who could have done it.

Kitty looked at Niki briefly, well aware of the fact that she was getting wet, before stalking back into her studio, and grabbing her cigarettes, sunglasses, and studio key. She shoved the glasses on top of her wet head, tossed the cigarettes in her back pocket, and stalked back out into the rain, slamming the door hard behind her and locking it with the key before putting it in her pocket with the cigarettes. She had thought about what she'd say to him if she ever saw him again maybe a thousand times, but now that she was faced with it... She wasn't sure, however, she wasn't about to hide herself away. No, she was going to go in there and raise some serious hell.

"May not want to go in for a bit." She said as she walked briskly past her step-sister. "Damien's in the barn if you want to go talk to him or something." She shouted over her shoulder, before she slammed the door to the house as hard as she could behind her.

She was dripping wet, her long hair clinging to her, wearing a pair of shorts and a t-shirt she only wore when she painted because of the fact that they were so paint-covered, and yet, she didn't care. All that mattered was that Jessie was back, and, that she hated him. Hopefully. She'd spent a year getting her hatred together for this, she wasn't about to let her knees go weak at the sight of him now.

Kitty walked right into the center of the house where Dustin, her step-father, and her mother were standing. "What the Hell guys?!" She hissed before marching up the stairs hand kicking his door open violently. Smoke hit her in the face and she coughed once. He was sitting there, smoking a joint.

She rolled her eyes and pulled it out of his fingers, taking a drag before throwing it out the window. "What the fuck are you doing here?" She hissed, her voice dangerously low.

Damien had always felt the best when he worked. One reason was because it was nice to know you earned what you had. A concept he'd never had growing up. A concept Mr. D'Angelo had taught him. Another reason was that he was able to blow off steam, and think rationally. Able to keep himself from doing something stupid.

Now, he was working for the second reason. Because he'd had a huge fight with Jamie that morning. He'd woken up to a sunny morning, rolled over, and seen her lying there. She'd been perfect. The sun hit her just right so that her blond hair glowed like a halo on the pillow and her wedding ring on her finger glared in his vision.

He'd smiled and rolled over on top of her kissing her once gently on the neck, and once on the lips. "Morning baby." He grinned, and she grinned back, pushing him off gently and sliding out of the bed.

It all went down hill the moment she'd opened her mouth. Because she started talking about kids. Again. For the millionth time that week. He'd groaned and tossed himself back, but listened to her long list of: "good reasons to have kids", before he rolled his eyes ans started arguing.

He didn't want kids just yet. They'd only been married for a year, and he wanted to be in a nicer home of his own before he worried about raising a child, not living on Mr. D'Angelo's land. As nice as it was, he still felt bad sometimes. As though he was taking advantage of the D'Angelo family.

Their debate quickly heated up. Things were said that really shouldn't have been said, and he'd stalked out of the house feeling as though he needed to punch his fist through a wall.

Instead, he set off to work, so now, he was diligently working at repainting the barn, as he'd been doing so all day, thinking about the fight and feeling that familiar pang of guilt mixed with anger, deep in his stomach. He loved her, really, he did, but sometimes he felt like she was asking too much, too fast. It was her that had proposed to him. Not the other way around. And they'd hardly known each other three months before they got married. Most couples waited at least two or three years.

A raindrop broke Damien's concentration, landing on his cheek and making him look up at the sky. "Fuck." He cursed. He'd painted for nothing. It was about to start pouring, judging by the sky, and in a moment, all his hard work would be washed away.

He rolled his eyes and climbed down from the roof, taking a drink from the beer on the ground before throwing it out and walking away, cutting through the pastures towards the house. Jamie cooked for the family, so, not all the farm-hands ate dinner with them, but Damien and her did.

"D!" A shout from above made him look up to see Kittrina, standing on the balcony of her art studio, so he stopped. "Put my horses away!" Damien looked around to see that Kitty had every single one of her horses out and groaned quietly, but nodded before heading towards the closest one, Lion.

One by one, he coaxed them all in until it came to her horse Velvet Masquerade. The horse was always a stubborn shit head, but this time, he actually went in without too much kicking and rearing.

Damien was soaking wet by time he was done, and it was coming down hard. Outside, he heard door slamming and brief shouting, so he went to the door to see Kitty dashing into the house, leaving Niki outside. He wondered if they'd had a fight, though it was unlikely.

From what he could tell, since he'd come back, the two were pretty much best friends, and had yet to fight.

Damien looked at the sky. The rain was coming down hard on the roof, so he decided he'd just hang out in the barn with the horses for a little, hoping maybe it would let up just enough for him to make a run for the house to get dinner, and see what was going on.

Nikota didn’t have to warn her sister, Jessie had done that himself when he’d yelled after her. She watched her sister’s face and the anger behind her eyes. She took her sister’s warning and normally she would have followed her regardless, but this wasn’t her fight. This was something Nikota couldn’t protect her from, even though something inside her desperately wanted to. She let out a small sigh as her sister walked past her and she was too caught up in her own thoughts to her what her sister had said before slamming the door shut.

A small rumble finally brought the realization to Niki that once again she was becoming soaked. She let out a frustrated groan. Before deciding to head into the barn, more or less because she was to lazy to walk all the way back up to the house and secondly because she didn’t really feel like hearing the screaming match that was inevitable. Once she was inside the large indoor barn she let out a breath of relief. She headed straight for the office, flipping on the music and letting it drift through the barns high tech sound system, it was just loud enough to drown out the world that lay just outside. She had been the last one to listen to music in the barn and she smiled when one of her favorite slow jams started slowly. She pulled a pack of cigarettes, from her father’s drawer lighting it and taking a drag. Her father would kill her if he knew she’d picked up the nasty habit of smoking.

She left the office and made her way down one of the isle, stalls lined on either side. not this damn song again, fuck Nik it gets old. she heard Macho Man growl as she walked past his stall. “Love you to Macho.” She blew him a kiss at which he shook his head as if disgusted. She did this quite often. Much like how Kitty would disappear into her art studio she would disappear into the stables late at night after all the stable hands had gone home and listen to her music, while she smoked and was left alone with her thoughts. It was safe to say she had become quite the insomniac since her mother had passed and the nightmares started.

She took another long drag from her cigarette, before freezing spotting Damien. “Shit” she mumbled flicking the half burned cigarette to the ground and stomping it out with the toe of her black converse. busted Macho snickered.

Mr. D’ Angelo sighed when his daughter came bursting through the door, she could hat him all she wanted, but when it came to someone he cared about needing him the circumstances didn’t matter. He still wasn’t exactly happy about what Jessie had done to Kitty, but that was beside the point. He had expected her to explode. Dustin sighed shaking his head a bit “Well, I guess that’s my cue.” He said shaking hands politely with Mr. D’Angelo before making a B line for the door. “Kittrina, please calm down.” Her mother called after her. “Just let them work it out.” Mr. D’ Angelo said kissing his wife gently as they made their way to their bedroom.
Jessie laid on the bed enjoying his joint, before hearing the door bust open causing him to jump up, not in fear but more in defiance. Before he had the chance to react or say anything, his ex had snatched his joint and thrown it out the window. “Wow, Kitten real mature.” He said irritated, he shook his head pushing her from his view a little rougher then he meant almost causing her to fall on the bed. He made his way to close the door, slamming it shut before turning back around to face her.

H lead against the wall in his cool, careless way. Like he had no one to answer to, nothing to worry about. His dark hair falling just slightly in his. He glared her through his hair, remaining silent for a moment as if waiting for her to make the next move, but it was no surprise that he grew impatient.

“What the fuck am I doing here?” he repeated quietly, he could feel his anger rising, something about the two being together was just a bad combination of rage and hormones. “Fuck you.” He said harshly. He knew she was upset, he could see it even though she was doing her best to hide it, it shown through. He could still read her like an open book, maybe the only person in the world that could. “I told you Kitten, I told you not to fall for me.” He said as if that was going to mend what was broken, he was making an excuse for his leave of absence, without so much as a goodbye. The room went silent again and a loud clash of thunder rumbled the windows. The thunder outside matched the anger between the two.

“I’m not here to mend your broken heart. I’m here cause I have no other choice. You really think I would have come back if I had another fucking choice. When I left
I thought I left for good.” He wanted to take back the words almost as soon as he’d said them, they sounded so cruel even in his own ears. But, he didn’t show a single ounce of remorse. “Grow up Kitty, move on.” He added in a hush tone, trying to calm himself.

“Wow, Kitten real mature.” He said as he stood, shoving her out of his way. She stumbled back slightly, but caught herself before she hit the bed. Her eyes narrowed when he called her Kitten. As far as he knew, she hated that name. It made her sound like a possession. A pet. Which, no doubt he liked, but she had always made a big deal out of it, even though a part of her secretly liked that he though of her as his. Her eyes followed him as he slammed the door shut, then turned to face her.

He leaned back cooly on the wall, which infuriated her, though she remained the same on the outside. She wished it was sunny out so she could have an excuse to wear her sunglasses. She didn't want him to see her eyes. She smirked at him, standing there so casually as though he was waiting for her to talk, but she only raised an eyebrow, knowing he was impatient and give up.

“What the fuck am I doing here?” He repeated quietly, but she had caught it, and she leaned back slightly, waiting for him to answer her question. “Fuck you.” He shot back at her. It was harsh, but she was ready for it. It was like they were dating again, and she was prepared for all his blows because she knew it wouldn't mean anything later. Only this time... it would. There were no sorrys this time. No make ups. Only what they said to eachother now.

“I told you Kitten, I told you not to fall for me.” He said, and let it hang there between them while thunder rattled the windows. As though God himself was cheering them on, planning the angry weather to match their angry voices. “I’m not here to mend your broken heart. I’m here cause I have no other choice. You really think I would have come back if I had another fucking choice. When I left
I thought I left for good.” She had to admit. That one hurt her, and for a brief second, she allowed herself to feel that hurt, before, just as quickly as it had come, she replaced it with anger again. “Grow up Kitty, move on.”

She could tell he was done, so she glanced at the window, trying to come up with something to say back. A perfect way to express what she was feeling. "You know..." She said, taking out a cigarette and lighting up, a nasty habit she'd picked up since he'd left. She'd picked up a lot of those lately. "You're a lying asshole Jessie, and you've got it wrong." She laughed lightly, her anger rising. "What is it you think I've been doing since you left? Sitting curled up in my room sobbing over you?" She rolled her eyes and took a drag off her cigarette, not even bothering to stand by the window to hide the smoke like she normally would. Her step-father or mother wouldn't think anything of it, seeing as this was Jessie's room.

"And don't pretend you didn't fucking feel anything!" She hissed, stepping closer, watching his eyes. He wasn't the only one who could read emotions. She'd felt everything there was to feel, and she knew how to see them in others. Especially Jessie. "I'm over you Jessie. Yeah. It hurt at first, but I'm done with you. You're a dick. Nothing more." She knew the words were rough, but she didn't care. He'd done the same thing to her.

"I'm not here so you can kiss me and take me back, and tell me why you left and that you're sorry." She stepped closer again, this time, merely inches apart. She wanted him to feel that, for her, there was nothing between them anymore but anger, so she pushed back all of her doubts, stood straight, and let her hatred for him show clearly. "I'm here because I want to know why the fuck you came back?"

Music started playing in the barn, and Damien turned to see who was there, though he already knew. It was Nikota, judging by the music. At night, sometimes he'd work late and he'd be outside, listening to her music play as he worked. He knew she came out here late to just be with the horses.

He could no longer hear the rain on the barn roof, but he knew it was there. He turned, watching silently as she wandered down the stalls. She said something to one of her horses, and blew it a kiss, though he couldn't hear what. She was holding a cigarette in her hand, and that made him raise his eyebrows. He'd known Nikota since she was four. He'd been there when her family had been destroyed, but he never knew she smoked, and wondered when she'd started.

He had left just after that, taking the death and tragedy hard, and he'd regretted it ever since. He should have stayed to help the family through it. Not let the Paul's move in on his place and do it for him. He couldn't exactly put a finger on what it was, but he hated that boy Dustin. He was always bothering Niki, and he acted to much like a lonely puppy dog.

A man should find a way to let the women come to him. Not clamber after them like a love-starved pet.

He smiled she she spotted him and froze. "Shit." She whispered and stamped out the cigarette quickly. He laughed slightly. "Relax Nik, I'm not gonna tell on you." He liked to be honest with Mr. D'Angelo, but he also knew how to keep a secret. They didn't know it, but he'd been keeping the D'Angelo girl's secrets for a while now.

He knew about Kitty's new founded bad habits, and Niki's mother's death. He wasn't a rat. Their business was their business. He smiled and pulled out two cigarettes, handing one to her and lighting it for her, and taking one for himself. "Not hungry?" He asked, gesturing to the house. "Jamie's probably making diner in there."

The song ended and the next song started, yet another one of Niki’s favorite slow jams. She knew the lyrics by heart and sang along in her head. "Relax Nik, I'm not gonna tell on you." she heard Damien say and she raised a brow deciding whether or not to trust him. He pulled out two cigarettes offering her one. She hesitated but took it “I’ll kill you if you tell, you know that right.” She teased, though there was a touch of seriousness to her voice. She used to know Damien, before he’d left after her mother had passed, he used to be like a big brother to her. But, when he’d come back, he was different, she was different and their relationship was nothing but business, at this point she could guarantee Kit and Damien had a closer relationship.

"Not hungry?" she heard him ask "Jamie's probably making diner in there." She rolled her eyes, she’d never been to found of Jamie, she tried acting way to much like her mother. She was to sweet, too happy all the time. “No offence, but Jamie can’t cook.” She said in an honest tone. “I feel bad for you.” She smirked, taking a drag from the cigarette. She leaned against an empty stall. “Just between you and I
” she paused debating whether or not she should say what she was thinking “you could do better than her, don’t you get tired of Holly Homemaker.” She asked genuinely curious. She knew she’d probably crossed the line, but she wasn’t exactly the type of girl to think before speaking.

“You guys make me want to throw up sometimes.” She admitted and that was partly because, deep down she had been crushing on Damien since he’d come back. She was pissed off when he left and came back married and in all honesty this was probably the first time she’d carried on more than two words with him in over a year. “What the hell happened to you DJ?” the words escaped in a whisper though loud enough for him to hear, she hadn’t called him DJ in years and she wondered if he’d even remember that’s what she use to call him when she was little. She knew that question definitely crossed the line, but she didn't feel the need to apologize, it was the truth, just just wondered why she cared so much to ask. She let her ears tune back into the music that she had forgot was playing. She didn't bother to look at him as she took another drag from her cigarette.

He stood their unwavering from his cool, collected posture, letting her lash out just like he had. He wasn’t mad at her he had nothing to be mad at her about, to be completely honest looking at her now, how beautiful she was, he hated himself for leaving, but it was all he knew how to do. This fight brought back memories, he let his mind wonder for only a moment. He smirked as she spoke mocking her, it was something they did to each other often it was safe to they loved to piss each other off. Her words hurt, because he could her the torment in her voice. "I'm here because I want to know why the fuck you came back?" he heard her finally say and he hadn’t realized how close she had gotten.

The room went silent after her question and as if ashamed he let his head hang. Taking a breath. Then letting it back out. He owed her that much
didn’t he? He was always fighting an inner battle with his self, whether or not to be bad or good, more often than not bad was his finally decision. He lifted his eyes till they meet hers, he reached down lifting up his pant leg to revel the house arrest device around his ankle, once he saw her eyes glance down to it he dropped the leg and crossed his arms in front of him. “Drug Possession, Assault, Theft, Attempted murder
” he spoke not explaining himself simply reading off a list. “That’s why.” He ended a dark cloud hung over the room, silence overtook once more.

A cocky, taunting smile played on his lip, which meant one thin, he wanted to prove something. He reached out grabbing her wrist and pulling her to him, gripping her tightly around the waist. The heat rose from the back of his neck to his cheeks and for a moment them being this close again he decided wasn’t exactly the best idea he’d ever had. He fumbled for the door knob, finally throwing the door open and pushing her out the door. In all honesty if he had let her stay there any longer he would have been the one to crack and kiss her. He wasn’t ready for that, he didn’t want her to put up with his shit anymore then he already had. For once in his life he was putting her before his own selfish wants, but of course she wouldn’t know that, she would just think he was being an asshole, like normal. He stood blocking the door way. “You got your answer princess, scram.” He winked.

The room was quiet for a moment, and he hung his head. She almost stepped back in shock, wondering if she'd gotten to him. He never gave up first. It was always her giving up when they fought. He was the only person in the world that could win a fight with her. Then his eyes met hers and she realized, he hadn't given up, he was just thinking over whether or not he wanted to tell her.

He lifted the leg of his jeans just enough to reveal the little house arrest anklet he had on before dropping it again and looking at her, crossing his arms. “Drug Possession, Assault, Theft, Attempted murder
” He listed, and it suddenly made sense to her. Of course he came back because he was in trouble. And of course her step-father let her. He was always taking in charity cases, trying to turn assholes into good men. He'd done that with Damien, it seemed Jessie was his latest little project. “That’s why.”

It was quiet again as she couldn't think of something she wanted to say, and honestly, didn't really want to. She was feeling the urge to just drop the fight again, just as she always did.

Then she looked at him and caught the taunting look on his face and her anger flared up again. What was it about him that always made her so angry? He'd been able to do the same thing back when they were dating. Give her a single look that both excited her, and pissed her off. Was this the way her mother had felt with all the assholes she'd dated?

No. That was different. Her mother never fought back, and Jessie had never truly hurt her, save for one time when he'd accidentally shoved her into a coffee table. Other than that though, shoving was as far as it went. He'd never punch her or anything.

The next thing she knew, his hand was around her wrist and he yanked her forward. She was startled, and he took her by surprise, so she didn't have time to stop her heart from racing, and her cheeks from blushing as he wrapped his arm around her waist and closed the distance between them.

He was doing it again. It infuriated her that he could make her feel so weak in the knees, and make her stumble over her words sometimes.

Then, just as quickly as he'd grabbed her, he threw the door open and pushed her out, and she had to admit that she felt a little disappointment that he hadn't kissed her. It took all her strength to keep herself from bringing her fingers to her lips. He stood in front of her, blocking the doorway. “You got your answer princess, scram,” he said, winking at her.

She raised her hand and slapped him as hard as she could, before pulling it back with a grin. "I've been waiting a long time to do that you know." She said with a smirk. "Life here is going to be Hell for you Jessie. You're not going to be able to just sit around and get high all the time. You'll have to actually work." She smirked, knowing he'd hate the idea of having to be around the horses. He'd always hated them. All animals for that matter.

"I’ll kill you if you tell, you know that right?” She teased, but he just chuckled. He had no doubt in his mind that she would. He watched as she rolled her eyes in response to his question. He'd had his suspicions about her feelings on Jamie, but they'd never really been confirmed until now.

“No offence, but Jamie can’t cook.” He chuckled and shrugged. “I feel bad for you.” True, Jamie wasn't the best cook ever, but her food was decent. Mrs. D'Angelo was an even worse cook, so Jamie was all they had, and Mr. D'Angelo refused to hire a real cook for reasons that most didn't know, but Damien suspected it was because of him. So he would have to eat dinner with them like part of the family. Mr. D'Angelo had always considered him apart of their family, and so he insisted on treating him like one, no matter how much Damien resisted.

It's not that he didn't want to be part of their family, or that he didn't consider Mr. D'Angelo to be like a father, it's more that he was uncomfortable with people just handing him things. That was why him and Jamie had gotten married in secret. They knew Mr. D'Angelo would want to throw a big, expensive event.

"Just between you and I
” She continued, and he waited as she paused. “You could do better than her, don’t you get tired of Holly Homemaker?” The question took him kind of by surprise, so he didn't answer right away, allowing her time to go on. “You guys make me want to throw up sometimes.” He sighed, about to answer when he heard her whisper. “What the hell happened to you DJ?” That shocked him. That she'd called him by her old nickname for him. Ever since he'd come back, she'd pretty much avoided him at every turn. And now he knew why. She was hurt by the fact that he'd left, and upset that he'd come back and married right away.

He let out a sigh of smoke as he though over her questions, taking the last one kind of personally. He'd always regretted leaving her and her family, and now she'd tossed it in his face. He deserved it though. "I don't know." He shrugged. "I guess I took your mother's death pretty hard." He said honestly, looking at her. He'd never really talked about his disappearance with anyone. "She was like a mother to me too Nik. And I got into a lot of drinking because of it, and I didn't want you guys to see me that way. You had your own problems to fix. You didn't need to worry about trying to fix me too." He shrugged and thought for a second about her other words. About Jamie. "And yeah, I guess I get kind of exhausted by Jamie sometimes, but being in love isn't easy. You'll understand when you get there." He said, looking at her.

”I don’t know” his answer pissed her off, but she stayed calm on the outside biting the inside of her cheek. "I guess I took your mother's death pretty hard.” She heard him say “She was like a mother to me too Nik. And I got into a lot of drinking because of it, and I didn't want you guys to see me that way. You had your own problems to fix. You didn't need to worry about trying to fix me too." this only mad her anger rise, she wasn’t the type to lose her cool so easy, maybe it was the combination of the weather and seeing Jessie, that was making her so irritable. She clinched her fist and jaw almost at the same time. She shook her head not wanting to hear anything else he had to say “but being in love isn't easy. You'll understand when you get there." but those words pushed her over the edge.

“Don’t treat me like I’m some little kid who doesn’t understand love.” Her voice raised a little louder than normal. “Firstly, running off to Vegas to tie the knot after only a few months of knowing someone doesn’t exactly spell out love.” She knew that was harsh and she felt bad, but she was already mad and once she was mad it was just an avalanche of hurtful words and phrases. “And, secondly you want to give me the excuse that you left because she was like a mother to you
she WAS my mother and your forgetting one small fact D, I was there. If you or anyone only knew what they did too me that night...” She stopped breathing heavily, the memories creeping back on her. She hadn’t realized she had started crying and she wiped her tears with her sweater sleeve. Taking a slow drag from her cigarette.

“You just don’t get it do you. You have a family who loves you, my dad might as well be you biological father. He talks about you like you’re a saint.” She said almost envious “Stop running, you have nothing to run from.” She chocked back ears “Your scars are internal, be thankful.” She breathed. The music the only sound breaking the silence and that she was grateful for. She was right about the fact that she wasn’t a child, she may be only sixteen, but she was wiser than most her age.

He barely showed any expression when she slapped him, his face burned and stung, but he smirked as if he had enjoyed the pain. "I've been waiting a long time to do that you know." her words only turned his smirk into a full smile. “Glad I could help you fulfill your dreams” he said leaning with his arm in the door way leaving the tattoo of her nickname completely visible on the side of his hand as if showing it of purposely wanting her to see it, but he had forgotten it was even there. "Life here is going to be Hell for you Jessie. You're not going to be able to just sit around and get high all the time. You'll have to actually work."

“I can’t wait, as long as you’re there to keep me company hell sounds like a dream.” He said kissing at her lazily. “Actually working, ha, doubt it. D’s got my back. You seem to be the only one who doesn’t like me, well you and drama queen, but she doesn’t count.” He teased. It was obvious the tone between them had lightened, at least for the moment. This was how they functioned, possibly the only way they knew how. His attrition was diverted when he heard someone coming up the stairs, his eyes falling behind a peppy blonde, who appeared behind Kit.

“Hiya
er sorry for interrupting.” She quickly corrected herself. “Jamie told me to come upstairs and grab you two love birds, dinners ready.” Olive smiled at the both of them. Jessie smirked glancing back down to Kittrina, then back to Olive “Hey cupcake, aren’t you a pretty thing.” He said winking at the girl. She bit her lip giggling a bit. “Love birds, ha, that’s funny.” He said as he closed the door behind him making his way passed Kittrina down the stairs. He stopped half way looking back up at Kit “Hey babe, you coming or what.” His tone was taunting, before he made his way down the rest of the stairs and rounded into the kitchen.

“Don’t treat me like I’m some little kid who doesn't understand love.” She said, obviously irritated by what he'd said. “Firstly, running off to Vegas to tie the knot after only a few months of knowing someone doesn't exactly spell out love.” He winced a little on that one. He loved Jamie... Or at least he'd thought he had at the time. Lately, with all her baby talk, he just wasn't sure. It's like she'd changed after they'd married. “And, secondly you want to give me the excuse that you left because she was like a mother to you
she WAS my mother and your forgetting one small fact D, I was there. If you or anyone only knew what they did too me that night...” He looked over at her, catching the tears on her cheeks, and was hit harshly by them more than her words. She was there that night, and they'd scared her internally, and externally, then he'd just left her. He should have stayed behind for her and her father.

“You just don’t get it do you. You have a family who loves you, my dad might as well be you biological father. He talks about you like you’re a saint.” He caught a hint of envy in her voice. “Stop running, you have nothing to run from. Your scars are internal, be thankful.”

The music filled the silence for a moment, and he turned to face her, gently wiping the tears from her cheeks. "I know you're not a little kid Nikota, but from what I can tell, you haven't been in love yet. That kid Dustin doesn't count." He shook his head. "Maybe you're right, maybe I haven't been in love yet either. And I should have stayed for you guys. I've regretted leaving every day of my life." He sighed softly, knowing that his words wouldn't make up for what he'd done, but hoping maybe they would help. At least a little.

"And I respect your father more than anyone. I'd die for him. He changed my life Kota," he said, using his old nickname for her. "I'm not running from him, I'm..." He hesitated. What was it he was doing? "I'm trying to find out a way to pay him back. For everything he's done for me."

The sound of someone clearing their throat behind him, made Damien turn. Instantly, he took Niki's cigarette from her hand and threw his on the ground so it would look like he was the one smoking. Not her. It was Jamie.

"Diner's ready baby." She said with a smile, coming over and kissing him right on the lips. He felt a little bad, though he wasn't sure why. She was his wife right? He should be able to kiss her when he wanted and not feel guilty. Nevertheless, he did for some reason. "I knew you'd be out here." She said when she pulled away. "I'm so sorry for fighting earlier, but I have some big news, and I want to announce it to everyone at diner." She then looked at Nikota as though realizing she was there for the first time. "Come one honey, let's eat." She said turning away, tugging at Damien's hand, so he followed her into the house.

At the table were Mr. & Mrs. D'Angelo, Olive, Kitty coming down the stairs, and... Jessie? He couldn't keep the shocked expression from his face. Why was he back? Damien had never totally hated the kid. He'd actually kind of like him, he'd reminded him somewhat of himself when he was younger, but he hadn't like what he'd done to Kit. "Well that explains the yelling." He said as he sat in his seat next to his wife.

“I can’t wait, as long as you’re there to keep me company hell sounds like a dream.” He said, shooting her a lazy kiss. She simply rolled her eyes. “Actually working, ha, doubt it. D’s got my back. You seem to be the only one who doesn't like me, well you and drama queen, but she doesn't count.”

She actually smiled at that one. He'd never really liked Niki, and he was always making fun of her. When it got really bad, Kit would step up and shut him up, but him standing here making fun of his step-sister reminded her so much of how they used to be, she couldn't help but chuckle a little bit, ignoring that part of her that was irritated at his cockiness, and giving into the part that liked his sarcasm.

She looked him over for things that were different since she'd lest seen him, and that was when she saw it. The tattoo on his hand reading: Kitten. She let her eyes glaze past it as though she hadn't seen it, but she was startled. That wasn't there when they were dating, meaning he had to have gotten it after he left. She struggled between happiness and fear. What if he still had feelings for her?

“Hiya
er sorry for interrupting.” A voice behind her made her cringe. She knew who it belonged to. Olive. The bimbo her mother had hired. “Jamie told me to come upstairs and grab you two love birds, dinners ready.” Kitty turned and glared at Olive's all-too-kind smile. She hated the girl. Stupid people who couldn't think for themselves and were too dense to recognize sarcasm annoyed the living hell out of her.

“Hey cupcake, aren't you a pretty thing?” Jessie said from behind her, making Kitty hate her all the more. “Love birds, ha, that’s funny.” He closed the door and pushed past her, heading down the stairs after Olive before stopping to look at her again. “Hey babe, you coming or what?”

Her eyes flashed angrliy, and she was about to yell at him for calling her babe when he turned away and continued down the stairs so she just groaned and followed after him, taking a seat aggressively at the table, glaring at Jessie and Olive as Jamie passed out food and said that she and Damien had a big announcement to make once everyone started eating.

She had nearly stopped breathing when he’d reached up and whipped her reaming tears. His touch was soft and genuine. She hated herself for having broken down in front of him, she had been doing so good. She watched as he took the cigarette from her, to hide the fact that she was smoking. She smiled a little at the gesture. She glanced to Jamie who wrapped her arms around his neck kissing him right in front of her. Jealousy, rose in her and she really wanted to punch Jamie in the face after she pulled away and called her honey, and just like that she was dragging Damien away. Leaving her there, she could see the rain had let up outside.

Kota huh, how sweet. she heard Macho Man tease
“Shut it Macho” she yelled. Making her way into the office flipping off the music before heading up to the house. Just in time to catch her sister coming down the stairs, she followed behind her sitting at her normal spot across from Damien, never in her life had she wanted to sit somewhere else so badly. Her father sat at the head of the table, Jamie passing out food, ruffling Niki’s hair like she was a little kid as she walked by. It took everything in Nikota not to break her wrist, she shot Damien a look, rolling her eyes before glancing around the table. “This ought to be interesting.” She whispered more to herself.

Once everyone was sat at the table Mr. D’ Angelo, smiled as he started to speak. “Friday is the 7th annual Summer party” he began, his accent thick. “I expect everyone to help in finishing the preparations.” He shot a look to Jessie who simply rolled his eyes. The Annual summer party was something Nikot’s mother had started and her father had continued, it was to raise money for local charities and for the community to get together. There was always lots of dancing, alcohol, and drama.

Jessie sat comfortably with his arm lazily rested on the back of Olive’s chair. “Great, the annual hillbilly bash, was hopping I’d miss it this year.” He teased “I guess it won’t be too bad, lots of girls so I guess that’s a plus.” He said taking a drink of his coke. Not waiting for anyone else, digging into the food as if he’d hadn’t had a meal in years.

“So what’s the big news, Jamie?” he glanced over to the blonde, not really caring but not wanting there to be any kind of awkward pauses he was good for situations like that. “You and Foxy finally going to have a real wedding? Maybe moving out, please oh please don’t take Foxy away.” He laughed at his own sarcasm. He acted as though he’d never left falling back into his normal routine, Jessie was that way, he always made it seem like the past was no big deal. “Whatever it is just spit it out you been bragging about it for the past ten minutes.” He said shoveling food into his mouth.
“Yes, please do share the news.” Mr. D’ Angelo cut in tired of hearing Jessie’s mouth full of food language.

“Friday is the 7th annual Summer party” Her step-father said, and Kitty smiled. She loved parties. “I expect everyone to help in finishing the preparations.” She hadn't missed his pointed look at Jessie, and laughed lightly, giving him and "i told you so" look.

“Great, the annual hillbilly bash, was hopping I’d miss it this year.” He said teasingly. She looked at her step-father, windering how much of Jessie's shit he'd put up with before finally kicking him to the curb. “I guess it won’t be too bad, lots of girls so I guess that’s a plus.” That made Kitty's eyes shoot back to him, and narrow dangerously, watching the way he sat, with his arm drapped across the back of Olive's chair. She hated it, only she couldn't say anything to him, for fear of appearing jealous.

However, she could take it out on Olive, so she looked at the girl. "Don't worry Olive," she said in a falsly sweet tone. "We'll find a job so easy even you could do it." She smirked, and her mother shot her a dangerous look, but Kit didn't care. The look on Olive's face was worth it, so she went back to focusing on her diner again, until Jessie once again started his rambling.

“So what’s the big news, Jamie? You and Foxy finally going to have a real wedding? Maybe moving out, please oh please don’t take Foxy away.” She rolled her eyes, irritated by the way the others chuckled. Especially Olive. Irritated by the way everyone was just letting him fit right back into the picture. As if he hadn't hurt her. She was one more sarcastic comment from taking her diner out to her studio. Or the stables. “Whatever it is just spit it out you been bragging about it for the past ten minutes.”

Again, everyone chuckled at Jessie, and that was it. Kitty nudged her step-sister next to her. "Let me know whatever it is Jamie says later." She said so only she could hear as she grabbed her plate and stood swiftly, leaving the room without a word.

Outside, she covered her plate from the rain and ran out to the stables where she sat pushed open the door to Velvet's stall and layed out a blanket before sitting on it and setting her plate down, staring at her food. What's up Kitty-Kat? Velvet asked and nudged her shoulder gently with his nose. She smiled softly at his kindness and scratched between his ears like he'd always liked. Jessie's back. And as much of an asshole as ever. She said back and leaned back against the stall, letting out a shuttering sigh.

They were creeping up on her again. Those stupid emotions she always tried to choke down everytime the topic turned to Jessie. Fear, longing, pain, abandonment, regret, and worst of all... Love. She still loved him, as much as she hated to admit it. Kitty closed her eyes and opened her mind to Velvet, allowing him to feel what was coursing through her. Oh crap. He said and she nodded.

Yeah. Tell me about it. She said back, shaking her head slightly.

Damien smiled as Jamie settled into the seat next to him and he leaned over and kissed her cheek slightly. He caught Niki's look and shrugged back at her in a "what can ya do?" kind of way.

Mr. D'Angelo started talking about the party, and Jessie made a few jokes, making everyone laugh, and Kitty stood and stomped off. Besides Kit's exit, it felt like a real family diner, and it was nice.

He smiled and turned to Jamie, their fight earlier that morning forgotten as he squeezed her hand. "Yeah, what's this big news you have for us?" He asked, excited to know what she had to tell him.

"Remember our discussion this morning?" She said with a wide grin, and Damien's smile disappeared and his heart sunk. Argument was more like it. "Discussion" was not the right word to explain it, but he just shrugged it off. That meant this news was going to have something to do with children. Hopefully it was one of her friends having a child... Not her as he now feared.

He rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly nervous. "Uh, yeah, annnnnd...?" He asked, looking into her eyes, mentally willing her not to say what he guessed was coming next.

She grinned, a beaming, dazzling grin and looked around the table at everyone. "I'm pregnant!" She squealed, and Damien groaned, dropping his face into his hands briefly before grabbing her hand and yanking her from the table.

"Excuse us a moment." He said as he dragged her from the room.

Out in the hall, he threw his hands up. "What the fuck Jamie?!"

"What?" She pouted. "You're... Not excited?"

He rolled his eyes. "Was excited the tone you got from our argument this morning?!" He shouted and paced a small circle, his anger rising dangerously. "Anyway, that's not the point. I can't be angry at you for getting pregnant, nature does that. But I can be angry about the fact that you just dropped the bomb on me in front of everyone!" He shouted at her. "You should have told me first!" His anger had risen so high, he didn't even realize she was crying and he punched the wall next to her, making her dash back into the dinging room, leaving him alone and bitter in the hall.

She had willed herself to stay as Kitty left the room, fighting everything in her to follow her sister out. She had all but lost interest in the topics, replaying the words she’d said to Damien. She had drown out Jamie’s annoying excitement until she heard ”I’m Pregnant” her eyes widened and she looked straight at Damien who was already pulling Jamie with him out of the room. The group stayed quit as they heard Damien’s yells and Jamie coming back to the kitchen collecting her stuff, balling her eyes out.

“Olive, go after Jamie.” Mr. D’ Angelo ordered “Now.” He raised his voice, something he didn’t do often. There wasn’t a lot that set Damien off, but when something did set him off it was like trying to tame a wild horse. Mr. D’ Angelo stood up “dinner’s going to be cut short.” He sighed making his way to where Damien was. Nikota stood up “Dad, I got it. He’s going to be hell on wheels right now, no offense but I think that person he wants to face is you.” She spoke truth, her father thought for a moment knowing that when he was pissed he could be quite violent, but nothing Nikota couldn’t handle, he nodded, he knew she was right and if anyone could calm him down it was oddly enough going to be Niki.

She rounded the corner, staring at him for a moment. She hadn’t seen him this angry in years, she blamed Jamie. Ever since they’d been together he’d seem to loses his temper more often. “Dad huh, Congrats.” She said sarcastically which probably wasn’t the best thing to start with. “Dad says I have to get you out of the house, before you do anymore damage, care to join me for a walk?” it wasn’t exactly a question. She turned on her heel and made her way towards the nearest exit. When she got outside the rain had all but stopped, what was left of the late afternoon sun played hide and seek with the remaining clouds. She waited, almost as if she knew he’d follow.

Jessie sighed at what had just happened he wasn’t exactly one to involve himself in others business, so he took Mr. D’ Angelo’s “Dinner’s going to be cut short” as a warning and made his way out he debated on heading back up stairs and crashing for the rest of the evening, but he couldn’t help but wonder where Kit had gone off to, he wanted to see her, he wanted to be near her. He couldn’t think of a reasonable excuse to go find her, then of course there was all the drama that had just taken place. He shrugged it was good enough reason for him to hunt her down and break the happy or not so happy news to her.

He made his way on to the front porch, glancing around a bit pulling the pack of cigarettes from his back pocket and lighting one. Before crossing the lawn, then the drive way to the stables, he pulled the barn door open quietly sneaking in. The barn was exactly the same, in fact not much had changed since he’d been her last. He took a long drag off his cigarette. He smirked a bit “Some mood music wouldn’t hurt.” He said to himself, the office was left open and he smirked slipping in, flipping through the CD case that was left in there. Deciding on a purple, burned CD with nothing written on it, popping it in.

The song started to play over the speakers, he let out a slightly irritated groan. “How fitting. Thanks for rubbing it in.” he said talking to himself. Shrugging he threw the CD case onto the desk, before exiting the office in search of Kittrina. “Hey Kitten, guess who’s pregnant.” He yelled throughout the barn, too lazy to search for her any longer. Leaning up against one of the empty stables.

Music started playing in the stables, and Kitty sighed, listening to the words, and the beat. Music was always comforting to her. It spoke to her in a way people never could.

“Hey Kitten, guess who’s pregnant.” Jessie's voice made her roll her eyes and stand, brushing herself off. She gave Velvet a kiss on the nose. Good luck. He said to her, and she smiled, stepping out of his stall and closing the door behind her a little roughly.

Silently, she crossed her arms in front of her and leaned against the wall next to the stable. She watched him, not saying anything for a moment. "Well let's hope it's not Olive. I feel bad for her kid if it is." She scoffed and rolled her eyes, already figuring it was probably Jamie, seeing as Olive wasn't seeing anyone, though it's not like that really mattered. Olive would do anything that smiled at her or called her pretty.

She watched Jessie, wondering what exactly had landed him here. He'd told her what he'd been charged with, but she wanted to know the whole story. And most of all, she wanted to know what he was thinking. She wanted to know if he was just as hurt and confused to see her as she was or if all his bullshit was true, and he was really done with her.

She wanted to know why he'd left her. Secretly, she'd blamed herself. She'd tried to change him too much maybe. They were always arguing, and he was always high or drunk, or in the panties of some other girl. Maybe she'd just pushed him too hard. Asked too much of him.

She sighed and took out a cigarette, getting angry again. Why had no one even warned her he was coming? If someone had warned her, she'd have made sure to make plans with some friends or go to a party, or something. So she wasn't here where all these feelings could get her. "Why don't you just leave again?" She said cruely, and regretted it as soon as she had. It would just be easier, that's why she'd said it. Not because she'd really felt it. Hopefully he would pick up the half-hearted way she'd said it and it wouldn't hurt him too much. If it did hurt him. Maybe he didn't even care anymore, like he'd said in his room.

Damien heard footsteps and whirled. It better not be Jamie, or he feared he may kill her. “Dad huh, Congrats.” It was Nikota, and Damien rolled his eyes. He wasn't exactly in the mood for sarcastic bullshit.

"Not in the mood Kota." He snarled, ready to punch something.

“Dad says I have to get you out of the house, before you do anymore damage, care to join me for a walk?” He could tell by the way she turned and walked off that she wasn't really asking. She was telling.

So he took a deep, calming breath and followed her out, walking slowly alongside her.

"Why wouldn't she tell me first?" He asked looking at her, shaking his head. He couldn't wrap his head around it. She was pregnant? He was going to be a father? He wasn't ready for that. No where near ready. He was just getting used to being married, let alone having a kid. He wasn't even sure he ever wanted kids.

He sighed and looked at Nikota, rubbing his hand over his eyes briefly. "Was I too hard on her?" He asked, figuring her brutally honest reply would do him some good. He needed to hear the truth, even though she'd probably just say no, seeing as she didn't really like Jamie anyway.

"I mean, she just dropped it on me. Right in front of everyone. Gave me no warning." He shook his head. Maybe he was being too hard on her. Judging by his reaction, she was probably afraid to tell him in private. Maybe she figured she was safer if she told him with people around, and that frightened Damien. She should feel safe around him. He was her husband. He was supposed to protect her, not frighten her.

"I feel like I've been making all the wrong moves since the day my mother died." He said shaking his head, exhausted. He wasn't sure why he was telling this to Niki. Afterall, they'd hardly spoken in the past year, but for some reason he felt like he needed to.

She let him vent she knew it was what he needed. They walk along the pasture walking quite a ways from the house. "Was I too hard on her?" he asked but still she remained quiet, and just like she’d assumed he’d continued. Then when he was finished, for once she thought about her words carefully. “When I was a kid, I use to know this really great guy.” She started “He wasn’t scared of anything and he told me once
that the worst mistake anyone can make is being afraid to make them.” She gave him a genuine cheer up smile “You also told, Mistakes were proof that we were trying.” She said as they continued their slow pace.

“Were you too hard on her?” she repeated his question “Yeah, but in all honesty she obviously doesn’t know you that well, or she would have known that you hate surprises.” She nudged him playfully. “and wasn’t it you who just told me love isn’t easy?” she stopped no longer wanting to walk walking over to one of the big willow trees, she turned back to him using her head gesturing for him to follow.

She lend against the large trunk of the willow tree, now hidden by the curtain of long tangled branches. It was where her mother used to read to her, it was beautiful, behind the curtain of long vine like branches. “Maybe, you and Jamie were doomed from the start. Kind of like Me and Dusty or Kitty and Jessie.” She sighed as she watched him come through drapes of tree vines. “Did you really mean it?” she started, almost in a taunting tone of voice “When you said you hadn’t been in love.” She paused for a moment, night had already fallen faster than normal due to the weather. It was hard to see his expression in the darkness. “You don’t love her do you?” she didn’t realize she had said the words aloud, she was thinking it, but she certainly didn’t meant to say it, but now that she had said it she was curious.

“You see I would leave, but” he gestured down to his ankle “Kind of can’t the big man’s my warden.” He teased. He watched her lift the cigarette to her lips and he honestly didn’t know who much more of this he could take, he’d give anything to have her again. “You know it wasn’t you.” He spoke softer than his normal cocky tone of voice, something he only did when they were alone. “It was never you Kitty, you gotta know that. I owe you that much.” As if he knew what she was thinking, it was his way of apologizing for leaving her. Although it was nowhere near close to an I’m sorry, he hoped that, that would at least make him feel better about what he done to her if nothing else.

He moved closer, quietly. He knew her well enough to know she wanted to know everything. Every damn detail of how he had gotten himself in so much trouble. A smile crept on to his lips at the thought. He flicked his cigarette having finished it. He debating spilling everything that had happened over the past year to her, but that would probably only worry her to know that he was a target of a rival gang or that he had seen his younger brother for the first time in three years and he was sure his dad was going to come looking for him. Death was going to have a field day when everything caught up with him. Just as the smile appeared it was gone as the bad thoughts replaced the good ones.

“Don’t worry Kittrina.” Her full name tasted bad his mouth, he rarely used it “I’ll be out of you perfect life as soon as this thing is taken off my ankle.” He said not in a mean way, but almost as a promise, not to hurt her anymore then he already had. “I’ll help you count down the days” he teased.

“You see I would leave, but, Kind of can’t the big man’s my warden.” Kit rolled her eyes and took a drag from her cigarette, not looking at him. She didn't want his stupid jokes. Or maybe she did. She didn't know anymore. She'd thought she'd hated him. After he'd left she hadn't eaten for almost three weeks. Cried herself to sleep for two, until she was so dehydrated she literally had no tears left. She'd almost starved to death.

Then, on the fourth week, Niki had come and talked to her, and made her realize that it was all his fault. And she'd gotten pissed. She'd broken Niki's window, and Damien had to fix it. After that, she told herself she was done feeling. The only things she let herself feel was anger and hatred. She didn't want to feel anything else.

So she picked up smoking, drinking, drugs, parties, boys. Everything. The whole nine yards. Now he was back and she'd lost the one thing she'd been sure of. That she hated him. Sure, part of her still did, but there was a very small part of her that wanted to feel again. And that annoyed her and only made her more angry. It was an irritating cycle.

“You know it wasn't you.” He said softly. His tone alone made her want to cry. It was rare that he was gentle and kind to her, and she didn't think she could handle that right now. So she kept her eyes on the floor, the ceiling, the horses. Anywhere but him, refusing to meet his eyes, and fidgeting. “It was never you Kitty, you gotta know that. I owe you that much.”

Of course. The whole: "it's not you, it's me" break up line. Only it was a little late for that. He'd missed his chance to break up with her nicely. His disappearance had shot that one right out of the water.

“Don’t worry Kittrina.” That made her look at him, and she'd been so lost in her thoughts, she hadn't realized he's moved closer. She shifted a little uncomfortably. Why had he used her full name? Why did that hurt? “I’ll be out of your perfect life as soon as this thing is taken off my ankle.” He said, as though making her a promise. “I’ll help you count down the days.”

She rolled her eyes and shook her head again, bringing the cigarette to her lips and puffing a breath of smoke in his face with a smirk. "You don't get it do you?" She laughed harshly. "Nothing about my life is perfect." She shook her head, and her blue eyes locked on his. "How dare you assume it is." She glanced away, throwing her finished cigarette in the dirt. He was driving her crazy.

“When I was a kid, I use to know this really great guy.” She started, and he listened. “He wasn't scared of anything and he told me once
that the worst mistake anyone can make is being afraid to make them.” She gave him a smile that seemed to light up the crappy night. “You also told me, Mistakes were proof that we were trying.”

“Were you too hard on her?” He awaited her answer. “Yeah, but in all honesty she obviously doesn't know you that well, or she would have known that you hate surprises.” He smiled, glad that she'd given him a real answer and not just bashed Jamie because she hated her. “And wasn't it you who just told me love isn't easy?” He laughed lightly at the way she tossed his own words back at him and followed her under the willow tree.

“Maybe, you and Jamie were doomed from the start. Kind of like Me and Dusty or Kitty and Jessie.” There was a pause as they both thought about that. “Did you really mean it?” She asked, and he glanced at her, wondering what she meant. “When you said you hadn’t been in love?” There was another moment of hesitation before she finally said it. “You don’t love her do you?”

Damien thought for a moment. He'd thought he'd loved her, and he certainly didn't hate her, or even dislike her, but... Maybe it wasn't love. And... If it was, wouldn't he just know? Maybe he'd made a huge mistake, agreeing to marry her. Maybe they both had. He rubbed the back of his neck with his hand and sucked in a breath of air.

"I'm not sure. I used to." He shook his head and walked a little closer to her. "Or at least I thought I did. Now I just don't think so." He looked at her, a small sad smile on his face. "But it doesn't matter now anyway." He said with a shrug. "I can't leave her now that she's pregnant. Her baby would grow up without a father, and I know how that feels. I couldn't do that." He shook his head and balled his fists.

She watched him fight whether or not he was actually in love with this girl. She didn’t know what to say, there was only so much she could say. "I can't leave her now that she's pregnant. Her baby would grow up without a father, and I know how that feels. I couldn't do that." she could hear the pain in his voice and it killed her. She couldn’t say I know how you feel, because she didn’t. She didn’t know what it was like without a father, she had only recently lost her mother three years ago and she wasn’t sure she had completely come to terms with that.

He had stepped close enough know she could make out his features in the dim moonlight that peeked through the vines. She saw the veins in his arm tighten, as his fist balled up. She knew well enough his anger was coming back, but unlike everyone who had ever seen him when he was angry, she wasn’t scared of what he’d do to her, cause she wasn’t afraid to beat the shit out of him if he did do anything and maybe that’s why he father let her go. She gently wrapped her fingers around his balled up fist stepping in front of him.

With her free hand she grabbed his face between her fingers, forcing him to look at her. “DJ.” she spoke in a stern voice “Anger is not going to make the situation any better what’s done is done, it can’t be fixed.” Her voice was strained almost as if she could feel his anger, his pain. “Punching things, yelling at people
it’s stupid.” she said staring straight into his eyes.

"You don't get it do you?" She laughed harshly. "Nothing about my life is perfect." She shook her head, and her blue eyes locked on his. "How dare you assume it is." this pissed him off. He closed his eyes taking a breath but it. He threw his hands up as if giving up “What the fuck do you want from me Kit.” He yelled loud enough to startle some of the horses. He slicked his hair back, he could feel himself coming down from the high he’d been on. “You life isn’t perfect no one’s is I get that. I didn’t mean for you to take offence, figures I says something meaningless and that’s what set’s you off.” he continued “Fuck, I can’t do anything right can I” this was more him talking to himself.

He pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to restrain the oncoming head ach. “I get it I royally fucked up when I left okay” his voice grew even louder, the fight from early collapsing on top this argument. “The world doesn’t revolve around this ranch. I didn’t leave because I thought I’d be fun to break your heart Kat.” He said matter of fact-ly closing the space between them. Any other girl would be scared of his unpredictable rage, but he knew Kittrina would stand her ground and he loved that about her. He knew then he’d said too much, he admitted to still having feelings for her, he’d cracked but only slightly.

“I need a drink” he breathed, looking her in the eyes before turning away before he could cause any damage to her of the surroundings. He walked back up the way he’d came, but he paused turning back to her, letting out a weak, strained laugh “I have to live with the choices I’ve made. Don’t think leaving you isn’t one I regret.” There he had said it, he figured why not he had just about said everything else. “Have a nice night Kitten.” He said truing back, heading for the door once again.

“What the fuck do you want from me Kit?” He yelled, startling Lion from his sleep, and a few other horses. Tell him to be quiet Kitty. Her pony Pepper moaned. Shhh. She shushed him. She was a little startled by his anger, but not afraid. She wanted to hear what he had to say.

“Your life isn’t perfect no one’s is I get that. I didn’t mean for you to take offense, figures I say something meaningless and that’s what set’s you off.” She listened to his rage, staying perfectly still. “Fuck, I can’t do anything right can I?”

“I get it. I royally fucked up when I left okay?” She smirked slightly, watching him. It was rare he spoke so openly, and she wasn't missing any bit of it. “The world doesn’t revolve around this ranch. I didn’t leave because I thought I’d be fun to break your heart Kat.” She bit her lip, longing to ask the question: then why did you do it? But she didn't want him to shut down again. He was admitting to her that he'd still had feelings for her when he left, and possibly still did now.

She held her breath when he closed the space between them, and sighed softly. He was standing so close she could feel his breath on her cheek, and she wanted to kiss him so bad it hurt. She stood, perfectly still. Waiting. Wondering if he'd do it. “I need a drink." He breathed, and she bit her lip, knowing the moment had passed.

He turned and left her standing there in the dark, but he wasn't done just yet because he glanced back at her. “I have to live with the choices I’ve made. Don’t think leaving you isn’t one I regret. Have a nice night Kitten.”

Kitty stood there, watching him go. Watching his figure walk away from her. Her knees were weak, and she slid down the wall to sit on the ground, dropping her face in her hands. She moaned miserably, and let the tears come. She couldn't help it anymore. What was she supposed to do? Both of them wanted each other, and yet neither one of them could stand the other. It was like they were broken, and couldn't function like a normal couple.

She looked up again, tears rolling down her cheeks as he neared the door, and Olive opened it just before he did. Of course. Fucking Olive. She was probably throwing herself at him while she sat in a barn crying over him. Kitty rolled her eyes and wiped her cheeks. She was sick of crying. She wanted to do something. Something stupid and destructive.

She glanced towards her step-father's office, knowing he kept liquor in there. Maybe get roaring drunk? Who gave a fuck? Kit stood and walked into the office, grabbing the first bottle she saw, she popped the top and took a long swig, smiling as the warm liquid set fire to her insides. She'd drink until she passed out and they'd find her here in the morning. Hungover, but utterly unable to feel a thing. Kitty grinned and sat in her father's desk chair, kicking her feet up on his desk and taking another swig, letting her pain and emotions wash away with each drink.

Damien looked up as she stepped in front of him and wrapped her small fingers around his fist. He looked at it for a moment in confusion. Why was her hand there? And why did it make his grip loosen and his heart beat?

She then grabbed his face with her other hand and turned it to look right at her. “DJ.” she spoke sternly, but gently. “Anger is not going to make the situation any better what’s done is done, it can’t be fixed.” He breathed deeply, listening to her voice, feeling his anger seep slowly... slowly away with every word she spoke. “Punching things, yelling at people
it’s stupid.” Finally, he was calm.

Damien smiled at her, standing there before him, utterly unafraid of his anger. Somehow she'd managed to calm him. Something Jamie, or anyone for that matter had never been able to do. He looked her in the eyes, and without realizing it, one arm slid around her waist, pulling her tightly to him.

He looked down at her, his heart pounding, knowing what he was doing was utterly stupid, but he had to do it. He lifted his other hand and slid it under her hair, to the back of her neck, pulling her face to his, he pressed his lips to hers, kissing her.

Her lips on his were soft and warm. It was unlike anything he'd felt before. And certainly nothing like Jamie's kisses. It was what a kiss should feel like. He smiled against her lips and pushed her gently backwards, against the willow, kissing her deeper, gripping her tighter.

And then he pulled away, looking down at her in shock. "I'm..." He muttered, unable to speak. "I'm sorry... I.."

He looked away as though ashamed, and took a few steps back from her. He shouldn't have done that. She was so young. Only 16! Her father would kill him if he knew, and Jamie... Oh God, why was he always such an idiot?!

She felt his hand slip around her waist, she knew what was happening, but she didn’t stop it, she should have stopped it, but deep down, she had almost wanted this to happen. The moment his lips touched hers she felt the passion and she kissed back, her lips tingling and she could feel him smile, causing her to smile back. There was something between them, something they might have never known if he hadn’t kissed, something she had never felt with any other guy and she was sure by the way he kissed her the feeling was mutual.

And, just as the quickly as he had kissed her he had pulled away and she knew he regretted it and that alone nearly broke her heart. It was true she acted at least ten year older then she was and she looked older, but she was still a naïve girl, who had just realized how she felt about Damien. She felt tears prick her eyes, it was a stupid thing to cry about, she knew it. In all honesty she felt bad, she had never imagined she’d be “the other women” in any situation.

“Don’t worry Damien, I won’t tell.” She said choking back her tears “Dustin’s a better kisser if that makes you feel any better” she lied “Don’t apologize, you know what I should get to bed” she said a bit harsher then she meant. It was easier this way, if she was the one to avoid him, like she had been for so long now. “I’ll be the one to run this time.” The words were something that said would only hurt him, he would be the only one who understood what they meant. She stared at him for a second longer before disappearing leaving him alone and jogging back towards the house.

Olive stood before him as if waiting for him to take her somewhere, he pushed past her harshly not in any mood to deal with her or anyone for that matter. He took off towards the house, his fists still clenched tight. He headed for the stairs only to be met by Nikota. He had to do a double take he had never seen the girl crying and he knew something was wrong, he decided against his normal insult. “Hey Nik you alright” he asked actual concern in his voice. She rolled her eyes, running up the stairs without so much as a word. He followed her example and slammed the door to his bedroom.

He had gotten little to no sleep and smoked his four remaining joints, before finally passing out for good. A bang on his door nearly scared him to death. “Jessie get the fuck up, Now.” The voice behind the door was angry. He opened the door to see Dustin, dressed in his normal attire, slacks and a button down shirt. “What the hell man, it’s fucking
” he paused glancing to the alarm clock on his nightstand “9:30, you gotta be kidding me this better be good.” He said rubbing the back of his neck still coming down from his high, eyes blood shot.

“The girls are missing.” He said worried

“both of them?” Jessie willed himself to wake up, from his half asleep state. More worried about Kitty.

“Yeah both of them, we’ve been looking for them all morning, think you want to help out seeing as your more than likely the reason Kittrina is missing.” Dustin said irritated.

Kittrina drank. And drank. And drank. Until she could no longer feel. Until she was blissfully unaware of anything. Dull. Dumb. Numb. The music in her ears kept fading between blaringly clear, and nothing but soft, repeating thuds.

When she finished the first bottle, she threw it down, letting it smash. She grabbed a second, even though she'd told herself she would only drink one. When she'd finished that one, she grabbed a third and stood. She didn't want to just sit like she though she was going to. She wanted to do something. She grinned and stumbled out into the stables, taking a sloppy swig as she made her way to Velvet's stall.

Kitty! Get to bed now! He yelled at her, and it made her head hurt. Horribly. She gripped her head and moan. "Oh shut up." She slurred. "Just be a horse for a few moments." She stumbled forward and climbed up onto his back with effort.

Once on him, she grinned and took another swig. She had to get away. Had to get somewhere they couldn't find her. Somewhere she could sleep and wake up with no worries.

The beach. It was perfect.

She smiled and leaned forward, so far she was almost laying on Velvet's back. She gripped his mane tightly, almost cursing herself for drinking so much, for she'd need balance, but that was why she'd picked Velvet. His ride was the smoothest, and he was wild. He wouldn't refuse her like she knew Lion would. "Go!" She barked at him a little roughly, and took another drink as he bolted off through the night.

The beach. She directed him with her mind, using all her concentration to keep herself balanced, laughing wildly at the way the wind hit her face, and Velvet thundered along beneath her. The ultimate adrenaline rush.

She raised up and took another drink just as Velvet's hooves hit the sand, and the impact of the much softer sand threw her from his back violently. She threw the bottle in her fall, and hit her head on a rock, effectively knocking her out.

She always had the most vivid dreams when she was drunk. And they never made sense. They were just a wild flashing collage of frightening colors, pictures, and sounds that made her wake up screaming and crying.

Kitty jolted awake and instantly regretted it. Her head pounded, and she was wet for some reason. Slowly, trying not to make any sudden movements, she sat up. The air smelled like salt, and she discovered that the reason she was wet was because she was on the beach, and laying half in the water. It was a wonder she didn't drown in her sleep. With an agonizing moan, she lifted her fingers to her head. Something was crusty, and she pulled her fingers back to look at them. They were red. Blood.

Kitty moaned miserably and dragged herself from the water, but that was as far as she could go. She collapsed on the warm, soft sand, and closed her eyes, smiling when Velvet trotted over and lay next to her. She curled herself up against him and let herself sob into the sand. About what, she wasn't totally sure, but one thing was clear. It felt so fucking good to cry.

Damien looked down at Nikota and instantly regretted his words. She was hurt. That wasn't what he'd intended. He was just... Shocked. And emotional. And tired. He wasn't apologizing because he regretted kissing her. He was apologizing because he wasn't sure she'd wanted it. “Don’t worry Damien, I won’t tell.” He could tell from her voice that she was going to cry. He'd hurt her. And that hurt him. “Dustin’s a better kisser if that makes you feel any better,” He shook his head, wanting to explain, but she went on. “Don’t apologize, you know what? I should get to bed.” She then turned away from him, and he wanted to reach for her. “I’ll be the one to run this time.” That made him stumble back, a little hurt, and he groaned when he realized he'd lost his opportunity to explain. She was gone.

He stood there for a moment after she'd gone, remembering her lips, and the way he'd felt when he'd kissed her, and trying to sort it all out. But he eventually just gave up and turned away. It was time he got to bed too. He was exhausted, and doing stupid shit because of it.

He turned, leaving the spot and heading back to the house. Once there, he walked around the front and hopped in his pickup truck, starting the engine and driving off, towards the house him and Jamie shared at the edge of the D'Angelo property.

Once there, he hopped down from the car and headed up the front steps. He didn't want to go inside. She would be there, waiting for him. Waiting to yell at him, and he'd have to apologize. He wanted to be with Niki, not Jamie.

But he had to be here. It was his job. As a husband. As a father.

He sighed deeply and went into the house, walking down the hall. The living room light was on, and she was there, just as he'd expected, sitting in an armchair waiting on him. Only she wasn't awake. She was sleeping, with a box of tissues and their wedding photo on the floor. Her eyes were red, and she had mascara streaks down her cheeks. He sighed, feeling horrible.

Gently, he lifted the sleeping Jamie in his arms. She moan and curled into him. "Baby?" She asked sleepily, and he nodded.

"Yeah, I'm here hun." He reassured her as he carried her down the hall to their room and layed her on the bed. "Just go to sleep. I'm sorry about earlier. I'm excited. I really am." He lied. She smiled at him sleepily and kissed him slightly before falling instantly back asleep. He stood there, looking at her for a moment before sliding into the bed beside her and falling asleep.

"Damien. Damien wake up." Jamie's voice drifted through his dreams, and he woke with a start. "Relax honey." She said with a chuckle. "The girls are missing. Mr. D'Angelo's here. Get dressed and come out for some coffee."

Damien nodded lazily and stood, throwing on a pair of jeans and grabbing a t-shirt. He finished yanking it down over him as he walked into the kitchen, finding Mr. D'Angelo sitting at the counter with Jamie, drinking a cup of coffee. "What's going on?" He asked, voice thick with sleep as he poured himself a mug and sat down.

"My daughters are missing." Mr D'Angelo said, striking sudden fear into his heart.

Nikota had slammed the door to her bedroom loud enough she’s surprised it didn’t wake the whole house. She flopped on her bed letting out a frustrated scream into her pillow. She pulled her sweater over her head staring into the mirror at her badly scared torso and back as if that was the cause for this. Instantly a flood of memories came back to her she placed a hand on her forehead being it to stop, she would have looked crazy to an on looker. She pulled on her hoddie no longer able to look at herself. Her breathing increased as if she was having an asthma attack, it was happening all over again, it wouldn’t be long before she blacked out.

She dug through her drawers, searching panicked for the medication she had stopped taking months ago. Convinced she was better off without it. It was supposed to help with her nightmares and black outs. Once she had found them, she shoved them into the front pocket of her sweater jacket. Making her way back out of her room she had to get out of here. She gripped the banister of the staircase as sharp pains shot through her head as if she’d been shot, her vision going blurry. She focused hard finishing her descended down the stairs. Stopping and grabbing a bottle of whisky from her father’s collection. She stumbled toward the stables, hoping no one would find her like this, in fear they might just 51/50 her.

“Macho Man!” she yelled out. He was the fastest of her horses and the most dangerous. Damn it you D’ Angelo girls are crazy to night she heard him groan. She slide the door to his stall open causing him to rear up a bit. He was possibly the most unpredictable and dangerous of all the horses. Nik knock the shit off, your not riding me. he yelled and she could hear Midnight yelling from his stall, begging her to ride him instead. “Shut up all of you!” she yelled Macho rared up a bit nearly kicking her, despite this she climbed on his back.

“Please, stop!” Nikota yelled as two men held her down. “Please, don’t
” she heard her mother calling to them. One of them men holding a knife to Niki’s neck. Tears stained her cheeks, she watched as they lifted the gun the gun pointing at her mother. Nikota let out a tortured scream as she shot up in a cold sweat, the night mares had started again. She had gotten up to fast, she grounded in pain, before leaning to the side to puke. She groaned miserable and sick, it was a wonder she wasn’t dead having mixed her medication with half a bottle of whisky. She glanced around only now realizing she was in the middle of nowhere, tress surrounded her. She wiped her mouth, still feeling sick to her stomach.

“Fuck” she groaned she pressed against her temples trying to get the pounding in her head to stop. Wishing she hadn’t have been so stupid last night, she hadn’t been herself last night. Then a rush of pain came from her leg, she glanced down seeing the large gash in her leg, covered in dirt and dry blood though it seemed to be somewhat fresh and pretty bad. “Macho, where the hell are we?” she called out remembering he had been the one she’d taken. Her back was sore and she realized that she had more than likely been bucked off. With no answer from Macho Man, her fears were conformed, he’d left her there.

He felt guilty maybe he shouldn’t have said those things last night, he was worried about both girls having seen Nikota the way she was last night, but he was more worried about his Kitten. He quickly threw on some clean cloths and followed Dustin down the stairs “Mr. and Mrs. D’ Angelo went to get Damien and Jamie, they should be back anytime now.” He said as they headed out the front door. They heard the sound of horse shoes on pavement in the distance, both of the boys perking up as they took off down the small hill to the paved road outside the stables.

“It’s Macho” Dustin said leaving Jessie and running to meet the horse. “Fuck” Jessie heard Dustin yell. Jessie watch Dustin try and calm the horse grabbing him by his rains, the horse rearing up countless times nearly kicking Dustin in the chest and head. Finally Dustin was able to calm him enough to tie him to the hitching post just outside the barn, a small pool of blood on his back made Dustin tense. Jessie spotted it after seeing Dustin tense up “I’m sure she’s fine.” He said not exactly know how to deal with the situation.

“You don’t understand Jessie, she’s not right. She gets these things in her head.” He said slightly panicked.
Jessie looked at him a bit confused.
“What do you mean?” he swallowed hard

“maybe if you paid a little more attention to someone else besides yourself, you’d understand. It’s not exactly hard to see how badly you fuck up Kittrina” coming from Dustin that somehow hurt “And Niki, she’s a mess, she just hides it well, well enough that her father, Kit and I are the only ones who know.” Jessie felt a slight bit of regret, causing him to want to find the girls, both of them.

“Lets just find them alright, where is everyone at?” he said growing impatient. What the hell are you doing Kitten. he thought, to himself only becoming more worried.

Kitty cried and cried and cried. And when she finally stopped crying, it wasn't because she wanted to, but because she was dried up. There were no tears left, so she just heaved. Kitty.. Calm down. Velvet said gently. He was wild, and pretty dangerous, but when it came to Kitty, he was the most gentle creature on God's earth.

She moaned and sat up slowly, daggers stabbing her in the eyes, the temples, all the way down her back. Her head spun and she looked at her horse. Any idea how to get home maybe? She asked and he shook his head, standing to held her do the same.

I'm sorry Kitty. You made me run. I was confused. It was dark... I-

"Shut it." Kitty cut him off, though not trying to be rude, he was just making her head hurt. "It's okay," she mumbled, looking along the beach. On the sand was the bottle of vodka she'd dropped when Velvet had thrown her. It wasn't completely empty.

She smiled and used Velvet as support to stumble over and pick up the bottle before falling to her hands and knees again, puking violently. "Fuck." She hissed and sat back in the sand.

Kitty, please don't. Velvet begged and knocked the bottle from her hand, and she just rolled her eyes and picked it back up.

"Don't tell me what to do Velvet." She hissed. "There's no way home, and nothing to do, and I have a headache the size of Texas. I'll do what I want." To anyone else, she would look absolutely crazy, sitting on the beach with a bloody head, sandy, and wet clothes, and, above all... arguing with a horse.

Fine then I'll find my own way home. Velvet snapped back, obviously hurt by her cruelty.

Kitty didn't care. She didn't even turn around, simply listened to the sound of his retreating hooves as she knocked back more of the vodka, feeling the pressure on her head instantly lessen, she glared out at the waves. No one could find her here, and she didn't know how to get home. To most girls, that would be scary, but to Kitty, it was thrilling. She was all alone. No one expecting anything from her.

She stood and half-walked, half-stumbled to the water, wading in waist deep, allowing the waves to rock her back and forth, back and forth. Moving her body like the beat of a song, taking her where it wanted her to go, and she, too weak to refuse. She smiled slightly, taking another drink from the bottle and another step into the water, half hopping the waves would just whisk her away and she'd be free of this nonsense. Lost forever in the ocean.

Her thoughts were grave and dark, but Kitty didn't care. Instead of popping back one of her pills like she usually did, trying to numb them, she just let them wash over her. Like the waves of the ocean.

Damien stood instantly. "They're missing?!" He yelled. "What the hell are we doing sitting around?!"

"Calm down honey. Finish your coffee, then we'll go get them. They were emotional last night, That's all. I'm sure they're fine." Jamie said, and that pissed him off.

He shook his head, biting back his anger, remembering what Kota had said. Now was not the time to punch something, or yell at Jamie. Now was the time to find those girls. "You don't understand." He said, shaking his head. She wouldn't, and that wasn't her fault. She hadn't been at the ranch long enough. "Both those girls are unstable. Emotional is not something to be taken lightly with them." He said, looking right at Mr. D'Angelo.

"We have to go now."

Without waiting for a response, Damien dashed from the house and hopped in his car. Mr. D'Agelo's car was there too, so him and Jamie would have a ride, but he wasn't waiting for them. He revved the engine and took off towards the main house.

He didn't get there though. He was stopped by the sight of Dustin and Jessie, so he stopped his truck and hopped down, making his way towards them. He shot an angry look at Dustin, wanting him out of there. Who even called him anyway?

He shook it off. That wasn't important now. Without saying anything, he pushed past them to where Niki's horse was, yanking wildly at his restraint.

As he approached him, Macho kicked, but Damien spoke shoothingly to him. He was a trainer. He'd worked with these horses every single day since he was fifteen, so finally the horse calmed enough to let him close. Damien inspected his fur and hooves and found multiple dirt clods, twigs, and leaves.

"She's in the forest somewhere." He said, as he approached the boys again, holding up a rather large twig with a leaf attached to it. He was about to hop in his car again when the sound of thundering hooves stopped him. He turned, seeing Kitty's horse bolting towards them through the field. It looked like Velvet.

He rolled his eyes. "Of. Fucking. Course." He hissed, shaking his head. Both girls had picked their craziest horses to runaway with. "Why couldn't they go for the mares?" He chuckled, as he trotted over to Velvet and struggled with him for a while before finally tying him up next to Macho.

"He's covered in sand!" He shouted to Dustin and Jessie. "The beach." He looked at Dustin. "You. With me in the truck. Jessie, he gestured to his ankle. Hopefully that thing will let you go a little ways. If you can, find Kitty. If not, send Mr. D'Angelo."

With that, he hopped in the truck and waited for Dustin before taking off towards the forest.

As he pulled up, he hopped out again, followed by Dustin, and headed into the thick trees, calling her name. Hopefully they'd find her before something serious happened.

After a good fifteen minutes of pouting and feeling sorry for herself, Niki grabbed the bottle of Whisky that was half filled. She took a huge swig of it wincing as it went down her throat burning it a bit, she coughed violently, before her body forced her to throw up what she’d just swallowed. “Ugh” she said disgusted. She glanced down to her wound. “Here goes nothing.” She said pouring a good amount on the wound, causing her to yell out in pain “Fuck.” It burned and pulsed, she’d really done something to her leg, she didn’t know what, but whatever it was it hurt like hell.
---
The ride was quiet, there was obvious tension between the two, like a bad energy you could feel it. “What the hell did you do to her.” Dustin finally said “Jessie told me, she came in last night in tear after having left with you.” He said harshly “Don’t act like you know her D.” Dustin wasn’t exactly good with timing, had he been, he would have known now was the worst time to say something. “You better pray to God she’s okay.” He said threatening Damien.
---
Nikota angled herself so her back was leaning against the nearest tree. She didn’t want to move, she didn’t want to do anything but drink and black out again, maybe with any luck this time she wouldn’t wake up. She winced a bit as pain shot up threw her back. “What the fuck did you do to me Macho.” She whispered as if he could hear her.

“Niki! Nik!” she heard Dustin in the distance and for a moment thought she was dreaming, but why of him God if she was dying why torment her with thoughts of Dustin, she must be going to hell she thought, smirking a bit at the thought. By this time she was pretty sure she was delirious and still drunk. She shoved her hands in her pockets, finding her pills and popping the remaining four, surprised she had nearly emptied the bottle last night. Two was a dangerous amount let alone four, she washed the pills down with the whisky, once again going into a violent coughing spree. The pills made her numb, emotionless, depressed and that’s why she’d stopped taking them, because when she did she wasn’t herself.

She watched as Dustin and Damien come into view, she was more agitated at the fact they’d found her. She felt Dustin’s hand on her forehead and she could hear the two of them arguing, but everything around her was a blur and she couldn’t bring herself to talk, it was as if she was in a comma all over again. Dustin had picked her up effortlessly after arguing with Damien about who was going to do what. Dustin held her in his lap as they drove back towards the house.

Now that Jessie knew where she was, nothing else mattered but getting to her, he made his way into the house taking a pair of wire cutters and with all his strength was able to cut the hard plastic of the device just so nothing was triggered it was obvious he’d done this before. “Everything proof my ass” he smirked grabbing the keys to jeep, that was for ranch use only. He speed off, headed for the beach, which luckily was only a fifteen minute drive from the ranch, but he had made it their in ten. He stepped out of the car his eyes frantically searching the beach for her. He closed his eyes running his hands through his hair.

“Where is she.” He let out a frustrated noise “The Cove” he said taking off running down the beach. Coming to a rock like wall, on the other side a private beach that few people knew even existed. He climbed the rocks, seeing her walking towards the ocean water, alone. He climbed down the other side of the rocks, quickly, almost falling into the angry waves that crashed against the rocks. Finally reaching the sand.

“Kitten!” he yelled watching as she walked deeper in to the dangerously high water. He took off at a dead run towards her. This seemed to surreal, it had come to this, her practically flirting with death and he blamed himself. “Kitty!” he called to her again but she seemed to out of it. The water was cold but he ignored it thrashing throw the water, grabbing her waist from behind and pulling him to her tightly as if he held the world in his hands. He turned her to face him picking her up completely, he knew she was too weak to fight him. He carried her back to the sand, before placing her on her feet again, though not letting her out of his arms, pulling her closer.

“Kitten, what the hell where you thinking. If your dead
I have nothing to live for.” He whispered to her, hugging her to him tightly kissing the top of her head.

“Kitten!” She heard his frantic yell, but chose to ignore it. She might as well have been alone. Drunk and delirious. Completely oblivious to the fact that she was wading into extremely dangerous water. Or maybe she wasn't oblivious? Maybe her mind was purposely leading her to danger. Who really cared?

Suddenly, there were hands on her waist, and she was pulled from her thoughts as she was whirled around to face Jessie. She tried to fight him, but it didn't work. She was too weak, so she just gave in as he carried her back to the beach and set her down, soaking wet and shaking from the cold.

He pulled her to him and kissed her head, whispering sweetly to her.

She moaned in his chest and dropped the bottle to the sand. He was wet too, so he wasn't much warmth, but she didn't care. It felt good to be held by him.

Then his words registered. If your dead
I have nothing to live for...

Dead? She looked at the water, realizing it was high-tide. Noticing the way the waves slammed into the rocks violently, and winced. That could have been her. Thrown onto one of those rocks. Had she just tried to kill herself?

Again?

She started shaking again. Not from cold this time though, only Jessie wouldn't know that. He didn't know about her first suicide attempt. She'd made sure not to tell him, as she was afraid of what he'd think of her. How he'd judge her. "Don't let them put me in the hospital again..." She muttered, knowing it made no sense to him, but not caring. She remembered being in the hospital, forced to talk about her problems and swallow pill after pill. It was awful. "I'm not crazy."

Kitty pulled him tighter and looked down at the sand. At their feet, then she remembered something. "Shit!" She yelled, pushing him away from her. "Jessie! Your ankle thing! You'll go to jail you crazy bastard!" She shook her head and picked up her bottle again, taking a drink. "If I'm what you live for, why did you leave, you liar?" She asked, suddenly irritated again. She was irritated that he'd found her. That he'd ricked jail to find her. And now she wanted answers. She was sick of him keeping her on edge all the time, though she was sure that, once he got her back and she was sober again, the cycle would repeat itself.

It was never-ending, their cycle of love and hate.

They drove in silence. For the most part. Until Dustin decided to open his mouth. “What the hell did you do to her? Jessie told me, she came in last night in tears after having left with you.” Dustin asked accusingly, and Damien gripped the steering wheel dangerously tight. He deserved it, he had been the one to make Niki cry, but coming from Dustin, he didn't feel shamed, he just felt pissed. “Don’t act like you know her D.” Damien stopped the car suddenly and turned towards Dustin.

"If you know what's good for you, you'll shut up now." He barked at the boy. "And you sure as Hell won't call me D again. You're not my 'homie' okay. You're a child. I was there before you ever were, so I'll act like I know her all I fucking want." He raised his hand, cutting Dustin off. "And don't even bring up the fact that I left. It was one year out of how many? Now. If you cared about her so much, your number one priority would be finding her. Not accusing or threatening me." He barked, starting the car again and taking off.

-----

After wandering around the forest for a while, Dustin found her and called out to him. Damien was irritated. Irritated that Dustin was the one who found her, and now Dustin was the one carrying her back to the car. He shook it off though. Kota looked sick, and all that mattered was getting her help.

He drove towards the house much too fast, and, when they arrived, Damien hopped down from the truck, went around the side, and took Niki from Dustin, carrying her quickly into the house.

He set her gently on the couch and hovered over her. Jamie, Olive, Mr. D'Angelo, and Mrs. D'Angelo were all in the kitchen, and her parents rushed in at the sight of him carrying her.

"Is she alright?" Mrs. D'Angelo asked, clearly concerned.

Damien looked her over. She smelled like liqour, and he pulled her empty pill bottle from his pocket and tossed it to Mr. D'Angelo. "Those dangerous?" He asked, watching the man. "Looked like she took a whole bottle. She puked most of it up, judging by where we found her, but if they're really dangerous, she needs medical attention now. If not, we can fix up her leg and she can stay here."

"They're dangerous." Mr. D'Angelo confirmed his fear.

"Fuck!" Damien cursed, throwing his hands in the air and looking down at Kota, lifting her gently again. "I'm so sorry." He whispered to her, so that no one else could hear. "This is all my fault."

He carried her back out to his truck and yanked Dustin out before setting her inside and walking around to the other side, hopping in, taking off at top speed towards the hospital.

The ride to the hospital was less then miserable, she wasn’t even sure if it was real. Then her eyes fluttered shut the darkness overtook her, she fell into a deep sleep, much like the one she had before. Then once asleep she began to panic, of course no one could her hear from inside her own mind. All she knew is that the nightmares where coming, violent, vivid nightmares.

After a good hour or so of nothing from the doctors, despite both Dustin and Damien’s threats, a women emerged from Nikota’s room. “Mr. D’ Angelo.” She spoke calmly “May I have a word with you?” he nodded bracing himself for the worst. He heard the two boys trailing behind him. “Mr. Paul, Mr. Fox” she known the D’ Angelo family for years, she was their personal doctor and happened to be a close friend with Dustin’s mother. She glanced up to the two boys “Seeing as this is a personal matter.” She began “Unless Mr. D’ Angelo gives me the okay, you boys I’m afraid I cannot share this information with.” She glanced to Mr. D’ Angelo “It’s alright, there just as worried.” He said nodding gently. “There is good news and bad news which do you want first?” she said staring at Mr. D’ Angelo there was a unanimous vote for good.

“The good news is that she’s stable
for the moment. She’s awake, the wound on her leg was pretty deep but nothing to worry about, it Nothing a few stitches couldn’t fix.” She said calmly though her face turning into more of a frown at this point “The bad news is whatever triggered all this, cause her to back pedal. She’s more than likely going to have to go back to her therapy sessions and whether she likes it or not, she’s going to have to start her medication again.” She informed them. “She won’t take the medication, she’d stubborn like her mother.” Mr. D’ Angelo frowned gently “Let me put it to you this way, she glanced between all three of the men who stood in front of her, her tone lowering becoming even more serious “She either takes that medication or she’s going to end up killing herself.”

“Damn it.” Dustin breathed, shooting Damien a dirty look. “When can we see her?” Dustin said running a hand threw his hair.
The doctor smiled “Whenever you’re ready, but know that she is weak and I’m not sure how much she’ll want to talk. So were only allowing once visitor at a time.” She and with that the doctor turned making her way back down the hall.

"Don't let them put me in the hospital again..." he heard her say, he was a little confused by this but he ignored it "I'm not crazy." she continued. “I know.” He said simply as if he knew what she was talking about, but he was a little more than confused. He felt her push away from him followed by her yelling about his ankle bracelet "If I'm what you live for, why did you leave, you liar?" that hurt, he knew she wasn’t in the right mind, but still the words hurt. He clinched his fists, trying his best to control his anger, there was no use in fighting with her, he needed to get her home, possibly to the hospital, judging by the blood he spotted on the back of her head. So sitting here and arguing wasn’t what he had in mind. Her question had confirmed the fact that she was still bothered by the fact he’d left as much as she tried to mask it, she couldn’t forget about it. He rubbed the back of his neck, trying to come up with something to say that wouldn’t completely piss her off.

She was going to be the death of him, he sighed, he was going to have to break this time, for the first time. He’d have to be the mature one and actually open up. He feared if he didn’t she’d do something drastic and if something happened to her right in front of him he wouldn’t be able to live with himself. He knew she was unstable, they both were and he blamed that for the reason they couldn’t have a healthy relationship. Without realizing it he’d started to trace the tattoo of her name with his fingers. He wasn’t sure what to do, he couldn’t exactly run this time and more than anything he hated not having an exit.

“I’m sorry
” his whisper was lost in the loud clash of the waves crashing into the rocks and he knew she hadn’t heard, he’d barely head it. “I’m sorry Kittrina.” He said louder and he meant it. He wasn’t sure if he’d actually ever apologized to anyone. He grabbed her arm pulling her back to him, wrapping an arm around her waist, tightly as if she was going to disappear into thin air. He gently moved a few strands of her hair from her face. Gently placing his lips to her forehead, then unwrapping his arm from her waist placing his hands on either side of her face, locking his deep blue eyes with her. In one swift movement he brought their lips together, his heartbeat fastened and he kissed her hard, but somehow it was still tender. He felt the heat in his body rise, when he kissed her it was like everything around him ceased to exist, like they were the only two people in the whole word. No other girl could make him feel the way he did when he was kissing her. He pulled his lips away, pulling her into a comforting embrace.

“I’ll fix us.” He said promising “If it’s the last thing I do.” He almost regretted the promise as soon as he’d made if cause he wasn’t exactly sure he could them, he couldn’t fix himself for god sake. He knew even then as he held her, he was going to break her heart, but for now he meant it, he was going to try. "Now for the love of god would you please let me take you to the hospital or back home at least." he said of course lighting the mood like he always did.

Kittrina watched as he struggled, taking a long time, though for once, she didn't push him. She knew this was hard for him. She watched as he traced the place where he'd had her name tattooed, and waited patiently for him to speak. If he didn't say anything, Kitty wasn't sure what she would do, but it would hurt more than anything, so she stood there, almost empty vodka bottle hanging forgotten at her side while she waiting for his answer.

His lips moved, but she didn't hear the words that had come out. The waves whisked them away from her, and for a moment, she almost cried, but then he spoke up again, louder this time. “I’m sorry Kittrina.” Kitty grinned and closed her eyes, drinking in the words, letting them replay in her mind. If felt good to hear that from him. She wasn't sure she'd ever heard it.

As many times as they fought, she'd only ever heard it once. The time where he'd pushed her into the coffee table and split her leg open, almost killing her. That night, at the hospital, he'd apologized over and over again. With her eyes closed, she absentmindedly fingered the scar on her thigh. Funny how she had to be close to death for her to get him to say he was sorry.

His fingers on her arm made her open her eyes again, and he pulled her forward, like he'd done at the house, only this time, he didn't let her go. He pulled her to him and wrapped an arm around her waist, holding her there. Her heart pounded, and she bit her lip, knowing where this was going. The bottle in her hands slipped from her grip, dropping to the sand with a dull thud, forgotten.

Gently, he moved some hair from her face, and Kitty smiled lightly. She loved when he was passionate and wild with her, but he was very rarely gentle with her, so it was nice when he was. He kissed her forehead, then grabbed both sides of her face with his hands. She smiled and reached for him, balling her hands into fists in his shirt and pulling him close.

Then he kissed, her and she melted. It was hard and desperate, like she was going to disappear any moment, but it was also tender and gentle. Like she was a fragile doll. She moaned softly into the kiss and leaned into him. It felt so damn good to kiss him again. It felt like too long since she'd last done so, and she never wanted to stop.

He was the first to pull away, pulling her close, leaving her out of breath and stunned. She wrapped her arms around him and pulled herself tightly to her chest. “I’ll fix us.” He promised her. “If it’s the last thing I do.”

Kitty laughed lightly against him. "I know you Jessie. There's no fixing us. We'll be broken again in less than a day." She said, shaking her head and leaning back to look at him.

"Now for the love of god would you please let me take you to the hospital or back home at least?" Kitty bit her lip. She was a little less drunk now. If anything, she was drunk on that kiss, not the liquor, and her head was still pounding, despite the rush she'd just gotten.

She looked up into his eyes. He'd never really told her why he'd left, but he didn't have to. She saw the fear in his eyes. He'd left because he was afraid. Though whether he was afraid of her or afraid of what he might turn her into, she had no idea. Either way though, she had to laugh. His leaving, had backfired on him. She'd turned into exactly what he was trying to avoid.

"Not the hospital." She said, touching her head gently. It wasn't bleeding anymore, it just hurt. The last place she wanted to go was the hospital. She doubted Jessie would tell them everything, but still... If he did, she'd be admitted to more therapies than she could count, and she didn't want to go through that again. "Not that shit again." She whispered, more to herself than to him before looking up at him. "Just home, please?" She asked, her eyes earnestly pleading with him not to take her to the hospital despite the fact that her head was pounding, and she could barely walk without tripping.

The ride to the hospital was quiet, but tense. You could cut the tension in the cab with a knife. Dustin sat in the back, Niki was laying down across the passenger seat, head in his lap, and Mr. & Mrs. D'Angelo followed him closely in there own car. There was fear in the car as well so much that, it too, could be cut with a knife.

At least Dustin kept his mouth shut. If the kid tried to threaten him again, he wasn't sure what he'd do.

Once at the hospital, they took her away, and Dustin, the D'Agnelos, and him had to sit for what seemed an agonizingly long time, waiting for the results before the nurse finally came out.

She told them what had happened, and he'd caught Dustin's dirty look. He cursed himself under his breath. This was his fault. His stupid fault. He shouldn't have kissed her. Or... After he had, he shouldn't have taken it back. He doubted she wanted to see him. Doubted she really wanted to see anybody.

So he sat back and nudged her father. "You go in first. You're her father." He said as he sat back in one of the waiting chairs again. If she wanted to see him, she would ask for him.

Dustin sat next to him. "This is your fault you know." He said, this time it was less threatening, more matter-of-fact.

Damien nodded. "Yeah." He groaned. "I know, kid." He dropped his face into his hands, and sat back, blaming himself. He had half a mind to get up and take off. He hated seeing people in pain, especially when the cause was him. That's what he'd done the last time. Niki had been hurt by those men and Mrs. D'Angelo killed because he hadn't been there. It had freaked him out so he'd left.

He wouldn't do that again though. He had to be there this time, and not let Dustin swoop in and replace him.
Again.

It was true, Nikota didn’t want to see anyone, especially her father. How could she do that to him, she was being selfish and there was no telling how tortured he’d been, first his wife then his daughter. She groaned a bit wishing she could go back to last night and instead of turning into a complete freak, she should have taken a breath and just slept it off. Then there was Damien who she was sure was beating himself up about this whole thing, she could have stopped him to she was Just as much at fault for what had happened. Her monitor beeped bringing her from her thoughts, she just wanted to go home not be here, here was the last damn place she wanted to be.

She heard a soft knock at the door, her eyes falling on her father. Underneath his eyes were dark as if he hadn’t slept and worry lines were present more so on his aged face.

“Daddy I
” he held a hand up interrupting her.

“Your alive, that’s all that counts don’t apologize. I’m not upset with you, this is something that couldn’t be helped. Your sister’s went missing to. Maybe me bringing Jessie back wasn’t the best idea.” He said sitting down next to her, placing his hand in her, she was cold almost as if she was dead and she more than likely almost was.

“Kitty’s missing?!” she gasped “We have to find her!” she glanced around as if mapping out how to escape.

“Relax Nik, Jessie text me a few moments ago, there headed back to the house now.” She let out a breath of relief at her father’s words, no she was just worried about her sister more than anything. Had she been smart she’d have been able to be there for Kitty instead of Jessie, she let out a small huff. Her father decide against telling her what the doctor had said about putting her back on her meds and making her go back to therapy, he figured that’s the last thing she wanted to hear. “La Mia Bella” he started with a smile “Your mother and I are going to head back home and check on your sister, Dustin and Damien are waiting to see you. One of them will more than likely be staying with you if you have to stay overnight.” He sighed not exactly wanting to leave his daughter in this condition, but he had even seen Kit and she was his daughter to by blood or not and there wasn’t much more he could do for Niki.

Nikota knotted “You should get some rest, you look tired.” She said softly “I love you.” She said as he kissed her forehead.
“Anch'io ti amo bambina.” Her father said in Itatlian, she understood most of the langauage, but she wouldn’t say she was fluet like Damien and her father.

“Dad” she called to him just before he closed the door “I want to see DJ. Not Dusty.” To this her father was suprised, but he nodded.

Making his way back out to the waiting room he galnced between the two boys, he could feel the tension between them. “I don’t know what’s gotten into you two.” He said standing in front of the boys “But you better sure as hell get over it.” Mr. D’ Angelo said almost thretening the two. “She wants to see you.” Dustin automadically assumed this meant him, he stood up but her father stopped him “Not you, Damien.” He saidglancing to Damien.

He heard her say they’d be broken again in less then a day and he was relived that she had been the one to say it. Her request to go home instead of the hospital wasn’t a surprise to him, he nodded and picked her up once again. The tide had gone down enough now they could simply walk around the rock wall now. He carried her, with ease across the beach and back to the car opening the passenger side door, setting her down gently.

“Jay?” he heard a voice call from behind “Jessie Blackburn.” He debated on whether or not to turn around and knowledge the person, he wasn’t sure if this person was a threat to him or not. He looked straight into Kittrina’s eyes.

“Don’t move Kitten, don’t get out of the car.” He said in a low voice, before closing the door and turning to face the person.
He left out a breath of relief realizing it was one of his old friends or drug dealer who he use to hang around with before he left. They did there old hand shake that seemed stupid to Jessie now, but never the less he did it. They talked for a bit, Jessie telling him why he was back and where he was staying and just carrying on friendly conversation.

“Fuck Jay J, I thought you were never coming back” Jessie winced at the nickname, he hated it, but had used it as a sort of ales. “You and Kitty Kat at it again.”he asked, Jessie clenched his fist as he called her that he didn’t exactly like other guys, drug dealers nicknaming her. To everyone in his world she was his girl whether or not they were together and everyone knew better then to mess with her. The man could odiously see how agitated Jessie had become. “Well listen man it was nice seeing you, give me a call, you know i’ll hook you up.” He smirked handing a slip of paper to Jessie. He shoved it in his pocket, he would more then likely be using that later.

He made his way to the drivers side of the Jeep hopping in, shoving the keys into the ignition and backing out.
