College of the Gods

College of the Gods

Gods of Myth have been said to not exist. Everyone of them has been debunked in one form or another.... try telling them that.

2,054 readers have visited College of the Gods since Zensai created it.

Introduction

There have always been myths about gods, in Greece, Rome, Norway, Japan and many other countries have their own tales. But in the waves of time they have faded… No one believes in the old gods in these modern times. Science has taken their place explaining everything that the gods represented. People have climbed Mt. Olympus and found no home of the Gods. The gods place of worship have all but crumbled away with time, and some of their statues have been stolen or vandalized….
The mortals have explained almost everything about the ancient civilizations and their so called ‘gods’ never thinking of a simple fact.
Maybe the gods have just moved, or maybe they are in a place we cannot see.
Each culture of Gods have their own realm and none have met the other. The Asgardians have never met the Olympians and neither have the others. The only ones that have are the Roman and Greek gods, and that is because they are one and the same. Each Realm of the Gods have their own version of the underworld, and each realm looks like one would they would expect from the Gods.
The Gods have never met… until now.
Ten Gods have been sent to Earth awakening in mortal shells. Each looking much different yet the same as well, they are younger appearing to be college age. None have any clue as to why they have been sent to Earth. They know they are Gods and of where they came from… but they know not of whom these others are…
They have figured out they have their powers from when they walked their realms, and each have their weapon, why they were left with such items of power they do not know…
Each god have their own like and dislikes, many which will be on Earth now. They have all been assigned a residence in college no less. They do not know what will happen if they do not go, except it will be dire.
Mixed in with these gods are four mortals, two women and two men. They do not know anything about the gods being what they are, they think this is a normal college… they do not know the headmaster, and have only heard rumors about the secret chamber located in the school ground. They have seen a few other students leave their room late at night and go somewhere and when they come back… they are exhausted and some smell slightly charred. They also noticed that some have separate dorms than them as well.

Modern Earth, the age of science has replaced the age of Gods and Magic. They all have disproven everything about them. People have gone to the so called home of the Greek Gods and found… nothing… No grand palaces or anything else. The Gods places of worship have all but crumbled away. Some have been stolen from and some broken into and vandalized.
The mortals have forgotten about them and explained away everything about them.
But they have not thought of one simple possibility…Maybe the Gods have moved… or have their own dimension. The Gods have never met the other gods of a different culture, aside from the Roman and Greek, but that is because they are one and the same…Each realm feels like one would expect from each culture.

Asgard is surrounded by an impregnable wall and is one of the Nine worlds, inhabited by the Aesir, the race of Warrior Gods. It is located at the highest point of their universe and has the Rainbow Bridge connecting their world to Earth. They also have Valhalla the place were slain warriors wait for the final battle, Ragnarok. The realm of their Elves Alfheim and Svartalfheim is also there as well as Vanaheim the home of Vanir, it is a glorious if a bit cold. Also there is the realm of frost giants they are constantly battling. As well as Helheim, their underworld which Hel, Lokis’ daughter resides and is protected by Garm, Hel's enormous dog-guard, lives in the cave Gnipahellir. He is an eight-foot-tall black hound with glowing eyes. It is important not to underestimate Garm. While he may act like a big dog - vicious and dangerous or friendly depending on who you are - it's an act. There is as much intelligence in Garm as in any other of Helheim's guards. He is a Jotun who is always in dog-form, but he is no dumb beast. Garm seems to be on a general patrol around the borders of Helheim, meaning that he could be anywhere at any point.
Mount Olympus is the abode of the chief god Zeus. Also, the foremost gods of the Greek pantheon have their palaces at the summit. It is here that the gods assemble to consume nectar and ambrosia, the substances which reinforces their immortality. The top of the Olympus, which is covered in snow and hidden in the clouds, reaches all the way into the aether. It is the highest mountain of Greece and lies on the border of Macedonia and Thessaly, yet though mortals have been to the top they have never seen the realm. And why would they? The Gods have hidden it from their mortal eyes. Also of course is the Domain of Hades, which is surrounded nine times by the River Styx, where Hades resides.
The Egyptian Gods abandoned Walking the Earth and made their own realm one that mimics Ancient Egypt, yet more elegantly and seems to never decay.
The Aztec took a liking to the lushness of the place they were worshipped and made their own realm reflect that. Lushness surrounding them and the sounds of the jungle ever present as each God resided in their own grand pyramids, very much like the temples that the Aztecs worshipped them in.
The Hindu gods have retreated back into their Lokas, looking forlornly at the world they left, though it should be mentioned that they have never seen the other Gods walk the world, perhaps the Earth of the other Gods are different in some way?

Each God in each realm have seen the flow of time on Earth and seen it change, but never seeing the other realms of the other gods.

Until now.

Ten Gods, including a few Goddesses, have been cast out of their realm by someone, though they do not know who. Some of the Gods and Goddesses are the righteous; some are the outcasts among the gods… They each have their weapons on them and have been assigned lodges at a college. They do not know how they have come to Earth or who these others are, though a few they recognize from their own realm. For the first time in history The Asgardians will meet the Olympians, the Hindu Gods will meet the Egpytian Gods and the Alaskan Gods as well as the Azetec.
Thrown into this mix are four mortals, two men and two women, who are going to the school as well. They know not who these ones are or the powers they possess, but they soon will…
The Gods have a common goal, though some are more reluctant about it than others, get back to their own realm, but to do that they need help… from the mortals. But will the mortals help? Or will they try to kill the gods, for on Earth there maybe a weapon that can kill them. Though only Mortals may wield it.

Loki Laufeyjarson, god of fire, chaos, mischief, and to some, lying, thievery, magic and deceit… was in his usual spot at the very edge of Asgard and the world of Giants, a fitting place for him, tied up in his son’s entrails as a snake dripped venom on his head making him cringe in pain, only a few times has he not been here… He wished it would stop! Even a brief reprise would be welcomed… but no this was his punishment. His punishment for tricking Hod into killing his twin brother Baldur, the god of light and truth, with a mistletoe at the festival to calm Baldurs nerves, to prove that all the beings on the Earth had promised not to hurt him. All except the Mistletoe, “It is not my fault Frigga forgot to ask the mistletoe… she should have known that even if it is small that it would be insulted that she did not ask…” he thought to himself as the venom dripped on him making him hiss in pain. He almost called out to his Blood brother… and who he once long ago thought of as a father, for help. He bit his tongue before he did. He didn’t want nor need his help! After all this has been his fate since he became a God. Who would have thought? A frost giants’ son becoming a god? It was almost laughable… but here he was, Loki son of the giantess Laufey managed to trick the Gods into becoming one. It was one of his crowning moments.
His others though… well they were always overshadowed by Thor Odinson, Odins’ true son… the thought of Thor brought rage to his face. Every time Loki did some good or grand, there he would be stealing his thunder, his glory, by doing something to one up him! He was the one who made Loki remember what he really was… not an Aesir like the rest, but a frost giant, one will always be over shadowed by them… when Loki remembered this he grew cold and distant from the rest of the Gods, seething in his anger. When the event that led to his imprisonment happened, it was the only thing that kept him sane.
Was his rage against Thor justified? Probably not all of it was, but it was the one thing that he used to keep him sane, and yes, even if he was the god of chaos he was and is quite sane.
The venom dripped on him snapping him back into reality. He tried once more to conjure fire so he could break free of his bindings. Yet as expected he could not. “Curse them!” he screamed out. “Curse them all! When Ragnarok comes and I am freed from here I will exact my revenge on them!” he roared out, knowing no one would hear him. He didn’t even try to break free, feeling to weak. “How many years has it been since I was last fed? Not since I insulted everyone at that feast I believe. No Mead has touched my tongue no fruit has passed my lips.” he thought as he counted the seconds as his skin started to heal, yet as usual just as it did heal another drop of venom fell on his head making him close his eyes. “Even having my mouth sewn shut for months was not this horrible.” he muttered with a sigh.
He felt it rather than saw it.
A shift in the power where he was, the ground shook and a flash of light blinded him, for a moment he thought Thor was coming, but no this was different.
When he opened his eyes he tried to sit up, not expecting to be able to do so he was surprised when he accomplished the feat. “What in Asgard?” he muttered as he looked around him. He blinked, “I am not in Asgard am I?” he muttered seeing tall buildings made out of glass in the distance. He frowned, “Ragnarok has not begun yet, so why have I been freed from my prison?” he asked himself as he started walking. He kicked something and frowned as he picked it up a grin appeared on his face. It was a short scepter like instrument that was gold and had two blades jutting out of the end one longer than the other and nestled in between the blades was a blue crystal. “My weapon… oh it has been ages since I last laid eyes on you.” He commented almost cooing as he held it, making it grow into his staff and then he made it shrink as he made it seem to disappear. He turned around as he thought he heard something and gasped in surprise at what he saw reflected back at him.
In an abandoned building window was a pale man with slicked back black hair and green blue eyes. He wore a long green jacket with gold décor and a black outfit underneath. He walked closer to it and touched the glass. “Is that me? Do I really look so… mortal?” he muttered. It had been ages since he had last looked at himself. He frowned as he moved away from it. He saw something glitter beneath his feet and picked it up reading the Norse runes on the thin gold scroll. It read, Loki Laufeyjarson, your presence is required at the building in the center of town. Do not try not to go Trickster God or the consequences will be worse than you could ever imagine. Loki sneered at the note and crumpled it as he tried to summon his flame. To his great surprise he could as he watched his flame burn the scroll and he crushed the flame out as he started walking to the city.
When he reached the building he sneered as he read the Norse runes etched so faintly in between the college name that mortals would not be able to read it, “I am sent to a place of learning? What mockery is this?” he thought to himself as he found another scroll for him and picked it up as he read the directions on it and again burned the scroll and put it out as the smell of smoke lingered, though considering the room he was in is a stone circular room alit of candles he knew it would be masked.
He walked out of the room and down a hidden path and reached the wall. He took out his scepter and made it grow into a staff as he held it straight out and concentrated as he sent some of his power through it as he made the rune of his name appear on the wall that glowed briefly before vanished as he walked straight through the wall and into what was a familiar sight, or to him it was.
The room was made out of stone and was round, the floor was sawdust and as he looked up he sighed at the seats. “An arena… how quaint…” he muttered to himself as he rested his staff on the ground. He saw a chair made out of Onyx and walked over to it as he sat in it resting his elbow on the arm of the chair and his head in his palm. His legs were spread a bit arrogantly and his mischievous smile was on his face, though that quickly vanished as he noticed that there were nine more chairs, most were elaborate and each seemed to be made out of a different type of stone. “Is this a trial? If so the judges are late…” he commented. “I would pray to Odin that Thor does not come, but since Odin and I are not on good terms I will opt out of that.” He muttered as held onto his staff.

Hades awoke outside, upon a concrete sidewalk. As he began to move his whole body felt harsh and stiff, as if he had been laying there for quite some time.

“Ah...Maybe I did have a little too much drink last night...”

He began to rise, once on two feet he realised something. He was willing his pain to go, but it was not leaving. Gods don’t feel such mild aches and pains. Something was wrong. Hades started to take notice of his surroundings, large buildings of metal and glass dwarfed the area, fast moving vehicles speeded up down the road next to him.

“Is...is this earth?!”

Hades quickly began turn and explore. He was on earth?! And the aches and pain...He caught a glimpse of himself in the reflection of a nearby window. He was skinny, smart looking even. He had long dark brown hair, he wore some kind of shirt and tie and...Hades readjusted his glasses to get a better look, before leaping back in horror at the realization that he was wearing spectacles. That he had to wear spectacles! That confirmed his suspicions; somehow Hades had been bound to a mortal body. One with inefficient eye sight no less.

“Dammit all to hell!” He yelled into the air.

As he did dark shadows encroached on the sidewalk. As he notice they dissipated, it seemed a mortal body couldn’t completely suppress the powers of a God.

“If Persephone has spiked my drink again I’ll...”

No that wasn’t possible, no matter how much distaste he felt for the girl he couldn’t blame her for everything. But then...what the hell is going on? Hades walked for a little bit, straight down the road he awoke on. Then, without really thinking about it he turned and wound up in front a school. Outside there was a plaque with the school’s name, below it the same name was written in the ancient Greek Alphabet. Along with his own name...and Apollo’s.

“Odd” he thought to himself. “A place of education.”

As he entered he came to a vast coliseum like structure. As he walked he found nine thrones, above one of them the name Hades was once again visible in ancient Greek. The throne was made of bones, much like his one in the underworld. He always found it quite distasteful, but that was the way his throne had always been. He sat on it, and for the first time his feet hurt a little.

“For the love of the titans, how do mortals cope?”

He turned and saw another man on another throne, presumably made of some precious stone. He wore green and had black slicked back hair. He eyed the man up and down.

“You there, who are you? Are you in charge here?”

Thor groaned and sat up, rubbing the back of his head. Not again!! He looked around, realizing instantly that he was, once again, in a Midgard city. "What did he do this time?" He asked aloud to himself, thinking of how last time his trip to earth had something to do with Loki. But that doesn't make sense; he was bound; he couldn't have done this, a small voice nagged at the back of his mind, but he waved it off and staggered to his feet.

He had been on his way to see Sif; they were both going to go see Odin(for what exactly he couldn't remember) when he felt his stomach churn a little. At first he thought he had simply had too much at the feast the night before; until the ground fell from beneath him. Just. Him. He had fallen for what seemed like hours of nothingness. And now he was here. Again.....

With a grumpy sigh, still rubbing the forming lump on the back of his head, Thor looked down. Mjolnir was laying at his feet, but it looked different; instead of the hammer he had been carrying, it was now a wooden practice sword. That bugged him, but he couldn't think of what else to do, so he picked it up with another sigh. "This is going to be a long day," he grumbled, then glanced at a nearby window. He all but threw Mjolnir in frustration. He was in a pair of blue jeans and a uniform shirt of some sort; his hair was a little long still, but it didn't look the way it normally did. He was in a mortal body.....

He growled, biting his toungue to keep from releasing a long stream of profanities and continued down the street. It wasn't long before he got to a building. He wasn't sure why he had gone this way, but on it was the name of a school. In Norse runes just below, his name was written. What he saw next made him pale, then turn deep red with anger. Loki's name also appeared. He rushed through the campus, and into a room, his feet leading him. He stopped dead as he entered the room; ten thrones, two already taken, sat within. A brown haired man with glasses sat in a throne made up of bones(the creature they belonged to? He really didn't want to know....) sat to one side. Loki sat in the other filled seat: a chair of onyx. One of the empty ones near Loki was a large oak seat, the back of which was carved into the Tree of Life.

He glared darkly at Loki, walking over to his seat slowly, "What. Did. You. Do?" he growled, keeping Mjolnir at his side.

Loki opened his eyes to slits as he heard someone come into the arena, He raised his head from his hand and frowned as he looked him up and down, he seemed quite normal looking, spectacled eyes, long dark brown hair, and wearing odd attire, though he supposed it might be mortal fashion. When the man asked him if he was in charge Loki smirked a bit, “And if I was in charge? What would you do?” he asked him. His eyes glinted a bit chaotically. “Would you flee? Attack? Or surrender?” he asked him pausing a bit after each option before he shrugged. “Or would you do nary a thing about it?” he asked him. He gave the man another look over. “You are no judge, else I would have recognized you… no Aesir either…” he muttered hiding his confusion, “Well than speak, what are you?” he asked him a bit harshly as he sat up a bit straighter in his chair. He really didn’t care for this man’s name, figuring that he would be soon sent back for his punishment or he would die… Asgard forbidden the thought of himself being killed. But that was a possibility. After all he had seen, and played a hand in, a god’s death.

Loki heard a door to this room open and sighed, what is the point of this place being magically concealed if anyone can enter… But then he felt it… Thor was here. He leapt out of his throne and sneered at him. “YOU!” he bellowed. When Thor asked him what did he do, Loki snarled at him. “What did I do? The better question dear Odinson is why am I here! For I am guiltless of this! I have been a little… tied up if you remember correctly. Though, I must admit it is grand to be out of that cave and not have venom dripping out of a snakes mouth… much like yours.” he hissed at him angrily as he brought his staff as if to smite Thor from where he stood.

For the moment the other man was all but forgotten in Lokis’ eyes, his rage towards Thor consuming him like fire, appropriate for that is what he represented.

Thor stood right back up as Loki spoke, very plainly arguing that he had no hand in what was going on. He tightened his grip on Mjolnir as the Trickster brought up his staff, then paused, looking extremely confused. "Wait... If you didn't bring me here.... How would you have gotten here anyway?!" He bellowed to Loki, but at the same time no one in particular. "I had that very thought just as I landed here. It would have had to've been you, how could it have been that you escaped?" He raised one arm in a shrug, still holding a tight grip on Mjolnir. He watched Loki's eyes, the deep, flickering hatred in them exactly like the flames associated with him. Thunder rolled dangerously over head as he spoke, keeping his eyes on the god of Mischief.

Almost as quick as his anger was there, though, it was replaced by something else; an overwhelming curiosity. How did he get out?! Who brought us here, if he doesn't have a hand in it?!?! Nothing was making any sense; He pulled the practice blade to his side, and sighed. "We won't get anywhere trying to smash each others' heads in..." he grumbled, sitting in his chair again, though not letting Loki from his sight. "Whoever brought us here, they want us both here. Why? Who knows? I thought it was you, but thats plainly not the case if you're just as furious at being here as I am. Put that thing away; its pretty obvious we'll be here a while. Plenty of time to try and kill me later...."

He glanced at the other one, the one sitting on the bones. "Who's this guy?" He asked, still not removing his gaze from the Trickster, "I've never seen him before...."

Adrasteia Nicolaou bid farewell to her temporary home in Athens, only looking over her shoulder once with her hazel before picking up her three pieces of luggage, a battered old suitcase, a messenger bag, and a small cat crate. She wished she had time to go see her families grave but she just hadn't had the time. She wish she had. Her hands went to a simple pebble mosaic necklace, she fiddled witht the pendent before muttering underneath her breath “Goodbye mom, goodbye dad, and goodbye little Abraxas. I am not sure when I will be able to visit you next, but I will be thinking of you.” And with those last words she hailed a taxi. A few minutes later she was at the airport, a ticket for America in her hands.

It was a long and exhausting flight that took most of the night. When she finally got off of the aircraft all she could think about was falling asleep. She was lucky she didn't have any bags that were checked, hers were big enough for carry on. She decided that the best course of action would be to head to her destination.

Adrasteia Nicolaou's destination was a college that she had applied to, it was small, and looked nice. Plus it was away from her past...

She asked around the city where the building was, speaking to a few people in Greek, her native tongue, and the rest in an accented english. She was fluent in english for the most part, but some things were hard for her.

The twenty two year old finally found out the location and as she approached the building she couldn't help but marvel at the structure. It was simply amazing, it seemed to blend different cultural styles and still blend perfectly together.

And then it happened.

The sky took on a grey tone, and the clouds rolled in, it had been a bit cloudy on the way over sure, but nothing to indicate the drastic change of weather that was happening.

There was a large crack of lightening so close that she could see the arching and the branching out of the veins. Andrasteia let out a scream before bolting inside, her feet carrying her swiftly.

The poor animal in the crate was bounced around from the sudden movement and the young woman apologized to the creature before pulling it out of the crate.

It was a small fennec fox that had a collar on it that simply read “Butterball.”

“I am so sorry about the Butterball...but at least the building blocks out the noise...”

Andrasteia looked around the building but the halls were empty...and she really didn't like that. Colleges shouldn't be empty...”Hello? Is anyone here?”

Ganesh wasn't happy. All he had done was play a harmful harmless prank on one of the lesser gods, the God of Void. But noooo, it's a big crime to fool someone into eating worms. So he was punished. That was the only reason he could up with to explain why he on earth, most likely, and importantly why he had a human face. He touched his face one more time to make it human.

Ganesh looked around. He was somewhere; certainly not his hometown or his homecountry even. The grass around him was soft and it all looked pretty. His own home was just ice and mountains; his country was a mixture of everything. But never had he seen such properly maintained grass before. Was he really on Earth?

Ganesh walked on the road wondering were he should be going. He was distracted by the grass and the scenery to truly think about which direction was correct. If he had been brought here for some punishment, the punisher would surely have thought of making sure Ganesh reached where he had to reach. Ganesh stopped for a second. Should he go the other way? In the end it did not matter.

He reached a building. It wasn't as beautiful as his own home, which was a pristine white snow covered mountain. But then again, the builders where mere mortals. They did not have world changing powers. Not constructive world changing powers, in any case. It was a institution of learning, a college. Higher learning.

Ganesh felt sad for humans. They only lived for so long, yet they spent so much time in these institutions. How much are you going to study? What is point of learning so much when you forget living? You may die educated, but you have wasted a precious thing. Ganesh shook off his feelings and went inside.

It was empty. As he walked through the corridors he looked at architecture. It was nice, to say the least. Then he reached a room. It was a large enough room. It had ten chairs. Three men were already present, two of them not on friendly terms it seemed. He hadn't met anyone till now and these did not seem human. Looked yes, but did not feel.

He looked around. Smooth stone and round room. Ten chairs. On a chair made of bones sat a pale brown haired kid. He wore white and blue. On a chair made of a material Ganesh did not recognize sat a man, black haired and white skinned, whose arrogance irritated Ganesh. His enemy of sorts looked quite like him. When Ganesh had entered this man was standing so he did not know what chair was his. Ganesh just assumed each chair was custom built because there was one he did want to sit on.

It was red in color and looked like a lotus. Ganesh sat down, sighed and said to the man who held a scepter, "Instead of fighting, you should wonder why you and the others are here."

Hades stretched out on his throne and placed one leg over the arm of the chair as he listened to Loki taunting him. He didn’t pay much attention, he was obviously trying provoke Hades and he didn’t care much for that. Once Loki stopped talking Hades went to reply but then another man entered, waving some kind of practice sword around and seemed to be furious with strange man Hades had previously addressed. Hades carried on watching, it was strange, they spoke as if they, themselves, were Olympians. Things were getting stranger, eventually another man entered who had his own elaborate throne, whoever created this place was well prepared. Hades kept himself quiet, these were strange mortals.
As he sat he heard some shouting from the hallway below. Another? Female by the sounds of it, she sounded confused. What was with this? Were these people truly mortals? They had obnoxious arrogance that only came with being a God. But he recognized none of them. He had seen Apollo’s name outside...

“I wonder when my dear nephew will show...”

He turned attention back to the crying voice

“We’re in here! Come in, we could use some more crazy!”

Hades yelled back before chuckling to himself. He sat back in his throne and yawned before turning back to the squabbling children.

“You two certainly are strange little creatures.”

In the realm of the Egyptian Gods, it was night time, and the journey of the Mesektet-boat was underway, as it was every night. Ra, the head of the pantheon, would travel through the waters of the underworld, to face the serpent Apep and begin a new day. The barge, a long, narrow vessel that had been favoured by the Ancient Egyptians, drifted slowly through the shadowy plane, with no sail to aid it. There was no wind in the realm of the dead.

The sun god, Ra, sat upon a throne towards the back, a golden light gleaming from his being, and from the sun disk on his crown, the only thing that seemed to alleviate the unnatural, almost tangible darkness of the place. He was a tall, imposing figure, his head that of a hawk, with thick kohl lines painted around his eyes.

That evening, Ra had company on his journey....more than was usual in fact, for the figure who stood beside him would usually have other duties. It had been Sekhmet's job to protect the pharaoh from harm...but there were no pharaohs anymore.

The war goddess stood on the edge of the boat, looking down into the pitch black waters. Her head was that of a lioness, marked with green pigment on the face, eyes gleaming with the fire of the sun. Mortals often said upon looking at children that they 'had their father's eyes' and it was more true than most with Sekhmet, created from the fire in her father's eye when he saw what the world had become.
"They pay you no mind now, Ra." she stated, voiced edged with a leonine snarl.
"They worships things now, not Gods. Our statues are nothing but attractions for them to gawp at and spill drinks on. The mortal world has rotted over the years as they have nothing to look towards."

"Perhaps you're right Sekhmet, but even if you are, our time is passed and you simply have to accept it. Violence is going to solve nothing. " the sun god responded somberly. They were no longer the revered figures they'd once been, and Sekhmet had trouble accepting that.

The war goddess sighed, turning her face upwards towards the gloom up ahead. She could spy several other Gods stood up on deck, though the further they stood from Ra, the harder it was to make them out. The waters twisted and foamed at the prow as enormous, terrible things moved just beneath the surface. The underworld truly was a wretched place.

Sekhmet turned to address her father again, to argue her point....but her debate was cut suddenly, and abruptly, short. As she opened her mouth to speak, something enormous and black burst from the murky depths, wrapping around her waist. Sekhmet barely had time to register her surprise before she was snapped backwards, over the side and into the dark water.

What seemed only moments later, Sekhmet opened her eyes, surprised to find herself in sunlight, rather than somewhere beneath the waters of the netherworld...it was a welcome surprise however....well..until she got a better view of her surroundings. As she did...she started to wish that she was back in the river of the dead. This was earth.

She was lying on a grassy bank, and all around her were the human folks, chattering, walking, messing around with their bizarre electric devices. She made no attempt to disguise her distaste, though when her look of disdain was met by one passer by, not by fear and reverence, but by a crude call of 'Hey what're you lookin' at?' she began to suspect that something was amiss.

Sekhmet rose to her feet and approached a nearby car, checking her reflection in the glass. Disgusting. Her noble lion head was gone, and replaced by one of the squashed, snub-nosed ape faces that mortals possessed..and seemed to proud of. The day only seemed to be getting worse. She sunk her hands into the pockets of the dress she wore, only to find a note there, written in hieroglyphs.

Perhaps it would offer some sort of answer as to how she ended up there...and in such a form as that. The human face was taking a lot of getting used to. She rather missed the presence of her muzzle in her peripheral vision. She scanned over the letter, and it appeared to point to a location..a location that Sekhment headed towards most immediately.

The journey was more than a little perilous, being unfamiliar with cars, roadworks, or social graces....but soon she found herself gazing at the building that she had been directed to. It all seemed very suspicious, and Sekhmet felt quite ready for the possibility of trickery...it could all be the work of some demon for all she knew....but a demon should have known better than to trifle with the goddess of war.

She made her way in, to be confronted with a strange chamber, one lined with objects that appeared to resemble thrones. One in fact, appeared to be set aside for her. It was constructed from granite, like many of her statues, with a cartouche containing her name carved into the back, and the rearing cobra at the top.

It also appeared that the room was occupied by several other individuals, none of which she recognized. Two of them appeared to be engaged in an argument of some sort, but as she entered, one of the others, appearing to be a dark skinned young man, spoke up, suggesting that they questioned what they were doing there.

"I would like to know the very same thing." Sekhmet spoke as she walked over to the seat baring her name.

Lux held the acceptance letter in her hand reading it over for the tenth time that morning. A knock came to her door before she could react the door was flung open she met the eyes of her foster mother. "Whats a matter you couldn't find somewhere any further away?" She glowered at the woman. "It is a good school Lux just bring your bags down we are ready to go." The woman stepped out of her room and hurried to the car. Lux grabbed up her bags and followed her out to the car.

Lux found her dorm quickly tossing her bags on her bed. She pulled out a map and started to work on figuring where her classes would be. She found the food hall. "That seems like the best bet for now." She mused to herself as she headed down. She got caught up in the building and how drastical different every one seemed to be. "atleast it's pretty."

She walked into the food hall the dirt crunched under her feet. She bought a tray heading over to one of the empty tables pulling out a book letting herself get lost in the pages.

Loki kept his hand on his staff as he heard the thunder crash above them. “…I do not know how I came to be on Midgard, or Earth…whatever it may be called. I was where I usually am and then I came to be near this building of learning.” He told him. He smirked at Thor, “Odinson if I brought you here I would not have given you the pleasure of having both your power and your weapon… and yes I can tell what that stick is. T’would be one or the other not both, of course I’d be limited as well, being as this was in the treasury when I was imprisoned.” He commented. He sat back down in his chair his staff still close by his side. “I am furious to see my captor here…but I agree with you that we should not try to smash our heads in…for now.” He remarked. He smirked at Thor as he made his staff turn into a scepter and made it seem like it vanish, “I won’t need that to kill you, Odinson.” He remarked. He then remembered about the other one in the room.

“A fair question, it seems for once you are using your brain and not your brawn! I am almost impressed.” He mocked Thor. “I do not know him, he is not an Aesir else we would have recognized him. But I feel he is not mortal, else he would not have been able to enter this room. I do not know what he is nor who he is.” He remarked ignoring the brown haired mans’ jibes, he knew he needed to calm down… but the lighting didn’t help that, he hated thunder and lightning… “I was conversing with him afore you threw open the door announcing your presence in your usual brutish manners. There is a thing called subtly…” he jibe at him before turning to the other.

“Well then, speak your name and what you are.” He calmly told him. He turned to the new man and now new women, “I am curious about that as well, though I have a feeling of who it may have been. Not for you three, for I do not know nor assume to know much about you, only hints.” He commented with a shrug, he could tell he wasn’t liked by this one, but then again Loki wasn’t known for friends, he wasn’t the most pleasant person. Even among his own kind there wasn’t many that he counted as brethren. “Thor was at one point…As well as Odin…” he thought to himself as he rested his head on back of his hand. He quickly wiped that thought away.

Thor listened angrily as Loki tried to goad him into a fight as more people came in and took their seats, then demanded to know who and what they were without having introduced himself first! Oddly enough, he was just as angry at that fact as he was at the fact that he partially agreed with the Trickster: he wanted to know, as well. There was a different sense about these others, one that was similar to what he might get as he passed another Asgardian, but they were at the same time nothing like Asgardians. He sighed as he leaned back in his seat, Mjolnir resting against one arm of the chair.

"Really, Loki, you have the cleverness to try to continue the fight, but not to introduce yourself? Did being "tied up" leave you with that little common sense? You speak to me of subtly, and yet you so blatantly display rudness equal to my "Brutishness"? We are on Earth, not Asgard. Our rules don't apply here..." As the woman walked in, he smirked at Loki and stood, almost automatically, giving a slight bow to the lady. "I am Thor, son of Odin," He spoke with a voice that boomed over the thunder, which punctuated his sentence.

Loki actually chuckled warmly at Thors’ remark, “I was lost in thought actually… I was wondering if there was a clue in this room… But yes, I should introduce myself. I am Loki. Son of the Giantess Laufey…” he rolled his shoulders slightly feeling them to be a bit stiff. “Being tied up has left me a bit stiff Odinson, I assume when we get back to Asgard I won’t be able to ask for my binds to be a little less tight?” he asked him already knowing he answer to be no. “As for our rules not applying here… tis seems some do. How else would your lightning be able to obey you? Try releasing Mjollnir see if you can summon it to you… Don’t worry I won’t steal it.” He told him. He glanced around the room taking in each and every detail. “Before you do so Thor, a question to you all, perhaps one that may answer some of my suspicions… Does the structure of the Arena mean anything special to you? Or not necessarily you, but where you come from?” he asked them, his eyes taking in everything he could.

"Dammit...!" Erebus groaned in pain, clinging his chest in agony. He panted desperately and coughed up dark black blood. "How could this happen...!?" He fell to the ground, his vision blurred as he collapsed in anguish. Only once before had he felt this weak, and he never truly recovered from that day. Erebus was a primordial greek god, the crafters of the universe and rulers before the Titans. His power was as vast as the darkness of the night sky, all of darkness, every shadow was at his command and control. But right then, he felt something he had not experienced in millennia, pain.

Erebus crawled to a wall to a building in this alley, he moaned weakly, coughing up more and more of his black blood. Erebus was a common visitor of the mortal realm. He would drink, womanize, do drugs, kill random people, experience all the 'luxuries'  and 'pleasures' of the mortals, but it was different now, this time he was not in control.  "To me my Shadow..." Across the alley floor, climbing the walls of the two buildings beside, dark shadowy figures swarmed to Erebus. They combined together into one single dark entity.

Image

Erebus snarled in such pain his teeth nearly bled, he threw his back against the wall in one quick twist. He stared at the wicked silhouette of his shadow, standing obediently against the parallel wall.  Blood slowly trickled down Erebus's chin.

"What is the meaning of this...? Have I been poisoned again...?" Erebus growled in anger and pain, remembering the night of his wife's murder. An unknown assailant had poisoned the wines of Erebus and his wife Nyx, the night. This poison burned away their immortality, leaving them vulnerable and weak. The poison took such a tole on Nyx that her mind was destroyed. This pain was similar to before, but weaker, not as concentrated as the poison was once before.

"Shadow..." Erebus had prepared something in case he was poisoned again. He had hidden fragments of his existence within his shadow, making his shadow alive and his last resort. His shadow's figure stretched slowly until it was touching him. Erebus gasped out as he felt himself slowly siphoning some of his existence from his shadow, enough to ease the pain of mortality.

"αιώνιο σκοτάδι, καθρέφτη στη σκιά, δείξε μου, όπου η σκιά της αλήθειας στηρίζεται" Erebus enchanted slowly to his shadow. (eternal darkness, shadowed mirror, show me where the shadow of truth rests) The darkness of his shadow began to swirl and ripple until it looked like a mirror of obsidian. Inside the mirror showed a round room, with ten chairs. Within the room were deities. Like him, weakened in their immortality. Today, these were his siblings in calamity.

"ας σκιές μας αναμίξετε" (let our shades mix) Erebus began to sink into his shadow like quick sand, raising from a new shadow within the round room along with his 'siblings'. He slowly forced himself to his feet, his shadow then carried him to an obsidian chair with the name 'Έρεβος', his name. "Siblings..."

A tall, heavyset man sat on a throne in the large sweeping palace that was of a style similar to the Aztec pyramids. He was wearing a magnificent feathered headdress, as well as a long sweeping cloak. Even without his imposing build playing a part, it was clear that this was no mere mortal. No, this was Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, the Aztec lord of the morning star, the ruler of the heavens. Well, maybe not quite the ruler, that was Tonatiuh's job. By Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli liked to boast, even if it did get him into trouble. Trouble was good after all, because trouble led to chaos, and chaos was fun. Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli loved chaos.

As he tossed a few darts up and down into the air out of sheer boredom - gods could get bored, after all - Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli felt his vision blurring. A burning pain sprang up in the back of his head. What was happening?! He was a god, gods didn't feel pain!

Black spots flickered at the edge of his eyes. Was Tonatiuh getting revenge? Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli couldn't think of anything bad he had done recently. All he had done was cause some trouble in the lives of a few humans here and there, but, humans were like ants. They were meant to be messed with. Besides, it was his job to cause chaos and trouble.

The god fell out of his chair, slumping onto his knees, clutching his head. When he drew his hand away, it was dripping with the deep crimson colour of blood. How could this be possible?! Gods were not humbled so easily! Black spots clouded in front of his vision, growing denser by the second. Within moments, his vision had gone completely black, and he passed out.

Slowly, the spots clearing from his vision, Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli managed to rise to his feet. He rubbed his eyes. What on earth had happened? Almost immediately, the god knew something was amiss. Maybe it was the fact that his body was so much scrawnier than it usually was. Or that his hair was now curly, and had black streaks in it.

Maybe it was the fact that his robe and headdress had disappeared. Actually, all of his clothes had disappeared. Of course, Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli paid no mind to this. There was nobody around him, and if people felt uncomfortable by his nudity, too bad for them. They would be the only ones who were concerned about his lack of clothes. Tlahuizacalpantecuhtli himself didn't give a single care about whether he was wearing anything or not. It was all the same to him.

He took a step forward, glancing around at his surroundings. How weak he felt! This body was clearly of a mortal. It had been so long since he had last walked in the body of one of the mortals. He had forgotten how powerless they felt. It really was obvious why mortals were constantly battling for power. It was the only way to stop them from feeling so insignificant, so weak.

There was a large door in front of him. It was built of a sandy stone, similar in colour to his palace. In his godly form, the door would have been just tall enough for him to walk through, but in this mortal body, it towered over him. Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli walked forward, and attempted to push it open. It glided open easily without a single creak, as if it was made of foam rather than stone.

Keeping his head raised proudly, his shoulders back, Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli strutted in through the large opening. The next sight that appeared to his completely shocked him. '

There were other people in the room, sitting on thrones. Some of the ten thrones were empty, clearly the person meant to sit in those hadn't arrived yet. Each one of the thrones seemed to suit the people sitting in them, so, of course, Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli headed over to the one that called to him the most, ignoring everyone else in the room. The throne itself was a heavy stone thing, made of a sandy-gray rock. It was the perfect size for Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli to sit on regally, so, of course, that was what he did.

The male glanced around the room, surveying the other people who were there. A few of them looked to be friendly, others did not. One guy looked like an arrogant prick, Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli made a mental note to be as cruel to him as possible. Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli absolutely hated arrogant pricks. Especially if they happened to go by the name of Tonatiuh. Of course, this particular arrogant prick wasn't anyone particularly special, most likely being just a boring old mortal. After all, what sort of god had pale skin?! That was absolutely unheard of. Only ignorant savages had pale skin. Besides, his hair was in a completely ungodly style. It was black, and cut in the strangest sort of styles. Yeah, that was most certainly just a really arrogant mortal.

He spotted a woman who appeared to have just walked into the room. She could actually be a goddess. A weak one, but still a goddess. Her skin was an acceptable shade of dark, and she had long black hair. She certainly was gorgeous, and she appeared to radiate power. Yes, she certainly could be a goddess.

The other people in the room weren't particularly impressive. Most of them were far too pale and looked rather dull, apart from one other male with darker skin, but he looked too optimistic to be important. Well, the optimistic part could certainly be remedied very, very quickly. Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli was excellent at remedying optimism. He had to do it far too often. Well, one or two deaths - or ten or twenty - should do the trick.

"So, does anyone have a clue why the <censored> I'm here?" Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli may have hated arrogant people, but that meant in no way that he wasn't one of them.

Adrasteia tilted her head as she heard someone calling for her to join them. It sounded like it was coming down the hallway...So the androgynous woman grabbed her luggage and started to go down the unsettling empty building, Butterball following right behind her.

The sound of her boots thudding against the cold floor was the only thing that broke the silence. Well that and a faint humming. At first she couldn't recognize the noise and just assumed that it was the humming of the lights. But as she got closer she recognized it as voices...loud enough to hear but not loud enough to understand. And no whenever she thought she was getting closer to the source, it would change directions. It was almost as if it was coming from everywhere and nowhere.

After what felt like hours of wandering around, but was probably only a few minutes the woman ended up in what looked like the cafeteria. Inside was blonde haired woman sitting by herself, could she have possibly been the voice she heard? Adrasteia didn't think so, the voice sounded like that of a male.

The greek woman sat down in the nearest chair, and rubbed her temple, covering up the tattoo over her eyebrow. What in the world was going on in here? “Are you the only other person here? This is a college isn't it? Where is everyone? And where are the dorms...I would like to drop off my stuff and get things arranged.” She wasn't expecting the other woman to answer her question, but any information would be useful.

Loki blinked at the man who just appeared out of shadows and smirked a bit, "I was getting a bit tired of people just opening doors in here..." he remarked with a chuckle. He blinked, "Ahhh... so you have the same feeling as I do about who everyone is...rather what everyone is..." he commented as the another door appeared and opened. He looked at the other one who entered, looking him over "tan skin, tall, sturdy build, Blond hair... of course. What in Helhiem is that around his eye?" he thought to himself. He shook his thoughts away as he watched the man look around at the others, "interesting.. unlike most he seems to be taking everyone in..." he thought to himself. When the man looked at him he only offered a faint smirk. "Seems more are coming..." he muttered softly. When the man spoke he shrugged, "I have no clue...though there may be clues here..." he told them as he stood up and started to carefully look at the wall behind him. He blinked as he saw a familiar marking. "Well, well..." he muttered to himself as he placed his hand on the wall and felt around it. "Seems. One of my hunches may have been right..." he stated as he closed his eyes and green flames wrapped around a the brick as the flame formed the Norse rune for his name. He watched as the brick vanished. He looked inside and pulled out a wooden box, made out of pine. He blinked as he saw the Yggdrasil mark on it. He flipped opened the lid using a slight bit of his magic to do so and found inside it.

A key.

He blinked as he picked up the key on a slim chain... it did not seem to be made of Earthly metal. "Tis seems they mean us to have a place to board..." he muttered as he picked up another scroll, "I am getting sick of these..." he muttered as he cracked the seal and read it with a groan. Loki Laufeyjarson, you and Thor are sharing a room in the Norse Dorm, you have the dorm all to yourselves, but do not try anything to foolish, for we have eyes everywhere. He looked at Thor. "Why is it always you?" he stated more to himself. He shook his head and decided he should leave the room... he was hungry. "I suggest everyone try to find their keys." he muttered. "Tis seems we a boarding with others... You can guess who I am boarding with..." he muttered.

As he was leaving he saw something glittering on one of the chairs above them in the stadium that started to actually come towards them, mainly towards Thor. “Thor! Look out!” he cried out, a fear in his heart for him… an odd and unwelcome occurrence, as he quickly drew on his fire and concentrated it to be as thin as a needle as he hit it out of the way. The object appeared to be a fragment of some unearthly metal.

Erebus breathed out weakly, exhausted and irritated to think that his immortality had been weakened to stay at this mortal institution. What more, when he heard Loki and Thor were to lodge together in a dorm of the Norse, he gritted his teeth in anger. As he had sat there, he had noticed his great-nephew Hades (one of the few Gods of Olympus he could stand) and a throne set aside for his least favorite great-great-nephew, Apollo. Erebus may have not interacted with his nephews but from his visits to Earth, he was constantly reminded of his Olympic family. The terrible bright lights, the endless crowds of people, and all of the NOISE.

Erebus like many of the other primordial gods existed unhindered and free to act as long as it did not go against the 'rulers'. Most of the primordial gods and goddess were the embodiments of the universe, avatars of existence. Erebus was the 'avatar' of darkness, so his freedom was uncontested, but if he was to go against the current rulers, he would risk being imprisioned to his embodiment. His sister Gaia, the 'avatar' of the Earth and mother of the titans, was imprisoned to her embodiment, trapping her within herself, in a form of stasis. Erebus believed his sister to be a fool but it was truly the fault of the Olympians, after all they were her grandchildren. Erebus had no attachment to existing freely really, he still lived in constant agony and anger, but if he was imprisioned he would truly be alone. While Erebus likes to be left alone and have alone time, he did not like the idea of being forced alone. It would be like the murder of his wife all again.,

Erebus closed his eyes, focusing upon the key he was suppose to find to try and ease the rage and anguish from his thoughts family. He began to think, "A key for the Greek dorm. A key..." Suddenly his eyes busted open and spoke softly to himself. "The Greek Key."

The Greek Key, also known as the Greek Fret or Greek Line, is a decorative border constructed from a continuous line, shaped into a repeated motif. It is also known as a 'meander' or 'meandros' from the Greek God of the winding river, Maíandros.
Image

Erebus spoke softly "Shadow, find the meandros." Erebus's shadow faded into the room around them, melding with the other shadows. It was but a few moments later, when Erebus's shadow reformed three dimensionally beside him. Like a shadowy specter it did not speak but simply raised its left arm, pointing a dark smokey like finger. Erebus rose from his chair, calmly and slowly walking for where his Shadow had gestured.

Against the wall, down on the floor was a solid stone base molding, that circled the room. It had no designs on it, except for one small square with the Greek Key engraved in it. Erebus reached down to the design, casting a shadow over it. The moment his hand touched the shadow on the base molding, his hand passed through the shadow and inside the wall.

Erebus slowly pulled away from the wall, a key and scroll in hand, thinking to himself. "The sooner to begin, the sooner to finish."

Thor watched the people around him, standing only when Loki said they who-or-whatever had brought them all here had set up rooms for them. "Why is it always you?" The Mischief God said grumpily, almost to himself, and Thor tensed. He was roommates with Loki?! he groaned; this was very possibly the longest, most annoying day he had ever experienced. Great, he thought furiously,I will be sharing a room with someone who wants me dead. Who in Helhiem plans these damned dorms?! Almost as the thought went through his head, Loki's voice shattered the almost trance he had unintentionally put himself in."Thor! Look out!" He jumped slightly, startled at the sudden shout, and turned around just in time to see a thin flash of fire knock something off course. A jagged looking bit of metal, one even Thor didn't recognize.

Loki, the God of Mischief, one of those who wanted Thor's demise, had just saved his life. He stood there, completely stunned at this sudden turn of events. He owed Loki his life now, that much was certain. And the God of Thunder hated the thought of being indebted to anyone, much less his former, adopted brother. "Thanks," he growled, shifting his grip on Mjolnir, "Well we might as well find our room, Loki." It took some effort, but his voice lost some of the hatred, the cold fury he held for the god.

Loki looked about as stunned as Thor. “why in Asgard did I just save him! Twas a foolish thing to do! That shard of metal could have killed him for me…” he thought to himself before shaking his head. “than again that is no fun. T’would have served the purpose I have wanted to happen to him, but it wouldn’t have been me who did it. Yes that probably is it… it would not have been me who did the deed…” he thought to himself, denying the fact that it was because he had actually worried about the boorish oaf.
He blinked out of his train of thought, “Hmmm? Oh yes of course…” he muttered softly, “But then I shall be finding the dining hall… I have not eaten in ages…” he muttered as he went to the wall he came from. “Shall I meet you in the room of candles, or shall we both go out this way Thor? Or out your door?” he asked him, his voice sounding a bit out of it. He rubbed his head behind his pointer finger and thumb. “Oh, a warning to the others, I would suggest not checking that shard of metal, I do not recognize it… and it could be harmful to us. Until we find out more of what it is we should be wary.” He commented almost as a passing thought. “I hope there is mead… or some alcohol.”

Other than the fact that these "immortals" were in the same boat as he was in, Erebus did not care at all about anyone in the room. They were loud and flamboyant, so many bright colors and ridiculous outfits, it gave him a head ache to even think that these were meant to be gods.

On his travels through the world, he had heard of the dieties of other lands, but believed them only to be the bastardized versions of Greek by ignorant mortals. It was almost insulting to think that these Peacocks of Gods were worshiped at all. Erebus had on a three piece all black pinstripe suit, with a black shirt, tie and wingtip shoes. His suit was covered in dirt and his blood. With a light adjustment of his tie, suddenly the suit began become clean and pristine, as if it was just tailored to his body. Erebus had made a suit of shadows that fit to his body perfectly, could change styles and appearances, and become a form of defense or even escape by using the shadows.

Suddenly something caught Erebus's attention and shook him from his thoughts of distain, the mention of alcohol. Erebus quickly turned to face Loki, he was about to call out to him, but hesitated when he didn't recall (more he didn't bother to remember) his name. "Asgardian! Hold!"

Erebus walked back over to his shadow, which still stood as a three dimensional shadow spectre next to his chair, and threw his key and scroll into it's chest. The items vanished into the darkness, then as if the spectre had turned into black water, it splashed down to the floor, becoming two dimensional once more. Erebus walked toward Loki with a lack of expression but with a very determined step.

"You spoke of liquor?" Erebus said as a smile slowly creeped across his face.

Loki blinked as he heard one call out to them, and stopped a sigh on his lips. “I spoke of alcohol yes. Though I would settle for a goblet of water I have been without drink for ages…” he muttered softly. He wasn’t too shocked that this man called them Asgardians, after all he had mentioned Asgard. Though he did want to know what he was, “But I appear to be at a slight disadvantage. You see, you know what we are but I do not have the same pleasure…” he told him as he shrugged a bit.

Then again I have not been to Midgard in ages… and when I have I was soon brought back to my realm… and then I was bound for centuries.” He thought drolly. “But those are old tales…” he thought as he waved that thought away with his hand. He looked at the attire Thor and this other man had on with a frown, his outfit was out of place.

I wish that whomever had transported me here had the decency to cloth me in the attire of this time in Midgard…” he thought to himself with a sigh. “it will have to do for now, after I have had sustenance I can use my magic to change my appearance of clothing, or I pray that they have tailors or clothes shops here…” he thought to himself, he really hoped they had a shop… he did not want to use his magic on something so small as clothing that was suited for this time period, he’d rather wear what he had on now instead of wasting magic he may need later.

Erebus chuckled with a cold low tone. His chuckle felt dark and cruel, as if he didn't naturally laugh, at least not like everyone else. Erebus' sick, sadistic humor corrupted his laugh, that even non-malevolent laughter felt wicked and black. While he did not understand these strange gods, at least for the time being, he would gladly take them over his family. For if these deities were to turn against him, at least nothing they could do truly hurt him. Yes, they may cause pain, but nothing could harm him like his family's betrayals. And besides, it had been a while since he had some alcohol, he could "trust" these odd deities if it got him some.

However, Erebus understood that if he was seen as a threat, trust would be an irrelevant emotion, and who knew, perhaps one of these deities could help him return to his full power and leave this peculiar place. So, Erebus figuratively extended the olive branch of peace, while keeping his blade at the ready.

"I am a child of the void; I am the darkness and shadows; I am keeper of the deepest hole in hell; I am husband of the night; sire of the atmosphere and day, the nymphs of evening and the seamstresses of fate, love and favor, guile and fraud, sleep and dreams, misery and lament, fear and envy, fate and toil, old age and stubbornness, discord and chaos, insolence and restraint, revenge and mercy, friendship and merriment, mockery and kindness, gentle and violent death, the waters of hell and my shadow;  I am Erebus."

While the introduction was in many senses very old fashioned, Erebus did not know any other way to explain nor know to try and explain it differently. Erebus was born forth of the empty void of space, Khaos, mother of the universe. He was the embodiment of darkness and shadows. He controlled his brother Tartarus, the hell of hell, as if it was himself. His wife, Nyx was the embodiment of night and together they gave birth to Aether, embodiment of the atmosphere, and Hamera, the embodiment of day...((go to the link on the bottom))

"Now, Ας πίνουν μέχρις ότου ο ουρανός είναι κάτω από τη γη." Erebus chuckled coldly. (let us drink until the sky is beneath the earth) He spoke again, knowing that not everyone spoke Greek.  "Let's go find something to drink."
